“Their universe is of course fantasy and anachronistic, but it corresponds to the reality which existed 14 centuries ago. To ignore or refuse to recognize this would be self-deception.”
He cites a Quranic line, “Kill the infidels wherever you find them. Capture them, besiege them, watch them,” and a hadith, “Jihad is the highest summit of Islam,” which he says are consistently cited by Daesh.
“They did not invent” these lines, he stresses, “nor did they diverge from their literal sense.”
In the post, Tourabi admits that “all other religious texts” also contain similar “violent and warlike passages.” These lines, he explains, “were the expression of their time and the context of their revelation.”

‘Stay Away From The Common’ During Boston Free Speech Rally, Walsh Urges
BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is urging people to stay away from a planned Free Speech Rally scheduled for Saturday on Boston Common.

1 person killed in stabbing in Germany
One person was killed and one person was injured in a stabbing incident in the German city of Wuppertal-Elberfeld today, according to police.
Wuppertal police are still searching for one or more suspects related to the stabbings.
A police spokeswoman told ABC News that the stabbing had “absolutely nothing to do with a terror attack.”

Nervous Japanese hold drill in case North Korea fires missiles over them

CARACAS/LIMA (Reuters) – A group of 12 regional nations plus the United States rejected Venezuela’s new government-allied legislative superbody, saying they would continue to regard the opposition-controlled congress as the country’s only legitimate law maker.
The move came after an announcement on Friday that the newly-created constituent assembly, elected in late July to re-write the crisis-hit country’s constitution, would supersede congress and pass laws on its own.
The Lima Group, including Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia and seven other regional governments, late on Friday joined the United States in criticizing the assembly for “usurping” the powers of Venezuela’s tradition congress.

Lebanese army, Hezbollah announce offensives against Islamic State on Syrian border
BEIRUT (Reuters) – The Lebanese army launched an offensive on Saturday against an Islamic State enclave on the northeastern border with Syria, as the Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah announced an assault on the militants from the Syrian side of the frontier.
The Lebanese army operation got underway at 5 a.m. (0200 GMT), targeting Islamic State positions near the town of Ras Baalbek with rockets, artillery and helicopters, a Lebanese security source said. The area is the last part of the Lebanese-Syrian frontier under insurgent control.
A security source said the offensive was making advances with several hills taken in the push against the militants entrenched on fortified high ground, in outposts and in caves.
The operation by Hezbollah and the Syrian army targeted the area across the border in the western Qalamoun region of Syria.

Shades of a dispute that raged eons ago back when the Left thought of itself as “civil.” The dispute was over a symbol appearing on a map circulated by Sarah Palin’s political action committee that targeted electoral districts. Democrats were sure the symbol was a rifle cross hairs, the map a call to arms against Congress members who held those seats.
As LU pointed out then, the notion was patently silly. The symbol used, we argued, was chosen for convenience and could just as easily be identified as the registration marks that printers add to color plates so that the plates can be aligned when they go to press.

Two former Wasserman Schultz IT aides indicted for conspiracy against U.S.; MSM mum

Two stories in one.
The primary story is that a federal grand jury Thursday indicted two former information technology (IT) aides of Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz — Pakistani-born Imran Awan and his wife Hina Alvi — on four counts of conspiracy in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
The secondary story, which we’ll return to later, is that the story of the indictment was ignored entirely by the Big Three Networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) and the cable news outlets CNN and MSNBC.
The FBI arrested Awan at Dulles International Airport July 24 as he was preparing to board a flight to Pakistan. When his wife Alvi left the U.S. for Pakistan in March, federal authorities found more than $12,000 in cash hidden in a suitcase. She had withdrawn the couple’s three children from local schools and does not intend to return to the U.S., according to the FBI.

Locals paid their respects to victims of a knife attack in Turku, on Saturday, two people were killed and a further eight injured in the southern Finnish city on Friday.
A witness of the attack relayed her initial response: “When I noticed the other victims I just had one thought: how and where can I escape to. Naturally this was before they captured him.” A local resident asserted that Finland was still a safe place. “It’s just a single event. There’s no need to give any space to fear, and the good will win in the end.”
On Friday a lone assailant attacked pedestrians with a knife in the southwestern Finnish city’s Puutori market square. The 18-year-old attacker was subsequently shot in the leg and later taken into custody. Police are treating the event as a terrorist attack.

