Europe: “Big Business” Colludes with Islamism
by Yves Mamou
July 1, 2017 at 5:00 am
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10286/big-business-halal
When there is a profit to be made, capitalism has no political spirit and can collude with any ideology — from democracies to totalitarian tyrannies. This view was most recently set forth by the French anthropologist Florence Bergeaud-Blackler in her book, “Le marché halal ou l’invention d’une tradition” (“The Halal Market or the Invention of a Tradition”).
Bergeaud-Blackler claims in her book that “halal” food (food that, in Islam, is religiously permitted) was “recently invented” as a label and as a potential commercial market, in a collusion between Iranian fundamentalists and multinational agrifood businesses. In an interview with the French daily newspaper, Liberation, she said:
According to Bergeaud-Blackler, halal food, for centuries, had been reduced in Muslim countries to the prohibition of pork. All food, with the exception of pork, that had been produced both locally — and non-locally, by “People of the Book” (Christian and Jews) — was considered halal. But after the Iranian Revolution in 1979, halal became a fundamentalist food requirement habit, sanctified by economic interests. In the 1970s, Iran and Saudi Arabia, which were engaged in a competition to spread their vision of Islam throughout the world, found useful help by multinationals such as Nestlé, which had in mind the creation of the large global halal food market.
This one is thought provoking, it shows that under the right circumstances Islam can change but that this change can be reversed by one group of fundamentalists gaining power in one large Islamic nation. Another problem with this is that the change requires many decades to centuries to happen. We don’t have that much time.
The corporate angle is one that will be harder to fight, for a fight to cause large food suppliers to stop furnishing only Halal food is one that will be difficult to bring about. Once a corporation discovers that there is money is some legal product it is hard to stop their selling that product. To achieve this we will be required to educate large numbers of the public and stock holders in the corporations of the massive danger of allowing Islamic law to gain a food hold in our nations. Once one part of Sharia Law is followed in a Western nations the Islamic Invaders will treat this as the opening wedge to force more and more Shria Law into our nations.
“When there is a profit to be made, capitalism has no political spirit and can collude with any ideology — from democracies to totalitarian tyrannies.”
I am so fed up with this bashing of Capitalism. It is identical, in almost every respect, to the constant vilification of gun ownership. Capitalism, just like a firearm, is an amoral tool. It is the person wielding that tool who is responsible for whatever final outcome. Perish the thought that personal accountability (long a bête noire of the Liberal Left) might enter into this equation.
Another striking similarity between Capitalism and guns are their sensitivity to bad actors. A gun can be used to hunt food or mow down schoolchildren. Just as Capitalism can improve the quality of human life—which, unlike any other ideology in human history, it has done to an unprecedented degree—or be used to over-concentrate wealth such that the world’s eight richest men are now as wealthy as half the world’s population.
Make no mistake, it is not a sin to be rich. Where I draw the line is when America’s top 1 percent own more assets than the bottom 90 percent. Simple morality and ethics dictate that such massive financial assets be directed towards expanding wealth creation among those from whom such profits were made.
For the sake of clarity, creating jobs overseas does not count as any sort of “wealth creation”. Any member of the 1% who is wringing out every last cent of profit by ignoring the average American worker’s quality-of-life is committing a form of cultural and patriotic treason. Again, I am not asking this nation’s rich to open their veins as part of uplifting the poor.
Still, the notion that Bill Gates is well on his way to becoming this world’s first trillionaire even as his foundation insists upon funding only minority-based projects is a slap in the face for all of the Caucasian people who were largely responsible for his success. Again, it is his privilege to spend his wealth however he wishes (none of which addresses whether that wealth was ethically acquired). Regardless, how he spends that wealth merits intense scrutiny and Gates’s entire modus operandi remains questionable, at best.
Instead of any dedication to equitable or responsible financial management, we are treated to the grim spectacle of America’s financial and political elite closing ranks even as they erode social and economic mobility. Their collective attitude seems to be, “Après nous, le déluge”.
That is an unacceptable outcome and it remains my principal reason for advocating that the 99% of us burger flippers, secretaries, dentists, truck drivers, engineers, clerks, scientists, pilots, and all other walks of life, rally together and enact laws regarding highly toxic CEO overcompensation, rampant offshoring of jobs, curtailment of much-abused H1B visa programs, and a host of other modern American corporate practices that are driving horizontal class warfare in ways like no other time in this nation’s history.
