Belgium moves to expel Egyptian imam over security fears (ahram, Oct 3, 2017)
http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/278215/Egypt/Politics-/Belgium-moves-to-expel-Egyptian-imam-over-security.aspx
“Belgium has moved to expel an Egyptian preacher at the country’s biggest mosque because he posed a “national security” threat, officials said on Tuesday.
Immigration Minister Theo Francken revoked the residency permit of the imam of the Saudi-financed Grand Mosque, near the EU headquarters in Brussels.
Belgium has been hit by several attacks since 2016, including suicide bombings claimed by the Islamic State group that killed 32 people at Brussels airport and a metro station.
“Everybody knows there is a problem with the Grand Mosque in Brussels. I decided to withdraw the residency permit of the imam of this mosque,” Francken told Bel-RTL.
“We have had very clear signals he is a man who is very radicalised, salafist, very conservative and dangerous for our society and national security,” Francken added.
Francken did not identify the imam but his office told AFP his name is Abdelhadi Sewif, a man of Egyptian origin who has lived in Belgium for 13 years.
Belgian authorities first decided in March not to renew the imam’s residence permit but he has appealed against the decision and judges will review his case on October 24, an official said.
After the deadly Brussels bombings in March last year, the mosque defended itself against charges that it was preaching a puritanical strain of Islam and was even a hotbed of extremism.”
More than 250 arrest warrants in Turkey for ‘ties to Gulen’ (ansamed, Oct 3, 2017)

“Mass arrests in the Turkish public administration are still taking place for suspected ties to Fethullah Gulen, who the government claims is responsible for the July 2016 coup attempt.
In Istanbul, the prosecutor’s office issued 112 arrest warrants for current and former city workers accused of having downloaded a messaging app called ByLock, which investigators said was used by “Gulenists” to exchange encrypted information. Turkish news agency Anadolu said at least 67 of those employees have already been arrested.
The Ankara prosecutor’s office issued 142 arrest warrants for employees of the Turkish Education Ministry and Turkish Sport Ministry, some of whom are still in service despite purges that have already brought the arrests of more than 50,000 people and the driving out of more than 110,000 civil servants following the failed coup attempt.”
Pakistan’s key intelligence ‘connected to terrorists’ – US top general (RT, Oct 3, 2017)
https://www.rt.com/news/405584-pakistan-spy-agency-terrorists/
“The Chairman of US Joint Chiefs of Staff has accused Pakistan’s main intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) directorate, of having ties with terrorists.
Joseph Dunford made the announcement while facing the Senate Armed Services Committee alongside with the US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on Tuesday.
“I think it’s clear to me that the ISI has connections with terrorist groups,” Dunford told the Committee.
Mattis echoed Dunford’s stance on ISI, stating that the agency is pursuing its own agenda while Pakistan itself struggles to fight terrorism.
“They have lost probably more troops than any other single country in the fight against terrorism – at the same time we’ve seen havens left to the terrorists’ own devices. We’ve seen the government of Pakistan come down on terrorists, when the ISI appears to run its own policy,” Mattis said.
Yet, he noted that Trump’s administration will try to work with Pakistan in Afghanistan “one more time” before exploring options to curb the alleged support for terrorism from certain elements in the Pakistani government.
“We need to try one more time to make this strategy work with them, by, with and through the Pakistanis, and if our best efforts fail, the president is prepared to take whatever steps are necessary,” Mattis told House Armed Services Committee later Tuesday.
“I will fly in and we will continue to try to work with them,” the official added.
The accusations against Pakistan of providing support to terrorists were voiced by US President Donald Trump in late August.
“Pakistan often gives safe havens to agents of chaos, violence and terror. We can no longer be silent about Pakistan’s safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond,” Trump said, adding that the country had “much to lose by continuing to harbor terrorists.”
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson joined Trump, threatening to cut US aid to the country unless Islamabad stops its alleged support for terrorists.
“The amount of aid and military assistance we give them, their status as non-NATO alliance partner – all of that can be put on the table,” Tillerson said.
Islamabad reacted angrily to the accusations, calling them a “false narrative” and stating that the US should not make Pakistan a “scapegoat for their failures in Afghanistan.” Pakistan’s “commitment to the war against terrorism is unmatched and unshaken,” Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said in August.”
Let us try this nonsense one more time! lol

“Pakistan’s military says authorities have executed three militants sentenced to death by military courts after being convicted of carrying out terror attacks in recent years.
A statement from the military says the executions took place at a prison in the country’s northwest on Wednesday.
The executions came day after a rights group, Justice Project Pakistan, expressed concern over the multitude of executions taking place, saying that the country has sent 477 prisoners to the gallows since 2014.
The group also announced a weeklong public awareness campaign against executions ahead of World Day Against the Death Penalty, Oct. 10.
Pakistan halted executions in 2008 due to pressure from rights groups but reinstated capital punishment after the Taliban attacked a school in the city of Peshawar, killing 150 people, mostly schoolchildren.”

