USA: Trump issues aid withdrawal warning ahead of Jerusalem vote
US President Donald Trump threatened to stop sending aid to countries that planned to vote in favour of a United Nations resolution against the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital when he spoke from Washington DC on Wednesday.

Flipping brilliant!
Let’s see how these hyper-corrupt POS foreign governments decide to vote when their lunch tickets are on the line. Like him or hate him, at least Trump knows how to punch precisely at the belt line with these hypocritical bastiches.

Silicon Valley Frankenmeat to Save the World from Global Warming
If Silicon Valley green tech giants have their way, real meat will become an unaffordable carbon taxed luxury item eaten by the very rich. The rest of us will have to eat “meatless meat” – meat flavoured mashed vegetables and lab grown tissue cultures.

Anti-Semitism is still alive in Germany as Jews face ‘disturbing’ discrimination
BERLIN — When telecommunications manager Mikhail Tanaev emigrated to Germany in 1998 from his native Russia as a teen, his Jewish faith didn’t matter to classmates or neighbors.
That’s because Germany has taken extraordinary steps since the end of World War II to atone for the Holocaust and prevent anti-Semitism from taking hold again. The country has paid reparations to Jewish victims of Nazi persecution, erected dozens of memorials to those murdered and turned anti-Semitic speech into a crime.
Yet Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decision in 2015 to open the nation’s arms to 1 million mostly Muslim refugees has created a double threat for Germany’s roughly 120,000 Jews: rising anti-Semitism from the newcomers and a resurgent right-wing nationalist movement spawned by the arrival of so many immigrants.
The anti-Semitic sentiment has become more pubic and virulent, said Tanaev, 32. “When I arrived in Germany … I never saw such displays.”
Last week, thousands of protesters in Berlin burned Israeli flags to protest President Trump’s controversial decision on Dec. 7 to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The flag-burning prompted a national outcry.

(3rd LD) N. Korean soldier flees to S. Korea via DMZ: military
SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Yonhap) — A North Korean soldier fled to South Korea through the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the inter-Korean land border, Thursday, followed by gunfire from both sides, the South’s military said.
The “low-ranking” soldier appeared in front of a guard post on the mid-western front at around 8:04 a.m. amid thick fog, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
After the defection, the North’s border guards approached the military demarcation line (MDL) apparently in search of the defector, a JCS official told reporters.
In response, the South’s troops fired some 20 warning shots at around 9:30 a.m., he said.
Roughly 40 minutes later, there was the sound of several gunshots from the North but no bullets were found to have crossed the border, he added.

Prosecutors ask FBI agents for info on Uranium One deal
by Tom Winter, Pete Williams and Ken Dilanian
On the orders of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Justice Department prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton, multiple law enforcement officials told NBC News.
The interviews with FBI agents are part of the Justice Department’s effort to fulfill a promise an assistant attorney general made to Congress last month to examine whether a special counsel was warranted to look into what has become known as the Uranium One deal, a senior Justice Department official said.

House Republicans quietly investigate perceived corruption at DOJ, FBI
The group was born out of frustration over the Justice Department’s refusal to explain how it used a disputed dossier
A group of House Republicans has gathered secretly for weeks in the Capitol in an effort to build a case that senior leaders of the Justice Department and FBI improperly — and perhaps criminally — mishandled the contents of a dossier that describes alleged ties between President Donald Trump and Russia, according to four people familiar with their plans.
A subset of the Republican members of the House intelligence committee, led by Chairman Devin Nunes of California, has been quietly working parallel to the committee’s high-profile inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. They haven’t informed Democrats about their plans, but they have consulted with the House’s general counsel.

Moment of truth for independence drive as divided Catalonia votes
BARCELONA (Reuters) – Voters in a deeply divided Catalonia flocked to the polls on Thursday with support for its separatist and unionist camps running neck-and-neck, leaving prospects of an end to Spain’s worst political crisis in decades looking slim.
Final pre-election surveys published last Friday showed parties backing the region’s independence drive, galvanized by an autumn referendum, could lose absolute control of its parliament but might be able to form a minority government.
That would keep national politics mired in turmoil and raise concerns in European capitals and financial markets, though the secessionist campaign has lost some momentum since the Oct. 1 plebiscite, which Madrid outlawed, and investors gave Thursday’s events in the region a muted reception.
Catalonia’s pro-independence President Carles Puigdemont, deposed by authorities in Madrid following the region’s referendum and a unilateral declaration of independence, rallied supporters from self-imposed exile in Brussels.

