“Some 30,167 people have been arrested in over 68,000 operations against terrorist organizations over the course of the last year, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Oct. 11.
“We have conducted 68,464 operations against terrorist organizations in one year. Some 40,215 of them were against the [outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party] PKK, 25,818 of them were against [the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] FETÖ, and the others were against DEASH [the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant] and other radical leftist terror organizations,” Soylu said, in an address to governors in the capital Ankara.
“Following these operations 30,167 people were arrested, 2,242 terrorists were neutralized, 1,488 shelters were destroyed, and 515 terrorist actions were blocked before they could be conducted,” he added.
755-kilometer wall on border
Soylu also noted that as a part of security measures taken on its Syrian border, Turkey has built modular concrete walls amounting to 755 kilometers so far.
“In the framework of the rapid border physical security system, modular concrete walls of 755 kilometers in total have been built on the Syrian border,” he said.
“Our governorships have completed 44 kilometers trellis fence systems and 28 kilometers roads,” Soylu added.
101 mayors appointed
Meanwhile, he said that 101 mayors have been appointed by the government, using the authority granted by a state of emergency decree law issued after the 2016 coup attempt. The law allows the Interior Ministry and governors to directly appoint mayors, deputy mayors and local council members if the elected mayor already in the post has been dismissed in terror-related probes.
“An important step that we have taken in regard to counter-terrorism is the appointment of mayoralties that were determined to have relations to terrorist organizations. In this framework, 101 mayoralties were appointed. Eight of those replaced mayors related to FETÖ, while 93 replaced mayors related to the PKK,” Soylu said.”

New York Works to Reduce ‘Dirty Bomb’ Risks
Health department working with hospitals to remove certain radiological medical devices throughout city
Major hospitals and research institutions in New York City have agreed to reduce the number of medical devices that contain radiological material as part of an effort to eliminate threats of a so-called “dirty-bomb” attack, city health officials said Wednesday.
A dirty bomb uses conventional explosives to spread radioactive materials.
The initiative is being partly financed by the U.S. Department of Energy, which will provide about $250,000 toward the replacement and disposal costs for each cesium-based radiological device that is removed. The equipment, to be replaced with comparable X-ray technology, is primarily used for blood transfusions and in cancer research.
The program seeks to remove 28 of these devices from a dozen institutions throughout the city by 2023, according to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. For example, three such machines will be replaced at NYU Langone Health, while the one at Weill Cornell Medicine will just be removed, according to spokeswomen for the institutions.

McMaster: Talking to Media About National Security Deliberation is Treasonous
National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster has some stern words for Trump administration staffers who leak information to the media.
“I think what’s very important is that everyone that’s involved in these sort of policy discussions understand the sacred trust that is placed in them and they realize that speaking to the media about government deliberation is treasonous when it involves national security,” McMaster firmly stated.

Today, the nations of Poland, Hungary, Czechia, and Slovakia are united against the rest of the European Union (EU). These four Eastern European nations argue that the immigration policies of the EU are threatening to destroy the continent’s political and economic stability. These nations see the flood of immigrants as a real threat to their future, and so the people gathered to pray – not against immigration, but for salvation from the possible calamity that lies ahead for Europe.

It is a photo that represents or should represent the reality of places and is not a subjective design. ” So in the past few hours, the recommended items were sent to the Italian headquarters of Lidl and the international one, which is in Germany. The City of Dolceacqua wants to understand why the crosses have been removed: “They can certainly use the Dolceacqua photo and it also makes us happy, it is a symbol of the area and a very well-known place. On October 12, 2017, the Department of State notified UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova of the U.S. decision to withdraw from the organization and to seek to establish a permanent observer mission to UNESCO. This decision was not taken lightly, and reflects U.S. concerns with mounting arrears at UNESCO, the need for fundamental reform in the organization, and continuing anti-Israel bias at UNESCO.
The United States indicated to the Director General its desire to remain engaged with UNESCO as a non-member observer state in order to contribute U.S. views, perspectives and expertise on some of the important issues undertaken by the organization, including the protection of world heritage, advocating for press freedoms, and promoting scientific collaboration and education.
Pursuant to Article II(6) of the UNESCO Constitution, U.S. withdrawal will take effect on December 31, 2018. The United States will remain a full member of UNESCO until that time.

Ann Coulter: Media Begging Us for Conspiracy Theories on Las Vegas
Now the media are just taunting us with their tall tales about Stephen Paddock, the alleged Las Vegas shooter. Reputedly serious news organizations are claiming that he made a living playing video poker. That’s like claiming someone made a living smoking crack.
The media are either doing PR for the gambling industry or they don’t want anyone considering the possibility that Paddock was using gambling to launder money.

