    Richard, thank you for risking repeated emphasis of this all-too-serious problem.

    Be it HIV/AIDS, meningitis, MDR-TB* (Multi-Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis), various hemorrhagic fevers, polio—or just the routinely high rates of birth defects that Islam’s horrific tradition of consanguineous marriage continues to generate—this entire devil’s cornucopia of death and destruction can be traced back, in some degree, to roots in Islamic evil.

    Seemingly off topic, some people here may recall Tracy Kidder, author of the excellent non-fiction high technology account, “The Soul of a New Machine” (which chronicled Data General’s Eclipse MV/8000) as it arose to challenge Digital Electronics Corporation for supremacy in the 1981 world of emerging minicomputers.

    To elucidate, long before this age of desktop (much less) laptop or tablet devices, rack-mounted minicomputers represented the first genuine threat to massive and astronomically expensive digital mainframes being built by “IBM and the Seven Dwarfs”: as in Burroughs, UNIVAC, NCR, Control Data, Honeywell, General Electric and RCA.

    Kidder won both the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction and the 1982 National Book Award for Nonfiction with his superb narrative of cutting edge technology that, more often than not, read like a page-turning detective potboiler rather than a well-documented, historically accurate account.

    The reason for such a lengthy preamble is because this same writer then went on to pen, “Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World”. This absorbing 2003 biography traces the life of physician and anthropologist, Paul Farmer, with particular focus on his work fighting (Multi-Drug-Resistant) tuberculosis in Haiti, Peru and Russia.

    To put this in context, there are few more thankless tasks than attempting to halt the spread of MDR-TB. Both difficult to track or quell—and insanely expensive to treat—it is a prime example of the “poor people’s diseases” (along with HIV/AIDS, malaria, and yellow fever) which profit-oriented Big Pharma has so little interest in defeating. More about that in another sidebar some other time.

    All of which returns us to your own deep (and well-justified) concern about the reemergence of these (once-thought-to-be-extinct) plague epidemics.

    My second paragraph’s laundry list of contagions being vectored by Merkel’s (et al) “immivaders” is (as you well know) an issue of paramount importance. I’m willing to wager that you recall how—at the dawn of this new millennia—polio was on the verge of total obliteration; a supreme goal of the global medical community.

    Instead—as part of a concerted effort to curtail any positive perception of Western medical assistance or disaster relief—Islamic clerics in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Africa spread disinformation that the polio serums were laced with sterilizing compounds intended to reduce Muslim fertility. Absent any stronger evidence, the article’s mention about patients being “scared of needles” is pure hogwash. With so many African “cultures” committing mass genocides with machetes, being “scared of needles” just doesn’t seem to fit in.

    What’s one end result of this misinformation? A resurgence in polio outbreaks that have managed to thwart what previously appeared to be a countdown for its worldwide eradication.

    With the millions (if not billions) being spent on global polio eradication efforts, this setback is no small matter. Some estimates indicate almost $1 billion per year being expended towards this just this one medical goal. Instead—much like the exorbitantly expensive Muslim birth defects currently draining public health care coffers throughout Europe—these counterproductive propaganda efforts to turn people away from successful immunization or treatment all point towards a far more sinister agenda.

    I call this, the “Silent Jihad” (essay to follow in a few weeks months). While seemingly identical to the more-well-known “Economic Jihad” (or “Slow Jihad), the insidious aspects of tapping out Western health care resources—while expanding levels of international exposure to exceptionally dangerous strains of infections once thought to be at the brink of vanishing—have implications which are far more disturbing.

    One thing is certain. Opponents of Trump’s travel ban (with their last dying breath) will stubbornly deny that the reappearance of these bacterial and viral scourges have anything to do with The Religion of Peace™ or its coterie of mass-murdering psychopaths.

    They would sooner see the modern world lulled into a lethally false sense of security than ever admit that—much like with their own dedicated efforts to deconstruct Western Civilization—Islam cares nothing about death tolls (kuffar or Muslim) just so long that such fatalities propel the West’s downfall (e.g., via Islamic theocracy).

    Even today, not many people comprehend the depths of depravity that escort Islam’s constant sorties against the West. Far fewer understand the sacrifices that many of Islam’s most influential clerics and politicians view as worthwhile.