Dying for a paycheck: the Russian civilians fighting in Syria
ORENBURG, Russia (Reuters) – When Vladimir Kabunin signed up as a private military contractor, he saw a chance to make a wage much higher than any he could earn in his provincial Russian hometown.
Happy to be able to support his wife and son, the ex-police officer left Orenburg, nearly 1,500 km (940 miles) southeast of Moscow, and joined pro-Russian rebels fighting government forces in east Ukraine, a family friend and a relative told Reuters.
When fighting subsided there, he went to Syria to serve as a field medic with troops under Russian command, they said.
Kabunin was killed in Syria this year and his body was sent home, they said. But the government does not recognize he was in Syria, so he was buried without military honors and nothing on his grave shows he was killed in action.
Kabunin, who was 38, was one of hundreds of military contractors secretly recruited by Moscow for combat operations in Syria since Russia’s military operation began there in 2015, according to people familiar with the deployment.

Russian parliament ratifies naval base agreement with Syria (abcnews, Dec 21, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/russian-parliament-ratifies-naval-base-agreement-syria-51925987
“The Russian parliament has voted to extend Russia’s lease of a naval base in Syria for 49 years following the announcement of a partial pullout of Russian troops from that country.
Russia’s air campaign in Syria, which began in 2015, helped turn the tide of the Syrian civil war in favor of Moscow’s long-time ally Bashar Assad. President Vladimir Putin earlier this month ordered a partial withdrawal from Syria but said Russia would keep its military presence there.
The State Duma on Thursday voted to ratify an agreement with Syria, submitted by Putin, for Russia to keep its warships at the Mediterranean base in Tartus for 49 years. The agreement allows Russia to keep 11 vessels there at a time including nuclear-powered ships.
Russia also operates an air base in Syria.”
This guarantees that Assad will remain in power, Putin will prop him up to maintain the fiction that Russia isn’t directly in control of that section of Syria. With Iran and Hezbollah taking control of other regions of Syria the Christian community and other religious minorities need to run to the Russian area for protection. If Putin has as much brains as he is reported to have he will encourage this migration and will recruit the military age males into a militia lead by the Russian Contractors to provide part of the security for the port and the Russian region,
Bundy mistrial: Prosecutors withheld evidence of ‘incredible bias,’ misconduct by BLM
By LU Staff December 21, 2017
A federal judge declared a mistrial in the case against Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy after prosecutors willfully withheld evidence showing that government agents behaved illegally during a 2014 standoff.
Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed jurors Wednesday nearly one month after a trial began against Bundy and his sons, Ammon and Ryan Bundy, both of whom were accused three years ago of leading an armed standoff with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Navarro showed evidence suggesting prosecutors refused to produce records showing agents conducting surveillance on the Bundy Ranch, and threat assessments about the Bundys dating back to 2012. The prosecutors also did not disclose unredacted FBI logs about activity at the ranch in the days around the standoff.
BLM Special Agent Larry Wooten investigated earlier this year the agency’s behavior leading up to the standoff and found “incredible bias” and widespread misconduct and likely illegal actions by the BLM. Prosecutors shared the information with the Bundy’s attorneys after the investigation was made public Dec. 17.

Aid group says Yemen cholera outbreak has infected 1 million (abcnews, Dec 21, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/aid-group-yemen-cholera-outbreak-infected-million-51927115
“The International Committee of the Red Cross says around 1 million people in war-ravaged Yemen are believed to have been infected in a cholera outbreak that began last year.
The outbreak, which began in October 2016 and escalated in April, has killed more than 2,000 people.
The Red Cross said Thursday that more than 80 percent of Yemen’s population lacks food, fuel, clean water and access to medical care.
A Saudi-led coalition has been at war with Iranian-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen since March 2015. The fighting has killed more than 10,000 people, displaced 3 million and damaged critical infrastructure, fueling the cholera outbreak.
Even before the war, Yemen was the Arab world’s poorest country.”
This is a preview to what is coming in the Middle East and other war torn regions. We are facing the possiblity of a return to the era where diseases kill more people then combat.
Could wipe out 10 million in Yemen alone and not make a dent.
Give it time, if I am right about what is coming a very large dent will be made.