But if the allegedly serious media are going to keep telling us he was making a living doing it, they’re just begging us to say that losing a percent or two on millions of dollars doesn’t make sense as an investment strategy, but it does make sense as a money laundering operation.
And the probable illicit business requiring money to be laundered that leaps out at us in Paddock’s case is illegal gun sales. If true, it would not only explain the arsenal in his hotel room, but also raises the possibility of either an accomplice or different perpetrator altogether.

There’s no evidence for any of this, but on the other hand, there’s no evidence for the version the media are giving us. At least the movie script version doesn’t require us to pretend that Paddock was making “millions” from video poker.

Perennial sore loser Hillary Clinton took five days to react to the New York Times story detailing a decades’ long pattern of alleged sexual harassment committed by her long time Hollywood pal and generous donor, Harvey Weinstein. When Hillary did finally say something, her words were delivered via a written statement, not on camera where she has lectured us so frequently about how pervasive sexism and misogyny are in America. The statement on Weinstein’s alleged sexual exploitation and abuse of women issued in Hillary’s name claimed that she was “shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein.” The statement then added Clinton’s standard bromide: “The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior.”
Too bad Hillary did not provide such support herself, when she had the chance, to the victims of her husband Bill’s sexual predatory behavior. And where was she all these years as rumors swirled regarding Weinstein’s abysmal treatment of women? Hillary’s expression of “shock” is reminiscent of the famous scene in the movie classic Casablanca. Claude Rains, playing the role of Captain Louis Renault who was the Vichy police officer in charge in wartime Casablanca, closed Rick’s Café after exclaiming, “I am shocked — shocked! — to find that gambling is going on in here!” Renault, who was thoroughly corrupt, made sure he received his winnings from the croupier as he finished expressing his “shock” over gambling on the premises.
Captain Renault overcame his “shock” in time to keep his gambling winnings. Hillary has given no indication whether her “shock” will compel her to return or give to charity the thousands of dollars Weinstein gave to her campaign and to her foundation, as other Democrats such as Senators Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren have done with the campaign donations they received from Weinstein.

The New Yorker reporter Rowan Farrow has unleashed a bombshell: famed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein—the man behind films such as Pulp Fiction, Gangs of New York, Inglourious Basterds, and The Nutty Professor—is more than just a fan of chronic sexual harassment; he is, according to a woman who has requested her name not be published, a rapist.
Recently accused of a host of improprieties ranging from leveraging movie roles for sex to masturbating into a potted plant in a restaurant hallway, the studio head finds himself immersed in an ever-boiling pot of accusations, ratcheting up as the days go by.
The New Yorker story follows a 10-month process, during which Farrow interviewed purported victims such as actresses Ashley Judd, Mira Sorvino, and Rosanna Arquette, who accused Weinstein of sexual advances and unwanted massages. On March 1, 2011 an Israeli Merkava IV tank on patrol along the Gaza periphery was fired upon by Hamas terrorists from concealed positions within Gaza. Using a deadly RPG-29, a more advanced version of the RPG-7, the terrorists waited for impact. But their moment of glory never transpired. As the anti-tank projectile neared its target, a revolutionary platform – the Trophy Armor Protection System (APS) – deployed on the Merkava IV detected the threat and instantly fired a number of pellets at the deadly menace, destroying and rendering it inert yards from the tank.
Barely three weeks later, Hamas terrorists experienced further failure. They once again attempted to engage a Trophy-equipped Merkava IV. This time, the Trophy calculated the missile’s trajectory and determined that the missile posed no threat, allowing it pass along harmlessly. But that wasn’t the end of the story. Based on the missiles flight path, the Trohy was able to determine the source of fire and transmitted the coordinates to the tank’s crew as well as to nearby units who instantly directed their accurate counter-fire toward the source of the attack, causing at least one terrorist casualty.

Apparently, 112 events featuring extremist speakers took place on UK campuses in the academic year 2016/2017, according to a recent report by Britain’s Henry Jackson society: “The vast majority of the extreme speakers recorded in this report are Islamist extremists, though one speaker has a background in Far-Right politics….” That one speaker was Tommy Robinson both of whose events were cancelled, one due to hundreds of students planning to demonstrate to protest his appearance. The report does not mention student protests at any of the Islamist events.

It is probably not a coincidence that Spain was an early target of Islamic terror. The Iberian Peninsula, present-day Portugal and Spain, was for centuries under Islamic rule. Militant Muslims have repeatedly made it clear that for them, reconquering Spain is a priority.
