Viktor Orban: “The European Union has failed“

For those to whom this is any sort of (supposedly) amazing “reveal”, please consider it mere testimony to the complicity of Euro-Mainstream-Media in concealing, voluntarily misreporting, and flat-out lying about the past decade(s) of EU economic manipulation, malfeasance, and just plain idiocy. See: Ridiculous EU rules that Britain has to adhere to: Six of the worst.

Only the EU’s self-manufactured “immigration” crisis exceeds this monetary issue in terms of overall scope and sheer depth of pure evil. While the regulatory lunacy of Brussels potentially could be overcome in a relatively peaceful manner, the recent bureaucratically-facilitated invasion of Europe by Third World economic tourists cannot promise anything but a catastrophically violent upheaval.

All that remains to be seen is which group emerges (more) intact from this—legalistic, quasi-religious, and demographic bottleneck.

In an atypical (for me) outburst of Malthusian pessimism, I hereby declare that well-documented Muslim overpopulation strategies (e.g., four broodmares wives per husband) represent a knowing and intentionally unsustainable drain upon (supposedly shared) nation-based, and worldwide environmental or economic resources.

The CENTRAL point being that Muslims have ZERO intent of equitably sharing global assets with all others, much less many other followers of Islam itself. This means that soon-to-arrive International issues of water poverty and food security (i.e., scarcity) will, at best, be mere levers that these same violence-based, criminally structured groups will attempt to harness.

As in, where is it written that this planet’s population is supposed to tolerate—much less endure the inordinate diversion of resources (especially water and food) represented by—Islam’s feckless and intentionally calibrated effort to constrain resources, be they petroleum or otherwise?

It is ridiculous to imagine that (the non-Muslim) 75% of this planet’s population is somehow obliged to disregard an intransigent group’s unrelenting insistence that their no-holds-barred conduct—be it terrorism, institutionalized misogyny or intentional demographic displacement—should be without any eventual retaliation in a very abrupt and finalistic manner. A supreme irony being that Islam’s historic arrival throughout the world has, almost unanimously, been both abrupt and finalistic

Already, Muslim Middle East power-centers are (by sheer petrodollar economic force) expanding their sphere of influence through a global campaign of mosque construction, the bigger the better and—in the architectural equivalent of a palimpsest—transmuting commandeering a previously non-Islamic temple of worship is nothing short of ideal.

As Pat Condell has duly noted, “…every concession to Islam is the thin end of an even bigger wedge”; such that countenancing this worldwide, anti-Western network of indoctrination centers to be built is merely a precursor to the introduction of sharia law and eventual theocratic domination.

In the same manner of resource depletion, Islam’s longstanding tradition of consanguineous marriage has begun to financially impact Western civilization … Not to mention reducing its overall quality-of-life by way of introducing violently retarded Muslim schoolchildren who bully their playmates.

Then, there’s this “slight” problem with child marriage. Nuptials at the geriatric age of six or nine-years-old creates yet another shockwave of psychological and societal “ripple” effects to where, simply ejecting all Muslim immigrants solves a problem which cannot be resolved in any other manner.

After all, a vast majority of Islamic-majority countries demonstrate very little tolerance for any presence of non-believers. How is it then that Western nations should have the slightest patience with accepting their consistently hostile Muslim populations?

  2. Iran: Cartoon exhibition in Tehran mocks Trump’s ‘Arabian Gulf’ gaffe

The Persian Gulf Forever, an exhibition of Iranian cartoons mocking Trump’s calling of the Persian Gulf, the ‘Arabian Gulf’, opened in Tehran on Tuesday.

Heydar Emeni, Manager of Soureh Cultural and Art Institute (Farsi): “This exhibition is showcasing caricatures protesting against the recent speech of the US President. Trump saying ‘the Arabian Gulf’ instead of the Persian Gulf.”

Seyed Shahabedin Tabatabayie, religious cleric (Farsi): “The unwise ‘Persian Gulf’ words of President Trump has created a real community and solidarity between all groups in Iran. If our people have issues with each other, they certainly do not have issues with patriotism, Iranian ideals and uniting against Trump.”