Basta ya!
[/rant]
Where I draw the line is when America’s top 1 percent own more assets than the bottom 90 percent.
Thank the inheritance tax for this, when the government doesn’t try to redistribute wealth the rich families are 3 to 4 generations from manual labor to manual labor. but when the government starts placing barriers in the way the first couple of generatiosn find ways to shield the money from the government and generally their spend thrift heirs a couple of generations down the line.
You are talking about Bill Clinton becoming the first Trillionaire Given the way Obama spent money with a whole lot of it disappearing I think he is probably the worlds first trilionaire.
Richard I get in trouble for this a lot. I actually don’t care what anyone else owns or makes as long as it wasn’t unfair to me.
I made my own decisions in life. Nearly none of them have been about money. I have run this site, for just one example of many, for over 10 years now I think, supporting it for most of the time by working at part time jobs. Thankfully people step up and buy a Cross or donate now and that helps a lot, but thats not the point. The point is the people who decided to do things that made money, great for them. Some of them are happy, and some of them look at me and talk to me with envy.
Really.
Because it turns out, money is not the only kind of currency there is.
There is the satisfaction you get spending your time in a pursuit that is meaningful to you or others. It can be in the arts, and I have done that as well in spades, or in relationships, raising children, howsoever one lives one’s life.
I think the problem is when people play zero sum games with wealth but that is infinitely less common that socialists would have us believe. The vast majority of free market transactions are non-zero-sum.
I know people I grew up with, who are fabulously wealthy by any standard. Even a Saudi one. And others who did really well by my standards. None of it hurt me. Some of it helped me; when they wanted something I had or a service I could provide.
When people raise the 1% issue to me, I typically respond this way:
“Suppose you really liked cars and you wanted to be a mechanic. Lots of people do. Lets say you became a really good one, and you were passionate about Italian sports cars and loved to work on them. You would do it for free, but as it turns out, you live in LA where lots and lots of 1%ers are, and now you can get paid $650.00 an hour to do exactly what you love doing.
In soviet Union of course, “Ladas fix you!”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lada
PS:
Yes, some very rich people weaponize their money to hurt us. George Soros is the most famous of these but not the only one by a screaming long shot and not evenn the worst of them. But lots of people own guns as well. Its not what they have, its what they do with it.
I agree you totally, My goal in life is to learn more about everything I can, money is nice but only because it makes it easier for me to get source materials and live comfortably while I learn. I have friends who understand this and think I have a good life and I know others who think I am crazy because my motivation isn’t to make more money. The only time I get upset about people having money is when they try to use the money to oppress people, not just me but any and all people. If they aren’t doing this what they make is their own business, if CEO’s can negotiate a large salary that is between them and the stockholders.
CEO’s have always make more money then many thing appropriate, the the money the CEOs of the 40s and 50s was roughly equivalent of their current earnings, it only seems larger because of the planned inflation by the Socialist economics that we have been forced to live under. When the average worker was making $500.00 to $1500.00 per year and the CEOs were making $100,000.00 per year their wasn’t near the resentment by the workers. This was mainly because the left hadn’t destroyed the middle class and reduced the chance of people raising up to the upper 1% to 10%. This lack of a chance for raising on the economic scale for yourself and your kids causes class envy which the left uses to further attack Capitalism. They set up the conditions for the class envy knowing that the useful idiots will refuse to accep the fact that those they are looking to for salvation are in fact the people who are crushing all hope in the nation.
We are finally seeing the intelligent blacks in the US reaching out and trying to convince their lesser educated or intelligent people that the left/Dems are the ones who have enslaved them on the welfare plantation and that this was done deliberately (by destroying the black families and middle class). I wish this had happened 15 to 20 years ago because the civil/race/class war the left has been fomenting is so far along I don’t think there is enough time for the ones working to educate the enslaved majority of blacks to recognize the real enemies of freedom.
Freedom to make friends or not.
What most people don’t realize is that the vast majority of the Corporate CEOs don’t believe in Capitalism they don’t believe in a free market and competition. They believe in the variation of socialism called Crony Capitalism, this is why they donate so much money to the left, they are bribing the politicians to pass laws and regulations that stop people from starting new businesses to compete with the corporations. These same people are the ones who are now staffing the big merchant banks so the new entrepreneurs are finding it difficult to get startup money, and why so many merchant banks have been investing in the derivatives some of them are smart enough to know that they are just inflating a new bubble that will burst but they think the governments around the world will cover any loss and until it bursts they get rich.
