  3. Nur Islam, 22, was caught on camera calmly entering the Commonwelath Bank in Springvale and then pouring petrol from a 20-litre container in the doorway.

    Footage shows him bending down and igniting the fuel using a lighter from his pocket, which then sparks a large fire which engulfs his entire body.

    Thick black smoke fills up in the bank as the fire continues to spread causing customers to flee.

    President of the university Guillaume Gellé wrote a letter to the student population on Sunday saying: “Access to the university premises located on the Red Cross campus is forbidden until security conditions are restored.”

    Controversial Mississauga Catholic elementary teacher Nadia Shoufani, suspended with pay last summer for spewing anti-Israel rhetoric at the 2016 Al-Quds Day hatefest, has resurfaced in a Sept. 10 online issue of al-Meshwar, a Holocaust-denying Arabic-language newspaper, which tried to endorse Niki Ashton for NDP leader last month.

    In the article (translated from Arabic by the B’nai Brith and entitled, “Here I have Won, and Woe to the Losers”), Shoufani contends that she has triumphed after a “fierce Zionist campaign” to intimidate and silence her and to “destroy” her life and career.

    Shoufani, who teaches special education, science and ESL at St. Catherine of Siena separate school claims all she was doing in her 2016 Al-Quds day speech was “supporting Palestine and exposing the crimes and practices of the Zionist occupation.”

    Attempts to reach Shoufani at her school Monday were unsuccessful.

  10. FRESNO, Calif. — A 30-year-old man who allegedly used a gun during an attempted robbery at a California Starbucks now plans to sue the good Samaritan who stepped in to stop the crime, according to KSEE.

    Back in July, Ryan Flores attempted to rob a Starbucks when Cregg Jerri, 58, attacked the suspect. In the video, the suspect is shown wearing a Transformers mask and threatening a barista. Seconds later, Jerri picks up a metal chair and hits the suspect in the back.

    During the altercation, Flores stabbed Jerri in the neck. Jerri eventually wrestled the knife away from Flores and stabbed the suspect multiple times, according to police.

    Theresa May will use a summit in New York tonight to warn the technology giants and their rivals that her patience is running out over their failure to clamp down on jihadi groups.

  20. Hungary set for fresh anti-Soros blitz

    Budapest (AFP) – Hungary is set to launch another state “national consultation” about US financier and philanthropist George Soros, the government said Tuesday, six months before expected general elections.

    The campaign would be to investigate public views on the “Soros plan”, and would likely be launched next month, government spokesman Bence Tuzson told public radio, without giving further details.

    Last week a top official in the ruling Fidesz party, Lajos Kosa, said that this “Soros plan” includes Europe accepting a million migrants per year and the demolition of Hungary’s anti-migrant border fences.

    Vice President Mike Pence lunched with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill to urge them to approve the legislation introduced last week by Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy. Pence said President Donald Trump backs the bill.

  23. Death Toll Rises to at Least 217 After 7.1 Earthquake Hits Central Mexico

    Crews continue to search through rubble following the devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit central Mexico Tuesday.

    Officials say so far at least 217 people have been killed with at least 44 buildings destroyed.

    Mexico’s Interior Ministry announced a state of emergency to deal with the aftermath of the quake.

    Government officials said at least 21 children and several adults died following the collapse of an elementary school within the country’s capital.

    500 military servicemen are conducting search and rescue operations for missing employees and students.

    “Unfortunately, many people have lost their lives, including boys and girls in schools, buildings and homes,” announced Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. “I want to express my condolences to those who have lost their family and loved ones, Mexico shares your pain.”

    The death toll is expected to rise with an economic impact possibly reaching and estimated $10 billion

    Japan deploys an anti-missile defense system near recent North Korean missile flyover routes.

    The missile interceptor now at a base on southern Hokkaido was brought from another military site on the island about 50 miles north.

    Japan’s defense minister said the move is a precaution as part of preparations for a possible emergency.

    The relocation comes a week after Pyongyang launched a missile that flew over southern Hokkaido and landed in the Pacific off the island’s east coast.

    That test fire also marked the second flyover in less than a month.