Milad Khosravi, student (Farsi): “A person like Trump is better off going home, or to the White House, to read history books instead of interfering with our history. The Persian Gulf has always been called the Persian Gulf even before the existence of the USA.”

  3. ITALY – 5 Tunisians ‘try to rape Lampedusa woman’

    Manages to send them packing

    – Lampedusa, October 17 – Five Tunisians, almost certainly staying at the hot spot on Lampedusa, on Tuesday tried to rape a local woman in her home on the island, sources said.

The five reportedly gave up after the woman confronted them with a stick and started screaming for help, making them think there were family members in the house, police said. The 50-year-old woman has reported them to the police. Police said they have started an investigation aimed at identifying the assailants.

Lampedusa, closer to Libya than to Sicily, is the first landfall for many migrants and hosts a big hot spot identification centre.

  5. Greece: 234 refugees deported to France as part of EU relocation deal

234 refugees were deported to France on Wednesday morning from Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos international airport, as part of the EU’s relocation programme.

Speaking at the airport, Greece Migration Minister Yiannis Mouzalas thanked France for responding to its obligations and added that “The EU has to show solidarity directly to refugees and not just to the receiving countries.”

French ambassador to Greece, Christophe Chantepy, who was also present, said that “This is the symbol of solidarity in Europe. You all know that the people who show solidarity are the ‘blood’ of the EU. Finally, this is a new beginning for the lives of children and families.”

    • ‘Internet giants are not doing enough to combat terorrism’ claims MI5 spy chief (express, Oct 18, 2017)
      http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/867824/terror-mi5-spy-attack-jihadist-propaganda-internet-amber-rudd-andrew-parker

“WEB giants are not doing enough to stop terrorist attacks, a security chief has claimed.

Head of MI5 Andrew Parker has warned of the dangers of terrorists using the internet to learn how to make bombs.

The security chief said that “dark edges” of the internet are giving an “advantage” to terrorists.

In his first major speech since a wave of four terror attacks across Britain, Mr Parker said that it is impossible for security services to stop all of the attacks.

He said: “We all rely on a myriad of brilliant technological advances in everyday life, but an unintended side effect is that these advances also aid the terrorists.

“Attacks will occur sometimes because this is a free society, a liberal democracy, and we do not monitor everybody all the time and I wouldn’t wish to live in a country that was like that.

“So it is likely that attacks will occur in the future sometimes.

“We have to be careful that we don’t find ourselves being held to some sort of perfect standard of 100 per cent, because that just isn’t achievable.”

Major technology firms are facing growing calls to step up efforts to detect and take down terror-related videos and web pages after attacks in London and Manchester.

Amber Rudd has been vying for WhatsApp to stop the use of encrypted messages that she claims allows jihadists to spread propaganda.

However, advocacy group Liberty believes the Government is attacking British civil liberties which terrorists seek to destroy.

In an article on its website in March, it said: “The scary thing is the Home Secretary’s words are more than an empty threat.

“The Investigatory Powers Act which passed into law at the end of 2016 actually gives Rudd the power to go ahead and backdoor the entire WhatsApp service in total secrecy – without us even knowing about it.”

Mr Parker said the ease of online buying, the propaganda potential of social media and the ability to send encrypted messages were all the problems.

He said: “Addressing these challenges is about partnerships and ethical responsibility.

“No company wants to provide terrorists with explosive precursors. Social media platforms don’t want to host bomb-making videos and communications providers don’t want to provide the means of terrorists’ planning beyond the sight of MI5.”

Mr Parker was appointed director-general of MI5 in 2013.

He said there has been a “steady drumbeat” of terror attacks across Europe.

He also revealed that 20 UK attacks have been foiled since 2013, including seven this year.

There has also been a record of 379 suspects arrested in the year to June and security agents are running more than 500 live operations involving 3,000 known extremists.

But, he warns that attacks could now accelerate and plans carried out in “just a handful of days” from their inception.

He added: “This pace, together with the way extremists can exploit safe spaces online, can make threats harder to detect and give us a smaller window to intervene.”

It comes as ISIS have lost the capital city, Raqqa.