Not So DearIslam, please purchase a farking clue. More Sunni and Shiite deaths all translate into greater peace within the West. What’s not to like? Please face the question squarely…
When Islamic powers finally understand that pouring endless youthful bodies into the intramural jihadist meat-grinder only makes the kaffir world that much safer for Western powers, maybe then they might purchase a clue about how counterproductive it is to conduct fights amongst each other and (nonetheless seek to war) against the much-more-powerful West at the same time.
Of course, seeing these futile and annihilative internecine struggles only manages to warm the cockles of my own merciless, Infidel heart. Go figure.
The time is long past for Islam to halt its constant internal strife. Fortunately, depleted Muslim IQs are too frequently incapable of realizing this. All of which makes it that much more imperative for me to open a well-chilled magnum of fine Champagne.
As Napoleon was known to say:
NEVER STOP YOUR ENEMY WHILE HE IS IN THE MIDST OF MAKING A MISTAKE.

Franken announces a date for his departure
By Ben Bowles December 21, 2017
Most weddings are planned with less fanfare. Despite complaints of railroading by his fellow Democrats in the Senate and encouragement from them to stand his ground, Minnesota Sen. Al Franken will formally leave the Senate on Jan. 2, 2018.
His replacement, Minnesota Lt. Gov. Tina Smith, who was appointed a week after Franken grudgingly announced he would step down amid allegations of sexual misconduct, will serve until a special election can be held next year to complete Franken’s term, which ends in 2020.
Although Franken went out kicking and screaming, grumbling that “a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office,” the name that will be most associated with his ouster is Roy Moore. The calls for Franken to step down came at a time when it appeared that Moore, despite his own accusers of sexual misconduct, might pull out a victory for a vacant Senate seat from Alabama.
Democratic lawmakers from the top down saw calling for Franken’s head a calculated gamble that they were willing to take. That way, they could cynically claim the moral high ground in the event Moore did win, and call immediately for his own resignation.
As it turns out, Moore lost his election and Democrats lost their bet.

Richard: There are already efforts to rehabilitate Franken, I doubt if he will run for like some Dems are supposedly wanting. I do see him trying to take the position of Elder statesman offering advice about all political questions. We will have to wait and see how that will play out.
Half the Saudi population receiving welfare in new system (abcnews, Dec 21, 2017)

“Saudi Arabia paid 2 billion riyals ($533 million) on Thursday in the first monthly installment of a new welfare system for low and middle-income families that make up approximately half of the kingdom’s population.
The payments come ahead of the introduction of a 5 percent value-added tax on most goods, like food and services, as well as subsidy cuts that will raise the price of electricity and gasoline next year.
Minister of Labor and Social Development Ali al-Ghafees told the state-run Saudi Press Agency that bank transfers were made to approximately 3 million families, reaching around 10.6 million beneficiaries. He said half of those families received the maximum payment of 938 riyals ($250). The minimum payment is 300 riyals ($80).
Around 20 percent of those who applied for the assistance did not qualify, however…”
NYT runs piece highlighting NYC pipe bomber’s charitable work
By Ben Bowles December 20, 2017
Who said The New York Times doesn’t have the holiday spirit? A week after Bangladeshi national Akayed Ullah detonated a pipe bomb near New York City’s bustling Port Authority Bus Terminal at the height of rush hour, claiming he was inspired by ISIS, the Times turned the other cheek.
On Tuesday, the paper of record ran a story with the headline “Subway Bomb Suspect’s Mysterious Act of Mercy.” The focus of the piece was on Ullah’s charity work in his native country to help Rohingya refugees who had fled neighboring Myanmar.
The tribute, by Times writer Jeffrey Gettleman, chronicles how the selfless Ullah made an all-night bus trip across Bangladesh on a visit home to dispense “a few hundred dollars of medicine in the crowded refugee camps.” What a guy! Anyone else seeing sainthood written all over this 27-year-old?
In fact, the deplorable conditions in which he found the Rohingya may have been factor in his decision upon returning home to New York to try to kill as many heathens as he could.

