  13. South Korea FIRES 249 bullets at Chinese ships as WW3 tensions reach breaking point

A WAR between South Korea and China was nearly sparked yesterday after 249 shots were fired at ships “swarming around” near the coast.

A group of Chinese fishing boats were grouping around a patrol ship in South Korean waters, its coastguard said.

The act of aggression led to 249 warning shots being fired at the boats – prompting a call for restraint from Beijing.

South Korean coastguard vessels regularly chase Chinese boats suspected of fishing illegally in its waters.

This comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin mocked Britain for its lack of warships.

  14. Africa could become a security threat unless we give it LOTS of money says minister (express, Dec 20, 2017)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/894318/rory-stewart-dr-congo-africa-security-threat-minister-money

“BRITAIN and Europe face a “major security threat” from Africa within the next decade without international aid support, a minister has warned.

Rory Stewart, the minister for Africa, said there was a “possibility” that terror groups on the continent could link up with wider groups such as al Qaida, whose Islamist ideology and Jihad aims can be “supercharged” worldwide.

His comments came as the Government announced £30million of aid to tackle an “acute humanitarian crisis” in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mr Stewart said the crisis was “on top of extreme underlying poverty” in the central African country, where earlier this month rebels attacked a United Nations peacekeeping base.

He said: “The attack in Beni in which 14 peacekeepers were killed and 45 injured was an Islamist group, so at the moment that is an Islamist group which is pretty poorly understood, which tends to seem to focus on terrorism on the DRC/Ugandan border.

“But we know for sure that in the past many apparently indigenous groups like the Taliban have begun to connect themselves with external facing groups like al Qaida because their Islamist ideology and their vision of Jihad can easily be supercharged into an international basis.”

Mr Stewart warned that while that had not yet happened in Africa, there was a chance it could in the “medium term”.

“By which I mean if you look at ADF in DRC, if you look at al-Shabab in Somalia, if you look at Boko Haram in north-east Nigeria, if you look the Islamic State in Malia – at the moment these are not seen by the US or the UK as much as a fundamental threat as foreign fighters coming out of Syria or Iraq.

“But if you look forward five, 10 years, unless we create the preconditions for some basic security, some development, some employment, Africa is more and more likely to become one of the major security threats to Europe.

“And even before you worry about terrorism, there will be a significant risk of migration because 18 million Africans enter the job market every year, and at the moment unemployment rates in many parts of Africa are at about 85 per cent so most of those people don’t get jobs.”…”

  16. WH Confirms N. Korea Was Behind Wannacry Malware Attack

Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert confirms North Korea was behind the WannaCry ransomware attack, which infected computers in more than 70 countries earlier this year.

In a press briefing from the White House Tuesday, Bossert said the North Korean regime has been acting especially bad in the past decade when it comes to hacking in foreign nations.

He called on governments and businesses to cooperate, assuring the U.S. will lead the effort while saying Facebook and Microsoft played a crucial role in curtailing the North Korean hacking scheme.

“After careful investigation the United States is publicly attributing the massive WannaCry cyber attack to North Korea,” announced Brossert. “We do not make this allegation lightly…we do so with evidence and we do so with partners.”

The Homeland Security adviser said several other nations including the U.K have joined the U.S. in denouncing North Korea over the malware attacks.

  17. Speaking of Hezbollah’s criminal racket, the Awans sure fit its profile
By LU Staff December 20, 2017

knew Daily Caller’s Luke Rosiak would be coming out with this update after Josh Meyer’s Politico post on Hezbollah and the Obama administration. Rosiak is the one to write this. I would add only that, although the Awans did financial business with some of the same financial institutions implicated in the U.S. charges filed in December 2011 (see below), there was nothing eye-catching in that. The banks involved – e.g., PNC Bank – are so big that having loans and other accounts with them is not a stand-out feature.

There doesn’t seem to be a direct, readily documentable connection between the Awans’ car dealership and the entities involved in the Hezbollah scheme. That includes any links with the 30 dealerships named in the 2011 charging document (which, as Josh Meyer outlines, was a good start, but never had the punch it would have if the administration had pursued the tougher charges it had the evidence for). Still, Luke Rosiak shows that the profile of the Awans’ own little scheme is very similar to what Josh Meyer described in his article.

The differences in the Awans’ case are two. One, they had access for more than a decade to an extraordinary amount of information from inside the United States House of Representatives. They were being highly paid by House Democrats for services that most of the time were not even clear.

