“PARENTS have been put on high alert after a 12-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by a gang of four men and forced into a black taxi.
Police are investigating after the child said she was abducted as she was on her way home from school in Stourbridge.
The 12-year-old told detectives she was in Teasdale Way, Wollescote around 3.15pm when she was forced into a black taxi by four white men.
She reported being driven round for approximately 90 minutes before the car stopped in Clent and the girl was able to get out and run away. A member of the public found her and helped to call police.
Parents in the area have been warned to be “extra vigilant” in the coming days and to make sure their children do not walk alone on their way to and from school.
A letter sent to parents at the nearby Earls High School said the girl is “well but extremely distressed” following the incident at around 3.15pm on Thursday May 18.
The Earls High School warned parents one of the suspects is a white man “with a foreign accent”.
Concerned staff said pupils would be allowed to use their phones to check with parents and guardians how they would get home in the wake of the alleged abduction.
The letter said: “We have been made aware today of a serious incident involving the abduction of a Year 7 girl from a local Dudley secondary school.
“The girl is safe and well but extremely distressed. The abduction involved a white male with a foreign accent who pushed a girl into a black taxi with two other white men…”

I have heard about “Witch-Hunts” all of my life. When I was a small child, Senator Joe McCarthy (R-Wis.) and the House Un-American Activities Committee were said by the left-wingers to be on a “witch-hunt” for Communists in the government. That’s what the left alleged against Richard Nixon when he was a young Congressman from Yorba Linda, too. The allegation was a bit misleading, though, because as far as we know, there are no such things as witches. There’s Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi and they are not nice, but no one could prove that there are even such things as witches, let alone that there are witches in high office.

White people dying has generally worked’: Black professor draws outrage for classroom remarks
A Texas A&M University professor suggested in class that “white people dying” is a time-tested way to eradicate racism from American society.
It’s just the latest audio recording from Prof. Tommy Curry’s classes that has been released by a group seeking his firing, as well as the firing of President Michael Young for his defense of Curry’s academic freedom.
Support Aggies, which says it represents alumni but does not identify its leaders, has been dribbling out clips of Curry’s classroom remarks for the past week, saying they prove he advocates violence against whites.
It’s soliciting signatures for a petition that pledges to withhold donations to Texas A&M, its private foundation and alumni association until Curry and Young are fired.
Curry has admitted the contents of the audio recordings released by Support Aggies are authentic, but he has portrayed his remarks as “scholarly analysis” and not a call to use violence against whites.

Putting flesh on this statement, two researchers have tracked the potential number of descendants from 100 Jews in each of five categories: secular, Reform, Conservative, centrist Orthodox, and right-wing Orthodox. After four generations, they project, and assuming current trends continue, 100 secular Jews today will yield only four progeny. From 100 Reform Jews, the number in four generations will have fallen to 13; from 100 Conservative Jews, to 52.
By contrast, 100 centrist-Orthodox Jews today will yield 337 Jews at the end of the same time span, while the Jewish descendants of 100 right-wing Orthodox Jews will number 3,398. And for that combined Orthodox total of 3,735, as the Pew data on “attachment” confirm, much about Israel will seem less foreign and less problematic.

Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah fighters and their allies in the army have reportedly fired a long-range ballistic missile at the Saudi capital Riyadh, a few hours ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Arab kingdom.
According to a report by Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network, the Yemeni forces, backed by allied fighters from Popular Committees, launched a Borkan-2 (Volcano-2) ballistic missile, a domestically modified rocket, aimed at the Saudi capital on Friday evening.

Meet Montreal cartoonist Sophie Labelle, a 29-year-old transgender woman, who saw her Facebook page targeted by a vicious and evidently coordinated online attack that deluged her and other transgender activists with hateful comments and death threats.
“It was an orchestrated attack on several trans support groups, trans people, and trans artists’ pages, and, as a community manager who has one of the biggest trans pages on Facebook, I was a target of choice,” said Labelle in an interview Friday.
Things took a more ominous turn when, on top of the trash talk, Labelle was “doxed” or received emails saying “Hey, look what we’ve got.”

An American Airlines crew and off-duty Honolulu police officer subdued a man Friday on board a Honolulu-bound flight after he tried to break into the cockpit.
The incident prompted U.S. Pacific Command to scramble two F-22 Raptors from the Hawaii Air National Guard, which escorted the flight from Los Angeles into Honolulu International Airport about 11:35 a.m.
Sources say the man, who is Turkish, breached security at Los Angeles International Airport, but was assessed and allowed to board AA Flight 31 anyway.