Acid Attack ‘No Go Zones’ in London, Admits Labour MP (breitbart, Dec 21, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/21/acid-attack-no-go-zones-london-labour-mp/
“The frequency of acid attacks in London has turned parts of the British capital into “no go zones”, a former Labour minister has said.
The United Kingdom has “the highest rate of attacks per capita” in the world, claimed Stephen Timms, Labour MP for East Ham, in comments to fellow MPs reported by the Daily Mail.
Figures show the number of acid attacks in Britain shot up between 2012 and 2016 by more than 500 per cent. There were just 73 recorded attacks in 2012 but a massive 469 in 2016.
“The UK now has one of the highest rates of recorded acid and corrosive substance attacks per capita in the world and this number appears to be rising,” admitted Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Kearton, the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) lead on acid attacks, earlier this month.
Some left-wingers have argued that No Go Zones are an invention of the right, however, they have been written about extensively by journalists who have investigated the issue and visited them.
Politicians had been debating the UK’s problem with acid attacks on Wednesday, and Mr. Timms demanded the government take “significant action”.
He said: “I’ve had a number of discussions with representatives of moped delivery drivers and they say there are now parts of London where their drivers are not willing to go because of the danger of attack.
“I think all of us would regard it as unacceptable that there are no go areas in parts of London and parts of the UK. I think it requires some significant action to deal with the problem.”…”

Poll: 70 Per Cent of Swiss Would Be ‘Disturbed’ by Increase in Muslim Population (breitbart, Dec 21, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/21/poll-70-percent-swiss-disturbed-increase-muslim-population/
“A poll has revealed that a large majority of Swiss citizens — 70 per cent — would be “disturbed” if the country’s Muslim population were to increase.
The survey, which was conducted by the publishing firm Tamedia, is the first of its kind in Switzerland, and shows the older generations is particularly concerned with the growth of Islam in the country: 75 per cent of those aged over 65 feel negative about an increase in the Muslim population, newspaper 24 heures reports.
Supporters of the anti-mass migration Swiss People’s Party (SVP) were also strongly against an increase in the Muslim population, with 93 per cent against the further growth of Islam in the country.
72 per cent of “centrists” felt the same way, as did a significant minority — 38 per cent — of supporters of the left-wing Green and Socialist parties.
Christophe Monnot, a researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of Religions at the University of Lausanne and member of the Research Group on Islam in Switzerland (GRAY), said the “internal tensions that shake Islam reflect in the public space and make this religion all the more visible.”
Monnot cited radical Islamic activist Nora Illi who protested the full-face Islamic veil ban enacted by the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino last year as an example of this.
Ms. Illi also recently protested the banning of the Islamic veil in Austria, being arrested along with several others by police in Vienna.
Switzerland has had its share of problems with radical Islamic extremism in recent years, including a radical imam who called on believers to murder moderate Muslims and was later arrested.
The Swiss poll mirrors similar attitudes in France and Germany, where residents have massively rejected the expansion of Islam into their countries.”
Hungary Vows to Fight EU’s ‘Soros Plan’ Migrant Quotas, Sends Guards to Help Macedonia Protect Its Borders (breitbart, Dec 21, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/21/hungary-vows-fight-eus-soros-plan-migrant-quotas-sends-guards-help-macedonia-protect-borders/
“Hungary has vowed to continue resisting EU attempts to impose compulsory migrant quotas, and will even send men and material to neighbouring Macedonia to help it protect its borders.
Lajos Kósa, a member of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s conservative government, warned that the network of so-called “civil society” organisations linked to George Soros — the billionaire financier and open borders activist the Hungarians believe is behind the quota scheme — are ramping up their efforts to push for its implementation.
Kósa cited Soros’s transfer of 130 million Hungarian forints to the Association of Alternative Communities (AKE), one of several NGOs he described as “sham charity civil organizations” whose primary purpose is really “political activities”.
Not content to remain on the defensive, however, Hungary has also announced it will send men and materials to Macedonia, which lies nearby but outside the European Union and not directly on its borders, to help it strengthen and patrol its border with Greece, until at least October 2018.
Swamped by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants at the height of the migrant crisis itself, Hungary was one of the first countries in Europe to recognise that a robust, no-nonsense approach was needed, rapidly rolling out a protective fence along its frontiers which was later reinforced and upgraded with monitoring equipment, and manned by a significantly expanded border force.
Budapest’s strong borders approach achieved results — illegal immigration was cut by over 99 per cent — but was unpopular in Brussels, where the European Commissioner for Migration has argued that a massive inflow of non-Europeans is “is deeply intertwined with our policies [and] an economic and social imperative for an ageing continent”.
Indeed, the EU establishment is seeking to “manage” the migrant crisis by redistributing migrants throughout its member-states through a compulsory quota system, and also establishing “legal routes” to Europe from Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.”