Two, the Awans’ potential link to Hezbollah was an exceptional one: Dr. Ali Al-Attar, one of the Iraqis who advised U.S. officials in DOD on post-war planning before the 2003 invasion. Al-Attar is an Iraqi Shia, at least one of whose parents is reportedly Iranian, and who lived in Lebanon after being kicked out of Iraq in 1980 (when the Iran-Iraq War started), and got his medical license in Beirut (see Rosiak’s links for some of these facts).

  18. ‘The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy’
    By J.E. Dyer December 19, 2017

It’s not astonishing that there are politicians and pundits decrying the veto speech made on Monday by UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, when she registered the United States’ objection to the draft UN Security Council Resolution on Jerusalem.

But it still has an impact, to see people anxious to disavow the acknowledged privileges of national sovereignty. Those privileges are actually enshrined in the United Nations Charter. There would be no UN if they weren’t. Few would agree to belong to an organization that didn’t acknowledge the necessity for sovereign nationhood.

Sovereign nationhood is why you can sleep in your bed at night, unmolested, while your children sleep a few feet away, secure in the roof over their heads and the food your labor will provide them tomorrow, without you having to spend your life on your knees to an imperial master.

Sovereign nationhood is why you don’t have to stay awake every minute of every day, perched on your own roof with weapons at the ready to fight off marauding tribesmen from the next geographic feature over.

  19. Trump Nat’l Security Adviser: President asked us to prepare ‘military option’ for North Korea
By LU Staff December 19, 2017

White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster stressed Tuesday that the U.S. must “act urgently” to curb North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.

“As this regime continues to perfect its long range nuclear capabilities, it’s just a risk that the world cannot tolerate,” McMaster told PBS NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff. He called for increased pressure in coordination with allies and international partners, highlighting the need for proper sanctions implementation.

McMaster has repeatedly warned that America is running out of time to resolve this problem peacefully, as the North is rapidly advancing its nuclear and ballistic missile development programs. North Korea has successfully tested five new missiles, including two intercontinental ballistic missiles theoretically able to reach anywhere in the continental U.S. The rogue regime also detonated a suspected staged thermonuclear bomb built to destroy cities.

  20. Rosie O’Donnell publicly offered bribes to two U.S. senators to vote no on tax bill
By Howard Portnoy December 20, 2017

On Tuesday, the House and the Senate voted to pass the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which after a brief retooling by the House, will head to the president’s desk for his signature.

The measure will deliver a tax cut to 80% of Americans, but Democratic lawmakers are in full denial mode, claiming the measure is a ploy to rob the poor while lining the pockets of the rich. Obviously, they would prefer the status quo, where the government directs taxpayer funds toward such nationally beneficial ends as buying the silence of rape accusers.

The passage has triggered liberal celebrities as well, none more than Trump-hater Rosie O’Donnell, who is so convinced that the law will “f*ck the nation” (her words) that she is willing to do jail time for her beliefs.

The text will also call for nations, including the US, not to relocate their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. To date, the US is the only country who said it will do so.

  22. Muslim Suing Little Caesars For $100 Million Hears 4 Words That Make Him Instantly Drop It

Recently, a man filed a $100-million lawsuit against Little Caesars Pizza for allegedly feeding him pork instead of halal pepperoni. However, it only took 4 words from the franchise manager to have him dropping the lawsuit as quickly as he could.

According to the left, Muslims simply want tolerance and acceptance of their religious beliefs. Of course, their pleas for coexistence quickly turn to demands for Sharia recognition, special privilege, and accommodation of their endless religious compulsions. When these demands go unfulfilled or simply fail to meet their standards, threats and legal action are sure to follow.

While the tiny Muslim minority in the U.S. is perfecting the manipulation of our laws against us, we are finding that many of their grievances are either frivolous or completely fabricated. Unfortunately for one Muslim man, he forgot to tie up the loose ends in one of the most corrupt lawsuits in recent history.

Earlier this year, Dearborn resident Mohamad Bazzi and his convert wife, Michelle Meade, acquired the legal services of attorney Majed Moughni, a fellow Muslim who gained notoriety for suing a local KFC for serving a Yemeni-American couple bacon on their chicken sandwiches.