“What most people don’t realize is that the vast majority of the Corporate CEOs don’t believe in Capitalism they don’t believe in a free market and competition. They believe in the variation of socialism called Crony Capitalism…”
Thank you, Richard, for making this vital distinction. Crony capitalism KILLS real Capitalism.
“…they are bribing the politicians to pass laws and regulations that stop people from starting new businesses to compete with the corporations. These same people are the ones who are now staffing the big merchant banks so the new entrepreneurs are finding it difficult to get startup money…”
This is what I was referring to about the 1% “closing ranks”. This, along with the insane over-investment in derivatives, is going to crash the global economy.

Some teacher in Utah had the brilliant idea to give her kids a homework assignment that sounds like it’s straight from Obama’s cheat sheet. According to reports, a 9th grade teacher gave her students the assignment of making an ISIS propaganda poster.
The assignment was supposed to shed light on why young Muslims are recruited and brainwashed by the organization. Instead of teaching how wrong ISIS is about literally every human ideal, she does this.
http://geckonewsmagazine.com/horrible-teacher-making-kids-draw-join-isis-posters-sickening/
This teacher is, effectively, educating her pupils to mentally rationalize the crimes against humanity that ISIS perpetrates on a regular basis. A pink slip would be too good for her.
This isn’t the first time this has happened, I remember one other and there are probably more we haven’t heard about.

America Needs a Post-ISIS Strategy
by John R. Bolton
June 30, 2017 at 10:00 am
https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/10601/post-isis-strategy
The headlines out of Syria are eye-catching: There are signs the Assad government may be planning another chemical attack. American pilots have struck forces threatening our allies and shot down a Syrian plane and Iranian-made drones. The probability of direct military confrontation between the U.S. and Russia has risen. Yet the coverage of these incidents and the tactical responses that have been suggested obscure the broader story: The slow-moving campaign against Islamic State is finally nearing its conclusion — yet major, long-range strategic issues remain unresolved.
The real issue isn’t tactical. It is instead the lack of American strategic thinking about the Middle East after Islamic State. Its defeat will leave a regional political vacuum that must be filled somehow. Instead of reflexively repeating President Obama’s errors, the Trump administration should undertake an “agonizing reappraisal,” in the style of John Foster Dulles, to avoid squandering the victory on the ground.
First, the U.S. ought to abandon or substantially reduce its military support for Iraq’s current government. Despite retaining a tripartite veneer of Kurds, Sunni Arabs and Shiite Arabs, the capital is dominated by Shiites loyal to Iran. Today Iraq resembles Eastern Europe in the late 1940s, as the Soviet anaconda tightened its hold. Extending Baghdad’s political and military control into areas retaken from ISIS simply advances Tehran’s power. This cannot be in America’s interest.
Iraq’s Kurds have de facto independence and are on the verge of declaring it de jure. They fight ISIS to facilitate the creation of a greater Kurdistan. Nonetheless, the Kurds, especially in Syria and Turkey, are hardly monolithic. Not all see the U.S. favorably. In Syria, Kurdish forces fighting ISIS are linked to the Marxist PKK in Turkey. They pose a real threat to Turkey’s territorial integrity, even if it may seem less troubling now that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s plans have turned so profoundly contrary to the secular, Western-oriented vision of Kemal Atatürk.
He does a good job of laying out part of the problem but doesn’t mention things that must be part of our thinking when we work to achieve a victory in the Middle East.
1) ISIS is a creation of hte Brotherhood, once it is defeated in Iraq it will transfer to Libya and continue its attempt to create a Caliphate. Once we manage to defeat ISIS the MB will spin off another group of fanatics to use against all non Islamic nations. What is the plan to defeat the MB?
3) He talks about the Kurds but what about the other groups that are fighting ISIS? The non Islamic groups that are flocking to the US dominated areas and to the Russian dominated areas. If we do nothing they will be stuck with Russia as their protector and this will give Russia an indigenous population to draw upon for soldiers.
4) He mentions (in passing) Erdogan and his moves to recreate the Ottoman Empire. This ambition is one we must watch closely because Erdogan is serious about recreating teh Ottooman Empire and reconquering all of the nations in the Middle East and in Europe back under Turkish rule.