The spy chief warns that ISIS fighters took root in other countries as it lost ground.

He also said that plots are being devised online and carried out by extremists of all ages, genders and backgrounds.

More than 100 UK fighters have been killed in foreign fighting so far.

He added: “These threats are sometimes now coming at us more quickly, whether crude but lethal attack methods – for example using a knife or a vehicle – or more sophisticated plots when in today’s world terrorists can learn all that they need online to make explosives and build a bomb.

“Some will simply never come back at all and may try to move on to other areas.””

  7. GATES TO HELL? Hundreds of ancient structures found on edge of VOLCANOES in Saudi Arabia (express, Oct 18, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/867900/Hell-VOLCANOES-volcano-eruption-saudi-arabia-Harrat-Khaybar

“STUNNED researchers have discovered 400 mysterious stone structures in Saudi Arabia which date back thousands of years, it has been revealed.

Experts are still unsure as to the purpose of the structures, but some of them were found to be draped over lava domes – a mound shaped area where lava has dried near volcanoes.

The stone walls, which have been called “gates” as they resemble field gates when viewed aerially, were found in a region in west-central Saudi Arabia called Harrat Khaybar.

David Kennedy, a professor at the University of Western Australia, who helped to discover the gates through satellite imagery, said they “are stone-built, the walls roughly made and low.”

He adds that they “appear to be the oldest man-made structures in the landscape,” and that “no obvious explanation of their purpose can be discerned”…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/868159/Belgium-restaurant-explosion-three-injured-burned

“AT least three people have been injured in an explosion at a restaurant in Belgium.

The blast tore through the Chinese restaurant in Philippeville, south-west Belgium, at lunchtime today.

It is believed to have been caused by a faulty gas pipe in the restaurant’s toilet or kitchen.

Several people have been injured, suffering from burns.

None of the victims is believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses said an air ambulance had landed in one of the city’s central squares.

A security perimeter has also been set up.

One said: “Three people have been injured, as far as we know. They will be transported to hospital in Loverval and Charleroi by helcopter.”

She added: “I see three fire trucks, a SMUR and a helicopter.”

Gas company OECD confirmed the explosion was because of a gas leak.

A spokesman for the company said: ”This unfortunate incident is not linked to the gas network but rather to a gas leak inside the building.

“This leak occurred on a connected pipe to a propane/butane reserve.””

  11. 50 French detention center staff take sick leave to protest new arrivals, working conditions (RT, Oct 18, 2017)
    https://www.rt.com/news/407121-french-detention-staff-protest/

“Several dozen policemen at a migrant detention center in a Paris suburb have taken sick leave in protest at the opening of a new unit at the facility. Officers say they are incapable of “adequately dealing” with the detainees due to staff shortages.

The protest, involving about 50 of the 80 policemen working at the detention center in Vincennes, in the eastern suburbs of Paris, could last until the end of the week, Le Parisien reports. The center accepts foreigners who have been denied the opportunity to stay in France by the authorities.

A new building is set to open at the facility on October 31, and will accommodate 60 people.

“In the absence of staff, we are already incapable of dealing adequately with the 160 to 170 people who are permanently based at the facility,” an official told the newspaper, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The officers believe that understaffing is likely to affect the functioning of the center. “The detainees are aware of it, so they do what they want. For example, they smoke wherever they want. How can you do anything when there are only two people to manage a whole building?”

Another issue is that the center is in a “shabby state” and is suffering an infestation of rodents, according to the official. The authorities tried to remove the rats at the beginning of the year, apparently without success. “It’s not easy to go to work when you know you’ll be coming across rats on duty.”

Meanwhile, the state-run Prefecture of Police told Le Parisien that “there was never a question of opening additional units at the administrative detention center of Vincennes without the necessary staff.”

Additional civil servants are expected to be assigned by the end of the year, with authorities saying they “won’t activate” the 60 additional places until more personnel arrive. “Concerning the building conditions, maintenance works are in progress,” they added.

Last week, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said that France has a major role to play in resettling refugees and managing migration flows in Europe. Grandi said the UNHCR is backing France in its efforts to “lead Europe towards a more supportive approach to manage refugees who are at Europe’s external borders.”