Hoping for a massive payout and to serve as a warning to Americans not to violate Sharia law, Bazzi and Moughni demanded a whopping $100-million in compensation for ingesting the pork product. However, they won’t be seeing a penny after hearing the franchise manager’s simple response.

In an unexpected twist, Moughni and his Muslim client have dropped the $100-million lawsuit shortly after the Dearborn-based restaurant manager revealed to the media that Bazzi had “ordered a regular pepperoni” but wanted a halal sticker placed on the box to make it seem as if the restaurant had sabotaged his order, Fox News reports. Not only will Moughni and his clients receive nothing for their relentless efforts, but Little Caesars also recently filed a counter lawsuit against Bazzi for “frivolous actions.”

Of course, Moughni wasn’t about to admit his attempt to scam the chain out of millions, instead claiming that he chose to drop the case because he has received multiple death threats against him and his 11-year-old daughter, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Majed Moughni, who is Muslim and of Arab descent, said he decided to drop the two remaining lawsuits after receiving threats on social media from a man who sent him an instant message on Facebook on Oct. 26 that read: “You better stop your lawsuit against Little Caesars you” followed by an expletive and a racial slur used against Arabs and blacks.

In addition, the man then posted to his Twitter account a tweet with photos of Moughni and family members, including his daughter, that read: “Muslim lawyer who wants to sue #LittleCaesars for $100,000,000 and his wife’s Facebook, daughter goes to” followed by the name of a school she attends, according to screenshots taken by Moughni.

While most lawyers would summon their aptitude for the law by taking these threat-makers to court instead of kowtowing to their demands, Moughni suspiciously threw out his clients’ major lawsuit simply because of a few threatening messages sent via social media, which almost anyone who speaks ill of Islam receives on a daily basis.

Of course, Moughni knows that it’s Muslims who tend to make good on these types of threats. Still, he makes a teary-eyed attempt to gain sympathy and direct our attention toward “Islamophobia” and anti-Muslim hate crimes, most of which turn out to be purely fabricated or committed by fellow Muslims.

The man who made the threats openly describes himself as a “white nationalist,” “homophobe,” and Donald Trump supporter, which gives off the stench of a fake account created to make Moughni the victim. The terms used by the social media account echo the exact lingo that leftists and their Muslim allies specifically use toward conservatives but that conservatives do not use to describe themselves.

Much to Moughni’s dismay, the police informed him that they won’t be pursuing his case against the man because they didn’t believe the messages contained actual threats. Expectedly, Moughni resorted to the typical rhetoric utilized by Muslims, accusing the police of Islamophobia.

For them, “it’s not a crime to threaten a Muslim attorney and his family,” Moughni said.

This only provides further evidence that not only was Moughni likely spearheading a fraudulent suit but also that he’s not very good at his job. In fact, the Muslim attorney already had this lawsuit thrown out of court for failure to provide evidence of their claim.

“Little Caesars is extremely pleased with the court’s complete dismissal of this meritless claim,” the company said in the statement.

Moughni and his Muslim clients are demonstrating the ideal form of conquest in a powerful, progressive democracy. While Muslims have vanquished societies by the sword for over 1,400 years, they’ve discovered that using our laws, liberties, and political correctness against us is a more effective way to bring the West under Sharia rule.

“The European Union’s top court ruled Wednesday that the bloc’s divorce regulations don’t cover private agreements, throwing a case back to a Munich court to decide whether to recognize a divorce granted under religious Sharia law to a couple who are both Syrian-German.

Raja Mamisch and Soha Sahyouni, who married in Syria and live in Germany, had been granted a divorce in 2013 in Syria in an Islamic Sharia law proceeding. The case came to Europe when Mamisch applied to have the divorce recognized in Germany and the Munich state court ruled the EU’s “Rome III” regulation applied and granted his application.

But Sahyouni appealed to the Munich court, which asked for the European Court of Justice’s opinion, which in turn ruled that Rome III doesn’t apply to such “private” divorces.

The court sent the case back to Munich, saying it needs to decide under national law.

The Munich court said it could not comment on what might happen next in the case until it receives the full European Court of Justice decision.”

Kanter’s passport was revoked by Turkish authorities earlier this year, and an arrest warrant was issued after he was named a “fugitive” by a Turkish court over his support for U.S-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara accuses of orchestrating an attempted coup in July 2016.

Kanter is a long-time supporter of Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999 and whose extradition Erdogan is seeking. Gulen denies involvement in the failed putsch.

