It was my unquestionable impression that Vlad the Impaler created the world’s biggest kebabs. Please correct me if I’m off-track. Perhaps I’ve gotten the spices wrong …?
All the same, these particular “arrangements” certainly would seem to have required—from a record-breaking kebab standpoint—the lengthiest and most substantial skewers (as it were). It is my understanding that, the original “chefs” involved were drawn from highly talented pools of exceptionally skilled individuals whose ability to consistently avoid rupturing (during “preparation”) whatever intervening organs there were constituted a form of “deep” art (so to speak).
From what I am led to understand, keeping the skewered “ingredients” intact and in their “freshest” state was of the very highest priority with respect to tableside decor. At least according to Vlad the Impaler—with whom any arguments to the contrary really didn’t seem to be much of an option (at least … not for long).
The doner [kebab] weighed in at almost a ton, but broke due to its weight and needed to be cut in two.
And there you have it. Clearly, these inauthentic, novice, Berliner doner artistes simply haven’t anywhere near the sort of dexterity that our dear Uncle Vlad would have wished upon those who arrived in his court for a unique kebab experience.

Prime Minister Announces Spain Will Remove Catalonia’s Leader

WASHINGTON — President Trump signed an executive order Friday allowing the Air Force to recall as many as 1,000 retired pilots to active duty to address a shortage in combat fliers, the White House and Pentagon announced.
By law, only 25 retired officers can be brought back to serve in any one branch. Trump’s order removes those caps by expanding a state of national emergency declared by President George W. Bush after 9/11, signaling what could be a significant escalation in the 16-year-old global war on terror.
“We anticipate that the Secretary of Defense will delegate the authority to the Secretary of the Air Force to recall up to 1,000 retired pilots for up to three years,” Navy Cdr. Gary Ross, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.
But the executive order itself is not specific to the Air Force, and could conceivably be used in the future to call up more officers and in other branches.

ISIS Details Devastation of California Wildfires in Caliphate Newsletter
The Islamic State included a report on the California wildfires in the news briefs section of their weekly newsletter, noting the property damage estimates and death toll of blazes that were the “worst in the history” of the state.
ISIS, which has encouraged followers to try arson as a terror tactic, did not take credit for starting any of the blazes.
“Strong winds hindered the efforts” in fighting the blazes, the terror group noted in al-Naba, a 16-page color newsletter distributed within ISIS territory and online as a PDF, while citing California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as saying some bodies had been burned beyond recognition and would be difficult to identify. “Thousands of people became homeless,” ISIS said, adding stats from earlier in the week on “the most destructive fire in the history of the state.”

One woman is dead and seven others are in hospital in Poland after a man attacked them with a knife at a shopping mall.
A 27-year-old man has been detained after the attack in the south-eastern city of Stalowa Wola.
The man, who police believe was mentally unwell, entered Vivo shopping centre at around 3pm local time and started stabbing people in the back.
He is a resident of Stalowa Wola believed to be named Konrad according to local reports.

Wild boars rampage through German town, injure at least 4 people

BERLIN (AP) — Police say a pair of wild boars have gone on the rampage and injured at least four people in the northern German town of Heide.
Authorities warned people to stay indoors after the adult boars appeared early Friday and began aggressively attacking pedestrians. Public broadcaster NDR reported that at least one man had a finger partially bitten off.
Police said one of the boars was shot and killed outside a bank but the other is still on the run.
Heide is 100 kilometers (62 miles) northwest of Hamburg, near Germany’s North Sea coast and the border with Denmark.

Aggressive polar bears are holding locals in a Russian village hostage after being drawn to a nearby walrus rookery, leaving residents unable to venture outdoors.
The one tonne predators are thought to have forced hundreds of frightened walruses to jump off 125ft cliffs to their deaths before feasting on the carcasses.
Around 20 of the fearsome bears have surrounded the coastal area of Ryrkaypiy, population of 601, with one cub even trying to enter a house through the window.

The problem for mainstream media trying to turn every combat death on Trump’s watch into “Trump’s Benghazi” is not that other observers — whether Trump partisans or not — aren’t consistent. It’s that other observers are consistent.
It’s also that many observers tend to know more about military operations; enough, at least, to understand that the ambush attack on Special Forces in Niger, on 4 October, is different from the terror attack in Benghazi because everything about the two incidents…is different.