    As in, there are extremists who would prefer to see this entire planet denuded of every last living man, woman, and child (plus LBGTQXYZs)—with Muslims in their raisin-strewn paradise and the kuffar collectively roasting in everlasting hell—rather than see this world trod upon by even a single unbeliever.

    Imagine being willing to watch your entire nation turned into one massive self-immolating bomb vest attacker as part of annihilating the “Little Satan” (i.e., Israel) or, by far more desirable, the “Great Satan”, as in America.

    I leave you with this quotation from Assaholla Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini:

    “We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world.”

    Epilogue: For those who are unable to interpret the above excerpt, in essence, Khomeini is declaring that having the whole nation of Iran (along with its entire population) vanish in a flash or three of nuclear detonations is just hunky-dory so long as Islam eradicates Israel (especially) and, possibly, America as well. Of equal import is to note how there is no distinction made between the ascendance of Shiite or Sunni Islam. At the very least, this should serve as a wake-up call with respect to current Saudi-Iranian festivities.

    Of course, what goat-humping morons like Khomeini and his ilk would never admit is that—even with America and Israel miraculously swept from the chessboard—there would nonetheless remain Russia, Red China, India, France, and other potential (nuclear-armed) foes who might not hesitate to reduce the entire Muslim world into ionized vapor, so long as that’s what it took to prevent Islamic domination.

    Returning to Richard’s well-founded concerns:

    Intentionally—or merely as a byproduct of thwarting relief efforts and inadvertently assisting the spread of these modern plagues—seeking to depopulate the civilized world with such anti-human scheming is something that, sooner or later, will reward Muslim populations with whatever combination of nuclear, biological, or chemical preemption (or retaliation).

    Taking into consideration the Koran’s mandatory dictat of violent jihad for all able-bodied Muslims, this disastrous outcome is merely a matter of time. Applied modern science—evidently, quite the nettlesome task for Islam—will find a way to turn aside most, if not all, of these biological threats.

    Far less likely is any Muslim ability to counter the world’s collective wrath over constant mass-murder, atrocities, slavery, pedophilia, institutionalized misogyny, violent theocracy, predatory depopulation of neighboring countries, invasions, and the extensive laundry list of general mayhem, cruelty, and tyranny that Islam is so justly famous for.

    Much like these newest outbreaks, Islam remains what it always has been … a plague upon this world.

    • In the long run plagues will do more damage to civilization then nuclear weapons. IF/when this one breaks out of Africa it will give many of the bad actors in the world the idea that they can release bio weapons to change the world.

      • Epidemics are built into the process. Kept the population down in hellholes. Who paid attention to regular seige of cholera in Yemen, for example?

        I’m not about to follow every breathless report Express or The Sun gloms on to. We can speculate and grab every hint about biowarfare, but that’s just a waste of time.

        The information the public gets is mostly wrong and fake. Professionals who talk don’t know; those who do don’t talk.

    Way of the Future “is about creating a peaceful and respectful transition of who is in charge of the planet from people to people + ‘machines,’” the religion’s official website reads. “Given that technology will ‘relatively soon’ be able to surpass human abilities, we want to help educate people about this exciting future and prepare a smooth transition.”

    Stephen Hawking should be allowed to repeatedly run his wheelchair over all of these demented idiots until they no longer pose a threat to human life.

Sweden’s National Council on Crime Prevention released their latest Swedish Crime Survey on Wednesday which revealed that a growing number of Swedes are victims of crime, when compared to figures from previous years. The figures, which are for 2016, revealed that crime levels are at their highest since records began in 2006.

    In total, more than 15% of people surveyed said that they had been a victim of at least one crime in 2016; a figure which is up from 13.3% the previous year.

      “Crimes against the person in Sweden have risen to “the highest level since measurements began”, according to the latest National Security Survey.

      “Vulnerability to fraud, sexual offences and harassment has increased,” confesses a press release issued by the Scandinavian country’s Crime Prevention Council (Brå).

      Fully 15.6 per cent of the population aged 16-79 were subjected to abuse, threats, sexual offences, personal property, fraud, or harassment in 2016, based on a sample of 12,000 people.

      Brå notes that “young women aged 16-24 are the most vulnerable to sexual offences”, and reveals that an astonishing 14 per cent of young women in that age group — and 1.2 per cent of young men — were “subjected to at least one such crime” in 2016.

