April 19? Mandela Effect?
Whining about religion is a whole lotta blah-blah while someone is laying a pipeline under your arse. It’s a great excuse, though, because it’s so much more noble to fight over than a few bucks, right? And the longer the war goes the more cost-effective a very expensive undersea line becomes.
Just sayin’ what if.. .

LNG tankers are akin to miniature nuclear bombs. I have long speculated about the potential death and destruction arising from an LNG tanker being catastrophically detonated in a major metropolitan harbor like New York or Long Beach. It would make the Cole maritime attack in Yemen look like a walk in the park.
Could’ve been written yesterday but it wasn’t. Could be about religion or left vs right, but it isn’t. Could be about the purview of this blog, but it’s not.

Symantec attributes 40 cyber attacks to CIA-linked hacking tools
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Past cyber attacks on scores of organizations around the world were conducted with top-secret hacking tools that were exposed recently by the Web publisher Wikileaks, the security researcher Symantec Corp said on Monday.
That means the attacks were likely conducted by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. The files posted by WikiLeaks appear to show internal CIA discussions of various tools for hacking into phones, computers and other electronic gear, along with programming code for some of them, and multiple people familiar with the matter have told Reuters that the documents came from the CIA or its contractors.
Symantec said it had connected at least 40 attacks in 16 countries to the tools obtained by WikiLeaks, though it followed company policy by not formally blaming the CIA.
The CIA has not confirmed the Wikileaks documents are genuine. But agency spokeswoman Heather Fritz Horniak said that any WikiLeaks disclosures aimed at damaging the intelligence community “not only jeopardize U.S. personnel and operations, but also equip our adversaries with tools and information to do us harm.
“It is important to note that CIA is legally prohibited from conducting electronic surveillance targeting individuals here at home, including our fellow Americans, and CIA does not do so,” Horniak said.

Computer hack sets off 156 emergency sirens across Dallas
(Reuters) – A computer hack set off all the emergency sirens in Dallas for about 90 minutes overnight in one of the largest known breaches of a siren warning system, officials in the Texas city said on Saturday.
Dallas’ 156 sirens, normally used to warn of tornadoes and other dangerous weather, were triggered at 11:42 p.m. CDT on Friday. The wailing did not end until 1:17 a.m. CDT on Saturday when engineers manually shut down the sirens’ radio system and repeaters, city Emergency Management Director Rocky Vaz said.
“At this point, we can tell you with a good deal of confidence that this was somebody outside of our system that got in there and activated our sirens,” he told reporters.
The breach in the city of 1.6 million people was believed to have originated in the area, city spokeswoman Sana Syed said in an emailed statement.
Vaz cited industry experts as saying the hack was among the largest ever to affect emergency sirens, with most breaches triggering one or two. “This is a very, very rare event,” he said.
Engineers are working to restart the system and should have it restored by late on Sunday, he said. Until the sirens are running, Dallas will rely on local media, emergency 911 phone calls, and a federal radio alert system, Vaz said.
The hack is being investigated by system engineers and the Federal Communications Commission has been contacted, but police have not been involved, he said.

Obama administration knew Syria still had chemical weapons but lied
By Jeff Dunetz April 10, 2017
As Howard Portnoy wrote on Saturday, Barack Obama lied to America many times for the sake of his reelection and/or legacy. There was the lie about a video being responsible for the spontaneous attack in Benghazi, the lie that the Iran deal included inspections, and the lie that the White House didn’t pay a ransom for the hostages. But a new lie has surfaced in light of last week’s deadly sarin gas attack on the civilian population in Syria. That is the lie that Syria relinquished all of its chemical weapons in 2013.
The evidence lay in congressional testimony in 2016 by Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper:

