“ITV host Piers Morgan came to blows with ex-English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson on Good Morning Britain today in the wake of the Finsbury Park attack.

Furious Piers Morgan slammed Robinson as a “bigoted lunatic stirring up hatred.”
Appearing on the show, the far-right winger prompted fury after accusing the Finsbury Park Mosque of “creating terrorists”.
Reid, 46, interjected and pointed out that although the mosque had had historical links to terrorism and hate preacher Abu Hamza, it had since reformed and was now winning awards for promoting integration.

Posting to his Twitter page, Robinson told his 309,000 followers: “Before people start aiming hate or threats at me about this revenge attack at your mosque tonight, I’ve warned for yrs what u will create [sic].”
He followed up with a second post, reading: “The mosque where the attack happened tonight has a long history of creating terrorists & radical jihadists & promoting hate & segregation.”
His words led Morgan to step in: “My issue is with what you did within one hour of this utter lunatic, this terrorist mowing down innocent people.”
The debate between the three of them grew more heated as Morgan and Robinson fought to speak over one another.
At one point, the Good Morning Britain presenter had to say: “This is how the programme works, you are a guest on our programme and you answer the questions.”
Reid then asked whether he wanted to implement a similar ban to the one Donald Trump had proposed, which would prevent muslims from coming to UK. Robinson responded by saying he would welcome a temporary measure.
The interview grew even more heated after Robinson presented a copy of the Koran. Piers Morgan told Robinson to “show some damn respect for people’s religious beliefs.”
Robinson said: “If I hold up this book and say, ‘There will never be peace on Earth so long as we have this book – it’s a violent and cursed book’. Can I tell you who said that? Sir William Gladstone.”
His actions enraged Morgan more, who asked whether he would do the same thing to the Bible as he lambasted Robinson: “Show some respect for people’s religious beliefs, stop waving it around. You’re sounding like a bigoted lunatic. You are an Islamophobe, who hates Islam.”
“I don’t hate Islam,” Robinson hit back as Morgan continued: “You think muslims are to blame. What you’re doing now is deliberately inflammatory. You are having the complete opposite effect to the one you say you have.
“You are stirring up hatred, you are abusing people’s religion, you’re being a complete disgrace.”
Morgan added: “We are in this mess because people abuse the wording of Islam. You abuse and mock their holy book.”
The heated exchange comes after the attack in Finsbury Park in the early hours of yesterday morning, which saw a man driving a van ploughing into a crowd of worshippers leaving one dead and 11 injured.
The identity of the perpetrator has now been released as Darren Osborne, who was said to have previously expressed hatred for muslims.
An eyewitness claimed that Osborne started yelling: “I want to kill more muslims,” after exiting from the vehicle.
Osborne’s family have since spoken out and expressed their sadness at the tragedy.
A vigil was held for the victims of the incident yesterday evening as leaders from different faiths came together in solidarity.
It is the third terrorist incident in London in as many months and comes in the wake of the Westminster Bridge and London Bridge attacks.”

“SHADOW home secretary Diane Abbott warned Britain could not combat Islamist terrorism while far-right extremism still exists in the country.
The Labour frontbencher said Muslim communities would be less likely to help police themselves if they feel like they aren’t being offered the necessary support against hate crime.
Ms Abbott made her return to frontline politics after a break from illness in the wake of an attack on Islamic worshippers outside a Finsbury Park mosque early Monday morning.
Darren Osborne, 47, was arrested on suspicion of carrying out the carnage, which Scotland Yard confirmed was a terrorist incident targeting the Islamic community, after allegedly smashing a van into a group outside the London mosque, killing one and leaving 10 injured.
The van attack came in there same three-month spell that the London Bridge and Westminster vehicle and knife attacks killed 13 innocent people and the Manchester suicide bombers killed 22 concert-goers.
Speaking to BBC News, Ms Abbott insisted the Government’s anti-terror strategy Prevent should be focused on the far-right as it is on Islamic terror.
“There has been a sense in the Muslim community in the past that Prevent and counter-terrorism strategy, generally, was targeted on them,” she said.
“But we’re seeing this rise in far-right extremism, it’s about a year since the murder of my late colleague Jo Cox by a far-right extremist, and we do have to take these issues more seriously.
“We also have to give a lead in terms of the tone of the debate around Islam. We have to get things in context and part of the context is far-right extremism is an issue.
“If we are going to build the confidence of the Muslim community in the Prevent programme we have to be seen recognising that.”
Ms Abbott said it “is more challenging” to combat far-right extremism because of the lack “community leaders” which are present in Islamic communities.
The shadow home secretary added the Labour Party backs the Government’s plans to crackdown on online radicalisation.
She said: “I agree what the Government is trying to do by working with the big four internet companies.
“We need focus on that, and we also need to focus on the tone of the debate around Islam.”
On potential plans for an online crackdown, Ms Abbott added: “It’s about stepping up our monitoring happening online, encouraging the companies to take down some of these sites and some of this discourse which is helping to radicalise people.
“They are in some cases reluctant to do that, but we know they don’t want to be facilitating extremism of any kind, so we think they can do more to take down sites, take down dialogue and to take people off their systems who can be seen propagating hate and hate crime.””