Justin Trudeau Violated Ethics Rules by Vacationing on Islamic Leader’s Private Island (breitbart, Dec 21, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/21/justin-trudeau-found-violation-ethics-laws-private-visit-island-islamic-leader/
“Canada’s Justin Trudeau has been declared in violation of several ethics rules after failing to properly disclose the free vacations he was given on the private island of the Aga Khan, which the Islamic leader could have provided to influence him.
Prime Minister Trudeau and his family visited the private island of the Islamic leader in the Bahamas last year from December 26th 2016 to January 4th o2017.
Canadian Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson began an investigation into the visits earlier this year and on Wednesday released a lengthy report showing Trudeau broke several ethics rules.
The report claims that Trudeau violated four sections of the Conflict of Interest Act. Trudeau did not publicly disclose the trips, which could be a conflict of interest violating section 5 of the act.
Trudeau also violated section 11, with the commissioner writing: “I found that these gifts could reasonably be seen to have been given to influence Mr. Trudeau in the exercise of an official power, duty or function and, therefore, that Mr Trudeau contravened subsection 11(1) when he and members of his family accepted the Aga Khan’s gift of hospitality and the use of his private island.”
The Canadian leader was also found to have broken a rule against accepting private travel while in office and another rule “when he failed to recuse himself from two discussions during which he had an opportunity to improperly further the private interests of the Global Centre for Pluralism. Shortly before, Mr Trudeau’s family had vacationed on the Aga Khan’s private island.”…”
Left-Wing Politician Bemoans Lack of Police Action Against Migrant Criminals (breitbart, Dec 21, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/12/21/left-wing-politician-bemoans-lack-police-action-toward-migrant-criminals/
“Left-wing Green Party politician Peter Seifert has complained of a lack of action by German police against migrant criminals, increasing the popularity of the anti-mass migration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
In a letter to a local newspaper, Seifert, who serves on the city council in Balingen, wrote a personal account of his experiences with a violent drunken asylum seeker, Die Welt reports.
Seifert said he was forced to call the police because the migrant was “rioting”. Officers initially came and arrested him, but he “came back after three-quarters of an hour to continue where he left off before”.
When Seifert tried to confront the asylum seeker he was told “I kill you” as the migrant drew his thumb across his neck.

