    • BARCELONA´S CHIEF RABBI URGES JEWS TO MOVE TO ISRAEL BECAUSE `EUROPE IS LOST`

      In an interview with the Jewish news agency JTA, Mr Bar-Hen said: “Jews are not here permanently.

      “I tell my congregants: Don’t think we’re here for good. And I encourage them to buy property in Israel. This place is lost. Don’t repeat the mistake of Algerian Jews, of Venezuelan Jews. Better [get out] early than late.”

      He went on to say the attacks had exposed the presence of “radical fringes” within the Muslim community, a problem he said applied to Europe as a whole.

      “Europe is lost,” he added.

        • Bar-Hen also charged that authorities and some politicians are reluctant to confront Islamist terrorism. He cited the government’s decision in April to allow Leila Khaled, a Palestinian terrorist who was convicted in a plot to hijack an airplane in 1969, to enter the country for a book festival. This showed authorities “do not understand the nature of terrorism, if they treat it as an action by the disenfranchised,” Bar-Hen said.

          Ignoring calls to ban the visit by Khaled — book fair organizers hung posters of Khaled on main streets — Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau Ballano of the far-left Barcelona en Comú party led the passage in April of a city council resolution condemning Israel’s “violations of international law.”

          On Friday, Colau Ballano wrote on Facebook: “Barcelona is a city of peace. Terror will not make us stop being who we are: a brave city open to the world.” She urged readers to show up at a solidarity rally that day…

        • Ironic, isn’t it? A massive influx of European Jews immigrating fleeing to Israel will most likely cause increased expansion of the “settlements” that so fiercely antagonize the supposed “Palestinians”.

          Talk about a vicious “scratch-itch” cycle! Then again, it is vital that Israel begins a reverse policy of “land-for-peace”. As in:

          For every rocket landing in Israel that has been fired during a jihadist attack, an acre of land is annexed that will NEVER be given back. For every Israeli wounded in a jihadist attack, five acres of land are annexed that will NEVER be given back. For every Israeli that dies as a result of a jihadist attack ten acres of land are annexed that will NEVER be given back.

          When the “Palestinians” finally find their entire population crowded onto a soccer pitch, perhaps then they might reconsider the wisdom of declaring genocide against the Jews.

          The only other alternative being (after 48 hour advance notice) simply walking artillery and then Caterpillar D9 bulldozers through the Gaza Strip as its occupants are flushed into the Sinai for Egypt to deal with.

          Same goes for the West Bank with respect to Jordan.

          As the old saying goes, “The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” So be it. Just make sure that there are very few future “opportunities” for them to miss.

    “British authorities are promising to prosecute “hate crimes” committed online as vigorously as those that take place face-to-face, claiming that online hate crime is a major problem.

    New Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) guidelines issued Monday outlined a tough stance on “hate attacks” on Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms on the basis of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or “transgender identity”.

    In addition, the guidance for the first time recognizes “hate crimes” against bisexuals as distinct from homophobic or “transphobic” attacks.

    “These documents take account of the current breadth and context of offending to provide prosecutors with the best possible chance of achieving justice for victims,” Alison Saunders, the director of public prosecutions, said in a statement.

    “They also let victims and witnesses know what they should expect from us.”

    She also said she hopes the new plans will see more prosecutions, with longer sentences for those convicted if a jury or judge can be convinced the crime was motivated by hate.

    After the releasing the new guideline, the CPS’s official Twitter feed ran an online poll asking users to tell them how to respond to “hate crimes”.

    They also retweeted the discredited anti-Islamophobia group TellMAMA, who were accused of inflating “hate crime” data after the 2013 Woolwick Islamist attack, to further their agenda.

    Reporting the story, BBC News featured an interview with a transgendered individual who claimed that being “miss-gendered” online was a damaging crime.

    Saunders also told The Guardian the crackdown is needed because online abuse can lead to the sort of extremist hate seen in Charlottesville in the United States last weekend…”

        Next up, “crimethink”. From: The Principles of Newspeak.

