  2. A black Minnesota teacher is fighting back against the St. Paul Public School district, which he said has discriminated against him for questioning race-based educational programs, according to a federal lawsuit.

“I filed the lawsuit because the EEOC found probable cause that I was retaliated and racially discriminated for speaking up,” Aaron Benner, who taught fourth grade and now is a Dean of Students (9th Grade) at Cretin-Derham Hall, told Fox News.

“The irony is the racial discrimination charge. My district always talks about racial equity, and then they got caught going after the only black teacher in the school. I had five frivolous investigations opened up on me.”

  5. Anti-free speech liberals have long sought to regulate and restrict Americans’ freedom of speech on the Internet. Now, their longtime champion, FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub, has found her latest excuse to restrict American citizens’ free speech on their own websites, blogs, YouTube, and social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Speaking about Russian meddling in the last election at a recent meeting of the FEC (at minute 10:55), Weintraub stated:

If you’re interested I’m happy to talk about it but I’m not here proposing that we reopen the entire Internet rulemaking from 2006. I think that’s something we might want to talk about at some point because, if only because technology has dramatically changed since then, and you know what the state of play back then and the state of play today is just very different, and that might have some ramifications that we might want to think about.

Armed police have rushed to the scene after witnesses reported hearing a loud “bang”.

A police spokesman said: “We have received several reports of a shooting in Trelleborg.

“We were quickly on the spot and found that, within a fairly limited area, we find more people with suspected gunshot injuries.

  8. Conservative Blogger’s Car Torched in Chicago

For the past year, conservative writer Warner Todd Huston’s home in Chicago has been under attack by vandals in what looks like an attempt to intimidate him.

Huston is a feature writer for Breitbart News and has written articles for RightWingNews.com, CanadaFreePress.com, YoungConservatives.com, and a host of other conservative news sites — including his own website, Publius Forum.

The vandalism started off small. Early this year, an Army flag was pulled off his flag staff and left ripped and in pieces on his lawn.

A few weeks later, the flag he replaced it with was stolen. Next, his garage door was egged.

Then it escalated: “On the night of July 1, the U.S. Army flag that I fly in honor of my son who is in the service was scorched and on it was

  9. Powerful RNC Ad Demands Democrats ‘Return All of the Dirty Harvey Weinstein Money’

President Obama said, “Our society still does not sufficiently value women. We still don’t condemn sexual assault as loudly as we should.” And Hillary Clinton said, “Women’s rights are human rights, and human rights are women’s rights. And I believe that with all my heart.” So the Republican National Committee is literally asking them to put their money where their mouths are.

This powerful ad demands from the Democrats: “Return all of the dirty Harvey Weinstein money.” After all, this is a man accused of sexual abuse, and even outright rape. And it seems to have been an open secret in Hollywood that many people knew about. That didn’t stop Clinton and Obama from taking tens of thousands of fundraising dollars from the sexual assaulter. 10. Alleged Weinstein Victim Rose McGowan Gets Suspended From Twitter
“THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK”

Late Wednesday night, actress and alleged Harvey Weinstein sexual assault victim Rose McGowan said she’d been suspended from Twitter, posting a screenshot of the suspension on her Instagram account.

McGowan has been a key figure in the exposure of the big-time Hollywood producer, publicly sharing her story of alleged assault and using her Twitter account to call out those whom she claims are complicit in Weinstein’s alleged decades-long behavior, such as actors Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, and Matt Damon.

“TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE,” McGowan captioned her Instagram message, clearing alluding to some sort of conspiracy to shut her up.

  12. Accused Sexual Predator Did Something For Hillary That Will Leave You Speechless

Amidst sexual assault accusations, Harvey Weinstein has been officially fired from the Weinstein Company.

Many actresses have accused Weinstein of gross sexual behavior including Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

And back in 2000, Weinstein did something for Hillary Clinton that will leave you speechless.