The indictment on Wednesday said Kanter used Twitter to “defame and deride” Erdogan, Anadolu said.

The 6-foot-11-inch centre tweeted on Wednesday in response to the indictment, adding screenshots of the media reports.

“I have said less than that honourless (man) deserves. Add another 4 years for me, master,” he told his 526,000 Twitter followers.

Kanter was detained in Romania in May when authorities learned his Turkish passport had been revoked. He later returned to the United States…”

  29. Israeli Politician Demands Obama Return Nobel Peace Prize After Hezbollah Report

A bombshell report on Sunday revealed that former President Barack Obama intentionally sabotaged a major federal investigation into the Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah because he did not want the investigation to interfere with the Iran deal. Now an Israeli politician is demanding that Obama return the Nobel Peace Prize that he won — an award that he did little to nothing to earn.

The Politico report outlines how the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had gathered evidence that Hezbollah had grown into a major international crime syndicate that was earning approximately $1 billion per year. The federal agency launched “Project Cassandra” — a major federal investigation into Hezbollah — which the Obama administration derailed by throwing an “increasingly insurmountable series of roadblocks in its way.”

  30. NETANYAHU ADDRESSES EU FOREIGN MINISTERS
Stressing Jerusalem’s importance to the Jewish people and to Israelis.
    December 20, 2017
    Joseph Puder

As part of his political tour of Europe, on Monday (December 11, 2017), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed the European Union’s foreign ministers in Brussels, Belgium. Netanyahu also serves as Israel’s Foreign Minister. At the center of Netanyahu’s address was a call to the foreign ministers to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Last week’s historic announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, bolstered Netanyahu to call on the Europeans to do the same. In addition to Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, he also set in motion the physical move of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The visit to the EU headquarters was the first for an Israeli prime minister in 22 years.

Netanyahu articulated Jerusalem’s importance to the Jewish people and to Israelis. He said “I believe that all, or most, of the European countries will move their embassies to Jerusalem, recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and engage robustly with us for security, prosperity and peace.” Following his meeting with the EU foreign ministers, Netanyahu issued a statement saying that “Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital doesn’t obviate peace, it makes peace possible, because recognizing reality is the substance of peace, it’s the foundation of peace.”

Netanyahu, in addressing the EU foreign ministers, reminded them that Israel is in the frontline of the war against Islamist terrorism. He thanked Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and the government of Lithuania for inviting him, and said, “Europe and Israel are important partners in three main areas: in the area of security, in the area of prosperity, in the area of peace. In security, Israeli intelligence has prevented dozens of terrorist attacks, many of them on European soil, and I think countless lives have been saved as a result of this cooperation that is well known to the security services of many European governments.

  31. Why Would a Trump Admin Official Want His Office Swept for Bugs?
    December 20, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

I can’t think of one possible explanation for this. Not one.

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had his office professionally examined earlier this year to look for covert surveillance devices.

The EPA paid $3,000 in March to Edwin Steinmetz Associates to do a “sweep for covert/illegal surveillance devices” in Administrator Scott Pruitt’s office at the agency’s Washington, D.C., headquarters, documents provided to The Hill show.

Like other security measures, the EPA defended the surveillance sweep as a response to unprecedented threats against Pruitt, whose aggressive deregulatory agenda has angered environmentalists and many others.

“Administrator Pruitt has received an unprecedented amount of threats against him and security decisions are made by EPA’s Protective Service Detail,” EPA spokesman Jahan Wilcox said.

Lisa Jackson, who was EPA administrator from 2009 to 2013 under former President Obama, also had a similar security sweep undertaken in the office, Wilcox said.

Doug Parker, who worked at the EPA for 25 years, mostly as a special agent in the criminal investigation division, said a bug sweep of the administrator’s office is unusual.

It’s not like members of the Obama administration have eavesdropped on members of the Trump administration, generated fake investigations of them and convicted them not of an actual crime, but of lying to the investigators. So this is just completely and utterly inexplicable. It’s not like we live in some sort of police state in which an investigation consisting of Hillary and Obama supporters have violated attorney-client privilege (with the aid of a Democrat Federal judge), illegally seized transition team materials from the GSA and in which FBI agents wanted “insurance” against Trump winning.

So this is baffling. Utterly baffling.