“A “VISIBLE divide” has opened up within the European Union between the “elite” and the general population, according to a major survey of public opinion across the soon-to-be 27-nation bloc.
The report by the Chatham House international affairs think tank found the “decision makers and influencers” of the EU were notably more optimistic about the future and committed to a common set of European values.
In contrast, it said there was a “simmering discontent” among the wider public over a range of political issues – from immigration to the power of Brussels – with large sections viewing the EU in negative terms.
The report is based on a survey by Kantar Public of more than 10,000 members of the public and 1,800 “influencers” from politics, the media, business and civil society, from 10 EU member states, including the UK.
It found that the “elite” were far likely to feel they had done well out of the EU, with 71 per cent saying they had benefited compared with just 34 per cent of the public.
Members of the elite were twice as likely to say they felt “very proud” of their European identity – 29 per cent compared to 14 per cent of the public.
When it came to the greatest failures of the EU the public were most likely to point to the refugee crisis, bureaucracy and excess regulation, and immigration while the elite emphasised bureaucracy and regulation although they also identified the refugee crisis and immigration.
The survey found the public was more likely to believe another member state would follow Britain and opt to leave the EU – with 55 per cent (not including UK respondents) saying they expected another country to go within the next 10 years compared to 43 per cent of the elite.
Among the British public, 72 per cent said they believed another country would leave – a figure only exceeded by Greece with 80 per cent.
Brexit was not viewed as a significant threat to the EU by the elite who ranked it only 12th out of 15 possible threats to the future of the bloc.
However they were split on the way forward, with 37 per cent of the elite saying the EU should get more powers, 28 per cent supporting the status quo, while 31 per cent thought powers should be returned to member states.
The report said that the survey had exposed a “visible divide” between the general attitudes, beliefs and life experiences of the two groups.
“Compared to the public, decision-makers and influencers are notably more liberal and optimistic, more committed to a pan-European identity and a common set of European values, and more likely to feel the benefits of integration,” it said.
“Meanwhile, there is simmering discontent among the public about a range of political concerns.
“Large sections of the public view the EU in negative terms; want to see it return some powers to member states; feel anxious over immigration and its perceived effects, as well as over the role of Islam in society; and are pessimistic about the future.
“Such views are especially strong among those with lower educational qualifications.”

The explosion caused a number of casualties in the south of the Somali capital Mogadishu on Tuesday, a government official said.
Al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab said it was a car bomb targeting a building housing government officials.
Officials said there was a “huge explosion” with at least ten people dead and 20 wounded in the blast which destroyed a government building and a number of cars.
Abdifatah Omar Halane, spokesman for the Mogadishu mayor, said: “More than 10 persons died, 20 others were wounded. The explosion destroyed the building of Wadajir District headquarters. More than 10 cars were destroyed in the explosion.”
The group Al Shabaab said they were behind the blast.

Targets received SMS messages with links which appeared legitimate but led to false sites and the installation of malware on their mobile phones, according to an investigation by the press freedom organisation Article 19 and Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto.
The malware recorded keystrokes and compromised contact lists. It was used against targets ranging from activists pushing for soda taxes to journalists reporting on alleged army atrocities and the lawyers representing the families of the 43 teacher trainees abducted by police.

Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain in 2012 turned over nearly $9 million in unspent funds from his failed 2008 presidential campaign to a new foundation bearing his name, the McCain Institute for International Leadership.
The institute is intended to serve as a “legacy” for McCain and “is dedicated to advancing human rights, dignity, democracy and freedom.” It is a tax-exempt non-profit foundation with assets valued at $8.1 million and associated with Arizona State University.

Air Force: As many as 135 patients may have been exposed to HIV, hepatitis at Al Udeid clinic
Improperly-cleaned medical equipment at the clinic at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar may have exposed as many as 135 patients to blood-borne diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis B and C over an eight-year period.
The Air Force Surgeon General said Monday that Air Force Medical Service found that endoscopes used for upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures “were cleaned in a manner inconsistent with sterilization guidelines” between April 2008 and April 2016. During that period, 135 patients had procedures using those medical tools.
In a follow-up email in response to an Air Force Times question, the surgeon general’s office said that blood-borne diseases that patients may have been exposed to could include HIV and the two kinds of hepatitis.
The Air Force Medical Service is now notifying patients who may have been exposed, and is providing contact information for healthcare resolution specialists who can answer patient questions and help them find places for medical counseling and testing.