A coup attempt, which mainly involved members of the army, took place across the country on July 15, 2016. Most of the struggle happened in the capital Ankara and in Istanbul. More than 240 Turkish citizens were killed and over 2,000 wounded during the unsuccessful military takeover.
The Turkish government has accused Fethullah Gulen, an Islamic preacher living in the United States, of involvement in the coup and demanded his extradition to Turkey. More than 50,000 people were arrested and 100,000 dismissed or suspended from their jobs within the post-coup crackdown inside Turkey.”
Refugee Crisis: Inflow of Migrants ‘Boosts Sentiments of Xenophobia’ in Greece (sputniknews, Oct 4, 2017)
https://sputniknews.com/analysis/201710041057933829-greece-refugees-crisis-xenophobia/
“The ever-increasing number of refugees, who continue to arrive in Greece from Middle East war zones, may provoke the existing fraught situation in the country, political analyst Vassilis Fouskas told Sputnik.
“The reason behind this type of mass population shift is the American-led wars in Central Asia and the Middle East,” he said.
Fouskas described conditions in the refugee camps as “appalling”, adding that “the camps with the capacity of 1,000 people have [instead] 4,000 people” and that riots and outbursts of violence are not uncommon there.
As far as Greece is concerned, the growing inflow of migrants to the country may have serious repercussions, according to Fouskas.
“It definitely increases sentiments of xenophobia and boosts the popularity of the right-wing Golden Dawn party [in Greece]. This is pretty much the case across Europe, but in Greece it is even more pronounced because the country is kind of the first destination for refugees before they move northwards to the Balkans, Austria, Germany and Scandinavian countries,” he said…”

Le Pen Calls for Tough Anti-Terror Law in France, Islamism Seeks ‘to Enslave Us’ (breitbart, Oct 4, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/10/04/le-pen-calls-for-tough-anti-terror-law-france-islamism-seeks-enslave-us/
“In the wake of the Marseille jihadist attack Saturday, French politician Marine Le Pen has called for anti-terrorist legislation that directly combats Islamist ideology, which “wages war” on the West and seeks “our enslavement.”
As the French Parliament debates a new anti-terror bill put forward by the Ministry of the Interior, the President of the National Front Party, Marine Le Pen, has labeled the proposed legislation “shameful” for its lack of teeth, calling instead for a “great anti-terrorist law,” which would recognize a terrorist act as “an act of war,” and which “truly combats the Islamist ideology that has planned our enslavement.”
On Saturday, an illegal Tunisian immigrant allegedly stabbed two young women to death in Marseille while shouting “Allahu Akbar” (god is greater), in a terrorist act claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group.
The man’s victims were two cousins in their twenties, one of whom he killed by slitting her throat with a knife. This is the latest instance of a long string of jihadist terror acts perpetrated throughout the French Republic in the last months.
According to the Paris-based Center for the Analysis of Terrorism, France is the Islamic State’s number-one target in the West, and with some 30 percent of Islamic State foreign attacks taking place on French soil.
During a press conference Tuesday morning, Le Pen sharply criticized the existing proposal, insisting that Islamic terrorism must be called by its name and treated as the menace it is.
Later, Le Pen quoted herself on Twitter, noting: “The Islamist ideology is a political-religious ideology that has planned our enslavement and wages war on us.”
“We must never get used to terrorism,” Le Pen told reporters, adding that “security is the first duty of a state.”
During her address, Le Pen called for the “systematic expulsion of foreign delinquents” and more generally to facilitate the deportation of foreigners in irregular situations.
“Terrorist organizations take advantage of European weakness,” she said, and “the great law on terrorism should have as its aim the eradication of the manifestations of Islamist ideology everywhere and in all its forms.””
Las Vegas gunman’s girlfriend returns to US for questioning
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas gunman’s girlfriend, back in the United States after a weekslong trip abroad, will be at the center of the investigation into the shooting deaths of 59 people as authorities try to determine why a man with no known record of violence or crime would open fire on a concert crowd from a high-rise hotel.
Stephen Paddock’s girlfriend Marilou Danley, 62, who was in the Philippines at the time of the shooting, was met by FBI agents at the airport in Los Angeles late Tuesday night, according to a law enforcement official.

This is the moment the girlfriend of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, who killed 59 people and wounded 527 others over the weekend, was met by federal investigators after landing at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
Marilou Danley, who authorities described as a ‘person of interest’ following Sunday’s shooting massacre, arrived in the US at 7.17pm PST after a flight from the Philippines. She was seen being wheeled through LAX in a wheelchair in footage obtained by NBC News.
The 62-year-old was wearing a hat and light blue jacket and was pushing a black suitcase in front of her. It is not yet clear where she was taken or why she was in the wheelchair.
A police official revealed she voluntarily returned to the U.S. in a bid to ‘clear her name’ of any involvement in the massacre. Her siblings have since broken their silence insisting she was unaware of Paddock’s motives.
It has since been suggested that Danley may have been living a double life. Public documents showed she was married to two men at once, used two Social Security numbers, lived in multiple addresses in several different states and had two dates of birth, according to Newsweek.
It comes hours after police released terrifying bodycam footage that shows Las Vegas cops racing towards Paddock’s sniper nest as he unleashed minute upon minute of automatic weapons fire on concert-goers below.

EU: ‘Illegal Migrants in Morocco Have European Union Refugee Rights’ (breitbart, Oct 4, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/10/04/illegal-migrants-morocco-eu-refugee-rights/
“The European Court of Human Rights has made a landmark ruling that migrants who cross border fences which are still outside European Union territory have ‘rights as refugees’ – meaning Spanish authorities will no longer be allowed to return illegal immigrants to Morocco who storm border fences at the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
The precedent was set following the ruling of two cases of illegal African migrants who were returned by Spanish border guards to Morocco after crossing the border fence in Melilla – despite the migrants technically still being in Moroccan territory at the time of their apprehension, reports Die Welt.
In the case of ‘N.D. and N.T. vs Spain’, the Strasbourg judges ruled in favour of two migrants from Mali and the Ivory Coast who were, on two occasions, directly arrested by the Spanish border police and handed over to Moroccan authorities at the Melilla border in 2014.
The judges condemned Spain for not giving the illegal immigrants access to lawyers or interpreters or allowing them to make complaints to Spain. The Court determined there was “no doubt” these actions amounted to ‘prohibited illegal deportations’, and both migrants were awarded €5,000.
The Spanish government argued that, amongst other considerations, the men had not yet reached any Spanish territory because the fences were still outside the exclave – an area the pro-migrant NGO European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) that supported the case calls “a lawless zone of automatic expulsions”.
However, Strasbourg determined that as the Spanish police had de facto control in the border area, the standards of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) also applied there.
The Court’s decision stated that Spain’s “push-back” practices at the Spanish-Moroccan border are in violation of Article 4 Protocol 4 (prohibition of collective expulsions) and Article 13 (right to an effective remedy) ECHR…”
Las Vegas Shooter Sent Girlfriend Marilou Danley Away to Spare Her, Sisters Say
by Alastair Jamieson and Tracy Connor
The Las Vegas gunman who unleashed the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history bought his girlfriend a ticket to the Philippines and “sent her away” to spare her life, her distraught sisters said Wednesday.
Stephen Paddock bought Marilou Danley “a cheap ticket” to her home country two weeks before he opened fire on a country music concert on the Las Vegas Strip.
Investigators believe Danley, 62, who arrived back in the U.S. late Tuesday escorted by FBI agents, could fill in some of the blanks as to why Paddock assembled an arsenal of guns and killed 58 people.