  32. Trump Makes Space Great Again
Muslim self-esteem may be one of the casualties.
    December 20, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

“Foremost,” the NASA administrator described his marching orders from Obama, “he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world.” The great new mission of America’s space agency would be to make Muslims “feel good about their historic contribution to science.”

President Trump has another mission for NASA.

Looking over at former Senator Schmitt, the last living man to walk on the moon in the Apollo 17 mission forty-five years ago, President Trump said, “Today, we pledge that he will not be the last.”

“This time, we will not only plant our flag and leave our footprint, we will establish a foundation for an eventual mission to Mars and, perhaps, someday to many worlds beyond.”

The message was clear. American greatness would no longer be held hostage to political correctness.

Obama had reimagined NASA as an “Earth Improvement Agency” that would push Global Warming and Muslim self-esteem. NASA’s iconic shuttles were turned into museum pieces. The replacement vehicles were sidelined. Bush era plans to go the Moon and Mars were thrown out. What was left of NASA’s space exploration was reduced to buying tickets on rickety Russian Soyuz rockets just to get into space.

And the Russians jacked up the price.

  33. President Trump’s America First National Security Strategy
Principled realism finally comes to the fore.
    December 20, 2017
    Joseph Klein

President Trump unveiled a new National Security Strategy on December 18th, which is driven by “principled realism that is guided by outcomes, not ideology.” It is based on a sober evaluation of the world as it really is, not as some wish it to be. Policy makers responsible for America’s national security must remain fully cognizant that, as the National Security Strategy document puts it, “a central continuity in history is the contest for power.” This includes economic as well as military power. Today is no different, except that the threats to America’s national security come not only from major Cold War era global players such as Russia and China. They also come from rogue countries such as North Korea, already equipped with nuclear weapons and intercontinental missiles, and Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism that harbors nuclear ambitions. And the threats come from Islamic terrorists acting out a hateful jihadist ideology that “justifies murder and slavery, promotes repression, and seeks to undermine the American way of life.”

The Trump administration’s National Security Strategy is a much-needed corrective to the misguided foreign policies of the Obama era. The Obama administration avoided confronting challenges to U.S. national security head-on. It preferred instead to engage in what it called “strategic patience” with North Korea. The Obama administration enabled Iran to mimic North Korea’s path to becoming a nuclear armed nation via its disastrous nuclear deal with Iran. The Obama administration’s foreign policy of “leading from behind,” political correctness and micromanagement of battlefield decisions by bureaucrats in the White House hindered the fight against jihadist terrorist groups. Refusing to acknowledge the common radical Islamist ideology that links the jihadist groups together world-wide compounded the problem. The Obama administration also rushed into multilateral agreements that jeopardized America’s economic security, most notably the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

  34. Mueller’s Sinister Coup Attempt
The special counsel threatens the rule of law by stealing Trump transition documents.
    December 20, 2017
    Matthew Vadum

The unprecedented theft of thousands of likely privileged Trump transition emails by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller’s investigators is yet more proof that the open-ended fishing expedition is continuing to move forward with its effort to reverse the results of the 2016 election.

News of the misappropriation of the email tranches comes weeks after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) urged that Mueller quit or be fired, saying the independent prosecutor has “indisputable” conflicts of interest.

“We are at risk of a coup d’état in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly-elected president of the United States,” Gaetz said, echoing earlier remarks by writer Michael Walsh who asserts the Left is engaged in a “rolling coup attempt” against President Trump.

Monday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” author Mark Steyn said, “I see no reason at all why a guy who is supposed to be investigating Russian interference in an election that took place on November the 8th should be able to seize, effectively, an incoming government’s entire confidential communications between each other in the period after the election took place. That seems to be entirely unwarranted by Mueller.”

Trump himself was more restrained in his rhetoric.

  35. Trump Returns “Jihad” to Intelligence
But will it reverse decades of entrenched indoctrination?
    December 20, 2017
    Raymond Ibrahim

President Trump’s new national security strategy is set to return words relevant to understanding Islamic terrorism—such as “jihad”—that had been expunged from the Intelligence and Defense communities’ lexicon, most notably under the Obama administration. According to the new strategy document, “The primary transnational threats Americans face are from jihadist terrorists and transnational criminal organizations”; the document also vows to “pursue threats to their source, so that jihadist terrorists are stopped before they ever reach our borders.”