German critic of Turkey’s Erdogan arrested in Spain
BERLIN (Reuters) – German-Turkish author Dogan Akhanli was arrested in Spain on Saturday after Turkey issued an Interpol warrant for the writer, a critic of the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Der Spiegel magazine reported.
The arrest of the German national was part of a “targeted hunt against critics of the Turkish government living abroad in Europe,” Akhanli’s lawyer Ilias Uyar told the magazine.
Ties between Ankara and Berlin have been increasingly strained in the aftermath of last year’s failed coup in Turkey as Turkish authorities have sacked or suspended 150,000 people and detained more than 50,000, including other German nationals.
Spanish police arrested Akhanli on Saturday in the city of Granada, Der Spiegel reported. Any country can issue an Interpol “red notice”, but extradition by Spain would only follow if Ankara could convince Spanish courts it had a real case against him.
Akhanli, detained in the 1980s and 1990s in Turkey for opposition activities, including running a leftist newspaper, fled Turkey in 1991 and has lived and worked in the German city of Cologne since 1995.
On Friday, Erdogan urged the three million or so people of Turkish background living in Germany to “teach a lesson” to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats in September’s general election by voting against her. That drew stinging rebukes from across the German political spectrum.

Cologne-based author Dogan Akhanli has been detained in Spain after Turkey issued an Interpol arrest warrant. The charges remain unclear. German officials have decried the move as politically motivated.
The 60-year-old Turkish-German writer was arrested around 8:30 a.m. local time at his hotel in the southern Spanish city of Granada on Saturday, the German news magazine Der Spiegel reported. Spanish police asked for Dogan Akhanli’s ID card to confirm his identity before detaining him.
Turkey issued an Interpol arrest warrant for Akhanli with a so-called “Red Notice.” His lawyer, Ilias Uyar, told Der Spiegel that he hasn’t been granted access to his client and that the charges are unclear.
Akhanli’s arrest was part of a “targeted hunt against critics of the Turkish government living abroad in Europe,” Uyar told the magazine.

This week, yet another Islamic terrorist attack targeted the Spanish city of Barcelona. As it was for many years under Muslim rule, it is, therefore, like Israel, land which many Islamists believe they are entitled to repossess.
At the same time, far from Spain, elementary schools have been closing, shuttered by the state after the number of children dropped to less than 10% of the population. The government is converting these structures into hospices, providing care for the elderly in a country where 40% of the people are 65 or older. That is not a science-fiction novel. That is Japan, the world’s oldest and most sterile nation, where there is a popular expression: “ghost civilization”.
According to Japan’s National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, by 2040 most of the country’s smaller cities will see a dramatic drop of one-third to one-half of their population. Due to a dramatic demographic decrease, many Japanese councils can no longer operate and have been closed. Restaurants have decreased from 850,000 in 1990 to 350,000 today, pointing to a “drying up of vitality”. Predictions also suggest that in 15 years, Japan will have 20 million empty houses. Is that also the future of Europe?
Among the experts in demography, there is a tendency to call Europe “the new Japan”. Japan, however, is dealing with this demographic catastrophe with its own resources, and banning Muslim immigration to the country.

All the three individuals have been monitored by Italian law enforcement over religious extremism suspicions. One 38-year old Moroccan citizen was jailed over a criminal offense and has been trying to spread extremist ideology among the inmates.

In contrast to the migrant terrorists Europe experienced Thursday, the migrants depicted in the video seem happy to have come to the continent. They study, play in sports teams, and work in car factories and as a photographer.
“The refugees that arrived here in Germany have to adapt. They come from a totally different culture, and they don’t know how things are here,” says Maryam Salehi of Cologne, Germany.

“The newly released Project28 Europe-wide poll shows that ordinary people are becoming increasingly distrustful of political elites, that many are more pessimistic about the future, and a changing attitude to mass migration is developing.
The survey, which is conducted by the Hungarian Századvág Foundation think tank, reveals in increasing gap between the political elites in Europe and the people they govern on many issues. Over half of those surveyed said they did not trust their government at all, while only nine per cent said they totally trusted their own government.
Distrust was highest among Greeks with 82 percent of the citizens having no faith in their elected officials followed by Croatia at 70 percent and Italy at 69 percent. Malta had the most citizens who were trusting of their government with 32 percent agreeing, followed by Hungary at 29 percent.
Trust in traditional mass media was also low in the survey with only eight percent saying they trusted the mainstream media very much while 45 percent said they didn’t trust it at all. Social media trust was even worse, as 56 percent said they did not trust it at all.
According to the statistics, the most trusting people in Europe of the mainstream media were German citizens.
A majority of Europeans are also pessimistic about the future, with 51 percent saying they expect their children to have a worse life than them. On immigration, 50 percent agreed that it was a serious problem for Europe and 53 percent claimed migrants were coming to Europe solely for economic reasons.

Breitbart London spoke to the head of the study David Szabo who said he was surprised to see how attitudes had remained the same as his 2016 study, but it had not been reflected in the Dutch and French elections earlier this year. He said that they had “re-elected their elites” despite, “not sharing their opinions.”
Looking forward to the German and Austrian elections Szabo said, “I do not expect big systematic changes in the upcoming two elections,” saying that he thought Austrian mainstream parties may take a more hardline stance, as Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte did before the Dutch elections, in order to take votes from the anti-mass migration Freedom Party of Austria.
“In Germany, on the other hand, I do not see room for considerable political changes,” he said predicting a win for Angela Merkel but said it could be possible for Merkel to win enough votes to form a coalition with the libertarian Free Democratic Party.
He claimed both Austrian and German conservatives were trying to distance themselves from left-wing ideas in order to end grand coalitions he said were causing distrust and disillusionment.
Summing up the study Szabo said Europe was “deeply divided” with eastern Europe much more optimistic and dynamic than the west. He predicted that the main issues of 2018 would be the role of the European Union and a strong sovereigntist movement against EU centralisation.