5) How do we create a solution that will hold once Trump is no longer President? Personally I think he will be so successful that VP Pence will follow him for 8 years but we can’t ignore the possibility that the Dems or a new party like them will fool people into electing them
6) What are we going to do if?when civil wars break out in Europe? How will this affect our plans in the Middle East?
4) He mentions (in passing) Erdogan and his moves to recreate the Ottoman Empire. This ambition is one we must watch closely because Erdogan is serious about recreating teh Ottooman Empire and reconquering all of the nations in the Middle East and in Europe back under Turkish rule.
If, by coincidence every mujahadeen in Europe took to the streets of every city town and hamlet one night while the Turks in Turkey drive their army north and west to come to the rescue of their fellow Turks in Europe under threat of a backlash from the Islamophobes because of the unpleasantness occurring. That would cause the authorities to dance and run in circles would it not?
That would cause a mess, the European governments would have to decide which enemy force to fight first. That would be a long push for Turkey and success would require large amounts of reserve munitions and gas. I don’t know how far a Blitz attack would go or how fast it would go. I suspect that the would outrun their supply lines until they hit the Eastern Europeans around Hungry.
A lot would depend on how well trained and disciplined the Truks in the invasion force are?
This would make an interesting war game, and I am willing to bet that it has been played out at one or more locations by various Western military commands.

“You need to know that Eric Holder…played a key role in covering up the torture-murder death of my brother, Kenneth Michael Trentadue.”[1]
This is what Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue wrote in December 2008 to prospective incoming chairman of the Senate Justice Committee, Patrick Leahy. The newly elected Barack Obama had made Holder his choice for Attorney General and Trentadue was going to do everything in his power to stop this shameful appointment from going forward.
Kenneth Trentadue was killed in Oklahoma City on August 21, 1995, four months after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building. He had been taken into custody by the FBI and placed in an isolation cell at a federal facility in El Reno, Oklahoma.

“Political activist Ann Marie Waters has launched a bid to become the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP).
Giving a speech to a small group of supporters and publishing her manifesto, Ms. Waters put the promise to create a written British constitution at the heart of her campaign.
“This constitution will affirm free speech, equal citizenship and civil rights for all, the authority of British law on British soil, and our democratic process, while putting in place common sense safety guards so that democracy cannot be used in order to destroy itself”, her manifesto explains.
In 2016, Mrs. Waters was blocked from standing for UKIP in the London Assembly elections due to her role in Pegida UK. In the 2017 General Election, she was de-selected as a parliamentary candidate after party leader Paul Nuttall described her views as “way above and beyond party policy”.
In her manifesto, she promises to protect the NHS, make law and order her “priority”, and give party members more influence in making policy…”

Near 100,000 Migrants Cross Mediterranean To Europe in First Six Months of 2017 (breitbart, Jul 1, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/07/01/95768-migrants-cross-mediterranean-europe-first-six-months-2017/
“Despite efforts by individual nations and the European Union to get to grips with the migrant crisis, nearly 100,000 people crossed the Mediterranean in the first half of 2017.
While the significant figure is down on the same period in 2016 and shows the migrant deal with Turkey has been partially successful, the latest figures reported by the UN Migration Agency (IOM) show the problem is slowly shifting West.
Recording the total 95,768 migrants arriving in Europe by sea from January through to the end of June, the number entering Greece fell considerably in Greece but rose steadily in Italy and Spain, which has recently been reported as a “new migrant route”.
Of those 95,768, some 11,639 migrants had been “rescued at sea” between Saturday and Wednesday, the 24th to 28th of June.
Not all were so lucky. Many migrants are taken advantage of by ruthless people smugglers, who as well as raping and beating their “customers” also knowingly put them to sea on dangerous boats, knowing the majority will be picked up mid-voyage by European migration charities.
Some 2,196 people are known to have drowned in the Mediterranean in 2017 so far.
The new figures come just days after Italy threatened to close their sea ports to the migrant ferries operated by charities and NGOs, as the numbers arriving were overwhelming the country.
Although these numbers migrating to Europe may seem significant, taking the people smuggler’s boats across the Mediterranean is just one way to access Europe — and new figures reveal the enormous scale of migration worldwide. Breitbart London reported on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) latest statistics, which show five million migrants flowed into industrialised nations worldwide last year.
One of the most open to these migrants was Germany — of the 1.6 million people who applied for asylum in developed nations in 2016, 675,000 of them applied in Germany.