Harvey Weinstein has been a known supporter and big donor of Democrats like former President Barack Obama and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

His bias was obvious—he even threw Hillary Clinton a birthday party 17 years ago.

“France will extend checks at borders with fellow Schengen members until April 30, the interior ministry said Thursday, citing the “persistent” terror threat to prolong controls in place since the November 2015 Paris attacks.

The controls at borders with members of the visa-free Schengen area such as Italy and Belgium, will “respect the principle of proportionality”, the ministry said in a note to the EU dated October 3rd.

“Risk analysis… confirms the existence of a persistent level of threat,” the ministry said, adding that it fears the Islamic State group is planning further attacks on French soil.

“Germany’s top diplomat Sigmar Gabriel has warned that Donald Trump’s potential move to “de-certify” Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal could have a profound effect on the international landscape.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on Thursday said that any move by US President Donald Trump’s administration to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal would drive a wedge between Europe and the US.

  16. Iraq refuses talks with Kurds unless they commit to unity (ahram, Oct 12, 2017)
    http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/2/8/278706/World/Region/Iraq-refuses-talks-with-Kurds-unless-they-commit-t.aspx

“The Iraqi government said on Thursday it would not hold talks with the Kurdish autonomous region on reopening its airports and providing dollars for its banks, unless the Kurds commit to “Iraq’s unity”.

Iraq’s central government imposed a ban on direct international flights to the autonomous Kurdish region after the Kurds held a Sept 25 referendum on independence, which Baghdad says was illegal. It is calling for its neighbours to shut the landlocked region’s borders.

Among other measures to isolate the Kurdish region, Baghdad stopped selling dollars to four Kurdish-owned banks and called for a halt to its independent crude oil sales.

The Kurds have repeatedly called for negotiations following the referendum in which an overwhelming majority voted for independence.

“To avoid this collective punishment, we invite (Iraqi Prime Minister) Haider al-Abadi, again, … (to) any form of dialogue and negotiations in conformity with the Iraqi Constitution,” the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said in a statement.

It offered discussions “regarding the crossings, internal trade, providing services to the citizens, the banks and the airports.”

But Baghdad has said the Kurds must disavow the referendum result as a pre-condition for any talks. Asked about the latest offer, an Iraqi government spokesman said there could be no talks until the Kurds gave a “commitment to Iraq’s unity”…”

  18. ‘What is your religion?’ Canada police questions of asylum seekers raise concerns (middleeasteye, Oct 12, 2017)
    http://www.middleeasteye.net/news/what-your-religion-canada-police-probes-asylum-seekers-raise-concern-417587390

“Civil rights groups have raised concerns over a questionnaire that Canada’s federal police have used during interviews with asylum seekers who have crossed the border illegally from the United States.

The RCMP interview guide, first revealed by the Toronto Star newspaper, includes several questions about religious practices and political beliefs and values, and appears to specifically target Muslim asylum seekers.

“What is your religion?” appears among dozens of questions in the guide, as does a follow-up question about how often interviewees practise their religion.

“Canada is a very liberal country that believes in freedom of religious practice and equality between men and women. What is your opinion on this subject?” the document reads.

“How would you feel if your boss was a woman?” it continues.

The guide goes on to suggest asking asylum seekers how they feel about women who do not wear headscarves (hijabs), full-face veils (niqabs) or full-body coverings (burqas), among other religious garments.

It also includes questions about the asylum seekers’ political beliefs, whether they belong to any political organisations or plan to attend protests about issues in their home country while in Canada.

It also asks what asylum seekers think about the Islamic State (IS) group.

    ‘Completely unacceptable’

It is “completely unacceptable” for the RCMP to ask questions about asylum seekers’ religious practices, the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) said on Thursday in a brief Facebook statement.

The advocacy group said it was “deeply concerned about this report on religious profiling” and it said it was engaging the Canadian government on the matter.

A spokesperson for Canada’s Ministry of Public Safety told Middle East Eye that the RCMP has suspended the use of that version of the questionnaire.