Photos emerge of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock’s body….and there is a NOTE
PHOTOS have leaked online of the dead body of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock – and he appears to have left a note.
The killer, 64, massacred 59 people from his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay in the worst rampage in the history of the US.
SWAT cops burst into his 32nd floor room and were met with the grim scene of 23 guns, ammunition littering the floor, and the dead Paddock.
Police also confirmed today the shooter had cameras hooked up into his hotel room.
Images have leaked showing Paddock lying dead on the hotel room floor with blood pouring from his mouth.
The gunman appears to be wearing a brown shirt, black slacks, loafers and a pair of gloves.
Chillingly, he appears to have left some kind of note on the side table.

Las Vegas gunman set up camera inside his hotel room
Las Vegas madman Stephen Paddock set up a camera inside his hotel room during his deadly shooting rampage — and other surveillance in the hallway to alert him as cops closed in on him, officials said.
The shooter had placed a camera by the peephole in his room at the Mandalay Bay Casino, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Kevin McMahill. Earlier, ABC News had reported he had a camera in his room to record himself.
Paddock also wired up two cameras in the hallway outside his room, McMahill said.
Police officials said the cameras had been meant to help Paddock watch out for cops, though it is not clear how he might have been monitoring them.
Paddock killed 59 people and injured more than 500 in the worst mass shooting in US history.

Meticulous Planning by Las Vegas Gunman Before He Opened Fire
LAS VEGAS — Before he mowed down concertgoers from a perch high in a hotel tower, Stephen C. Paddock created a ring of surveillance around him, with video cameras in his suite and in the hallway, law enforcement officials said on Tuesday. But investigators were still at a loss to offer a motive for the massacre.
The cameras — apparently intended to warn of approaching threats — along with the 23 guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and other equipment found in the gunman’s hotel suite, suggested a thought-out plan to have plenty of time to wreak carnage while holding the police at bay.
Local and federal investigators were also eager to interview the gunman’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who had been in the Philippines. She arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday night and was met by the authorities, according to a law enforcement official. Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that at a minimum, she might shed some light on what was going through the mind of the gunman, who killed himself as the police prepared to enter his room.

One of my questions has been answered, he had so many weapons because he didn’t know how to change magazines quickly. He was using what is called a New York City reload, dropping the empty weapons and grabbing a loaded one.
I have been wondering same. He had 28 second pause before he continued shooting in one video

Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock wired $100,000 to an account in his live-in girlfriend’s home country, the Philippines, in the week before he unleashed the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, according to multiple senior law enforcement officials.
But while officials have confirmed that Marilou Danley was in the Philippines on Sunday when Paddock opened fire on a crowd attending a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, it was not known whether the money was for her or her family or for another purpose.

At his local Starbucks, Las Vegas shooter remembered for berating his girlfriend
The workers behind the counter at the Starbucks inside the Virgin River Casino in Mesquite, Nev., winced whenever Stephen Paddock and his girlfriend, Marilou Danley, lined up for their usual beverages.
That’s because Paddock had a nasty habit of berating Danley in public. “It happened a lot,” Esperanza Mendoza, supervisor of the Starbucks, said Tuesday.
Their order was always the same. He’d get a venti mocha cappuccino and she a medium caramel macchiato.
Workers remembered Paddock as a tall man with a big beer belly and heavy bags under his eyes.

Las Vegas Strip shooter prescribed anti-anxiety drug in June
Stephen Paddock, who killed at least 58 people and wounded hundreds more in Las Vegas on Sunday with high-powered rifles, was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug in June that can lead to aggressive behavior, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has learned.
Paddock also transferred $100,000 to the Philippines in the days before the shooting, a U.S. official briefed by law enforcement but not authorized to speak publicly because of the continuing investigation told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.
Investigators are still trying to trace that money and are looking into at least a dozen reports over the past several weeks that said Paddock gambled more than $10,000 per day, the official said.

Catalonia to move to declare independence from Spain on Monday
MADRID/BARCELONA, Oct 4 (Reuters) – Catalonia will move on Monday to declare independence from Spain, a regional government source said, as the European Union nation nears a rupture that threatens the foundations of its young democracy and has unnerved financial markets.
Pro-independence parties which control the regional parliament have asked for a debate and vote on Monday on declaring independence, the source said. A declaration should follow this vote, although it is unclear when.
Catalan President Carles Puigdemont earlier told the BBC that his government would ask the region’s parliament to declare independence after tallying votes from last weekend’s referendum, which Madrid says was illegal.
“This will probably finish once we get all the votes in from abroad at the end of the week and therefore we shall probably act over the weekend or early next week,” he said in remarks published on Wednesday.
The constitutional crisis in Spain, the euro zone’s fourth-biggest economy, has shaken the common currency and hit Spanish stocks and bonds, sharply raising Madrid’s borrowing costs.