The northern French town of Calais was home to ‘the Jungle’, one of the most notorious refugee camps in Europe, which was evacuated last year. About 5,500 of its residents were sent to various housing facilities across France. In May, some 1,600 migrants were evacuated from a refugee camp on the outskirts of Paris near Porte de la Chapelle.

The refugees were mainly from Africa and Afghanistan, the Paris prefecture said, as cited by AFP. The migrants’ “illicit encampments” posed “significant risks to the safety and health of their occupants and residents,” the prefectures and police of Ile-de-France said in a joint statement.

In addition, a rivalry between the Afghan and Sudanese inhabitants of the makeshift camp seemed to be emerging, causing further tensions. One violent row in mid-April led to several casualties.”

    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/10/18/asylum-seeker-two-year-sentence-raping-woman-airport/

“A ‘mentally ill’ asylum seeker from Somalia was sentenced to two years in prison for raping a woman in the garage under an airport arrivals lounge in Norway.

The rape occurred at Oslo Airport Gardermoen in March 2016 when a woman, in her late twenties, was sitting on the floor by the lift in the parking garage waiting for her boyfriend’s evening flight to arrive.

  15. 4 dead as fighting continues in southern Philippine city (abcnews, Oct 18, 2017)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/dead-fighting-continues-southern-philippine-city-50557427

“Philippine troops killed four Islamic State group-linked militants in a clash and occasional blasts thundered across Marawi on Wednesday after the president declared the southern city liberated from “terrorist influence.”

President Rodrigo Duterte visited the battle-scarred Islamic city on Tuesday and announced its liberation, sparking hopes that hundreds of thousands of residents could finally return home after being displaced for nearly five months by a bloody siege.

But as life and some traffic resumed in Marawi’s outskirts, the sounds of fighting rattled some who returned.

“We still hear explosions,” Sohayla Pacalna, a souvenir shop owner, told The Associated Press. “But we don’t know what they are.”

After Duterte’s speech, troops pressed an offensive late Tuesday against 20 to 30 gunmen holding several hostages in buildings near the city’s Lanao Lake and killed four militants, Col. Romeo Brawner said, adding that 10 soldiers were wounded.

He said 854 militants have now been killed in the fighting, which broke out on May 23, along with 163 soldiers and policemen and 47 civilians.

Occasional bursts of gunfire and explosions sent clouds of smoke rising from the one-hectare (2.5-acre) area where soldiers said the remaining militants were hiding. The hilly community of narrow streets is now a gray wasteland of disfigured buildings and ruined houses.

Troops used megaphones to urge the remaining militants to give up…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pakistan-fence-afghan-border-reduce-attacks-50560200

“Pakistan’s military said Wednesday that new fencing and guard posts along the border with Afghanistan would help prevent militant attacks in both countries, but the stepped-up fortifications have angered Kabul, which does not recognize the frontier as an international border.

Maj. Gen. Nauman Zakaria, the commander for the South Waziristan tribal region, told reporters during a visit to the border that after the fencing is complete, no “terrorist” will be able to use Afghan or Pakistani soil to launch cross-border attacks. Pakistan began construction of the fencing in June.

Standing at a post overlooking Afghan villages across the border, Zakaria said troops and paramilitary forces had defeated militants by launching several operations in the troubled region, which was a longtime stronghold for al-Qaida and the Taliban, as well as criminal gangs.

President Donald Trump has reiterated longstanding U.S. accusations that Pakistan turns a blind eye to militant groups that launch attacks in Afghanistan from within its territory, allegations denied by Islamabad. Afghanistan has leveled similar accusations, and has also objected to the building of the border fence…”

“France’s Parliament has adopted a sweeping counterterrorism law that replaces a 2-year-old state of emergency and is meant to give police more tools to fight violent extremism.

The Senate voted Tuesday 244-22 to approve the bill, President Emmanuel Macron’s first major security measure.

The legislation enjoyed broad support, although lawmakers made amendments to respond to criticism that the original version would infringe on individual liberties.