    MOSCOW (Reuters) – At least eight North Korean ships that left Russia with a cargo of fuel this year headed for their homeland despite declaring other destinations, a ploy that U.S. officials say is often used to undermine sanctions.

    Reuters has no evidence of wrongdoing by the vessels, whose movements were recorded in Reuters ship-tracking data. Changing a ship’s destination once underway is not forbidden and it is unclear whether any of the ships unloaded fuel in North Korea.

    But U.S. officials say that changing destination mid-voyage is a hallmark of North Korean state tactics to circumvent the international trade sanctions imposed over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program.

    BEIJING (Reuters) – China believes that the Venezuelan government and people can resolve their problems within a legal framework and maintain national stability, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Venezuelan counterpart at the United Nations.

    At least 125 people have been killed in four months of protests against President Nicolás Maduro’s government, which has resisted calls to bring forward the presidential election and instead set up a pro-Maduro legislative superbody called a Constituent Assembly that has overruled the country’s opposition-led Congress.

    U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he wanted democracy restored soon in Venezuela and warned that the United States might take additional measures to apply pressure on the oil-producing nation.

    China, a good friend of Venezuela’s, has brushed off widespread condemnation from the United States, Europe and others about the situation in the country.

    LONDON (Reuters) – Russia, the only major power that has not called on Iraq’s Kurds to cancel a referendum on independence next week, has swiftly become the top funder of Kurdish oil and gas deals, with as much as $4 billion pledged in less than a year, industry sources say.

    Washington, European countries, Turkey and Iran have all lined up to oppose a move by Iraq’s Kurds to hold a Sept. 25 independence referendum, which the Kurds consider the culmination of decades of struggle for a state of their own, but Iraq calls a violation of its constitution.

    This week, the White House issued a statement calling the planned vote “provocative and destabilizing”, noting that it will take place not only within the autonomous Kurdish region itself but on territory that is disputed.

    But Moscow has issued no such call to cancel the vote.

On 19 September, a video was posted showing a Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter firing air-to-ground rockets near an observation area where civilian vehicles were parked, as civilians watched the action at a Russian training range. Three people were reportedly injured.

    The event was said to be at the Luzhsky firing range south of St. Petersburg, and to have taken place during the ongoing major exercise Zapad (“West”) 2017. Later reporting suggested the rocket firing occurred on 16 September, prior to Vladimir Putin’s appearance at the Luzhsky range on 18 September to inspect the exercise action. The Russian military has said it was accidental.

    “A US-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters says it has driven Islamic State (IS) militants out of 80% of the northern Syrian city of Raqqa.

    The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its three-month-old assault was now in its “final stages”.

    A monitoring group said heavy air strikes had forced militants to pull out of five areas in the past 48 hours.

    Raqqa became the de facto capital of the “caliphate” whose creation was proclaimed by IS three years ago.

    The provincial city was transformed by the group, which implemented an extreme interpretation of Islamic law there and used beheadings, crucifixions and torture to terrorise residents who opposed its rule.

    At the same time, Raqqa became home to thousands of jihadists from around the world who heeded a call to migrate there by IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

    About 15,000 SDF fighters, supported by US-led coalition air strikes and special forces, encircled Raqqa before launching an offensive to capture the city in June.

    Two Minnesota mothers were arrested for taking their daughters to Michigan to have female genital mutilation (FGM) performed on them.

    The girls, both seven years old, were driven by their mothers to a clinic in Livonia, Michigan. The doctor who performed the procedure, Jumana Nagarwala, 44, was charged in April 2017 in the on-going case. Also charged were Dr. Fakhruddin Attar, the owner of the clinic where the FGM took place and his wife, Dr. Farida Attar, for arranging the procedures and holding the girls’ hands while it was being performed.

  44. Author: Soon There’ll Be No-Go Zones in the US

    No-go zones are coming to America at “alarming speed,” according to the author of a new book on neighborhoods that are becoming Muslim-only areas where others fear to tread.

    “The politically correct try to deny their existence, the shocking reality of there ‘No Go Zones’–where Sharia law can prevail and local police stay away–can be attested to by its many victims,” reads part of the marketing blurb for No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You.

    If you think this book is just about places in Europe such as Sweden with its reported 55 no-go zones, you are mistaken. The cover of this work shows the Statue of Liberty wearing a niqab full face veil.