“In the wake of the Barcelona terror attack this week French terrorism expert Jean-Charles Brisard has claimed that Spain has become a breeding ground for Islamic radicalisation.
Mr Brisard, president of the Center d’ Analysis of Terrorism (CAT), said that despite there having been no major attacks in Spain since the 2004 Madrid train bombing, Spain has become a haven for radical Islam. “The intensity of the terrorist threat in Spain is real and the country has become a breeding ground for jihadism,” Brisard said in an interview with French paper L’Express.
“Since the attacks in 2004, 700 Islamists have been arrested, including 200 just since 2012,” he said and claimed that Spanish intelligence had tackled and taken down at least 40 Islamist cells.
Spain, Brisard said, was also a symbolic battleground for jihadists because of the former Muslim conquests in the 6th century.
The terror expert mentioned that in 2016 the Islamic State had called for attacks in Spain but that only around 200 Spaniards had gone to fight for the terror group in Syria and Iraq, far below the number in France which topped 700.
The main areas for radicalisation in Spain, according to Brisard, are Catalonia where the Barcelona attack occurred, and the North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla which have seen large flows of migrants in recent years. Earlier this month a thousand migrants stormed Ceuta carrying sticks and improvised spears.
“Among the 200 Islamists arrested over the last five years, one-third come from Catalonia, which has also been the scene of several anti-terrorist operations,” Brisard said.
The Spanish intelligence services have been tackling Islamist terror plots since the early 2000’s, Brisard said. “The country’s security services are very effective because they have known the existence of the terrorist threat for many years,” he noted.

Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia have laid flowers and candles at a makeshift memorial in Barcelona to pay their respects at the site of the van attack where 13 people died.
Hundreds gathered around the memorial in Las Ramblas pedestrian promenade and chanted “we are not afraid”.
The royal couple placed a wreath and lit two candles at the Juan Miro mosaic, where mourners laid flowers and tributes.
A human tower was also built at the site of the islamist attack.

A group of Muslim protesters gathered on Barcelona’s Las Ramblas on Saturday (August 19) to distance themselves from the ideology of Islamist extremism.
“We are also victims because we are hurt by what happened, but secondly, we are also hurt because people are generalising, they are looking negatively at us, are insulting us in the streets,” said Aziz Cetuani Farcho, a Moroccan woman living in Catalonia.

Deutsche Welle – Reports: Ripoll imam radicalized Barcelona attackers
Police are suspecting a missing imam of radicalizing the youths who drove cars into pedestrians in Catalonia, Spanish media reports.
Islamic clerics in Ripoll, the home town of the assailants, condemned the attacks.
Spanish authorities searched the imam’s home in Ripoll on Saturday, as part of their probe into terror strikes two days ago.
The Muslim cleric, A. Es Satty, abruptly left his post at the Ripoll mosque in June. According to the mosque head, Es Satty told his colleagues he would be going to his home country of Morocco for three months.
The investigators suspect the cleric of radicalizing the suspected attackers, all of whom came from Ripoll. He likely motivated them to commit the deadly attacks, a police official told the AP news agency.

Missing, presumed dead
Police also suspect that Es Satty might have been killed in the explosion in Alcanar, while the terror cell attempted to create a bomb in the apartment they reportedly used as a base. The Spanish broadcaster RTVE said that remains of one of the blast casualties could correspond to the missing cleric. This has not been officially confirmed.
His flat mate in Ripoll reportedly saw the cleric earlier this week.
“The last time I saw him was Tuesday and he told me that he was going to see his wife in Morocco,” he told the AFP news agency.
Ripoll Muslims speak out
The Annour Islamic Community of Ripoll pledged its solidarity with terror victims in a notice posted on the local mosque.
“Faced with this criminal act, the Annour Islamic Community of Ripoll reiterates its complete commitment to the fight against any form of terrorism, and we hope that those responsible for this attack are arrested and taken before a judge as soon as possible,” they said.
At the same time, a group of Muslims gathered at the scene of the Barcelona attack to show their opposition to terrorism.
Father of suspects ‘in shock’
The families of the terror suspects also gathered at downtown Ripoll on Saturday to express remorse and denounce terrorism. Similar statements also came from Morocco, from the father of the two Oukabir brothers who were suspected of organizing and conducting the attacks.
Said said he was “in shock” at the news, adding that his children had shown no sign of radicalization.
“They lived like the young people of their age, dressed like them,” the father said.