The law gives law enforcement greater authority to conduct searches, to close religious facilities and to restrict the movements of people suspected of extremist ties.

The final approval came in time for the law to take effect by Nov. 1, when the state of emergency is set to expire.

  20. China’s Xi lays out vision for ‘new era’ led by ‘still stronger’ Communist Party

BEIJING (Reuters) – Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday laid out a confident vision for a more prosperous nation and its role in the world, stressing the importance of wiping out corruption and curbing industrial overcapacity, income inequality and pollution.

Opening a critical Communist Party congress, Xi pledged to build a “modern socialist country” for a “new era” that will be proudly Chinese and steadfastly ruled by the party but open to the world.

Although his wide-ranging address made clear there were no plans for political reform, Xi said China’s development had entered a “new era”, using the phrase 36 times in a speech that ran nearly 3-1/2 hours.

“With decades of hard work, socialism with Chinese characteristics has crossed the threshold into a new era,” Xi said.

The twice-a-decade event, a weeklong, mostly closed-door conclave, will culminate in the selection of a new Politburo Standing Committee to rule China’s 1.4 billion people for the next five years, with Xi expected to consolidate his control and potentially retain power beyond 2022, when the next congress takes place.

  21. ICE to step up action against companies that hire illegal immigrants
By LU Staff October 18, 2017

The Trump administration’s top immigration agent said Tuesday that he plans to ramp up investigations of businesses that knowingly employ illegal immigrants.

Speaking at a panel discussion at the conservative Heritage Foundation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Thomas Homan said the agency will prioritize worksite enforcement as a way to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S.

“Unless you remove the magnets [for illegal immigration], as long as they think they can come here and get U.S. citizenship and not get removed, they’re going to keep coming,” Homan said. “As long as they can come here and get a job, they’re going to try and come. So we are stepping up worksite enforcement.”

Homan said he studied the amount of time ICE agents were spending on workplace investigations and determined he wanted those efforts to increase by “four to five times.”

In addition to bringing charges against companies that violate employment law, he said, ICE will also initiate deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants found at worksites.

  22. Trump EPA ends ‘sue and settle’ practice long used to intimidate ordinary Americans, small business
John Siciliano, Wash. Examiner October 17, 2017

Ed. – This is unalloyed good news. “Sue and settle” has been a windfall for the environmental activism industry, but it also badly distorts the processes of law. Settlements accepted by small defendants — because they had no means to fight regulatory attacks by the EPA — have too often come to represent “legal precedent,” even though they were never properly litigated. Many overreaching forms of regulation have become entrenched through repeated use of “sue and settle” tactics, which prey on small businesses, farmers, ranchers, and other property owners of limited means. Sue and settle is truly one of the deadliest ways in which government is weaponized against the citizens.]

The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday became the first of President Trump’s agencies to issue an order barring the agency from being drawn into court settlements that alter environmental outcomes to the liking of environmental and other special interest groups.

“The days of regulation through litigation are over,” EPA chief Scott Pruitt declared in a statement. “We will no longer go behind closed doors and use consent decrees and settlement agreements to resolve lawsuits filed against the Agency by special interest groups where doing so would circumvent the regulatory process set forth by Congress.” …

The litigation tool, commonly referred to as “sue and settle,” was used with great success by environmental groups under the Obama administration to force a regulatory process behind closed doors, according to Pruitt.

  23. Ethics watchdog claims DNC Chair Tom Perez broke the law
By Jeff Dunetz October 18, 2017

Tom Perez’s tenure as the Chairman of the Democratic Party has gotten off to a bad start.

First, he was criticized for his frequent use of profanity in his Party Unity Tour speeches. Then he got knocked by his own party for doing a lousy job of fundraising, a primary responsibility of a party chair.

Now a watchdog group, The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging that Perez mishandled the leftover campaign funds from his race for DNC Chairman.

FACT has asked the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to investigate campaign violations by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and its Chairman, Tom Perez. FACT’s complaint maintains that DNC Chairman Tom Perez illegally transferred funds from his campaign account used to fund his chairman’s race to pay off the debts of his former opponents.

