A village of just 1,000 residents in Switzerland has been forced to raise taxes because an African refugee and her seven children cost the local authority £40,000 in benefits every month.
Hagenbuch, in the Swiss canton of Zurich, is understood to be spending close to a third of its total annual budget on the family after they arrived from Eritrea in East Africa three years ago.
The massive benefits bill covers day-to-day living expenses such as groceries and cleaning costs, as well as paying for four of the woman’s children to be housed in an orphanage and even bills for general entertainment – such as guided tours of local attractions and entry fees for the zoo.
The Eritrean woman and her family arrived in Hagenbuch three years ago in possession of a visa allowing her to stay in Switzerland for five years, with the option to extend her stay beyond that date.
It is not known if the family had lived elsewhere in Switzerland before moving to the quiet village.
Solely to cover the cost of the family’s massive benefits bill, the local authority is now planning to raise taxes in the village by a shocking five percent.
‘I don’t know where to turn. I think we have no other choice but to raise taxes,’ Mayor Therese Schlaepfer told daily Swiss newspaper Blick.
She added that local residents were justifiably outraged by the spiraling costs of caring for the family, who require a team of social workers to spend six hours a day, six days a week on them alone.
When the woman and her family arrived in Hagenbuch three years ago, the municipal government immediately agreed to cover the full cost of their rent and £1,700 a month in living expenses.
A short time later the woman sought further financial help, claiming she had become overwhelmed by family commitments and was now struggling to look after all seven of her children.
This resulted in four of them being sent to an orphanage – with the local authority paying out £6,000 for each child every month – a total cost of £24,000.

As well as straight handouts, the family also reportedly cost the local authority thousands more every month by tying up social workers and carers for six hours a day, six days a week.
On average these social workers cost the council about £90 every hour they work, rising to £95 an hour in the evening or at weekends.

I am cutting and pasting this Hannity opening here because I think it reflects the double standard that we live under.
The situation in VA was a true disgrace on the American people but, the context should be explored. There is a reason why young white males congregated in VA this past weekend.

Would it wreck their universe to learn that both my husband and myself have been discriminated against in the workplace due to our skin color? I was paid less than a hispanic employee without the credentials I had and my husband was refused a job because they were waiting for an hispanic friend to graduate from college to take that job. This, BTW, put us on food stamps…
What did we do? Well, we dusted ourselves off and found different jobs.

A huge portion of America’s population already is over-medicated to an exceptional extent. Anyone who attempts to tell you that comprehensive, empirical studies have been performed with respect to the long-term, downstream, genetic effects (upon humans – not primates) of these powerful neurochemical drugs is a liar of monumental proportions.
Although I am not a qualified neurologist, the thought that some 20% of America’s population could be fed such powerful, mind-altering substances without extensive testing defies all comprehension.
One glance at the US opioid addiction crisis (and death rate) is an abrupt indicator of just how serious this problem is.
To think that such a basic neurohormone as Oxycontin could be administered to modify or “flatten” any (easily anticipated and proper) psychological response to potential external threats like non-assimilating “immigrants” (i.e., “economic tourists”) represents a flagrant violation of civilian rights and deserves to be fought by all means necessary.

Technology companies, for their part, have been taking pains to distance themselves from these customers.
But sometimes it takes more than automated systems or complaints from other users to identify and block those who promote hate speech or violence, so companies are finding novel ways to spot and shut down content they deem inappropriate or dangerous. People don’t tend to share their views on their Airbnb Inc. accounts, for example. But after matching user names to posts on social-media profiles, the company canceled dozens of reservations made by self-identified Nazis who were using its app to find rooms in Charlottesville, where they were heading to protest the removal of a Confederate statue.

The national debate about the fate of statues honoring Confederate politicians and military officers has reached a new level, with a black lawmakers’ group saying such memorials should be banned from the U.S. Capitol.
It turns out there are plenty of them.
‘We will never solve America’s race problem if we continue to honor traitors who fought against the United States in order to keep African-Americans in chains,’ Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Cedric Richmond, a Louisiana Democrat, told ABC News.
‘By the way, thank God, they lost,’ he said.

China military criticizes ‘wrong’ U.S. moves on Taiwan, S.China Sea
BEIJING (Reuters) – The “wrong” actions of the United States on Taiwan, its South China Sea patrols and deployment of an advanced anti-missile system in South Korea have had a large, negative influence on military trust, a senior Chinese officer said on Thursday.
Fan Changlong, a vice chairman of China’s powerful Central Military Commission, told Joseph Dunford, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, that mutual trust mechanisms between the two militaries had continued to improve, China’s defense ministry said.

SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – North Korea says it has developed intercontinental missiles capable of targeting any place in the United States.
Now comes the hard part of fulfilling the declared goal of its leader Kim Jong Un: perfecting a nuclear device small and light enough to fit on the missile without affecting its range as well as making it capable of surviving re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere.
To do that, weapons experts say, the isolated state needs to carry out at least another nuclear test, its sixth, and more tests of long-range missiles.
North Korea’s two tests of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) last month likely carried a payload lighter than any nuclear warhead it is currently able to produce, the experts said.
One way to have a lighter warhead would be to concentrate on developing a thermonuclear device, or hydrogen bomb, which would offer much greater explosive yield relative to size and weight.
Pyongyang claims to have tested a hydrogen bomb, but this has not been proven, said Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Program at the Federation of American Scientists.

A clever play to exploit the tensions between Trump and the congressional GOP as the media floods the zone about Trump’s press conference. Reporters will descend on House Republicans to ask them if they think a censure is in order. If they say yes, the pro-Trump Republican base will go berserk. If they say no, Democrats will cite it as “proof” that Republicans agree with him about the alt-right.
The odds of a formal censure must be south of 10 percent, although let’s see what polling on presidential job approval looks like next week. At a previous hearing, Al Mahdi pleaded guilty and expressed remorse for his role in leading the destruction, and urged Muslims around the world not to commit similar acts.

The report, ‘The Forgotten Foreign Fighters: The PKK in Syria’, says the government urgently needs to stop Britons joining the group.

Wasserman Schultz’ ex-IT aide indicted on 4 counts
Imran Awan, a former IT aide for Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was indicted Thursday on four counts including bank fraud and making false statements.
The indictment also includes his wife Hina Alvi.
The grand jury decision in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia comes roughly a month after Awan was arrested at Dulles airport in Virginia trying to board a plane to Pakistan, where his family is from.
Awan and other IT aides for House Democrats have been on investigators’ radar for months over concerns of possible double-billing, alleged equipment theft, and access to sensitive computer systems. Most lawmakers fired Awan in February, but Schultz had kept him on until his arrest in July

Anders Corr, a former government analyst who specializes in foreign influence operations, stated in a letter to Vice President Mike Pence that a Chinese military-linked company, JT Capital, gave $10 million to Harvard in 2014, the same year the family of Ronnie Chan, a Hong Kong real estate mogul with ties to China, announced it is giving $350 million to the university. It wasn’t strategy or statistics that made the Dems think that victory was certain. It was ideology.
Obama had spent two terms telling them that they were on the “right side of history”. The more the Dems swung left, the closer to the right side of history they were.