Google said it would take a tougher position on videos containing supremacist or inflammatory religious content by issuing a warning and not monetizing or recommending them for user endorsements, even if they do not clearly violate its policies.
The company will also employ more engineering resources and increase its use of technology to help identify extremist videos, in addition to training new content classifiers to quickly identify and remove such content.

“Almost 50 per cent of newly-arrived young Austrian Muslim migrants hold anti-Semitic views, a new study published by the University of Teacher Education in Vienna reveals.
Der Standard newspaper reports that a recent poll asked Austrian Muslim students if they felt that “Jews have too much influence in Austria.” Almost 48 per cent answered in the affirmative. Those surveyed had migrant backgrounds representing a diverse set of Muslim-majority countries such as Syria as well as Muslim-minority countries including Bosnia, Albania, and Bulgaria.
The result follow another study published 12 months ago that showed a record number of anti-Semitic incidents across the country, ranging from verbal and online threats to assaults. Austria’s Jewish community stands at just 13,000-15,000 in an overall population of 8.8 million.
The authors of the latest study, Georg Lauss and Stefan Schmid-Heher, told Der Standard that “educational and prevention efforts against anti-Semitism need to be strengthened.”
Der Standard warned of the need to confront anti-Semitism among Muslim immigrants, writing the “refugee movement, where people from Syria, Iraq and Iran came to Austria, and in whose countries hostility toward Jews was politically cultivated” helps explain Jew-hatred.
As Breitbart London has reported, anti-Semitic incidents in Austria grew by 82 per cent between 2014 and 2015, Jewish community group Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde (IKG) revealed. Their report was collated by the non-governmental organisation ‘Forum Gegen Antisemitismus’ (Forum Against Anti-Semitism), a report in the European Jewish Press showed.
At the same time, the number of Jews leaving Europe for Israel has been slowly increasing for the last 15 years, but in 2014 the number doubled, and in 2015 it rose again. Meanwhile the number of French Jews in London is now so great that in January, 2016 the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St. John’s Wood began offering services in French.

“A research group in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at postelection polling data and concluded that the number of noncitizens voting illegally in U.S. elections is likely far greater than previous estimates.
As many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, which put Barack Obama in the White House.
The research organization Just Facts, a widely cited, independent think tank led by self-described conservatives and libertarians, revealed its number-crunching in a report on national immigration.
Just Facts President James D. Agresti and his team looked at data from an extensive Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters. Some acknowledge they are noncitizens and are thus ineligible to vote.
Just Facts’ conclusions confront both sides in the illegal voting debate: those who say it happens a lot and those who say the problem nonexistent.
In one camp, there are groundbreaking studies by professors at Old Dominion University in Virginia who attempted to compile scientifically derived illegal voting numbers using the Harvard data, called the Cooperative Congressional Election Study.
On the other side are the professors who conducted the study and contended that “zero” noncitizens of about 18 million adults in the U.S. voted. The liberal mainstream media adopted this position and proclaimed the Old Dominion work was “debunked.”
The ODU professors, who stand by their work in the face of attacks from the left, concluded that in 2008 as few as 38,000 and as many as 2.8 million noncitizens voted.
Mr. Agresti’s analysis of the same polling data settled on much higher numbers. He estimated that as many as 7.9 million noncitizens were illegally registered that year and 594,000 to 5.7 million voted.
These numbers are more in line with the unverified estimates given by President Trump, who said the number of ballots cast by noncitizens was the reason he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton.
Last month, the president signed an executive order setting up a commission to try to find on-the-ground truth in illegal voting. Headed by Vice President Mike Pence, the panel also will look at outdated voter lists across the nation with names of dead people and multiple registrants.
For 2012, Just Facts said, 3.2 million to 5.6 million noncitizens were registered to vote and 1.2 million to 3.6 million of them voted.
Mr. Agresti lays out his reasoning in a series of complicated calculations, which he compares to U.S. Census Bureau figures for noncitizen residents. Polls show noncitizens vote overwhelmingly Democratic.
“The details are technical, but the figure I calculated is based on a more conservative margin of sampling error and a methodology that I consider to be more accurate,” Mr. Agresti told The Washington Times.
He believes the Harvard/YouGov researchers based their “zero” claim on two flawed assumptions. First, they assumed that people who said they voted and identified a candidate did not vote unless their names showed up in a database.
“This is illogical, because such databases are unlikely to verify voters who use fraudulent identities, and millions of noncitizens use them,” Mr. Agresti said.
He cites government audits that show large numbers of noncitizens use false IDs and Social Security numbers in order to function in the U.S., which could include voting.
Second, Harvard assumed that respondent citizens sometimes misidentified themselves as noncitizens but also concluded that noncitizens never misidentified themselves as citizens, Mr. Agresti said.
“This is irrational, because illegal immigrants often claim they are citizens in order to conceal the fact that they are in the U.S. illegally,” he said.
Some of the polled noncitizens denied they were registered to vote when publicly available databases show that they were, he said.
This conclusion, he said, is backed by the Harvard/YouGov study’s findings of consumer and vote data matches for 90 percent of participants but only 41 percent of noncitizen respondents.
As to why his numbers are higher than the besieged ODU professors’ study, Mr. Agresti said: “I calculated the margin of sampling error in a more cautious way to ensure greater confidence in the results, and I used a slightly different methodology that I think is more accurate.”
There is hard evidence outside of polling that noncitizens do vote. Conservative activists have conducted limited investigations in Maryland and Virginia that found thousands of aliens were registered.
These inquiries, such as comparing noncitizen jury pool rejections to voter rolls, captured just a snapshot. But conservatives say they show there is a much broader problem that a comprehensive probe by the Pence commission could uncover.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which fights voter fraud, released one of its most comprehensive reports last month.
Its investigation found that Virginia removed more than 5,500 noncitizens from voter lists, including 1,852 people who had cast more than 7,000 ballots. The people volunteered their status, most likely when acquiring driver’s licenses. The Public Interest Legal Foundation said there are likely many more illegal voters on Virginia’s rolls who have never admitted to being noncitizens.”