Catalan officials mull date for independence declaration
Catalonia’s regional government is mulling when to declare the region’s independence from Spain in the wake of a disputed referendum that has triggered Spain’s most serious national crisis in decades. Some lawmakers say that will happen Monday.
The region’s pro-independence president, Carles Puigdemont, who has said an independence declaration will come in a few days, is delivering a speech later Wednesday. He’s also addressing the regional parliament on Monday to review the vote — a session that his parliamentary supporters in the radical, anti-capitalist CUP group say will consider the independence declaration.
Spain, which has declared Sunday’s referendum illegal and invalid, is bitterly opposed to any independence move.
Spain’s conservative government has said it will respond with “all necessary measures” to counter Catalan defiance, and is holding talks with opposition leaders in Madrid to forge a consensus over what to do in response.

Catalan crisis ‘bigger threat to EU than Brexit’, MEP warns
Strasbourg (France) (AFP) – The crisis in Catalonia poses a bigger threat to the EU than Brexit, a senior MEP warned Wednesday as the European Parliament prepared to hold an emergency debate on Spain’s worst political crisis in decades.
Catalonia’s leader has vowed to declare independence within days, claiming a mandate from a weekend referendum which was declared illegal by Madrid and the Spanish courts and marred by violence.
Images of the police crackdown on the vote drew a vocal reaction from some MEPs, with Belgium’s Philippe Lamberts, the head of the Green grouping in parliament, warning the crisis “threatened the spirit of European integration, even more than Brexit”.
Several Green and far-left deputies criticised the Spanish police for their actions.
But Esteban Gonzalez Pons, an MEP from Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s Popular Party, rejected calls for mediation, saying Spain did not need “looking after”.

An historic 2014 referendum on leaving the United Kingdom shook the country to the core and resulted in a narrow 55 percent vote against a split.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, head of the pro-independence Scottish National Party, wants a second referendum once the outlines of the deal for Britain’s exit from the European Union become clear.
Scotland, home to 5.2 million people, has been semi-autonomous since 1998 with a devolved parliament that handles matters of education, health, environment and justice, while diplomacy and defence remain the domain of London.
After scores of people were injured in Catalonia during its banned referendum on independence on Sunday, Sturgeon called on Spain to “change course” and condemned the police intervention.
– Flanders, Belgium –
Born in 1830 as an independent state to act as a buffer between France and Germany, Belgium is an uneasy mix of a Flemish-speaking, conservative north and a French, left-leaning south.
With Flemish nationalist sentiment more powerful than ever, the separatist New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) has emerged as the biggest party in the country and a key partner in the coalition government.
Aiming for the eventual creation of a Flemish republic, the N-VA believes it could emerge strengthened from elections in 2019.
On Sunday Flanders’ Minister-President Geert Bourgeois called on Madrid to start talks with “the legitimate leaders of a peaceful people”.

It looks like the civil wars in Europe are starting, this wasn’t the way that I saw them starting or the way I saw some of the European nations breaking up.
Once the wars and breakup start the violence will snowball and spread like a wildfire.
It would fit, though.
Spanish Civil War (1936-39) was the teaser for WW-2.
Everytime I saw Antifa-Europe I got Sp Civil War vibes.
It does fit, every time I see antifa I get early SS vibes. Both vibes are probably right.
The Spanish Civil War was a training war for portions of the German and Soviet military, the early civil war in Spain may once again be either a training war or a trigger for the big war like the assassination of the Arch Duke was.
Catalonia to move to declare independence from Spain on Monday
MADRID/BARCELONA (Reuters) – Catalonia will move on Monday to declare independence from Spain, a regional government source said, as the European Union nation nears a rupture that threatens the foundations of its young democracy and has unnerved financial markets.
On Wednesday, the Ibex stock index , fell below 10,000 points for the first time since March 2015 as bank stocks tumbled. In a sign of the nervous public mood, Catalonia’s biggest bank, Caixabank , and Spain’s economy minister had earlier sought to assure bank customers that their deposits were safe.

Brutality of crackdown as calculated move to increase opposition to Madrid exponentially.
=> Encourage the idiot PM Rajoy (from Franco’s home province, legacy enemy) to double-down and use Storm-Troopers [Muslim-reinforced?] against unarmed civilian population. He does not identify with these people, nor do his militia thugs. Who are they?
=> Savage assault brings over many who’ve been opposed to separation. Even confirmed NO-voters are demanding that Rajoy step down. At a minimum.
=> Mimics Franco’s early attacks against the Republic. Incited reaction to his use of the seriously vicious Guardia Civil of the era. La Brigada Internacional contributed BIGLY to the destabilization and prolonged the war by years.

Either way the central government is likely to collapse shortly. Economic wipe-out.
Catalunya accounts for a fifth of Spain’s GDP with less than 15% of the population. I’m not convinced those figures are accurate; besides, that set of statistics understates the position significantly.
In terms of human capital, investment, innovation, and work-ethic, Catalunya is light-years ahead of the rest of the country. But it’s marching double-time to halal hell.
Implications for the EU are yuge.
N.J. mega car dealer pulls TV ads over NFL protests
RARITAN TWP. — In response to the ongoing controversy surrounding NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, the owner of Flemington Car and Truck Country has pulled the dealership’s ads from broadcasts of games for the remainder of the 2017 season.
“The National Football League and its owners have shown their fans and marketing partners that they do not have a comprehensive policy to ensure that players stand and show respect for America and our flag during the playing of the national anthem,” Steve Kalafer said in a statement. “We have cancelled all of our NFL advertising on the Optimum and Infinity (cable) networks.”
Kalafer is also part of the Somerset Patriots’ ownership group, an independent professional baseball team based in Somerset County.