I knew this when I enlisted and anyone who doesn’t understand this when they enlist are too stupid to be allowed to serve. In recent weeks we’ve learned that former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power was responsible for requesting Americans be “unmasked” some 260 different times during her final year in the administration.
It’s an odd realization because Power was not leading one of our intelligence agencies or working in an investigative role. So why would she need such highly classified intelligence?
On Tuesday, the lead House investigator, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who heads the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News that she may not have done it at all.

“More than two weeks after four U.S. soldiers were killed during an ambush in Niger, new details about how the events unfolded have emerged.
A senior U.S. intelligence official familiar with the event tells ABC News that the U.S. troops saw early warning signs that something was wrong as they went to meet with the village elder in Tongo Tongo, Niger on October 4.
According to the official, suspicions were raised when the unit saw two motorcycles race out of the village.
“Hair on the back of the neck stood up,” the official said.
At that moment, the patrol sensed the elder was trying to stall the group from leaving, the official said. When they finally departed, the enemy struck from both sides of a wooded road with fifty or more fighters that had smalls arms, vehicle mounted weapons, and mortars.
“This was sophisticated,” the official continued, “Our guys not only got hit hard, but got hit in depth.”
It is still unclear how many U.S. soldiers were part of the patrol, but the Pentagon has said it was between eight and twelve Americans.
With four killed and two wounded during the firefight, the official said the American unit has for now been “rendered combat ineffective.”
Despite taking multiple casualties, the U.S. and Nigerien forces managed to kill at least twenty-one enemy fighters, who were later buried on the Malian side of the border, the official said.
“So while this was a tragedy, what’s gotten lost is how well our people acquitted themselves,” the official added, “We lost four but at least 21 from their side died.”
The Defense Intelligence Agency has assessed that the ambush was perpetrated by ISIS in the Greater Sahara, an ISIS affiliate in West Africa.
It’s still unclear why it took over 36 hours to recover Sgt. La David Johnson’s body from the battle space. The official told ABC News that Johnson’s locator beacon was giving unclear reports, and he seemed to be moving.
“Johnson’s equipment might have been taken,” the official said. “From what we now know, it didn’t seem like he was kidnapped and killed. He was somehow physically removed from where the combat took place.”
On Thursday, Joint Staff Director Lt. Gen. Kenneth McKenzie told reporters that Johnson was “separated” but “no one was left behind.” That idea was echoed by Secretary of Defense James Mattis during a meeting with the Israeli Defense Minister.
“The U.S. military does not leave its troops behind, and I’d just ask not question the action of the troops that were put in the firefight and question,” he said. “Don’t question if they did everything they could in order to bring everyone else out at once and don’t confuse your need for accurate information with our ability to provide it immediately in a situation like this.”
It was nightfall when U.S., Nigerien, and French forces searched for Johnson.
The Pentagon has repeatedly said that the U.S. has conducted 29 patrols similar to the fateful one on October 4 without incident.”

A massive Chinese space station is in an uncontrolled descent toward Earth, and is expected to plunge into the atmosphere and crash to the surface “a few months from now.”
China’s 8.5-ton Tiangong-1, meaning “Heavenly Palace 1,” was launched in 2011 with a two-year service plan. At the time, it was described as a “potent political symbol” which represented China’s ambitious plan to become a space superpower, according to The U.K. Guardian.
After being used for manned and unmanned missions, experts began to speculate about the status of Tiangong-1. In 2016, Chinese officials confirmed that they had lost control of the space station, and predicted that it would crash to Earth in 2017 or 2018.

A new German law introducing state censorship on social media platforms came into effect on October 1, 2017. The new law requires social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, to censor their users on behalf of the German state. Social media companies are obliged to delete or block any online “criminal offenses” such as libel, slander, defamation or incitement, within 24 hours of receipt of a user complaint — regardless of whether or the content is accurate or not. Social media companies receive seven days for more complicated cases. If they fail to do so, the German government can fine them up to 50 million euros for failing to comply with the law.
This state censorship makes free speech subject to the arbitrary decisions of corporate entities that are likely to censor more than absolutely necessary, rather than risk a crushing fine. When employees of social media companies are appointed as the state’s private thought police and given the power to shape the form of current political and cultural discourse by deciding who shall be allowed to speak and what to say, and who shall be shut down, free speech becomes nothing more than a fairy tale. Or is that perhaps the point?