        The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible. It was intended that when Newspeak had been adopted once and for all and Oldspeak forgotten, a heretical thought — that is, a thought diverging from the principles of Ingsoc — should be literally unthinkable, at least so far as thought is dependent on words. Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express, while excluding all other meanings and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods. This was done partly by the invention of new words, but chiefly by eliminating undesirable words and by stripping such words as remained of unorthodox meanings, and so far as possible of all secondary meanings whatever. To give a single example. The word free still existed in Newspeak, but it could only be used in such statements as ‘This dog is free from lice’ or ‘This field is free from weeds’. It could not be used in its old sense of ‘politically free’ or ‘intellectually free’ since political and intellectual freedom no longer existed even as concepts, and were therefore of necessity nameless. Quite apart from the suppression of definitely heretical words, reduction of vocabulary was regarded as an end in itself, and no word that could be dispensed with was allowed to survive. Newspeak was designed not to extend but to diminish the range of thought, and this purpose was indirectly assisted by cutting the choice of words down to a minimum.

        When Oldspeak had been once and for all superseded, the last link with the past would have been severed. History had already been rewritten, but fragments of the literature of the past survived here and there, imperfectly censored, and so long as one retained one’s knowledge of Oldspeak it was possible to read them. In the future such fragments, even if they chanced to survive, would be unintelligible and untranslatable. It was impossible to translate any passage of Oldspeak into Newspeak unless it either referred to some technical process or some very simple everyday action, or was already orthodox (goodthinkful would be the Newspeak expression) in tendency. In practice this meant that no book written before approximately 1960 could be translated as a whole. Pre-revolutionary literature could only be subjected to ideological translation — that is, alteration in sense as well as language. Take for example the well-known passage from the Declaration of Independence:

        We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of those ends, it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government…It would have been quite impossible to render this into Newspeak while keeping to the sense of the original. The nearest one could come to doing so would be to swallow the whole passage up in the single word crimethink. A full translation could only be an ideological translation, whereby Jefferson’s words would be changed into a panegyric on absolute government.