Belgium moves to expel mosque imam over security fears
Brussels (AFP) – Belgium has moved to expel an Egyptian preacher at the country’s biggest mosque because he posed a “national security” threat, officials said on Tuesday.

“Are We Getting Two for One?”
By Christopher Hitchens – May 5, 2008
Excerpt:
I direct your attention to Mrs. Obama’s 1985 thesis at Princeton University. Its title (rather limited in scope, given the author and the campus) is “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.” To describe it as hard to read would be a mistake; the thesis cannot be “read” at all, in the strict sense of the verb. This is because it wasn’t written in any known language. Anyway, at quite an early stage in the text, Michelle Obama announces that she’s much influenced by the definition of black “separationism” offered by Stokely Carmichael and Charles Hamilton in their 1967 screed Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America.

A Sexist who is also a Racist, when are the Propaganda media going to start screaming about how evil she is because of her sexism and racism?
Russia throws North Korea lifeline to stymie regime change
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia is quietly boosting economic support for North Korea to try to stymie any U.S.-led push to oust Kim Jong Un as Moscow fears his fall would sap its regional clout and allow U.S. troops to deploy on Russia’s eastern border.
Though Moscow wants to try to improve battered U.S.-Russia relations in the increasingly slim hope of relief from Western sanctions over Ukraine, it remains strongly opposed to what it sees as Washington’s meddling in other countries’ affairs.
Russia is already angry about a build-up of U.S.-led NATO forces on its western borders in Europe and does not want any replication on its Asian flank.
Yet while Russia has an interest in protecting North Korea, which started life as a Soviet satellite state, it is not giving Pyongyang a free pass: it backed tougher United Nations sanctions against North Korea over its nuclear tests last month.

“Turkey will take stronger steps in retaliation for the Iraqi Kurdish referendum last week, having already taken some measures in coordination with the Iraqi central government and Iran, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday.
At a joint news conference in Tehran with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, broadcast live on Turkish television, Erdogan said the referendum had no legitimacy and had only been recognised by Israel.
He also said the goal of raising Turkish-Iranian trade volume to $30 billion (22.62 billion pounds) from $10 billion remained on the agenda and the two countries would conduct trade in their own currencies to limit foreign exchange pressures.”

A motorcycle parked outside the Jordanian military attache’s office in Paris exploded on Wednesday, causing minor damage to the surrounding vehicles.
According to the Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman, no one was injured in the explosion. Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
Official sources dismissed the suggestion that the explosion intentionally targeted Jordan.
Israel and J.E. Dyer have been predicting that Iran would move on Jordan next, looks like they are starting to make that move.

Prof calls for repeal of 2nd amendment, tweets ‘dumb f*ck in White House won’t keep us safe’
By Ben Bowles October 4, 2017
In addition to writing, golfing, loving peace, and teaching at Eastern Connecticut State University, Bob Englehart enjoys cartooning. That information comes courtesy of his Twitter bio, which appears below a cartoon rendering of himself saying, “Love to talk? I do. Invite me to speak and draw at your event.”
Before you rush to avail yourself of Englehart’s offer, you should know what sorts of things he says when he speaks. Among them are profanities directed at the president of the United States, whom in one tweet he calls a “dumb f*ck.”
What has Englenart’s knickers all knotted is the shooting in Las Vegas last Sunday, which has so far claimed 59 lives. Actually, his pique, like that of so many liberals, is less over the death toll than it is over what they believe to be the cause of the massacre: the Second Amendment, which Englehart would like to see repealed:

California Democrat says all pro-gun politicians are as guilty as the Las Vegas shooter
By LU Staff October 3, 2017
Whenever a tragedy like Sunday’s occurs, you can count on liberals to show their true colors. Examples include a teacher who offered her prayers online that the victims of the massacre would all turn out to be “Trumptards” and a CBS executive who said she had no sympathy for the victims as “country music fans are often Republicans.” She didn’t clarify whether her bad tidings go equally for the 11% of Republicans who didn’t vote for Donald Trump.
Among politicians who behaved badly was the speaker of the California State Assembly, who said Monday that all pro-gun politicians and lobbyists are just as responsible for the 59 casualties sustained Sunday night in Las Vegas shooter as the gunman himself.
Democrat Anthony Rendon tweeted that shooter Stephen Paddock didn’t act alone in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, blaming every gun lobbyist and politician that supports the Second Amendment.
Rendon added that the police gave a false statement by saying the shooter appeared to have acted as a lone wolf.
“The police say the shooter appeared to have acted alone. That’s not true,” Rendon said.

FBI’s shocking report: The ‘Ferguson effect’ is real
At first glance, the number seems like an error — as if an FBI statistician had accidentally transposed some digits in the bureau’s annual report on crime released earlier this week.
Were there really 765 murders in Chicago in 2016? A year after the city tallied 478, and the year before that 411? A reader unfamiliar with Chicago’s recent crime history would likely say the true number has to be 576 or, worst case, 675.
Alas, anyone who has been paying attention to violence in Chicago knows the FBI didn’t make a mistake — the shocking number is accurate. Chicago’s annual murder total jumped 86% in the space of two years, evoking memories of the early 1990s crack wars when annual homicide totals regularly approached 1,000.
As Fordham University law professor John Pfaff noted on Twitter, Chicago alone was responsible for 22% of the nationwide murder increase in 2016.
Although that horrifying statistic stands out, Chicago’s wave of killing wasn’t an aberration, nationally speaking. Six other major U.S. cities experienced a surge in murders in at least one year between 2014 and 2016.