    U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized the United Nations in his maiden speech to the international body. Trump told the UN to “Focus more on people, less on bureaucracy.”

    “It has not reached its potential because of the bureaucracy and mismanagement,” Trump said, calling on the body not to “be beholden to ways of the past which are not working.”

  46. The Ayatollah’s Ventriloquist Dummies

    Another four years of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ensures the Iranian presidential chair will make no difference on the general expansionist policy of Iran and its acts of interference in other countries’ affairs. Ditto on a domestic level, where the Iranian people continue to suffer from poverty, unemployment and oppression.

    It became clear during Rouhani’s first term that the presidential seat is only perfunctory — meaning, the Iranian president is only a dummy controlled by a higher position called the Supreme Leader (or Guardian Jurist). In other words, the elected presidents who represent the Iranian people’s will are all ruled by one hand of power (ie, a dictatorship).

    The Iranian president does not have the real power that people think he has to improve the situation in the country or to make crucial decisions on the thorny issues. We should also not forget that the Revolutionary Guards and Speaker of the Parliament Ali Larijani’s legislature, have both served to suppress the press and intellectuals.

    The views of the Iranian people fluctuate. Some think Rouhani has power, at least in the economic sphere. Here, they see he has failed to improve the country’s economic situation and reduce unemployment and poverty rates. (The economy has worsened under Rouhani so that many Iranian people are actually going hungry.)

  47. NY sheriff tells deputies to ignore Cuomo’s immigration order

    A New York county sheriff is telling his deputies to ignore an order from Gov. Andrew Cuomo that instructs state police and other New York officials not to ask individuals about their immigration status, accusing the Democratic governor of trying to score “cheap political points.”

    Cuomo on Friday signed the executive order that also prohibits state officials from disclosing a person’s immigration status to federal authorities, except in certain situations such as police investigations.

    When Esme Allman, a second-year law student at Edinburgh University, issued a maliciously-worded complaint to the university authorities concerning Robbie Travers on September 6, she must have been confident that her status as a black female politically correct activist would guarantee a listening ear. Her complaint (see below) was constructed in such a way that it seemed Mr Travers would find no way out of the predicament in which she had placed him. Had the university acted on her charges, there is little doubt that Travers’s university career and future prospects would be damaged beyond repair. That certainly seems to have been her intent. The story was widely reported in the British press and here on Gatestone, for whom Travers had written. Her specific claim — that Travers’s calling Islamic State fighters “barbarians” and mocking their aspiration to marry 72 virgins in heaven should they die as martyrs in battle was racist and Islamophobic — did not go down with members of the British public, who were only too aware of the multiple barbarities committed by IS terrorists abroad and in Europe, including in the UK.

    Since 2007, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) have announced at least four “reconciliation” agreements to end their rivalry, which began a year earlier when Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections. This week, under the auspices of the Egyptian authorities, the two rival Palestinian parties announced yet another deal to patch up their differences and achieve “national unity.”

    The latest agreement between Hamas and the PA requires the Islamist movement to dismantle its shadow government in the Gaza Strip — known as the Administrative Committee. It was this shadow government that prompted PA President Mahmoud Abbas to impose a number of punitive measures against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including cutting off salaries to civil servants, forcing thousands of employees into early retirement, halting payments for electricity supplied by Israel and reducing medicine supplies to hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

    Do you remember when former president Barack Obama railed against Wall Street not too long ago, accusing them of making too much money?

    How about in 2009, when he said, “I did not run for office to be helpin’ out a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street.”

    Strange, but now Obama is using Wall Street to add to the millions he has accumulated, including the book deal he and his wife Michelle signed with Penguin Random House after an auction that went above $60 million, according to the Financial Times.

    As Bloomberg notes of recent events, “Barack Obama spoke in New York to clients of Northern Trust Corp. for about $400,000, a person familiar with his appearance said. Last week, he reminisced about the White House for Carlyle Group LP, one of the world’s biggest private equity firms, according to two people who were there. Next week, he’ll give a keynote speech at investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald LP’s health-care conference.” That speech for Cantor Fitzgerald will net Obama roughly $400,000