According to a leaked German security report that became public in February the supply of would-be migrants ready to follow the hundreds of thousands of their own countrymen who have already made the journey is not set to dry up. According to the secret paper, there are over six million migrants hoping to come to Europe in countries around the Mediterranean.
A similar report by the Austrian army has predicted Europe would see 15 million newcomers by 2020.”

97 migrants detained off Egypt’s Mediterranean coast (ahram, Jul 1, 2017)
http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/271844/Egypt/Politics-/-migrants-detained-off-Egypt%E2%80%99s-Mediterranean-coast.aspx
“Egypt’s navy foiled on Saturday an attempt at irregular migration by 97 people in a boat off the Alexandrian coast, the state-owned MENA news agency reported.
According to a statement by the Armed Forces, the migrants included Egyptians, Eritreans, Somalis, Sudanese, Syrians, Yemenis, and Chadians.
The migrants were detained and transferred to Ras El-Tin naval base, where they received medical care, according to the statement.
The statement did not include information about the destination of the boat, though it was presumably heading for Europe.
In September 2016, Egypt passed a law to combat irregular migration after a boat sank off the country’s Mediterranean coast, killing hundreds of migrants.
Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has spoken on multiple occasions about Egypt’s ongoing efforts to curb irregular migration from its shores to Europe – a key concern for European countries facing a growing migrant crisis.”
Egypt’s Sisi to attend Visegrad Group summit in Hungary (ahram, Jul 1, 2017)
“Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is set to fly on Sunday to Budapest, Hungary to participate in the Visegrad Group summit on Monday, the first participation by a Middle Eastern and African country.
The Visegrad Group – which constitutes Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic – was formed in 1991 with the aim of having member countries work together in a “number of fields of common interest within the all-European integration,” according to the group’s website.
Presidency spokesman Alaa Youssef said in a statement that Egypt is the third non-member state to be invited to participate in a Visegrad Group summit – after Japan and Germany.
El-Sisi is set to meet Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to discuss bolstering relations in economic, political, and cultural fields in the upcoming period.
Talks about cooperation in the field of transportation, especially in relation to supporting and developing Egyptian railways, are also to take place. Egypt’s transport minister Hisham Arafat will be part of the Egyptian delegation accompanying the president.
Youssef said that Egypt aims to benefit from the large industrial base of the four Visegrad Group countries, as well as attract new investments and tourists from Central Europe.
El-Sisi will discuss with the leaders of the four countries Egypt’s vision on combating terrorism and drying out its resources, as well as stopping irregular migration to Europe.
This is the second visit by the Egyptian president to Hungary since 2015.
Orbán visited Cairo last year, where he and El-Sisi discussed bolstering ties in all fields and promoting economic cooperation and investment.”

“Nearly 190 Islamic State Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) suspects were arrested in nationwide counterterrorism operations across Turkey in June, according to information from security officials.
Security announcements showed that 20 of 188 ISIL suspects, including foreigners, were remanded in custody to face trial on a variety of charges.
During counter-terrorism operations across Turkey, including ones in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and Gaziantep, security officials also thwarted planned attacks.
On June 15, in the southern Kilis province, four Azerbaijani nationals and one Bosnian wanted under an Interpol red notice were arrested for being members of a terrorist group while illegally crossing into Turkey from Syria.
On June 19, a Turkish court handed down a 15-month jail term to two Iraqi nationals for links to the ISIL terrorist group, a police source said.
On June 7, a court in the northwestern Sakarya province remanded in custody Halis Bayancuk, codenamed Abu Hanzala, a suspected senior ISIL member, according to a judicial source.
During operations, police, gendarmerie, and border troops also seized documents, weapons, and ammunition.”

“German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has admitted Germany’s failures in combatting propaganda activities of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in his country on June 30, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
“I think Turkey is right when it warns us and says we should not allow the PKK to carry out propaganda activities in public,” Gabriel told reporters in a news conference at the Foreign Ministry.
“I also think that it is unacceptable to ban public appearances of Turkish politicians, but at the same time [we] allow posters of Mr. Öcalan,” he said, referring to rallies of PKK followers in Germany, in which they use flags of the group and its leader, Abdullah Öcalan.
He also said on PKK was not only a threat for Turkey, but also Germany.
“The PKK was banned in our country in the early 90s, not only for what it did in Turkey, but also due to its involvement in extortion, drug trafficking, arms trade in our country; [and] due to the threat for citizens who came from Turkey to Germany,” he said.”