      Worryingly, the Crime Prevention Council’s data suggests that only 11 per cent of those exposed to sexual offences in 2016 reported them to the police, with the figures for harassment and threats similarly low, at 26 per cent and 23 per cent, respectively.

      “The most common reason for not reporting the crime is that the victim does not believe the police can do anything,” admitted Thomas Hvitfeldt, Unit Manager at Brå.

      Åsa Strid, Hvitfeld’s deputy, tried to suggest that while young women are now “not only more vulnerable to harassment, [but] also more often subjected to sexual offences”, there are “no answers to why a type of crime increases” — or not any recorded in their data, at any rate.

      Swedish media reported in September that crime reports at piling up so rapidly that even very serious incidents, such as child rapes and gang rapes, are being left uninvestigated for extended periods of time due to lack of resources.

      “It is difficult to explain why rape cases pile up, but the other crimes are considered even more serious. It is a no-win situation we have to choose from,” confessed Torgny Söderberg, head of the police investigation unit in Stockholm.

      Few seem willing to link Sweden’s growing crime wave with an enthusiasm for EU-sponsored mass migration on a par with Angela Merkel’s Germany.

      Lawyer Elisabeth Fritz has claimed that a majority of suspects in rape cases are migrants and urged Sweden to “lift the lid” on the issue.

      Police are reluctant to record the ethnicity of suspects, and the government have refused to release detailed information on the relationship between crime and the growth of migrant communities.”

  7. The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia issued a ruling forbidding war against the Jews and proclaiming that Hamas is a terror group.

    The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, issued a surprising religious ruling, saying that fighting against Israel was inappropriate and that Hamas is a “terror organization.”

    The Muslim cleric issued the ruling while answering a question on a television program regarding the Palestinian riots surrounding the Temple Mount in July, Turkey’s Anadolu news agency reported.

    Israel’s Communications Minister Ayoub Kara welcomed the unexpected decision and invited the Mufti to visit Israel.

      … let’s not go too far in interpreting what all this means. The Trump administration’s efforts to “fast-forward” Israeli/Saudi relations have not succeeded. As part of its efforts to promote an Israeli/Palestinian peace plan, there are reports that the administration asked the Saudis to do things like permitting overflights of Saudi Arabia by El Al and having some public meetings with Israeli officials. Israel would make concessions to the Palestinian Authority and freeze some settlement activity in exchange.

      The problem here is that the Saudis are right now getting the military and intelligence cooperation they appear to want from Israel—in secret. Public collaboration with Israel or concessions to it would be politically dangerous for the Saudi government, at a moment when to say the very least its plate is full. The last thing it would appear to need is more political controversy stirring up internal criticism and opposition.

      The Trump administration was counting on Saudi and pan-Arab desire to help the Palestinians and help the “peace process” to overcome Arab desires to avoid political danger, but that was an over-estimation of the degree of Arab official concern about the Palestinians. Arab regimes do care about the Palestinians but they care about themselves and their own political health far more.

  8. Yes another person with extremely close ties to Hillary Clinton has died a mysterious death, and after seeing what he was involved with it’s hard not to question if foul play was involved.

    Houston, Texas trial lawyer and Democrat mega donor Steve Mostyn died on Thursday in what authorities are saying was a “suicide,” according to the Houston Chronicle. Mr. Mostyn was only 46, he left behind a wife and several children, and earlier this year had announced that he was going to be stepping away from politics to spend more time with his family.

  10. George Soros decries Hungary’s PM Orban for anti-Semitic attacks ‘reminiscent of the 1930s’

    Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros is denouncing a propaganda campaign waged against him by the government in his native country.

    Soros, whose political views are in stark contrast to Budapest’s ruling Fidesz party, said Monday he had been targeted by an administration “stoking anti-Muslim sentiment and employing anti-Semitic tropes reminiscent of the 1930s.”

    In a statement published on his website, Soros also rejected seven statements in a “national consultation” orchestrated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government, which claimed he wanted to settle at least 1 million migrants a year in Europe and pay them each thousands of euros.

    Passengers will soon be boarding British Airways planes according to how much they paid for their flights.

    From next month, those who pay the lowest fares will have to wait at the departure gate and board after everyone else.

    The carrier will introduce a ‘group boarding’ system on all its flights from December 12.

    When passengers check in they will be assigned a group number between one and five which will be printed on their boarding pass.