How to pronounce threats and insults that do not seem to interest you. How we work hard to earn the money that such subjects use at our expense,” Seifert wrote.
He also claimed that police told his colleague to delete pictures of the offending migrant he had taken on his phone because they might violate the asylum seeker’s privacy.
“Slowly it gives the impression that we live in the wrong world,” he said.
Seifert quoted the Green party mayor of Tübingen, who said: “We must not hide facts, just because they do not fit into our worldview.”
“We leave it to the AfD to discuss such abuses, and wonder that they get more and more votes,” Seifert added, and warned of concealing information like the ethnic background of suspects would only strengthen the populist party.
The members of the AfD have been the most vocal critics of mass migration and migrant crime in Germany and achieved an electoral breakthrough in September’s national election, placing third.
They also look to become the official opposition, as Chancellor Angela Merkel has been forced to look to the Social Democrats for a grand coalition after the failure of the so-called “Jamaica talks” with the Greens and the Free Democrats.
Mr Seifert’s complaints match those of others who have signalled the growing problem of migrant crime in Germany.
In some cities, migrants or non-Germans make up around 50 percent of suspects in criminal cases, and in areas like Berlin’s Alexanderplatz asylum seekers thought to be largely responsible for an uptick in violence, sex attacks, and drug dealing.”
Pentagon confirms U.S. ground operations in Yemen
WASHINGTON — The Defense Department on Wednesday acknowledged for the first time “multiple ground operations” in Yemen, while noting that the Islamic State has doubled in size in the war-torn country, where an insurgency by Houthi rebels has allowed terrorist groups to seek haven.
“U.S. forces have conducted multiple ground operations and more than 120 strikes in 2017,” said a statement from the U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida.
The goal is to “disrupt the ability of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS-Yemen to use ungoverned spaces in Yemen as a hub for terrorist recruiting, training and base of operations to export terror worldwide.”
Before Wednesday’s statement, the extent of the U.S. counterterrorism operations in Yemen was unknown under the Trump administration, with only sporadic acknowledgement of U.S. military operations there. Unlike the campaign in Syria and Iraq against the Islamic State, the Defense Department did not provide regular updates on either air or ground operations in Yemen.
In January, officials acknowledged a ground raid against al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula after Navy Seals encountered stiff resistance that left a Seal, William “Ryan” Owens, dead.
President Donald Trump called that raid a “huge success,” a characterization that many in his own party, including Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., criticized.
The announcement came as the White House sought to use passage of a tax reform bill to celebrate what officials view as victories, both on Capitol Hill and on the battlefield. Vice President Mike Pence said the Islamic State’s “so-called caliphate has crumbled across Syria and Iraq,” as he praised Trump’s approach to fighting ISIS across the globe.
Earlier this month, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that Iraqi security forces had defeated ISIS in Iraq. U.S. officials congratulated them on their victory, but insisted that difficult days lie ahead.
“Right now, clearly ISIS is getting broken,” Defense Secretary James Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon last week. “The fight is not over with them. Don’t believe it when somebody says that ISIS is completely down.”
Military officials have been bracing for ISIS to look for safe havens from Africa to Afghanistan as it has lost territory in Iraq and Syria.
On the Horn of Africa, airstrikes against ISIS affiliates in Somalia have accelerated. In October, an ISIS-linked group ambushed a Green Beret-led team in Niger leaving four American soldiers dead, the largest loss on the continent since two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down in Somalia in 1993.
In the announcement about ISIS in Yemen, the Defense Department also said it had killed three senior al Qaeda leaders last month and 50 ISIS Yemen combatants at two training camps in October.

Germany: Israeli restaurant owner responds to ‘shocking’ anti-Semitic attack
Owner of the eponymous Feinberg’s restaurant Yorai Feinberg endured what he called a ‘shocking’ anti-Semitic attack when a 60-year-old German man insulted him outside his restaurant in Schoeneberg, Berlin, on Tuesday.
Feinberg and his girlfriend Camila Thomas immediately recorded the attack after being confronted by racist abuse in broad daylight in central Berlin. The video recorded by the restaurant owner and his girlfriend was published on Facebook and quickly went viral.
According to Feinberg, the entire incident was “shocking”.
“It started with the typical Israel is bad story. Then Trump is bad. Then go to the gas chambers, in five years you will be dead”, he recounted.

Chinese Troops Arrive in Syria to Fight Chinese Muslim Uyghur Rebels
Chinese Army special forces from the “Night Tigers” unit have been dispatched by Beijing to Syria to fight the Uyghurs, the Muslim Chinese ethnic group in the rebel forces fighting the Assad regime, Arab media close to Assad reported.
The Chinese military has been present in Syria since mid-2016 to train Syrian forces on Chinese-made weapons and contain the possible flow back to China of hundreds of Uyghur fighters, fully trained for guerrilla warfare.