  5. A solicitor [UK attorney] who wrote on Facebook that it was a shame a plane carrying Jewish refugees had not blown up has been handed a 12-month suspension and £25,000 fine after the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found his “despicable” comments to be anti-Semitic.
    However, the suspension of Majid Mahmood has itself been suspended for a year.
    He was also found to have acted with a lack of integrity in sending another Facebook message that was anti-Zionist and then dared someone who complained to report him to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
    The tribunal said that the fact he was posting on social media in a private capacity – though his profile said he was a solicitor – “did not protect him from being held to the higher standards that apply to all those who benefit from the privilege of membership of an esteemed profession”.
    It added: “Being a solicitor was not a feature of one’s being that one could switch on and off as one chose.”
    The SDT said: “Causing offence to the public to the detriment of the collective reputation of the profession was unacceptable.
    “The intemperate language used, the hatred manifested, including against Zionists as well as Jewish people, and wishing them dead by graphic means were terrible ideas for a solicitor to be promoting.”
    Mr Mahmood was born in September 1976 and was admitted in 2005. At the time he was a criminal defence partner at Luton firm City Law Chambers, and is now a director at fellow Luton firm Liberty Law Solicitors.
    In October 2015, he posted on Facebook: “Somebody needs to shoot all the Israeli Zionists dead then send their bodies to America as a present for Obama and his Zionist pals.”
    This was in response to a video Mr Mahmood said showed the killing of women and children by Israeli defence forces, an explanation which the SDT gave him “the benefit of the doubt” by accepting.
    When a member of the public asked him what the SRA would think of his post, he replied (with errors left in): “Yeah feel free to report me. Don’t see you saying much about the atrocities committed by the Zionist’s. It’s freedom of speech. But Funny how after having views the killing of innocent children and the systematic assassination of people by a nation that is fuelled by greed all you can do is threaten me that you would report me to the SRA. Don’t read my comments if you don’t like them.”
    That member of the public did report him.
    Then, in February 2016, Mr Mahmood posted on a page entitled ‘Israel is a War Criminal’ (again with the errors left in): “The ain’t gods chosen people they’re Satans love child’s and it’s a sham e the plane carrying them didn’t blow up mid air.”
    The SDT found that this message was in response to an article about Jewish refugees being airlifted from a troubled country to Israel.
    Another post, in response to a user’s comment, stated (errors left in): “Condoning… Read the words, but as a typical Zionist Israeli tear you can try and twist the words. Mad don’t threaten me go and fuck yourself.”
    This exchange was reported to the SRA by the Campaign Against Antisemitism on behalf of a member of the public. Mr Mahmood deleted his Facebook account shortly after, and before he had been contacted by the SRA.
    He admitted that the comments were “offensive and wholly inappropriate” but denied they were anti-Semitic. He accepted that the 2015 comments were anti-Zionist but said that was not anti-Semitic.
    There was a lengthy debate before the tribunal about the definition of anti-Semitism and it ended up judging the comments against three different definitions: the one accepted by the UK government, the Oxford English Dictionary’s, and a narrower one from a report by Professor Gus John commissioned by Mr Mahmood which said that, to be anti-Semitic, the hostility towards Jews had to be because they are Jews and not because they happen to be Jews.
    The SDT ruled that any individual making the 2015 posts “with their expression of violence towards others crossed the line and acted without integrity”. For a solicitor to do so was “a clear lack of integrity”.
    It also criticised his defiant response to the member of the public who challenged the post and the way he was “entirely dismissive of the regulatory machinery and the attention that the post might attract”.
    However, the SDT said the 2015 posts had not referred to Jews, only “Israeli Zionists” – it found that the words “nation fuelled by greed” also referred to Zionists.
    The tribunal said the comments did not meet any of the three definitions. The definition accepted by the government, drafted by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, says that “criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti-Semitic”, and the tribunal said the post fell within this.
    The 2016 posts also showed a lack of integrity: “The tribunal found that the respondent’s post in which he suggested that it was a shame that a plane carrying people did not blow up in mid-air whatever the context of that comment to be wholly indefensible.
    “The tribunal could not comprehend how a solicitor posting in even a private capacity could espouse that view openly to a wider public. His comments went far beyond exercising his right to freedom of speech…
    “For a solicitor to pray in aid freedom of speech and then abuse that qualified right which was not afforded to people in other parts of the world was unconscionable.”
    This comment was anti-Semitic when judged against all three definitions, the SDT concluded.
    “The reference to Jewish people, as the tribunal found, as Satan’s love child, was pejorative, derogatory and religiously offensive.” The comment about the plane was “despicable”.
    Deciding sanction, the SDT said the conduct was within Mr Mahmood’s total control and responsibility, including mentioning the fact that he was a solicitor.
    It dismissed his suggestion that it was the fault of Facebook for drawing people into controversial debate.
    “When giving his evidence, the tribunal was left with the impression of a respondent who lacked any appreciation of the gravity of what he had done wrong coupled with the feeling that he was the victim of events and that he was being picked on by both those who did not share his views and his professional regulator.
    “His attempts to blame Facebook for ‘drawing him in’ showed a lack of accountability and responsibility for his actions.”
    Mr Mahmood said he was not anti-Semitic and had Jewish friends, naming two barristers he had known for many years both professionally and personally. However, the SDT noted that neither provided testimonials for him.
    It was prepared to accept his counsel’s submission that he was not anti-Semitic in his everyday life, but continued: “The tribunal recognised that people who are not by character anti-Semitic were nevertheless still capable of committing anti-Semitic acts.”
    The SDT was particularly dismissive of counsel’s suggestion that the anti-Semitism proved was at the “lowest end”, saying: “It was not open to a solicitor to behave in a more or less anti-Semitic way; he either behaved in an anti-Semitic way or he did not.”
    Allowing his counsel to make such a suggestion in itself demonstrated Mr Mahmood’s lack of insight, it observed.
    A significant sanction was required otherwise the tribunal risked undermining the “hard work done by the SRA and the Law Society and solicitors generally on improving attitudes towards equality and diversity”.
    A suspension was an appropriate penalty and would also “bring home” to Mr Mahmood the gravity of his misconduct.
    Further, it would “put in place protection for the reputation of the profession to minimise the risk of repetition by means of a period of reflection for the respondent in the knowledge that similar misconduct during the period of suspended suspension will result in a reference to the tribunal”.
    The tribunal recorded that the SRA had reported Mr Mahmood to the police but that no action had resulted.