https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20171004-arab-women-investors-union-honours-sisi-for-supporting-women/
“The Arab Women Investors Union honoured Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday for his alleged efforts to empower women in the country, according to Daily News Egypt.
The award, presented at the Arab League’s “Towards Sustainable Development” conference in Sharm Al-Sheikh, was received by Sahar Nasr, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and International Cooperation.
Nasr spoke of the numerous reforms that Al-Sisi had implemented and argued that changes, such as increasing the provision of social safety nets, had alleviated the pressure Egyptian women faced.
In return the Arab Women Investors Union announced its intention to pump some 1.7 billion Egyptian pounds ($96.4 million) in new joint investments in the country.
Egypt is currently making numerous economic reforms as part of a conditional loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). These have included cuts to numerous public services, including electricity and water, and imposing more taxes. Such changes have often severely impacted women who, following a rise in the price of cooking gas cylinders, have found it difficult to feed their families…”

BREITBART – UK – Prime Minister’s Speech Repeatedly Interrupted as She Loses Her Voice, is Presented With P45
The prime minister was handed a P45 — the British government tax form that comes with unemployment — during her keynote speech at the Conservative party conference in Manchester Wednesday.
The key speech, intended to shore up the prime minister’s position with her MPs and key supporters amongst swirling rumours of a leadership challenge was repeatedly interrupted — not just by a man climbing up to the stage to hand her the paper as a protest — but by Theresa May almost totally losing her voice.

Pakistan Is Inviting Its Favorite Jihadis Into Parliament (foreignpolicy, Oct 4, 2017)
http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/10/04/pakistan-is-inviting-its-favorite-jihadis-into-parliament/
“It might seem like the Pakistani military is trying to defang its ostensible adversaries. It’s really trying to empower them.
he notorious jihadi Hafiz Saeed has apparently had a change of heart. Like many extremists in Pakistan, the 67-year-old firebrand used to rage against democracy. But earlier this month a new political party, controlled in all but name by Saeed — the leader of the militant organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, and the alleged mastermind of a string of horrific massacres in India, including the killing of 166 people in Mumbai nine years ago — peacefully contested its first by-election for national parliament.
Bearded party workers from the Milli Muslim League wandered the streets of Lahore in hi-visibility jackets. Posters of Saeed were plastered across the city, in direct contravention of a ruling by the Election Commission, which does not recognize the MML as a party. The candidate backed by the MML, Yaqoob Sheikh, himself designated a terrorist by the U.S. Treasury in 2012, notched up an unexpectedly high 5 percent of the vote for the former National Assembly seat of recently ousted prime minister, Nawaz Sharif. (A further 6 percent went to another new Islamist party, the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, founded to cherish the legacy of a man who was hanged for the murder of a senator campaigning for reform of the country’s strict blasphemy laws.)
Why have bloodthirsty, anti-democratic groups suddenly chosen to enter the world of politics — and how have they been allowed to operate so openly? For the answer, look to Pakistan’s army.
Earlier this year, according to Muhammad Amir Rana of the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies, the military held successful talks with several “banned organizations” over a deradicalization strategy that would, in theory, see them drop their AK-47s and pick up clipboards.
Well-meaning supporters of the strategy argue that not all extremists can be killed or locked up. Some point to the IRA in Ireland or Islamist radicals in Indonesia as proof that political engagement can defang terrorist groups. Others ask why the political transition now seen as the inevitable path of the Afghan Taliban should not also apply to Pakistan’s own jihadis.
But deradicalization is tricky at the best of times, and the conditions that made it work elsewhere in the past simply don’t apply to Pakistan today…”

CBC – Man charged in Edmonton attacks was ordered deported from U.S. in 2011
Immigration judge ordered Abdulahi Hasan Sharif deported back to Somalia
The Somali refugee accused of stabbing an Edmonton police constable on the weekend and running down four pedestrians was ordered to be deported from the United States in 2011 by a U.S. immigration judge, CBC News has learned.
In July 2011, U.S. Customs and Border Protection transferred Abdulahi Hasan Sharif into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego, Calif., according to Jennifer D. Elzea, acting press secretary for the ICE office of public affairs.
Two months later, on Sept. 22, 2011, an immigration judge ordered Sharif removed to Somalia. Sharif waived his right to appeal that decision.
But Sharif was released on Nov. 23, 2011, on an ICE order of supervision, “due to a lack of likelihood of his removal in the reasonably foreseeable future,” Elzea said in a statement to CBC News.
Sharif failed to report to the ICE enforcement and removal operations centre on his scheduled date, Jan. 24, 2012.
“Efforts by ERO San Diego to locate him were not successful,” Elzea said.
Sharif had no known criminal history at the time of his dealings with ICE, she said.
Sharif crossed the border into Canada in 2012, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said Monday in Ottawa.
Goodale said Sharif arrived through a “regular port of entry” and obtained refugee status at the time.
In 2012, immigration officials had no reason to red flag Sharif, Goodale said. Events in Edmonton over the weekend in no way indicate that Canada’s screening process needs to be enhanced, or that the system failed, he said.
It’s not known at present whether Sharif made an asylum claim while in the United States.
If he did make an asylum claim in the United States and that claim was rejected, normally Sharif wouldn’t be able to make a claim in Canada under the Safe Third Country Rule, said Calgary immigration lawyer Michael Greene.
But Canada has made exceptions for minors or people with family in Canada, Greene said.
“An asylum seeker or potential refugee claimant, even if they’ve been in the U.S., can still in some cases make a refugee claim here,” he said.
A spokesperson for the Office of the Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada confirmed in an email statement Tuesday that Sharif “entered Canada from the United States through a regular Port of Entry in 2012 and was found to be a refugee? later that year.
“According to U.S. authorities, he was not detained for criminal activity,” the spokesperson added.
“In general it is to be noted that only individuals who are inadmissible, including for serious criminality, would be ineligible to make an asylum claim. Being detained for immigration purposes in another country would not prevent someone from being able to make an asylum claim in Canada.”
Now facing 11 charges, including attempted murder, Sharif made a brief first appearance Tuesday in an Edmonton courtroom.
Provincial court Judge Laura Stevens put the case over for six weeks to allow time for Sharif to get a lawyer and for the Crown to disclose whatever evidence it has.
Sharif, 30, is charged with five counts of attempted murder, four counts of criminal flight causing bodily harm, and one count each of dangerous driving and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 14. Stevens said bail can be spoken to any time before then with a few days’ notice.
At his court appearance today, Sharif had bruises on his forehead and cheek that Edmonton police said resulted during two vehicle crashes on Saturday night. A Somali interpreter helped him during the proceedings.
Edmonton defence lawyer Chady Moustarah assisted Sharif for Tuesday’s appearance only. He said a community member is in the process of retaining counsel for Sharif.
Mahamad Accord, a member of Edmonton’s Somali community who identified himself as being with the Edmonton Coalition of Human Rights and Justice, was at the courthouse to support Sharif.
Accord said he has been learning more about the accused, including that he has family in Canada — a brother in Toronto.
“Everyone who knows him [Sharif] said this is out of character,” Accord said. “There is a mental health issue, we suspect.”
Outside court, Moustarah said he believes Sharif is being held in the mental health unit at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
He said Sharif is experiencing “some confusion” because he hasn’t had previous involvement with the justice system.