Youngest World Leader Bans George Soros’s Foundations From Austria
The world’s youngest leader, newly-elected Sebastian Kurz, has informed George Soros that his Open Society Foundation has 28 days to cease and desist operations in Austria or face legal action for “attempting to undermine the democracy of the nation.”
31-year-old Sebastian Kurz, Austria’s youngest ever leader, has told colleagues that action must be taken immediately, after news broke that George Soros has donated $18 billion of his $24 billion dollar fortune to his Open Society Foundation.
“The situation has become critical,” Kurz said. “Soros is throwing everything he has behind his push for global control. Misinformation and media manipulation has already increased exponentially overnight. We have no room for complacency.“
Kurz, a self-described truther who says he was “red pilled” by the 9/11 film Loose Change, claims that he understands the Soros agenda, and “there is no way in hell this country will be his fifth victim.”
It is understood the Austrian chancellor is referring to the number of national economies Soros has crashed in order to gain enormous personal profit and political influence.
Asked why he was banning George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, Kurz said, “Because it’s 2017.“
The news that Soros has released 75% of his vast fortune to push his political and social agenda has caused shockwaves around the world, with many democratically elected leaders expressing fear that the sheer weight of his billions, used to buy politicians and journalists, will be difficult to fight against.

The force says it’s disappointed by remarks
A social media backlash has been launched at Lincolnshire Police after they posted a video on better understanding British Muslims.
The 12-minute long film touches on the history of Islam, its values, its followers’ journey to British shores and reminded people of hate crime laws.
But a barrage of negative online comments have been posted in response, with some accusing the police of producing a “propaganda” video and telling people what to think.
The force and other social media users defended the move, saying it is an attempt to promote better understanding between communities.
Among those objecting to it were people posting on the police’s facebook page.
“Are we now not allowed to think our own thoughts!?” asked one. “We don’t require any indoctrination. Police should deal with law not religion.”
“How do Lincolnshire Police view the ordinary, decent, Christian people of this country?” wrote another.
“The answer, most unfortunately, is all too plain. Continue to alienate the rest of us, and you’ll be facing some pretty huge problems further down the line, won’t you?
“NOBODY should be getting special treatment and if you’re going to promote videos like this, then you need to do it for every faith and nationality in Britain. Looking forward very much to your video wishing us all a wonderful Christmas.”
Others wanted police to address response times and questioned the making of the video.
But social media users also sprung up in defence of it too.
“No-one, anywhere is telling you to convert or respect or even like a certain religion!” said one.
“They are reminding you that committing abuse or assault on an other human being BASED on differing races or beliefs is a crime. That’s it!”
Another wrote: “They’re not claiming it’s a priority, they’re simply using this week to raise awareness of hate crime which unfortunately is a growing issue at the moment whether it be against a person because of their religion or sexuality etc.”

Trump To DOJ And FBI: Say Who Paid For Dossier
President Trump called on the Department of Justice and FBI to reveal who paid opposition research firm Fusion GPS to produce the infamous anti-Trump dossier of research compiled last year by former British spy Christopher Steele.
“Officials behind the now discredited ‘Dossier’ plead the Fifth,” Trump wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “Justice Department and/or FBI should immediately release who paid for it.”
Trump was referring to Fusion co-founders’ Peter Fritsch and Thomas Catan pleading the Fifth during interviews with the House Intelligence Committee earlier this week.
The committee has recently ramped up its efforts to investigate the dossier. In addition to the subpoena for Fusion’s co-founders, the panel earlier this month subpoenaed Fusion’s bank, TD Bank, for records that would disclose the identities of its clients
Fusion was working for a Hillary Clinton ally when it began work on the dossier. There have been few clues about who the client might be, and Fusion has resisted all attempts to find out who it is.
It is unclear whether the FBI and Justice Department know who paid Fusion GPS to produce the dossier, which BuzzFeed published on Jan. 10. But the agencies have reportedly used the document as part of the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.
Steele, a former MI6 agent, reportedly met with FBI agents last July to provide briefings on his investigation of Trump. And the bureau reportedly struck an informal agreement with Steele last October to pay him to continue his investigation. It is unclear if the retired spy was paid by the FBI for his sleuthing, though there have been reports that he was reimbursed by the bureau for some expenses.
Republican lawmakers have raised questions about the FBI’s involvement with Steele and the dossier, mostly because it is the product of a politically-motivated opposition research campaign. Republicans on the House Intelligence and Senate Judiciary Committees have pressed the FBI and DOJ about whether those agencies vetted the dossier prior to using it as part of its investigation into the Trump campaign.
So far, the agencies have not provided responses to those questions.
For its part, Fusion has largely refused to cooperate with congressional committees conducting Russia-related investigations.
Glenn Simpson, one of the co-founders of Fusion and the point-man on the dossier project, refused to identify Fusion’s clients in August, when he met with the Senate Judiciary Committee for 10 hours. The firm says that revealing its clients would hurt its business while undercutting the constitutional rights of its clients to engage in political activities.
On Friday, Fusion’s attorneys filed a request in federal court in Washington asking a judge to place a temporary restraining order to prevent the release of the records. Lawyers for the House committee filed a rebuttal on Saturday. The judge in the case is expected to respond with a decision next week.