In 2016, Perez established “Team Tom,” an organization under 26 U.S.C. § 527 in order to raise money and make expenditures in his race to become DNC Chairman. A month after being elected DNC Chair in February, 2017, Perez used over $27,000 in campaign funds to pay off the debts of his former opponents (Jamie Harrison, Jehmu Green and Sally Boynton) who dropped out of the chairman’s race and later supported Perez’s candidacy. Campaign finance laws stipulate that national party committees and their agents are prohibited from using non-federal funds. Since funds raised and spent by “Team Tom” were non-federal funds and Chairman Perez directed those funds to his former opponents while in his official capacity at the DNC, both the DNC and Perez broke multiple campaign finance laws.

  24. Image of the Day: How Harvey Weinstein and Hillary Clinton really feel about sexual predators
By Rusty Weiss October 18, 2017

It’s practically a club for people who either commit sexual assault or turn a blind eye to it.

The meme below provides a perfect illustration of the relationship between disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, former Democrat candidate for president Hillary Clinton, and her number one aide, Huma Abedin.

It’s mind-blowing, befuddling, and just a strange group of individuals who seem OK with sexual deviancy. Yet if someone (God forbid!) should mention a “binder full of women,” watch out! War on women!

Check out this triumvirate of woman abusers and enablers:

  25. Google DeepMind: AI becomes more alien (BBC, Oct 18, 2017)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41668701

“Google’s DeepMind says it has made another big advance in artificial intelligence by getting a machine to master the Chinese game of Go without help from human players.

The AlphaGo program, devised by the tech giant’s AI division, has already beaten two of the world’s best players.

It had started by learning from thousands of games played by humans.

But the new AlphaGo Zero began with a blank Go board and no data apart from the rules, and then played itself.

Within 72 hours it was good enough to beat the original program by 100 games to zero.

DeepMind’s chief executive, Demis Hassabis, said the system could now have more general applications in scientific research…”

  27. ‘Are you going to blow us up?’ White woman who lived as a Muslim for a week is left ‘sickened’ as she’s subjected to racist taunts from regulars outside her local pub (dailymail, Oct 18, 2017)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4993044/White-woman-experiences-Islamophobia-living-Muslim.html

“As someone who supported calls to ‘ban the burka’, Katie Freeman didn’t have much sympathy for the Muslim community in her hometown of Manchester.

But when she was given a taste of life as a Muslim in Britain as part of an experiment for a groundbreaking TV documentary, her outlook changed dramatically.

Katie, 42, who wore traditional Islamic dress as she went about her daily activities, was left ‘sickened’ after being subjected to racist abuse from regulars outside her local pub.

Katie, who immersed herself in the local Pakistani Muslim community for My Week as a Muslim in filming that overlapped with the Manchester terror attack in May this year, was asked by punters if she planned to ‘blow them up’.

The cameras followed her as she initially struggled to integrate with the community – including during an uncomfortable stint as a chaperone on a ‘date’ between two young Muslims looking to marry.

By the end of the documentary she becomes friends with her Muslim hosts and says white and Muslim Brits need to put on a ‘united front’ in the face of adversity and terrorism…”

  29. Important information about the Brotherhood and its plans

Muslim Brotherhood Deepens Its Ties on Capitol Hill
By Ran Meir Tuesday, October 17, 2017

New evidence suggests the Muslim Brotherhood has big plans for the U.S. and a variety of countries around the globe that involve hundreds of millions of dollars in a bid to gain political influence.

The exact details come from a mole inside a meeting of Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Istanbul, Turkey, and made public in Arabic by the Egyptian news outlet 7th Day.

The gathering took place at the city’s Akgun Hotel with members of the Brotherhood’s U.S.-based revolutionary council among the 21 in attendance.

    United States

Much of the conversation focused on attempts to curry favor in Congress.

They reportedly met North Carolina Democrat Congressman David Price – notable for his early condemnation of the 2003 war in Iraq, Californian Congressman Alan Lowenthal and centrist New York Republican John Faso.