    ‘F*** YOUR MOTHER’: Foul-Mouthed Journalist Grabs Huge Knife, Issues Sick Threat For Trump

    A concerning video is making the rounds on social media after being tweeted out by Marco Gutierrez, the co-founder of Latinos for Trump. The footage features a foul-mouthed journalist, grabbing a massive knife and issuing a shocking threat for President Donald Trump.

    In the disturbing video, an elderly Mexican woman can be seen stabbing a piñata repeatedly, all the while yelling obscenities like, “Chinga tu madre,” which translates to “F*** your mother,” in English. The piñata sustaining the brunt of her rage is crafted in the likeness of President Trump.
    Mexican journalist Guadalupe Loaeza recently turned 71-years-old, and she couldn’t get through her birthday party without things getting political. As her friends gathered around laughing hysterically at her antics, the leftist writer grabbed a huge kitchen knife, which she used to stab a Trump piñata over and over again.

    Once again, the 45th President of the United States is at the end of violent expressions of disapproval. In a short video tweeted by Marco Gutierrez, co-founder of Latinos for Trump, a woman can be see rambling in Spanish while stabbing a Trump piñata with a large sharp knife. Other women are present for the spectacular show, evidenced by the squeals of laughter in the background. Who is the woman? None other than Guadalupe Loaeza.

    Loaeza is a Mexican writer and left-leaning social critic who constantly ironizes the middle class. She is a columnist for Reforma, a Mexican newspaper. Prominent left-wing figures are quick to show their disapproval for anything resembling opposition, and in most cases, Trump is the perfect scapegoat. [Source: Squawker]
    Although Loaeza’s girlfriends seemed to find her appalling behavior amusing, the same could not be said for others. Many of her fellow Mexican citizens commented online saying that they were embarrassed by her antics and blamed her for giving them a bad reputation.

    But not all netizens were impressed by the novelist’s actions, calling her out for attention seeking.

    One, going by the name ‘JesusPleasen’ said: “Classic woman of Las Lomas wanting to call attention… Mexico needs women with balls such as Adelitas, not this bulls**t.”

    Another, ‘LaloBravo’, added: “For reactions like this, we are considered as third world people, and this one because there is nothing else lower.” [Source: Mirror]
    The double-standard when it comes to what is perceived as racism these days is glaring. If a white journalist had stabbed the likeness of former President Barack Obama, this would be all over the mainstream media, the journalist would be labeled a racist and a bigot, and we would never hear the end of it. However, because Trump is a white Republican, it’s A-okay.

    Also of concern is the fact that Loaeza has a career where she should remain somewhat bipartisan. How could you possibly expect someone like this to report the unadulterated facts without allowing bias to influence her work? Had, for example, Greta Van Susteren stabbed an Obama piñata when he was president, she surely would have lost her job and all of her credibility, and rightfully so. But, sadly, the left does not have to play by the same set of rules as conservatives.

        I would like to sit in that lecture and see her face ,when I suggest that slavery has made her and the descendants of slavery , better off than their African relations. Financially on the whole I bet there is no comparison.

      Today there is an antiracist/white supremacy/antinazi protest at the US embassy in Ottawa. I ask myself why? Because of the recent tragedy in Virginia, says the radio announcer. Seriously? We in the West have never been so tolerant. The Canadian people have got to be the most passive, tolerant people on earth, except for Sweden maybe. (Take “tolerance” with a truckload of salt,) So why all of this protesting against a boogieman who doesn’t really exist beyond a few fringe yahoos sprinkled around as they always have been. Why such vilification of Rebel Media? What did they do so wrong other than appeal to the common sense of so many people? What’s with this trend of accusing some Jewish people of being antisemitic?