This is significant on several levels—the first being as basic as “knowing one’s enemy,” which President Obama had refused to do. In 2011 it was reported that “the Obama administration was pulling back all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam that some Muslim groups have claimed are offensive.” One Obama official explained the logic: “I want to be perfectly clear about this: training materials that portray Islam as a religion of violence or with a tendency towards violence are wrong, they are offensive, and they are contrary to everything that this president, this attorney general and Department of Justice stands for. They will not be tolerated.”

It should be noted, however, that the politically correct induced paralysis that Obama championed was already well entrenched before him. Speaking in 2006 during the George W. Bush administration, William Gawthrop, a former Pentagon official, said “the senior Service colleges of the Department of Defense had not incorporated into their curriculum a systematic study of Muhammad as a military or political leader. As a consequence, we still do not have an in-depth understanding of the war-fighting doctrine laid down by Muhammad, how it might be applied today by an increasing number of Islamic groups, or how it might be countered.”

  36. Brookings Now Just Running Qatari-Iranian Propaganda
    December 20, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

Let’s say you’re a state sponsor of Islamic terror with links to 9/11, which prominent American think-tank do you pick up for pennies on the dollar? How about Qatar?

A September New York Times exposé revealed Qatar’s status as the single largest foreign donor to the Brookings Institution. Qatar gave Brookings $14.8 million in 2013, $100,000 in 2012 and $2.9 million in 2011. In 2002, Qatar started subsidizing the Brookings outreach program to the Muslim World which has continues today. Between 2002 and 2010, Brookings never disclosed the annual amount of funds provided by the Government of Qatar.

“If a member of Congress is using the Brookings reports, they should be aware — they are not getting the full story. They may not be getting a false story, but they are not getting the full story.” Ali noted that he had been told during his job interview that taking positions critical of the Qatari government in papers would not be allowed, a claim Brookings

    vigorously denies.

Since Qatar is now part of the Iranian coalition, Brookings has a hilarious explainer on Iran’s Houthi terrorists in Yemen. “Who are the Houthis, and why are we at war with them?”

You’ll be shocked to learn that Qatar, I mean Brookings, has determined that the Houthis are misunderstood, and far more moderate than Iran, and our backing for the Saudi embargo has aligned them with Iran and Hezbollah. If only we reach out to them… etc

  37. France: ‘There will be total anarchy’ – Hundreds decry Macron’s Labour reform

French Trade Unionists gathered in Paris’ Opera Square on Wednesday, to demonstrate against French President Emmanuel Macron’s planned labour and tax reforms.

Hundreds of protesters brandished red smoke canisters as they marched to the Ministry of Labour, carrying flags and banners. Protesters claim that the cuts implemented by Macron’s reforms of the labour market, will hurt the commerce and services sector workers.

“It is a total violation of the labour code and we consider these reforms dangerous”, said trade union (CGT) representative Yanick. “The government is cutting the branch it is sitting on. Tomorrow there will be nothing to return to the state treasury, and there will be a total anarchy”, he added.

  38. Berkeley City Council Fired Jewish Commissioner for Not Boycotting Jewish State
    December 20, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

This is the sort of garden variety bigotry that BDS inevitably leads to.

A member of the Berkeley City Council has been accused of applying a political litmus test regarding support for Israel to a sitting commissioner, who was dismissed when he did not provide a sufficient answer.

According to a Dec. 14 article in Berkeleyside, Cheryl Davila, who was elected to the Berkeley City Council last year, dismissed Transportation Commissioner Ben Gerhardstein last month after he declined to state a position on whether Berkeley should divest from companies that do business with Israel.

Gerhardstein, who was appointed by a former City Council member, provided Berkeleyside with an email chain backing up his assertion.

“You indicated that a non-transportation issue was important to you in selecting a transportation commissioner,” Gerhardstein wrote to Davila on Nov. 27 after he had been removed from the commission. “During our first meeting, you noted that as a Human Welfare and Community Action Commissioner, you authored a recommendation to Council to divest from companies benefiting from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, which raised your profile.

“You said that the issue was important to you and you asked whether I was pro-Palestinian (and supported divestment) or a Zionist. You noted that you were asking all potential District 2 commissioners this question and suggested that you were only interested in appointing divestment supporters to commissions.”

  39. Greece: At least 10 injured following violent brawl at Moria camp

At least 10 people were injured when a violent brawl broke out between migrants at the Moria camp on the Greek island of Lesbos on Tuesday night. More than 60 people were reportedly involved in the fight.