The German parliament is debating a proposal to force social media platforms to either delete hate speech quickly or risk hefty fines.
The problems that many critics point out are the vague definitions of the term “hate speech” and the restrictions that the proposed law may have on freedom of speech. Justice Minister Heiko Maas disagrees, arguing it will only help protect freedom of speech in Germany.
“The point of the proposed legislation is that statements that violate the law must be deleted,” Maas, a Social Democrat, said Friday, according to Deutsche Welle. “These are not examples of freedom of speech. They’re attacks on freedom of speech. The worst danger to freedom of speech is a situation where threats go unpunished.”
Flagrant violations need to be removed within 24 hours while more complex cases have to be removed within one week, according to the proposal. Failure to remove posts may result in fines of up to 50 million euros ($56 million dollars).

Authorities in Bangladesh on Friday arrested 27 men on suspicion of being gay, a criminal offense in the Muslim-majority country, and plan to charge them with drug possession, an official said Friday.
A commander of the Rapid Action Battalion, an elite police unit that made the arrests, said the suspects, mostly students aged 20-30 years, had traveled from across the country and were picked up in a raid on a community center at Keraniganj, outside the nation’s capital, early Friday.

“Some 123 Turkish journalists are fugitives abroad, while 159 of them were in jail as of the end of April, according to a report by the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC).
The Freedom of Expression and Press report, which was made possible by the European Union, said 46 new investigations were launched and 20 additional cases were filed against journalists in the first four months of 2017, daily Cumhuriyet reported on May 19.
“In the past four months, Turkey continued to be the world leader with the number of journalists in jail,” the report said, adding that in nearly all of the cases regarding journalists, demands for trial without arrest had been rejected.
The TGC said “it’s inevitable” to come across harsh criticism regarding press freedom in international reports, while asking for all journalists to be released, tried without arrest and acquitted.
Saying that it was “impossible” for journalists to fulfill their duties properly, thus violating the people’s right to obtain information, the association said the problems that journalists face include limitations on freedom of expression and the press, obstructions preventing journalists from freely conducting their work because of political and economic pressures, as well as hindrances that ensure journalists who use their right to criticize or refuse to report news from a certain political perspective cannot find work.
“Opposition newspapers, TV channels and the internet media, as well as intellectuals and columnists who use their right to criticize, should be tolerated,” it said, adding that “censorship and self-censorship were on the rise.”
The TGC also criticized the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) for “contradicting the concepts of the freedom of expression and press in a democratic society.”
“The shutting down of newspapers, magazines, agencies, internet news websites, publishing and printing houses and associations and foundations weren’t developments acceptable in terms of international human rights and concepts of law,” it said.
Meanwhile, prominent Turkish journalist Kadri Gürsel, who has been under arrest for over 200 days, sent a message to the International Press Institute (IPI), which he is a member of.
“They want to intimidate journalists,” Gürsel said in his message sent to the IPI annual media congress in Hamburg.
Gürsel’s message was read by his wife, Nazire Kalkan Gürsel, Deutsche Welle’s Turkish service reported on May 19.
Elsewhere, Council of Europe commissioner of human rights, Nils Muiznieks, urged Turkish authorities to abide by the practices of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as he commented on the situations of arrested journalists and human rights activists, Cumhuriyet reported on May 19.
Muiznieks especially mentioned the conviction of journalist Murat Çelikkan to 18 months in prison in the shut-down daily Özgür Gündem case over “making propaganda” of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), saying that “the development is worrying.”
“Çelikkan’s conviction provides a worrying illustration of a continuing trend of judicial actions targeting human rights defenders and an increasingly wide range of other civil society actors,” Muiznieks said.”

“Police conducted an operation targeting an executive of critical daily Sözcü and a number of other staff members, the Istanbul Chief Public prosecutor stated on May 19, after detention warrants were issued for four of the newspaper’s staff members in the early hours of the morning.
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor ?rfan Fidan told the Do?an News Agency that the operation only targeted executives of the daily, including its license holder Burak Akbay, and some other staff.
“[The operation] is about the executives of daily Sözcü. He [Akbay] is already a fugitive and there is an arrest warrant for him. There are detentions and the investigation is ongoing,” Fidan said.
“Proceedings are only being conducted against its manager and some staff members,” he added.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued detention warrants for Akbay, the online manager of Sözcü, Mediha Olgun, finance manager Yonca Kaleli, and ?zmir reporter Gökmen Ulu. The four were reportedly being investigated over alleged links to the movement of U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen, accused of masterminding the July 2016 failed coup attempt.
According to state-run Anadolu Agency, the journalists were accused of “being a member of terror organization and committing crime on behalf of the organization,” “assault against the president,” and “armed insurgency against the Turkish government.”