      My guess is that having an antinazi protest–coincidentally on the same day as that city kicks off Gay Pride Week–is another clever invention of the postmodernist playbook. Since there are probably as many Nazis in Ottawa as there are underqualified Prime Ministers, protesting the non-existent presents the illusion that the bad guys truly exist where they truly do not. Knowing that most people are not informed, this loud-mouthed tactic captures pliable, neutral hearts and minds readily up for grabs. It mobilizes government money and infrastructures to The Cause when done often and loudly, girding left wing sentiment with establishment power. Add in communication tech company complicity and you’ve got yourself a powerful position. The ability to capture greater and greater market share accelerates.

      Indeed, deploying useful idiots to protest against ghosts has real-world payoffs. Until such tactics are commonly identified, market share for left-wing fanatics will grow steadily.

        This is especially so when one considers how our own soldiers that were taken captive have been mistreated or summarily executed in the most horrific of ways.

        • Im with ya there 100% NR but abut 8 months ago or so, I saw some videos of high ranking government and intel people actually admitting to doing certain experiments with aircraft and aerosolized agents for one thing or another. I can’t remember what the exact thing was but it was very convincing at the time.

          I decided to shake it off and choose my battles. I think islam, global communist plots and global warming was enough for one fellow. But there is a tiny speck of myself that now thinks there may have been something to that stuff.

          A number of years ago, I had lunch with a fellow who designed avionics for the US military. I asked him about hypersonic jets and the rumours of contrails that were called, “donuts on a rope”. His answer was,

          “I obviously cannot speak to this directly but there were those rumours for a while and then they stopped”.

          That was a rather thorough answer I thought.

            One of the only sane ways to address this issue is to recognize and admit that combusted jet fuel somehow contributes to “greenhouse” gasses. WHICH IT DOES (to whatever large or small extent). The actual degree to which it does is another matter entirely.

        The USS John S. McCain and the tanker Alnic MC collided while the guided-missile vessel was nearing Singapore on Monday. The collision tore a hole in the warship’s port side at the waterline, flooding compartments that included a crew sleeping area. Ten sailors are missing.

        This where everything goes off the rails and gets all pear-shaped. Commander of the US 7th Fleet, Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin has been relieved of his duty and (perhaps) appropriately so. All the same, a few answers are in order.

        Some questions:

        • How is it that all of these naval collisions have occurred in the direct vicinity of Communist China? Why not elsewhere?

        • Equally important, how did all of the naval bridge personnel on watch fail to detect, locate, and identify a nearby threatening or interfering vessel some two football fields in length?

        • Is Commander Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin of sufficient skill and ability to where his dismissal represents a distinct advantage for America’s East Asian foes?

        • Are people aware of how just one of these incidents happening at or near the Straits of Malacca represents a strategic event of tremendous proportions?

        For instance, the Straits of Malacca are one of the world’s most continuously traversed, vulnerable, and crucial waterways. To such an extent that South Korea has explored creating a land-based “dry canal”. (See: Thailand’s Kra Canal.)

        Sinking a single supertanker (i.e., “Malaccamax” class vessel) somewhere in mid-channel could crash numerous East Asian economies.

        There also exists undocumented, apocryphal accounts that large vessels transiting this critical channel have been commandeered by unidentified groups who merely spent several hours acquainting themselves with how to pilot (think 9-11 flight simulators) a large maritime vessel and then, non-violently, abandoned ship after a few hours of “training” time.

        How does all of this connect with Communist China establishing choke points in the South China Sea, along with building naval facilities at numerous other locations that could seriously interfere with global shipping lanes?

        Anyone who elects to remain unfamiliar with these questions should go ahead and troop down to the nearest government office to apply for their official “Sheeple” ID card.

    UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Two North Korean shipments to a Syrian government agency responsible for the country’s chemical weapons program were intercepted in the past six months, according to a confidential United Nations report on North Korea sanctions violations.

    The report by a panel of independent U.N. experts, which was submitted to the U.N. Security Council earlier this month and seen by Reuters on Monday, gave no details on when or where the interdictions occurred or what the shipments contained.