  13. Women working for Clinton, Sanders campaigns come forward with sexual harassment claims

    Staffers for each of the Democratic Party finalists have come forward to tell tales of rampant sexual harassment on the campaign trail that was wholly ignored by the powers that be. Almost as surprising is that the media vehicle publishing their story was the very left-wing Huffington Post.

    Lilian Adams, who worked for Team Hillary, and Zoey Jordan Salsbury, who joined team Bernie, separately told the HuffPo that they were preyed upon by fellow campaign workers and that the campaigns were “ill-equipped” to cope.

    In May 2016, Adams relocated to Colorado to work for Clinton as a paid organizer. It was in the Colorado office that she says she faced harassment from a fellow organizer.

  17. College May Add Fat People to Diversity Program for Special Protections

    Sociology professor Andrea Hunt of the University of North Alabama wants her school to add “body size” to the college diversity curriculum so that fat students and teachers will no longer have to put up with the “weight-based microaggressions” they currently deal with from day to day.

    Hunt is the recent author of an article called “Fat Pedagogy and Microaggressions: Experiences of Professionals Working in Higher Education Settings,” which is a fancy way of saying: Chunky people are not happy and the school needs to do something about it. But that doesn’t sound very college-y, so we understand why she chose the title she did.

    In the course of writing this article, Hunt interviewed 13 overweight administrators about the perils of walking around school with a spare tire hanging over their belts. And when you see their complaints, you’ll notice that these “microaggressions” are not what you might believe them to be at first. No one’s necessarily calling these administrators “fatso” or putting gym advertisements in their mail cubbyholes. No, this is a lot more…ahem…subtle.

  19. Robot Makers Fill Their War Chests in Fight Against Amazon
    Locus Robotics is raising serious cash in its bid to automate warehouses, bringing industry investment to $70 million this year.

    A few years ago, Amazon.com Inc. triggered a robot arms race when it purchased a company called Kiva Systems, maker of automated warehouse robots. Now its would-be rivals are landing bigger and bigger cash injections to try to compete with the e-commerce giant.

    Locus Robotics, a spinoff of a warehouse company that decided to build its own robots after the Amazon deal in 2012, raised another $25 million in venture capital, bringing its total funding to more than $33 million, the company announced last week.

    The new cash for Locus followed a $15 million injection in July for 6 River Systems Inc., a robotics company founded by ex-Kiva executives. In March, China warehouse robotics startup Geek+, which boasts Alibaba as a client, raised $22 million. Competitor RightHand added $8 million in venture funding this year as well.

  21. Woman says Franken inappropriately touched her in 2010

    (CNN)A woman says Sen. Al Franken inappropriately touched her in 2010, telling CNN that he grabbed her buttocks while taking a photo at the Minnesota State Fair.
    It is the first allegation of improper touching by Franken, who is a Democrat, while he was in office. It comes just days after Leeann Tweeden, a local radio news anchor in California, said that Franken forcibly kissed and groped her in 2006, when Franken was a comedian.
    Franken has since issued an apology to Tweeden and faces a potential investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee.

  22. Special counsel sends wide-ranging request for documents to Justice Department

    Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team investigating whether President Donald Trump sought to obstruct a federal inquiry into connections between his presidential campaign and Russian operatives has now directed the Justice Department to turn over a broad array of documents, ABC News has learned.

    In particular, Mueller’s investigators are keen to obtain emails related to the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the earlier decision of Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the entire matter, according to a source who has not seen the specific request but was told about it.

    Issued within the past month, the directive marks the special counsel’s first records request to the Justice Department, and it means Mueller is now demanding documents from the department overseeing his investigation.

    As Americans become more aware the killings/attacks in Europe, the U.S. and elsewhere by muslims actually find their basis in Islamic doctrine, the more likely they are to resist the actions of the Islamic Movement.

    The Islamic Movement knows this.

    Non-muslims will know everything they need to know about sharia when it is fully imposed on them. For now, Islamic leaders lie to the extent they need to to keep Americans/Westerners from knowing the full truth about the danger of Islam/sharia.

    As a reminder, 100% of sharia mandates lying for muslims to non-muslims when the objective is obligatory…like in jihad.

    As thoughtful Americans grow in their understanding that Islam/sharia is the threat, the more truthful leaders of the Islamic Movement are about Islam and sharia. Their goal is to keep us off target just far enough and long enough until they reach victory in this war.