THE GROWING RISK OF AN ISRAEL – IRAN CONFRONTATION IN SYRIA
In Israel, much attention has centered on Iranian plans for the establishment of a sphere of direct influence stretching from its borders to the Mediterranean, and the consolidation of a military front against Israel in Syria and Lebanon.
Iran strives to build and permanently deploy in Syria a sizable proxy army. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force built and increasingly leaned on semiregular militia forces including 100,000 Syrians in the locally based National Defense Forces, fashioned after the Iranian paramilitary Basij forces.
No less important are the non-Syrian militias of 20,000-25,000 Shia fighters belonging to Lebanese Hizbullah, Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces elements, the Afghani Fatemiyoun brigade, and the Pakistani Zainabiyoun brigade – all commanded by an Iranian contingent of 1,000-2,000 military personnel.
Iran is now working to establish a “Syrian Hizbullah,” comprising tens of thousands of mostly Shia and Alawite members.
Israel views Iran’s moves in Syria as a major long-term strategic threat. If realized, they would not only turn Syria into an Iranian protectorate, but also entrench Iran – a regime sworn to Israel’s destruction – in a neighboring country, thereby enabling it to transform Syria into a terrorist and military front against Israel.
In a possible future military confrontation in its north, Israel will face not only an active Lebanese front but a Syrian one as well, where Israel expects to encounter battle-hardened Hizbullah and other “Shia legions,” along with a rehabilitated Syrian army. These forces will all rely on the Iranian military presence, military infrastructure, and a substantial rocket arsenal, adding to Hizbullah’s current arsenal of 120,000 rockets in Lebanon.
Countering Iranian plans in Syria would be much better served if Israel’s deterrent actions fit within a broader, proactive U.S. strategy to block Iran in the region, rather than Israel shouldering most of the burden alone.

Sea of Galilee to Be Replenished with Desalinated Water
With the Sea of Galilee dropping to dangerously low levels as Israel faced a fifth year of reduced rainfall, Israel’s Water Authority will begin pumping desalinated water into the freshwater lake, Hadashot TV reported Monday.
Last year, northern Israel received just 10% of the average winter rain.

The Unsilent Coup
George Neumayr
The left calls for the overthrow of Trump, then criticizes conservatives for noticing it.
The scolds of the chattering class have spent the last few days rebuking Fox News for wondering aloud if a “coup in America” is underway. Such talk is “irresponsible,” say the Brian Stelters. According to their estimate, warning of a coup is more “inflammatory” than engaging in one. All these suddenly prim nincompoops appear on networks or host shows that regularly feature pols calling for Trump’s impeachment on the most trivial grounds, former “intelligence” officials who encourage insubordination if not insurrection, and pundits who insist that Trump’s cabinet and executive agencies defy him.
Much of the media’s energy is devoted to calling for a de facto coup. The premise of practically every story, from the travel ban to the most basic executive appointments, is that it is somehow “controversial” for a duly elected president to use the powers vested in the executive branch. Trump is apparently not to hire or fire anybody, should never tell executive agencies what to do, should take, not give, orders from diplomats and bureaucrats, should submit to all acts of judicial activism, must never criticize Congress, and should in general stop offering any opinions at all. All of this is deemed “unpresidential” and “scandalous” by the media.
It is comic the lengths to which the media will go to try to mau-mau a Republican president into passivity while seeking to maximize the power of unelected officials. The more undemocratic the figure (provided he is liberal), the more the media demands that his power go unchecked. The media loves bureaucrats, regulators, career diplomats, unelected judges, and other assorted “experts.” They wear the white hats in almost all of the media’s stories while elected officials wear the black ones. This week, for example, the New York Times decreed it a scandal of “censorship” that Trump is pulling the plug on propaganda at the Centers for Disease Control. The head of the executive branch controlling his own executive agencies is cast by the Times as sinister — a “continuing effort to mute, censor, and spy on employees in federal agencies whose words or views don’t sync with President Trump’s agenda.” How dare Trump not let unelected policy analysts treat the CDC like their own personal think tank — that’s the upshot of the complaint.

Dems Already Preparing to Blame Russia for Next Election Loss
December 21, 2017
Daniel Greenfield
The Dems have developed a very simple election strategy.
1. Pump up claims of an inevitable victory using fake polls and fake news.
2. If you win, claim that your victory is a complete repudiation of the GOP.
3. If you lose, shout that the only possible way your inevitable candidate could have lost to a GOP candidate is if the election had been hacked.
I’m going to speculate that whether or not this is an issue will depend retroactively on how well the Dems perform in ’18.