    “The panel is investigating reported prohibited chemical, ballistic missile and conventional arms cooperation between Syria and the DPRK (North Korea),” the experts wrote in the 37-page report.

    GENEVA, Aug 22 (Reuters) – North Korea’s self-defensive nuclear deterrence arsenal will never be on the negotiating table, a Pyongyang envoy said on Tuesday.

    SEOUL, Aug. 22 (Yonhap) — Three top U.S. military commanders plan to issue a strong warning message to North Korea in a rare joint press availability here later Tuesday, officials said.

    Pacific Command chief Adm. Harry Harris, Strategic Command head Gen. John Hyten and Missile Defense Agency Director Lt. Gen. Samuel Greaves are scheduled to hold a press conference at a local U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) base.

    It’s quite unusual for the U.S. commanding generals serving abroad to gather in South Korea and release public statements together.

    It apparently reflects Washington’s alertness against North Korea’s rapid development of nuclear bombs and missiles.

    In July, the North successfully test-launched two intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

    The U.S. intelligence community also believes the secretive communist nation has made significant progress in miniaturizing nuclear warheads.

    The U.S. commanders are expected to stressed that a military option will be on the table as the last means to use in case of an eventual failure in efforts to resolve the North Korea issue via diplomacy, a defense source said.

    In the prelude to outlining his new strategy, Trump acknowledged that his earlier instinct was to pull out of Afghanistan. The media have been busy for the last couple of days publishing tallies of Trump’s previous comments on the campaign there, and the number of times he criticized our Afghanistan operations and/or said we should get out.

    That’s all fair enough. He said what he said, and his critics are entitled to their sniping.

          Iran’s influence in Syria is growing stronger by the day, according to intelligence analyst Ronen Salomon. The Iranian presence in Syria begins at Damascus airport and includes the Iranian embassy and bases on Mount Qasioun, overlooking Damascus, and near the Presidential Palace. The Quds Force makes use of the Iranian Red Crescent to insert Revolutionary Guard and intelligence ministry operatives into Syria and to transport military aid.

          Iran has transported a large number of containers carrying advanced implements of war by sea under the guise of commercial shipments, carried out through companies connected to Iran’s international shipping company, IRISL. Simultaneously, Iran runs an airlift to Syria from Tehran’s airports and Iranian airbases adjacent to the Iraqi border.

          These flights fly civilian routes through Iran Air and Mahan Air, but also use army transportation aircraft under a company called Qasem Fares Air. Flights leave at night to prevent satellite monitoring.

          Iranian units in Syria now number close to 1,500 men, with some 18,000 fighters of different militias present in the country.

    Dogan Akhanli was arrested Saturday in Spain. Chancellor Angela Merkel has accused Turkey of abusing the international system used to hunt down fugitives.

    “We should at least embark on a more intense dialogue inside the EU on how we deal with search requests from Turkey,” Justice Minister Heiko Maas was quoted Tuesday as telling the Funke newspaper group. He added that Europe “cannot allow every critic of the Turkish regime to be exposed to arbitrary persecution.”

    Akhanli is accused of involvement in an armed robbery in 1989 with alleged links to an outlawed Kurdish group. Turkey issued an international request for his arrest in 2013. Akhanli considers the accusations politically motivated.

    Akhanli has in the past written about the mass killing of Armenians in Turkey in 1915. The killings are a sensitive subject in Turkey, which rejects the widespread view that they constituted genocide.

    The Akhanli case is yet another irritant in German-Turkish relations, which have been growing steadily more tense since mid-2016.

    Turkish officials haven’t immediately addressed the accusation by Germany that Turkey is abusing the international system to track down fugitives. But President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last week to “never vote for parties that are enemies of Turkey” in relation to German mainstream parties, and he urged Turkish-Germans to not vote for them in next month’s election.

    The bench, comprising five senior judges of different faiths, deliberated for three months before issuing its order in response to petitions from seven Muslim women who had been divorced through the practice known as triple talaq.