“New Delhi: As many as 383 police personnel, including 56 belonging to the BSF and 42 from the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, have died in the line of duty in a year, Director of Intelligence Bureau Rajiv Jain said on Saturday.
Addressing the Police Commemoration Day, where Home Minister Rajnath Singh led the nation in paying tribute to martyrs of police forces, Jain said the 383 police personnel were killed while performing various duties across the country from September 2016 to August 2017.
Among these police personnel, 76 belonged to the Uttar Pradesh Police and 56 belonged to the BSF. Forty-nine were from the CRPF, 42 from the Jammu and Kashmir Police while 23 belonged to Chhattisgarh. Sixteen were from West Bengal and 13 each belonged to Delhi and the CISF. There were 12 each were from Bihar and Karnataka and 11 from the ITBP.

Opposing groups faced off amid heavy police presence at site of now-regular protests
Four people have been charged after two groups of demonstrators faced off against each other amid a heavy police presence at Nathan Phillips Square.
Hundreds gathered at the downtown space Saturday afternoon after the event advertised on Facebook as “Let Trudeau know he has go to go!”
The page describes the goal of the rally as expressing opposition to everything from “soaring taxes to out of control spending” to the recent $10-million dollars paid by the federal government to former Guantanamo Bay inmate Omar Khadr.
The event was not billed as anti-immigrant or anti-Islam and was marketed by organizer Ronny Cameron on his website as “exclusively about Justin Trudeau and all of the irresponsible decisions he has made as Prime Minister.”
‘Contempt for our history’
“Our economy is stagnant, our taxes are through the roof, our borders are being treated like door mats, free speech infringing motions like M-103 and bill C-16 have been passed, and worst of all we have a Prime Minister who displays nothing but contempt for our history and culture,” the website reads.
But groups organizing against the event claimed the true intention behind it was “to normalize fear and hatred of Muslims and refugees.”
“No more immigrants!” some demonstrators could be heard shouting amid the crowd.
“They may be out here to criticize Trudeau, but they’re actually out here to say, ‘We can’t have refugees,'” said Sarah Ali, a member of Solidarity Against Facism Everywhere, which organized the counter demonstration along with Toronto General Defence Committee.
“You can have a criticism of foreign and domestic policy without being a fascist. But when you start to herald to a mythical white past, or when you start to associate with neo-Nazi or white supremacist groups, that’s when you start crossing that line.”
As the groups faced off, tensions mounted with at least one fight breaking out and an officer being assaulted, according to Toronto police.
‘Pushing and pulling and tearing at each other’
Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook told CBC News one person was charged with assault of a peace officer, while another was charged with carrying a prohibited weapon such as pepper spray, and two others — who got into an altercation — with causing a disturbance. The officer who was allegedly assaulted was not seriously injured, she said.
“For a moment or two it was rather violent and the police interceded,” Toronto police Staff Sgt. Chuck Konkel told CBC News.
“Passions took the better of people’s actions and people got emotional, and people from both sides were pushing and pulling and tearing at each other.”
It’s unclear with which groups those arrested identified.
Konkel described the groups as “two sides of the coin.”