Groups of Afghan and Iraqi nationals became embroiled in the brawl, which saw tents being destroyed and fires started. Riot police was called to the scene.

  40. It’s Time to Examine Who We Are as a Country
    December 20, 2017
    Daniel Greenfield

Sally Yates, Obama’s #Resistance DOJ official has a message for all of us. It’s the same message Obama incessantly wheedled us with. It’s about “who we are”.

Over the course of our nation’s history, we have faced inflection points — times when we had to decide who we are as a country and what we stand for. Now is such a time. Beyond policy disagreements and partisan gamesmanship, there is something much more fundamental hanging in the balance. Will we remain faithful to our country’s core values?

Those core values apparently being racism. Or something.

When the Declaration of Independence proclaimed that all men are created equal, hundreds of thousands of African Americans were being enslaved by their fellow Americans.

Not so long ago, all across the Jim Crow South, our country’s definition was defiled by lynchings, the systematic disenfranchisement of African-American voters, and the burning of freedom riders’ buses. And still today, we have yet to realize fully our nation’s promise of equal justice.

Yes I agree. Sally Yates should be very ashamed of her party’s policy of lynching black people to appease white racists and then lynching white people to appease black racists. The last one was DOJ policy under her boss. Right down to legalizing voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party.

That’s why Democratic and Republican administrations alike, at least since Watergate, have honored that the rule of law requires a strict separation between the Justice Department and the White House on criminal cases and investigations.

    Sure.

That’s why Obama’s AG was chatting with Bill Clinton before giving his wife a pass. It’s why her predecessor was held in contempt by Congress. It’s why Obama’s DOJ took opposition research from Hillary Clinton and turned it into a pretext for eavesdropping and prosecuting Trump administration members.

This wall of separation is what ensures the public can have confidence that the criminal process is not being used as a sword to go after one’s political enemies or as a shield to protect those in power. It’s what separates us from an autocracy.

So Sally Yates is admitting that under Obama, the country became an autocracy? Because those were the DOJ’s functions under Obama.

Anyway it’s time to examine who were are as a country. Obama style.

We stand true to our core values by outlawing freedom of speech, eliminating due process on college campuses, smuggling money to terrorists, protecting terrorists drug lords, arresting a filmmaker for a movie that Muslims didn’t like and then spying on the political opposition to protect domestic policies ranging from the Iran Deal to the Clinton succession.

This is who Sally Yates and the Dems think we are as a country. And they think it’s all justified because the alternative to them is Jim Crow.

  41. Special Report
    The Unsilent Coup

    conservatives for noticing it.

The scolds of the chattering class have spent the last few days rebuking Fox News for wondering aloud if a “coup in America” is underway. Such talk is “irresponsible,” say the Brian Stelters. According to their estimate, warning of a coup is more “inflammatory” than engaging in one. All these suddenly prim nincompoops appear on networks or host shows that regularly feature pols calling for Trump’s impeachment on the most trivial grounds, former “intelligence” officials who encourage insubordination if not insurrection, and pundits who insist that Trump’s cabinet and executive agencies defy him.

Much of the media’s energy is devoted to calling for a de facto coup. The premise of practically every story, from the travel ban to the most basic executive appointments, is that it is somehow “controversial” for a duly elected president to use the powers vested in the executive branch. Trump is apparently not to hire or fire anybody, should never tell executive agencies what to do, should take, not give, orders from diplomats and bureaucrats, should submit to all acts of judicial activism, must never criticize Congress, and should in general stop offering any opinions at all. All of this is deemed “unpresidential” and “scandalous” by the media.

It is comic the lengths to which the media will go to try to mau-mau a Republican president into passivity while seeking to maximize the power of unelected officials. The more undemocratic the figure (provided he is liberal), the more the media demands that his power go unchecked. The media loves bureaucrats, regulators, career diplomats, unelected judges, and other assorted “experts.” They wear the white hats in almost all of the media’s stories while elected officials wear the black ones. This week, for example, the New York Times decreed it a scandal of “censorship” that Trump is pulling the plug on propaganda at the Centers for Disease Control. The head of the executive branch controlling his own executive agencies is cast by the Times as sinister — a “continuing effort to mute, censor, and spy on employees in federal agencies whose words or views don’t sync with President Trump’s agenda.” How dare Trump not let unelected policy analysts treat the CDC like their own personal think tank — that’s the upshot of the complaint.