    After 9/11, we were all told by muslim leaders “jihad” was a spiritual struggle to better oneself. Then, as Americans grew wise to the truth, Islamic leaders began telling us “jihad” can be warfare under certain conditions. Then CIA Director John Brennan told us “jihad’ was “holy war” in Islam. Today, we have people like Linda Sarsour openly calling for jihad against the President of the United States.

    When “moderate muslims” or others discuss Islam, and deny warfare against non-muslims is obligatory until Islam rules the world, they are either ignorant of sharia or lying about it. Either way, we should not be relying on these people to develop our victory strategy for us.

    Comments like these serve the purpose of the broader Islamic Movement, which is to keep as many people possible believing another “version” of Islam exists which is peaceful and loving.

    So long as that is accomplished, they will keep our leaders and decision-makers from ever developing the ability to defeat our enemy.

    Friendly forces can still work with these folks to advance our efforts so long as they understand Islam/sharia is the threat.

    We are 16 years after 9/11 and our Islamic enemy controls the narrative. The words they use like terrorism, peace, justice and others mean what Islam has them mean, not what they mean to us.

    ATHENS (Reuters) – Residents on the Greek island of Lesbos went on strike on Monday to protest against European policies they say have turned it into a “prison” for migrants and refugees.

    Islanders shut businesses, shops, municipal offices, nurseries and pharmacies and dozens rallied on a central square, calling on the government to transfer asylum-seekers to the mainland.

    “Lesbos is not a place of exile,” a banner read.

    Just a few miles from Turkey’s coast, Lesbos has borne the brunt of Europe’s migrant crisis. In 2015, nearly a million people – most fleeing Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan – landed on its shores before heading north, mainly to Germany.

    It is now hosting some 8,500 asylum-seekers in facilities designed to hold fewer than 3,000.

    “Lesbos is not an open prison, nor will we allow anyone to view it as such,” Mayor Spyros Galinos was quoted as saying by the Athens News Agency.

    Thousands of asylum-seekers have become stranded on Lesbos and four other islands close to Turkey since the EU agreed a deal with Ankara in March 2016 to shut down the route through Greece.

    Some have been moved to camps on the mainland, but authorities say the terms of the agreement prevent asylum-seekers from traveling beyond the islands.

    Rights groups have described conditions in camps across Greece as deplorable and unfit for humans. On Lesbos, violence often breaks out over delays in asylum procedures and poor living standards.

    “The message (today) was that we can’t take it any more,” Galinos said. “Lesbos is in a state of emergency.”

    There has been a major shift in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) with the elevation of Mohammed bin Salman to Crown Prince. The 32-year old prince presents his rise as heralding an era of modernity for the Kingdom, but his rise also involves consolidation of power internally. This power is likely to be projected through the Gulf region. The Saudis rightly recognize that Iran’s push for regional hegemony is a danger to their interests, one they will forcefully oppose as necessary. They have also taken a more potent role in opposing terror financing and in the post-ISIS situation in Iraq.

    It was in this new environment that Iran’s proxies executed a missile attack on the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The missile originated in Yemen, and was clearly of Iranian origin. KSA might have been expected to escalate its war in Yemen as a consequence. Instead, the Saudi government closed the border with Yemen and stated that Lebanon and Iran have declared war upon them. The Yemeni front represents a serious strategic interest for KSA, but the Saudis appear to be rejecting the bait dangled by Iran’s proxy forces in favor of another move. This paper will explore why the Saudis are acting as they are in response to that and their overall more active posture in the region. It will also offer some brief policy recommendations for the United States.

    Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros is denouncing a propaganda campaign waged against him by the government in his native country.

    Soros, whose political views are in stark contrast to Budapest’s ruling Fidesz party, said Monday he had been targeted by an administration “stoking anti-Muslim sentiment and employing anti-Semitic tropes reminiscent of the 1930s.”

    In a statement published on his website, Soros also rejected seven statements in a “national consultation” orchestrated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government, which claimed he wanted to settle at least 1 million migrants a year in Europe and pay them each thousands of euros.

    The Hungarian prime minister has often vilified the Jewish-born investor, whose ideals are squarely at odds with Orban’s view that European culture is under an existential threat from migration and multiculturalism. Orban has previously described Western liberalism as “spiritual suicide” for Central Europeans.