“The minute we became aware of the interview guide, we were immediately concerned and contacted the RCMP. Some of the questions were inappropriate and inconsistent with government policy,” Scott Bardsley said in an email.

Bardsley said the interview guide was used exclusively in Quebec.

The French-speaking province in eastern Canada has seen an influx of asylum seekers crossing the border from the US without visas in recent months.

A bilateral agreement blocks asylum seekers who first land in the US from making an asylum application in Canada, save for a few exceptions, on the basis that the US is a “safe country” for refugees.

But once asylum seekers are on Canadian territory, they can have their asylum claims heard. That loophole in the Safe Third Country Agreement is what has pushed thousands to cross the border illegally.

    RCMP ‘risk assessment’

The RCMP is the first point of contact for anyone that does not cross the Canada-US border at an official crossing. RCMP agents conduct a so-called “preliminary risk assessment” for anyone it detains while crossing the border without a permit.

The RCMP intercepted 2,996 asylum seekers who had crossed into Quebec without visas in July, and another 5,530 asylum seekers in August.

“Due to the high volume of irregular migrants in Quebec, an interview guide was developed,” RCMP Spokesperson Annie Delisle told MEE in an email, about the purposes of the questionnaire.

“When individuals are intercepted crossing the border illegally, their intentions are not known. Officers utilise the tools at their disposal to confirm the identity of the individuals and to assess their activities and intentions while respecting the human rights of the individual,” she said.

Delisle said the RCMP does not have statistics on how many asylum seekers were interviewed using the guide.

But the questionnaire “has been revised to better evaluate individuals coming into the country whose origin is unknown, while being respectful of their situations,” she said.

After the preliminary RCMP interview, asylum seekers are transferred to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

If they are eligible to make a refugee claim in Canada, they will then be released pending a hearing with Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. The IRB is an independent body that decides on asylum claims in Canada.

Delisle said the information obtained through the interviews is being kept in an RCMP database.

It can be shared with the CBSA “or other partners, in accordance with Canadian legislation pertaining to the sharing of such information”.

In late August, The Canadian Press reported that Canadian border agents had quietly started to share information about US citizens who cross into Canada every day with the US Department of Homeland Security.

Canada and the US have several information-sharing agreements in place.”

  19. With new Af-Pak policy, US downfall has begun: Senator Mushahid Hussain (tribune, Oct 12, 2017)
    https://tribune.com.pk/story/1529437/new-af-pak-policy-us-downfall-begun-senator-mushahid-hussain/

“The US strategy to rely on India as part of its new regional policy predicts that its downfall has begun, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has said.

“As far as this strategy is concerned, I can clearly see a downfall of the US,” said the senator in a recent interview with The Express Tribune.

US President Donald Trump, in his new policy for the region unveiled in August this year, scolded Pakistan for alleged safe havens for terrorists inside the country, and hinted at India’s enhanced role in Afghanistan.

However, Ambassador David Hale conveyed to National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Janjua that President Trump did not blame Pakistan for its failure in Afghanistan and that India’s role was envisaged for economic development only.

High-level meetings are scheduled between the two sides as US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defence Secretary James Mattis will undertake back-to-back visits to Islamabad later this month.

“This decline started with the American war in Iraq in 2003,” explained Senator Mushahid. “Ever since, a gradual decline of the American empire is taking place.”

“In this scenario, the US thinks that India, which is ready to play the role that of a blue eyed boy and a proxy and an ally for the Americans, can be useful in both confronting China and increasing pressure on Pakistan,” he asserted.

This, according to the senator, is a dangerous policy which will fuel hostility and widen the divide in the region.

He went on to add that with its new policy, “the US is sowing the seeds of a fresh cold war… a great game in the region.” Asia, he maintained, could not sustain such a dangerous strategy.

Pakistan’s civil and military leadership has unanimously rejected American administration’s accusations.