Clinton Judge: Enforcing the Law Inconveniences Illegal Aliens
December 21, 2017
Daniel Greenfield

Also arresting drug dealers inconveniences drug cartels. And I’m pretty sure that most criminals don’t like being arrested. Maybe this Clinton appointed Federal judge can help them out.
1. That’s generally true of every policy. It just isn’t a valid argument for overruling the President of the United States. Every major piece of legislation inconveniences someone. ObamaCare kicked large numbers people out of their health insurance policies. Somehow I doubt Judge William Alsup would have sympathized with them. It’s one thing to ‘inconvenience’ ranchers, car dealers or members of the military whose health care was cut. But no one had better inconvenience an official Dem victim group.
2. When the people being inconvenienced are here illegally, they ought to be inconvenienced.

Melbourne’s crime-gang cultural enrichment:
Immigrants to Australia must embrace Western values and assimilate
Rita Panahi, Herald Sun
December 20, 2017
There is enough crime in Australia without successive governments importing large numbers of people incapable or unwilling to respect our laws.
Elements of the Lebanese and Sudanese population continue to be over-represented in crime statistics, dramatically so in some categories.
Sudanese-born youth are more than 120 times as likely to commit an aggravated burglary, according to Victorian Crime Statistics Agency figures.
We learnt last year that two-thirds of those arrested for terrorism-related offences in Australia were from second- and third-generation Lebanese Muslim backgrounds.
And yet the mere mention of this by Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, who noted the folly of Malcolm Fraser’s “Lebanon concession”, sent the usual race-baiting malcontents into a victim-playing frenzy with predictable cries of “racism” and “xenophobia”.
Lebanese Muslim Association president Samier Dandan accused the government of having a “toxic, assimilationist, nationalist” agenda and labelled Dutton’s comments “racist”, while Fairfax feminists called for his sacking.
Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young called Dutton “a racist bigot” and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten demanded he apologise for his “ignorant stupidity” and the “disgraceful comments he made about migrants in Australia”.
The Left’s customary reaction to inconvenient yet indisputable facts is to scream “Nazi, racist, bigot, Islamophobe” in the hope of silencing opposing views.
Such smears can be an effective tool in shutting down debate but they do not change the data or the incidence of violent crime.
Figures released this year show that in 2016, one in seven Sudanese-born Victorians aged 10 to 24 was charged with a crime.
Muslims are dramatically over-represented in the prison population: 9 per cent of prisoners, including 20 per cent of maximum-security prisoners, are from Muslim backgrounds.
A remarkable figure, given only about 3 per cent of the population identify as Muslim.
The statistics mirror what we’ve seen in NSW, and present serious concerns for the criminal justice system, particularly given the growing Muslim population in Australia.
Of course, most crime in this country is committed by Australian-born offenders, given that they are the vast majority of the population. But it is the extraordinary over-representation of some groups that needs attention.
Last week, we saw hundreds of “youths of African appearance” involved in a prolonged brawl around the St Kilda foreshore. Over several hours, they were involved in assaults, thefts and property damage, and yet police failed to make an arrest.
Inspector Jason Kelly said: “Their behaviour was just totally unacceptable, and I’d call on them to come forward … before we track them down.”
Surely such obvious criminality in a public place should see scores arrested, not just a call for the culprits to come in at their leisure.
Later that same day, County Court judge Elizabeth Gaynor allowed a young offender, who was spared jail despite arming himself with a sledgehammer during terrifying jewellery store robberies that netted over $200,000, to holiday in Sudan while on bail.
The decision was made despite concerns from prosecutors that Akon Mawien, 20, was a flight risk.
Is it any wonder that people are losing faith in the justice system?
As someone who has long advocated for both Australia’s high skilled immigration intake, as well as our generous humanitarian program, I understand the damage that is done when a minority of immigrants fail to assimilate.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of migrants are proud, productive members of Australian society and many migrant communities are under-represented in crime and imprisonment rates.
New Australians are often more patriotic and protective of this country than those fortunate enough to have been born here.
For many of us, this is truly the lucky country: welcoming, tolerant, peaceful and prosperous.
But for any individual or group to successfully integrate into Australian life, there needs to be an adherence to certain non-negotiables, including respecting the law.
Assimilation is not a dirty word. It is not only desirable, but imperative for a cohesive society.
If you can’t embrace core Western values of freedom, democracy and equality, then you have no business migrating to Australia.