    Indian law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on NDTV that since the court deemed the practice unconstitutional there is no need for any further legislative action by the government.

    The decision was widely lauded by women’s rights activists as a step toward granting Muslim women greater equality and justice.

    “It’s a very happy day for us. It’s a historic day,” said Zakia Soman, the co-founder of the Indian Muslim Women’s Movement, which was part of the legal battle to end triple talaq.

    “We, the Muslim women, are entitled to justice from the courts as well as the legislature,” she said.

    More than 20 Muslim countries, including neighboring Pakistan and Bangladesh, have banned the practice. But in India, triple talaq has continued with the protection of laws that allow Muslim, Christian and Hindu communities to follow religious law in matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. While most Hindu personal laws have been overhauled and codified over the years, Muslim laws have been left to religious authorities and left largely untouched.

    Most of the 170 million Muslims in India are Sunnis governed by Muslim Personal Law for family matters and disputes. Those laws include allowing men to divorce their wives by simply uttering the Arabic word “talaq,” or divorce, three times — and not necessarily consecutively, but at any time, and by any medium, including telephone, text message or social media post.

    India’s Muslim Law Board had told the court that while they considered the practice wrong, they opposed any court intervention and asked that the matter be left to the community to tackle. But several progressive Muslim activists decried the law board’s position.

    But the appearance of convenient synchronization could not be better typified than by these two examples from the last 24 hours.

    The most egregious example is that of CNN, which literally altered a headline to slavishly reflect the point of view of Antifa.

    Be clear here. CNN didn’t alter its headline to more accurately reflect something Antifa said. The tenets of good journalism require news outlets to quote their subjects correctly – even if the subjects are Antifa thugs; even if they are Nazis.

    But that’s not what CNN was doing by changing the headline. CNN was changing the message of its own coverage about what happened, by knuckling under to Antifa’s biased – and in fact inaccurate – perspective.

    An Idaho state representative says it’s “plausible” that the deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this month was orchestrated to make President Trump look like a racist.

    State Rep. Bryan Zollinger, a Republican, on Thursday shared an article on Facebook by American Thinker, titled, “Charlottesville and Its Aftermath: What if It Was a Setup?”

    The article suggests, without evidence, that former President Barack Obama, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Charlottesville Mayor Michael Signer, and billionaire investor George Soros could somehow be connected in planning and orchestrating the clashes in Charlottesville, which turned deadly on Aug. 12 after a reported Nazi sympathizer purposely rammed his car into a group of counter-protesters, killing one and injuring 19 others.

    “The ridiculous campaign by virtually every media outlet, every Democrat and far too many squishy Republicans to label Trump some kind of racist and Nazi sympathizer is beginning to have the stink of an orchestrated smear,” Patricia McCarthy wrote. “The conflagration in Charlottesville is beginning to feel like a set-up, perhaps weeks or months in the planning.”

    Mr. Zollinger, in a follow-up comment on his post, said the conspiracy theory could be true.
    “I’m not saying it is true, but I am suggesting that it is completely plausible,” he said, adding that “many of the protesters were Soros-funded.”

  42. RUSSIA – Surgut Attacker Reportedly Pledges Allegiance to IS in Suicide Video

    An Islamic State* affiliated media outlet has published a video reportedly featuring the perpetrator of a knife rampage in western Siberia last weekend in which seven people were injured.

    The video was published by Furat Media, the Russian-language branch of Islamic State’s media apparatus, the SITE Intel Group said late on Monday.

    SITE identifies the masked man who features in the video as the individual responsible for the knife attack on bystanders in the city of Surgut on the morning of Aug. 19.

    The attacker, who Russia’s investigative committee said was a resident of the city, was shot and killed by law enforcement on the scene.

    The video circulating social media shows a balaclava-clad man sitting next to an axe and an IS flag. He speaks in heavily accented Russian and Arabic to describe the benefits of using “primitive weapons.”

    IS earlier claimed the attack through the AMAQ news agency, but Russia’s investigative committee in an online statement cited the man’s possible psychiatric problems as a motive.