    ‘Lies and distortions’

    Orban launched a nationwide television and billboard advertising campaign in July accusing Soros of devising Europe’s refugee crisis. Critics of Orban’s drive to condemn the 87-year-old investor said posters were not dissimilar to the anti-Semitic imagery of the 1930s, which portrayed Jews as political manipulators.

    Meanwhile, the Fidesz party sent out 8 million letters to Hungarian citizens last month, attempting to provide further detail about Soros’ alleged political agenda.

    Soros responded publicly for the first time Monday and said attacks from Hungary’s government contained “lies and distortions” that were designed to create an “outside enemy.”

    • CBC – World Sikh Organization welcomes Canadian decision to allow small kirpans on flights

      The World Sikh Organization is welcoming new Canadian regulations that will allow Sikhs to wear SMALL ceremonial daggers on most flights.

      Transport Canada announced that, as of Nov. 27, it will update its Prohibited Items List to allow for blades of six centimetres or less (much smaller than the dagger pictured) on all domestic and international flights, except to the U.S.

      The new rules mean Sikhs can travel with a kirpan — a ceremonial blade that is worn sheathed and underneath clothing — so long as it’s small enough to meet the requirements.

      “This isn’t really a change based on religious accommodation,” Balpreet Singh, legal counsel for the World Sikh Organization (WSO), told As It Happens host Carol Off.

      “It’s a change that brings Canada in line with international standards.”

      The new rules bring Canada in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization, a Transport Canada spokesperson told As It Happens.

      Razor blades and box cutters of any size remain banned.

      The new rules also prohibit more than 350 millimetres of certain powders and granular materials, such as baby powder or bath salts, from being taken through screening checkpoints in Canada.

      “The safety and security of Canadians, the travelling public, and the transportation system are Transport Canada’s top priorities,” Transport Minister Marc Garneau said in a statement.

      “These changes to screening procedures will bring Canada in line with international standards and our partner countries, while continuing to keep passengers safe. The Government of Canada remains vigilant in continuously assessing security risks.”

      What is a kirpan?

      The kirpan is one of five articles of the Sikh faith. Devout Sikhs wear them at all times, sheathed and in a fabric belt holder, underneath their clothes.

      It is not considered a weapon by Sikhs, but rather a symbolic reminder to stand up against injustice for righteousness, Singh said.

      They were first banned for most air travel after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

      “The Sikh community went with that change and we respected the security conditions at that time and we said, ‘OK, Sikhs that want to travel by air will have to check their kirpans,'” Singh said.

      “But I guess the government has now recognized that small blades really aren’t an issue and Sikhs who wish to travel with the kirpan can do so, as long as it’s under six centimetres.”

      Kirpans in Canada

      Kirpans have long been a source of controversy in Canada, a fact that Singh is all too familiar with.

      In 2007, when he was still a law student, Singh won a human rights settlement against Via Rail after he was kicked off a train in Ottawa for wearing his kirpan.

      “Every single passenger in first class gets a steak knife to eat their meal,” he said. “Why would my kirpan be any more dangerous than a knife that every passenger is getting?”

      In 2006, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down a Quebec school board’s ban on kirpans in the classroom.

      The daggers are now allowed in most places that don’t permit weapons — including Parliament buildings and some courthouses — but are still banned in the Quebec legislature.

      Ultimately, Singh said, the fight for the right to wear a kirpan is not about changing rules and regulations, so much as changing hearts and minds.

      “Similarly with Via Rail, if you have a hockey player comes on with their hockey skates, no one looks at that person with any suspicion and there’s no malice understood on that person’s part. But, I mean, let’s face it, a guy with a turban and a beard coming on with what appears to be a quote-unquote knife is going to raise some concerns,” he said.

      “So for us, it’s been question of raising awareness of the fact that, hey, Sikh men and women wear the kirpan, it’s not worn as a weapon and we don’t see it as one.”

    A Durham detective who used slurs, called Islam “the religion of violence,” and shared police information on Twitter is facing professional discipline over his online comments.

    Detective Constable Richard Cain pleaded guilty to one count of professional misconduct earlier this year in connection with posts on his personal Twitter account. Cain scrubbed the account, but several tweets are quoted in an agreed statement of facts from an ongoing disciplinary hearing, released to VICE.