Circulating photos of the mosque show male and female worshipers praying side by side– a prohibited act in Islam.
The mosque’s name, ‘Liberal’, is meant to signify the founders’ intentions to promote liberal and egalitarian ideology in mosques, such as allowing women to lead prayers.
However, as this is not allowed according to traditional Islamic teachings, Dar al-Ifta al-Masriyyah said in the statement that the mosque’s ideology is a clear violation of the rules of Islam.
The statement concluded by mentioning that such acts are not ways to combat extremism and terrorism; instead these acts are representing a violation of Islam.

A man killed while ramming a car loaded with guns and a gas canister into a police van on Paris’s Champs-Élysées stored a cache of weapons at his home and had a gun permit, French officials revealed on Tuesday.
The man, who has yet to be identified by French prosecutors, held the gun permit despite being on a secret service list of people linked to radical Islam.
A judicial source said investigators were compiling an inventory of the arms and equipment found in the 31-year-old’s home. His vehicle also contained an assault rifle, two pistols, ammunition and two large gas canisters when he rammed it into a police convoy on Monday.
The revelation of the discovery came after Prime Minister Édouard Philippe expressed dismay that the attacker was able to have a gun permit despite being on a jihadist watchlist.
Philippe said the individual first received a permit to possess a gun before he was flagged to intelligence agencies as a potential militant threat. At the time there was no reason to deny him the permit, Philippe said.
He noted that it was “quite possible” the licence was active at the time the attacker was on a security database. Three sources close to the investigation told the AFP news agency it was.
“Nobody can be happy, and certainly not me, that someone who has been flagged to security agencies can continue to benefit from such an authorisation,” Philippe told BFM TV.
The man was placed on France’s so called “Fiche S” watchlist after he was found to belong to a radical Islamist movement, two police sources said.
Individuals on the list are placed under surveillance though the intensity of that surveillance varies depending on the perceived threat the individual poses.

ALGERIA – Man jailed for dangling baby from window
A court in Algeria has sentenced a man to two years in prison for dangling a baby out of a window in order to attract “likes” on Facebook.
The man posted a picture of himself holding the baby out of a window in a high-rise building with the caption: “1,000 likes or I will drop him.”
It prompted other social media users to demand his arrest for child abuse.
He was charged with endangering the baby’s safety following his arrest on Sunday, police said.
The child was dangled out of the 15th-floor window of an apartment block in the capital, Algiers, news site Al Arabiya reported.
The man, who is a relative of the child, denied he put his life at risk, saying the image had been altered by social media users, Algeria’s privately owned Ennahar TV reported.
“The picture was taken in a balcony with protective barriers. These were removed,” he was quoted as saying.
The child’s father urged the court to forgive the man, saying he had just been playing a game.
However, the judge ruled against him, saying the picture was clear and the child’s life was in danger.
Articles shared on social media about the incident got thousands of mostly angry reactions, reports BBC North Africa correspondent Rana Jawad.
Many Algerians insulted the man, and praised the authorities for arresting him and sentencing him, she adds.
Earlier reports incorrectly described the convicted man as the child’s father.