  30. Europe’s New Official History Erases Christianity, Promotes Islam

    by Giulio Meotti
    October 18, 2017 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11188/europe-erases-christianity

A few days ago, some of Europe’s most important intellectuals — including British philosopher Roger Scruton, former Polish Education Minister Ryszard Legutko, German scholar Robert Spaemann and Professor Rémi Brague from the Sorbonne in France — issued “The Paris Statement”. In their ambitious statement, they rejected the “false Christendom of universal human rights” and the “utopian, pseudo-religious crusade for a borderless world”. Instead, they called for a Europe based on “Christian roots”, drawing inspiration from the “Classical tradition” and rejecting multiculturalism:

“The patrons of the false Europe are bewitched by superstitions of inevitable progress. They believe that History is on their side, and this faith makes them haughty and disdainful, unable to acknowledge the defects in the post-national, post-cultural world they are constructing. Moreover, they are ignorant of the true sources of the humane decencies they themselves hold dear — as do we. They ignore, even repudiate the Christian roots of Europe. At the same time they take great care not to offend Muslims, who they imagine will cheerfully adopt their secular, multicultural outlook”.

In 2007, reflecting on the cultural crisis of the continent, Pope Benedict said that Europe is now “doubting its very identity”. In 2017, Europe took a further step: creating a post-Christian pro-Islam identity. Europe’s official buildings and exhibitions have indeed been erasing Christianity and welcoming Islam.

One kind of official museum recently opened by the European Parliament, the “House of the European History”, costing 56 million euros. The idea was to create a historical narrative of the postwar period around the pro-EU message of unification. The building is a beautiful example of Art Deco in Brussels. As the Dutch scholar Arnold Huijgen wrote, however, the house is culturally “empty”:

  31. Win-Win: How Tax Reform Will Help Defense Spending and the Economy

    by Peter Huessy
    October 18, 2017 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11108/defense-spending-economy

One crucial aspect of the new tax reform bill, unveiled by President Donald Trump and the “Big Six” group of Republican tax negotiators at the end of September, is the potentially positive effect it will have on the US defense budget, which is sorely in need of an increase.

The assertion made by former President Barack Obama during his final State of the Union address in January 2016, that the United States spends “more on our military than the next eight nations combined,” bolstered the belief that America’s national-security needs are beyond being met. However, as a recent Heritage Foundation report reveals, such claims, which have led to the conclusion that the United States allocates an excessive amount to the defense budget, are “disingenuous,” as they “give no consideration to the decisions driving defense spending or the factors contributing to costs across national economies.”

As the Heritage Foundation points out, although “the U.S. military remains the largest and most capable in the world… [t]he security environment in which in which the U.S. military is expected to operate has grown increasingly complex, and national defense resourcing warrants more than a solitary sentence of discussion.”

America’s major military adversaries, Russia and China, pay their soldiers, sailors and pilots far less than America pays the members of its own forces, which enables Moscow and Beijing to spend more on weapons and research. In addition, unlike the U.S., Russia and China are not transparent about their defense spending at best, and lie about it at worst, with the former reportedly “cooking its defense books,” and the latter publishing nothing about its nuclear weapons program. In addition, while America’s adversaries have been increasing their defense budgets and the power of their armed forces, the United States has been doing the opposite. As former US Senator James Talent wrote in 2013:

  32. Murder trial mother ‘wanted abortion after learning baby was girl’ (express, Oct 18, 2017)
    http://www.express.co.uk/scotland/868184/Murder-trial-mother-abortion-baby-girl

“A MOTHER accused of murdering her 14-month-old daughter wanted an abortion after finding out she was carrying a girl, a court has heard.

Shagufta Yasmin claimed that Sadia Ahmed “cried a lot” when she discovered she was expecting a daughter.

The witness was giving evidence at the trial at the High Court in Glasgow of 28-year-old Ahmed, who denies murdering her daughter, Inaya, at the family home in the city.

Mrs Yasmin, the child’s aunt, told prosecutor Paul Kearney: “When Sadia discovered she was going to have a daughter she wasn’t happy. She cried a lot. She used to say she wanted a son, not a daughter.

“She said she wanted an abortion. We said: ‘Have faith in God and he might give her a son next time.’…”