“We told the US that we would consult Moscow, Beijing and Tehran on the issue, making it clear that Pakistan will not come under pressure at the American convenience. Therefore, the US ultimately moved towards dialogue to resolve the issue.,” said Mushahid.

Highlighting two basic flaws in the new US policy, he said Pakistan made it clear that it would not accept being made a scapegoat for the American ineligibility and failures in Afghanistan.

He added that the US move to enter Iraq, that too on illegitimate grounds, while its forces were still engaged in Afghanistan led to the failure on both the fronts.

Secondly, US reliance and intentions to pursue its new policy through India and make the latter a regional ‘policeman’ was also not acceptable for Pakistan, he added.

“We did not succumb to the US pressure even 50 years ago when we befriended China,” the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader said. “And then 40 years ago, when we began the nuclear programme, the US placed sanctions and pressurised us.”

Pakistan was pressurised once again with the initiation of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, he said, adding, “Pakistan did not succumb to the pressure, but India did.”

“We pursue whatever is best in our national interests,” the senator said and added, “Now the US is no more the sole super power. The world is changing and new powers are emerging, so there is no more that sort of the US influence.”

Asked if Pakistan would be able to sustain a possible increase in US pressure, Mushahid said, “Pakistani people are well disciplined, come what may!”

“If the US wants an honourable exit from Afghanistan, [it has to realise] that Pakistan is not a part of the problem, but part of the solution, while India is part of the problem,” he concluded.

The conflict that began in October 2001 as a hunt for the 9/11 attackers has turned into a vexed effort to keep Afghanistan’s divided and corruption-hindered democracy alive amid a brutal Taliban insurgency.

While the US has more than 8,000 troops in Afghanistan, the US president has ordered deployment of more troops, backtracking from his promise to swiftly end America’s longest-ever war.”

  20. Pakistan throws out ‘un-Islamic’ minimum marriage age proposal (RT, Oct 12, 2017)
    https://www.rt.com/news/406534-child-brides-age-pakistan-law/?

“Pakistan’s Senate has struck down legislation governing the minimum age girls can marry, saying a Bill to increase the legal age from 16 to 18 was un-Islamic.

The Child Marriage Restraint Bill was rejected after Senator Sehar Kamran, the lawmaker driving the proposal, had her request for a deferment denied on the grounds that she would not be present.

The chairman of the Senate Standing Committee, Rehman Malik, cited advice from religious scholars as reasons why he thought the committee should reject the Bill.

“I have also discussed it with religious scholars and they also believe that girls can be married before the age of 18 according to Islam, so these kinds of bills cannot be passed,” he said in the Senate Wednesday.

However, in a statement posted to Twitter following the vote, a spokesperson for Malik said the committee plans to reconsider the Bill and would seek further advice from “representatives of NGOs on Human Rights and Women’s Rights and renowned scholars of the country.”

Speaking to Pakistani news site Dawn following the decision, Senator Kamran hit out at the delay and suggested that, in the same way as Pakistani citizens are not allowed to drive or vote before the age of 18, they should also not be permitted to marry.

“If the government thinks 16-year-old girls are adults, they should also be issued driving licenses and allowed to cast votes,” Senator Kamran said.

Posting a copy of the Bill online prior to the vote Wednesday, the mission statement outlined the pressure on child brides to bear children.

“In developing countries, the leading cause of death for young girls between the age of 15 and 18 is early pregnancy,” the Bill read, adding that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child suggests the minimum age for marriage should be 18.

According to Girls Not Brides, an organization campaigning to end child marriage, Pakistan’s National Assembly has rejected draft of the Child Marriage Restraint Act in the past, most recently in May this year.

The government has introduced other measures to curb the trend in a country in which 21 percent of girls are married before the age of 18, according to UNICEF.

In February this year, Pakistan’s Parliament sought to toughen the punishment for child marriage by introducing a mandatory five-year prison sentence and a fine of up to one million rupees ($10,000) for those caught marrying any girl under the age of 16.”