“At a Roman Catholic high school in New York’s Long Island suburbs, two dozen visiting Muslim students knelt and prayed while teens in uniform blazers from the host school looked on.
The trip’s agenda was simple: give students whose schools are just 16 kilometres apart but culturally worlds away a chance to get to know each other.
It is also part of an ambitious initiative that will be adopted by nearly 80 US Islamic elementary, middle and high schools starting in the fall to give Americans a better picture of US Muslims at a time when many feel targeted by President Donald Trump’s administration.
“Sometimes Muslims in today’s society are afraid of other people judging them,” Laiba Amjad, a 19-year-old senior at MDQ Academy Islamic school in Brentwood, New York, said during the visit to Saint Anthony’s High School in nearby Huntington.
“Other people are also afraid,” she said, referring to non-Muslims. “They’re thinking, ‘What if that person is an extremist?’”
‘Put into one group’
Americans are more likely to view Muslims, who make up 1 per cent of the US population, as extremists if they do not know one personally, according to a February poll by the Pew Research Centre. The same survey found that 60 per cent of Americans who know a Muslim believe there is little or no support among them for extremism but only 48 per cent of those who do not know a Muslim believe that.
“I hadn’t really interacted with many Muslims before this,” 17-year-old Chris Beirne said while he and fellow Saint Anthony’s seniors ate lunch with the visiting Muslim students.
“Muslims typically today are put into this one group with extremists,” Beirne said.
“I think the solution to that problem would be having events like this.” In an effort to overcome that perception, the Council of Islamic Schools in North America, the nation’s only accrediting agency for Muslim schools, is changing its curriculum. It will ask its 78 accredited or member schools, located across 24 US states, to arrange meetings between their own students and those at other, non-Muslim schools.
“People in this country, they want to know about Muslims, they want to know what’s going on inside Islamic schools,” said CISNA Director Sufia Azmat.
The Council is asking its educators to launch more volunteer projects outside the Muslim community, attend local government meetings and create a database of alumni to track their graduates’ success.
The move comes at a time when Muslims are under intense scrutiny, largely the result of extremist attacks carried out in the name of Islam in the United States and abroad.
‘Be open to outsiders’
In the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, an American-born gunman pledging allegiance to various hardline Islamist militant groups shot 49 people to death at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, last June.
Mainstream Muslim religious leaders condemn the violence, saying their faith forbids it. Muslims are the second-most targeted religious group in the United States for hate crimes, behind Jews, according to the latest statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations released this month showed a 57 per cent spike in the number of anti-Muslim hate crimes recorded in the United States last year compared with 2015.
The details of the US Islamic schools’ new curriculum are still being hammered out, but the purpose is clear, CISNA’s Azmat said: “Be open to outsiders.”
A recent study of about a third of the nation’s Muslim high schools conducted by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia found that the students did not vary much from their non-Muslim peers in terms of interests and sense of being American.
“These are very, very typical kids in a lot of ways, but also see themselves as Muslims and objecting to some things in American society just as a lot of Evangelical [Christian] and Jewish kids would,” said Charles Glenn, an education policy expert who led the study of Islamic schools.
Many of the nation’s Islamic schools have kept a low profile since the first school opened in the United States roughly 30 years ago, partly to avoid harassment.
The outreach efforts could face similar resistance to those of US state schools that have attempted to teach about Muslims in social studies classes. Some parents in San Diego, California, and Chatham, New Jersey, recently objected to lessons about Muslims.
The Al Fatih Academy, an Islamic school in Reston, Virginia, has been used as a model by CISNA for community outreach. On Election Day, a group of Al Fatih eighth graders concerned about anti-Muslim rhetoric asked voters at a polling station about the political issues they cared about most.
Some of the longest conversations were with Trump supporters, according to principal Afeefa Syed.
“At the end of the day, if we have more of these conversations and actions, it’s better for everyone,” Syed said.”

Philippines’ Duterte: China threatened ‘war’ over sea row
Manila (AFP) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Friday China’s leaders told him they were prepared to go to war over competing claims in the South China Sea.