CBC – Psychiatrist says serial rapist Sofyan Boalag high risk to re-offend without treatment
He was convicted for sexual assaults on two women and a teenager in 2012
A forensic psychiatrist said she believes convicted criminal Sofyan Boalag is a high risk to re-offend if he was released now.
Dr. Jasbir Gill provided that opinion in provincial court in St. John’s Monday — at a hearing to determine if Boalag should be declared a dangerous offender.
Boalag, 38, was convicted of sexually assaulting two women and a 15-year-old girl in St. John’s in the summer and fall of 2012 in St. John’s.
Gill had previously assessed Boalag at the Waterford Hospital and, in court Monday, said Boalag told her that Canadian women don’t respect men, and that he doesn’t like the fact that women in this country drink, do drugs, and have friendships with men.
Gill said Boalag also said he wouldn’t have committed the sexual assaults if he wasn’t drinking and doing cocaine.
Boalag only accepts responsibility for what he did “in so far as he was found guilty,” according to Gill.
Boalag said ‘he was disgusted’ with himself
The psychiatrist said Boalag blames the crimes on his substance abuse, and doesn’t have insight into his sexual behaviour. But Gill said she couldn’t identify any specific sexual disorder in Boalag. She noted that he needed to be in control in a relationship, was jealous and insecure.
According to Gill, Boalag told her, “I’m not that kind of person,” when confronted about the assaults. She said he didn’t see himself as being violent.
Gill testified that Boalag said he had blacked out and didn’t remember the assaults, and wouldn’t have believed he had done them if it wasn’t for the DNA evidence and surveillance video.
She said that when Boalag was told the details of what he had done he said he was “disgusted with himself and didn’t enjoy it.”
“He doesn’t show any signs of major mental issues,” said Gill.
Rehabilitation possible
Gill said that Boalag denied having any sexual fantasies about rape. During her assessment, Boalag didn’t make eye contact, was tense and apprehensive, and was not spontaneous during interviews.
Gill said Boalag told her that what he did was “not good” because he wouldn’t want anyone to do that to his sister.
Gill said that without treatment for his drug and alcohol problems and his issues with women, Boalag would be a high risk to re-offend. But, with more time in prison, and the proper treatment and intervention, he would be a good candidate for rehabilitation, according to Gill.
Boalag: ‘normal’ sex life with wife
Gill said that when Boalag came to Canada, he was married to a woman in Algeria named Nadia. Gill said that Boalag told her that his wife was “respectful” of him, and that she stayed at home and only associated with family, and that’s the way he liked it.
Boalag told Gill, “Nadia never did anything to make him mad.” She said Boalag described his sex life with his wife as normal, with no violence, and said they did not have premarital sex.
Despite being married, Gill said that Boalag had two relationships with women in St. John’s, but Nadia left him after he was charged with the crimes.
On Tuesday, Boalag’s victims are expected to read their impact statements to the court. If Boalag is declared a dangerous offender, he could be given an indefinite jail sentence.

CBC – Suicide attempts, PTSD and fears: Victims of serial rapist recount impact of his crimes
Sofyan Boalag was convicted of sexually assaulting two women and a teenager in St. John’s
One of the victims of serial rapist Sofyan Boalag said the assault “will stay with me forever” — while two other women assaulted by Boalag detailed similar harrowing experiences in court Tuesday brought on by his crimes against them.
“This was an attack against my body as well as my freedom to be an individual, freedom of being a person with rights, freedom of being an independent woman,” the first woman told the court while reading her victim impact statement in provincial court in St. John’s.
Crying at times, the woman continued, “Fears of men, fears of walking on the streets. I couldn’t walk by myself after five p.m. and I had, every day, to fight my fears and convince myself to walk to work.”
It’s the second day of a hearing to determine if Boalag, 38, should be deemed a dangerous offender.
Two years ago, Boalag was convicted of sexually assaulting two women and a 15-year-old girl in St. John’s in the summer and fall of 2012 in St. John’s.
‘Broken body, broken mind’
The woman continued to outline the toll Boalag’s attack took on all aspects of her life.
“For a year, I had to take a lot of cabs at night to meet with friends, and it constituted a real expense on my budget,” she told the court.
“Being a victim was difficult to handle … I didn’t want people to think of me as the poor girl each time they think or talk about me.”
She said she waited a year to tell her sister what had happened and that her feelings about sex have been forever changed.
“It was taken without my consent, and it doesn’t mean the same now to authorize or consent to intercourse. I will never have that back.
She detailed the stress surrounding getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases following the rape.
“I had always been very careful in my relationships, and in a minute, I felt that my life was in danger,” she said.
“That year I felt like had the sword of Damocles dangling above my head, ready to fall each time I had a new medical exam.”
She ended her statement by saying, “Being sexually assaulted lead to a year of intense stress for me — a broken body, a broken mind, a damaged freedom and a lost soul that I have had to face and repair.”
‘I have flashbacks of torture’
Another woman who was sexually assaulted by Boalag told the court that she has “a nightmare every night.”
“I am now afraid of walking alone at night — afraid of men that I don’t know,” she said.
She said she turned to alcohol to help her get through the trauma and became depressed. She too spoke of waiting anxiously for the results of STD tests
“I have flashbacks of torture, how I could have lost my life that day,” she said.
Outside of court, she said that she now has a fear of foreign men and wishes she didn’t. Boalag came to Canada from Algeria.
“I’m not a racist,” she said.
Teen victim tells of 2 suicide attempts
A third victim impact statement, written by a girl who was 15 when Boalag raped her, was read to the court by Crown prosecutor Trisha McCarthy.
In the statement, the girl said she tried to commit suicide twice because of the trauma she suffered, once by swallowing 82 anti-depressants.
She said she became very unstable after the attack.
“I was deprived of being a normal teenager,” she said. She told the court, through the statement, she had to drop out of high school, and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
On Monday during the hearing, Dr. Jasbir Gill testified that without treatment for his drug and alcohol problems and his issues with women, Boalag would be a high risk to reoffend.
But Gill — who had previously assessed Boalag at the Waterford Hospital — said with more time in prison, proper treatment and intervention, Boalag would be a good candidate for rehabilitation.
If Boalag is declared a dangerous offender, he could be given an indefinite jail sentence.
The hearing continues Wednesday, when it is expected the Crown and defence will present arguments to Judge Pamela Goulding, who is presiding over the hearing to determine if Boalag should be classified a dangerous offender.

Lesson for those in Canada: Handle these things privately. Putting out a contract might be more cost effective than hiring a lawyer, shrinks, et al.

BREITBART – UK to Imprison People Who View ‘Far-Right Propaganda’ Online for Up to 15 Years
People in the United Kingdom could face up to fifteen years in prison for repeatedly viewing “far-right propaganda” or “terrorist material” online, according to a report.
According to the Guardian, “A new maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment will also apply to terrorists who publish information about members of the armed forces, police and intelligence services for the purposes of preparing acts of terrorism,” while the “tightening of the law around viewing terrorist material is part of a review of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy following the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks in Britain this year.”
Users who view the forbidden content only once by mistake, or out of curiosity, will not be charged, and it is reported that there will also be protections for journalists, academics, and “others who may have a legitimate reason to view such material.”
“I want to make sure those who view despicable terrorist content online, including jihadi websites, far-right propaganda and bomb-making instructions, face the full force of the law,” declared British Home Secretary Amber Rudd. “There is currently a gap in the law around material [that] is viewed or streamed from the internet without being permanently downloaded.”
“This is an increasingly common means by which material is accessed online for criminal purposes and is a particularly prevalent means of viewing extremist material such as videos and web pages,” she continued.
Both Rudd and Prime Minister Theresa May have frequently expressed interest in cracking down on the Internet and implementing censorship.
After Rudd was recently asked by an individual why she wants to stop encryption when it was proven that she didn’t understand how it works, the Home Secretary replied, “It’s so easy to be patronised in this business.”
“We will do our best to understand it. We will take advice from other people. But I do feel that there is a sea of criticism for any of us who try and legislate in new areas, who will automatically be sneered at and laughed at for not getting it right,” she expressed. “I don’t need to understand how encryption works to understand how it’s helping the criminals. I will engage with the security services to find the best way to combat that.”

DEUTSCHE WELLE – Munich shooting: Gunman had ideological motivations, say experts
David S. killed nine people at a Munich shopping center last year, before shooting himself. Authorities didn’t believe the attack was motivated by extremist politics or ideology, but new findings suggest otherwise.
Contrary to police findings, an expert panel commissioned by the city of Munich found that Munich gunman David S. was motivated by extremist right-wing political ideology when he shot and killed nine people at shopping center in the Bavarian city.
Authorities last year classified the incident as a rampage, rather than a targeted attack. The public prosecutor’s office wrote that “it cannot be assumed that the crime was politically motivated,” while the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, described David S. as a “psychologically ill avenger” but not a “terrorist fighter.”
However, a panel of social scientists told Germany’s Süddeutsche Zeitung daily on Tuesday that official investigators had underestimated David S.’ racist, and specifically anti-migrant motivations, while also disregarding that the gunman had meticulously planned the attack.
ll nine people killed in the Munich shooting were of immigrant background. While David S. didn’t know his victims personally, he knew that he would meet people of immigrant background around the Munich shopping center, the experts said.
Racist motivations
The scientists also found that David S. had written a sort of manifesto, in which he pledged to execute “foreign subhumans” to protect Germany from “foreign infiltration.”
The timing of the attack was also important in establishing a right-wing extremist link. David S. carried out the shooting on the anniversary of Norwegian right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik’s twin attacks in 2011, which killed 77 people, mostly children.
The panel found that David S.’ own Iranian background didn’t take away from his racist attitude towards migrants. In fact, it appeared the gunman had wanted to prove himself as a “real German” by degrading and ultimately killing non-ethnic Germans.
The panel’s findings are expected to be presented before Munich’s city hall on Friday.