‘The thin blue line cannot be broken’
Think about this issue in terms of the 9-11 Atrocity. It wasn’t necessary to melt a single ounce of steel in the WTC’s I-beams and girders. Just a slight softening (i.e., reduction in Young’s modulus) was all it took to eventually initiate what would become a catastrophic structural collapse.
Similarly, Britain’s “thin blue line” need not be totally dismantled in order to profoundly impede its ability to protect the British people. Just a “softening” of allowable enforcement, discouragement of appropriate police profiling, and preferential treatment of “protected species” will neutralize law enforcement integrity. The rest is child’s play.
Same thing over here, the Ferguson effect.
This pomp, expense and national trauma outpouring of grief… to be prevented ever happening again… will turn them into a Sharia-Compliant police force.
That is how terrorism works
Another country heard from: Kim Jong-un tells Trump he’s ‘not frightened’ by strikes on Syria
By LU Staff April 9, 2017
“I ain’t a-scared of you.” That in so many words is the message that “crazy fat kid” Kim Jong-un has for Donald Trump following last week’s bombing raid on Syria, according to North Korea’s state-run media.
Calling the the Trump administration’s actions in Syria “absolutely unpardonable,” the North Korean foreign ministry said that while some observers suspect the strikes were a “warning,” the North is “not frightened.”
Trump carried out cruise missile strikes against a Syrian airbase Thursday in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack, allegedly the handiwork of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The missile strike on Syria demonstrates that “President Trump is willing to act when governments and actors cross the line,” Secretary of State Rex Tillerson explained after the strikes. “It is clear that President Trump made that statement to the world tonight.”
Observers have interpreted Tillerson’s message as a warning to other international troublemakers, such as North Korea.
Pyongyang said Saturday that the strike on Syria is “unforgivable” and asserted that U.S. moves justify its own nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The foreign ministry stated that the sudden strike on Syria demonstrates the decision to develop nuclear weapons was “the right choice a million times over,” adding:

Black man sets fire to Indian-owned store in NC, leaves note signed ‘White America’

The store’s owner, Kamal Dhimal, a native of Bhutan, earned his U.S. citizenship just last year, telling reporters he spent the last 20 years in refugee camps. He also allowed as how his resolve remains strong despite this ugly assault on his livelihood.

Police told NOT to travel in uniform to PC Keith Palmer’s funeral for ‘safety reasons’ (express, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/790084/london-attack-pc-keith-palmer-funeral-police-told-no-uniform-travel-london-westminster
“POLICE officers attending PC Keith Palmer’s funeral today have been told not to wear their uniforms when travelling to Westminster for “personal safety reasons”.
More than 5,000 police officers from every force in the UK are expected to turn out to pay their final respects to hero PC Keith Palmer, who was killed in the line of duty during the London terror attack in March.
The largest-ever gathering of British police officers will line the route to Southwark Cathedral, where the officer’s funeral service will take place this afternoon.
Changing cubicles have been provided for officers who have been advised not to travel to the city wearing their uniforms for “personal safety reasons”.
The advisory has been issued by the Metropolitan Police Federation.
About 50 members of PC Keith Palmer’s family, including his wife, daughter, parents and siblings, will attend the service.
More than 50,000 members of the public are also expected to turn out to pay their respects to the murdered officer, who was stabbed to death outside Parliament during Khalid Masood’s murderous rampage across Westminster.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service and from the wider service will be joined by colleagues from the forces of England and Wales to honour their fallen colleague.
The Armed Forces will be represented at the funeral by a number of serving and former members…”
“Police told NOT to travel in uniform to PC Keith Palmer’s funeral for ‘safety reasons’”
So, the declared enemy has no obligation, nor will they experience even the least penalty for being out of uniform … but PERISH THE FECKING THOUGHT that Keith Palmer’s fellow officers travel or dare to appear (at any points between) in their professional and sympathizing attire.
“What’s wrong with this picture?” [/Terminator]
Please recall that all of this Liberal hue and cry about “Geneva Rights” for these jihadist scum have NOTHING to do with legitimate combatants. As in, if you are caught on the field of battle out of uniform, YOU ARE A SPY AND ONLY DESERVE IMMEDIATE EXECUTION.
When Western powers decide to label all of these out-of-uniform jihadists as battlefield “spies”, the harsh interrogation and summary execution of these rutbags will begin to make a lot more sense.
Until then, this ongoing Western inability to defeat its most obvious, active, and determined foes will be the very worst sort of losing battle. Just as Liberal, Socialist, Communist, and Anarchist (e.g., Antifa fascist) elements determinedly worm their way into the foundations of Western Civilization, so will their
useful idiots“camp followers” (i.e., Muslims, Aztlan agitators, Black Liberation Theologists, Radical Feminists, and Militant Anti-Heterosexuals), along with their entire claque of divisive transnational, multicultural, globalist, and multinational annihilators of historic meaning continually seek to deconstruct the entirety of Western Civilization. There’s very little time left to weed out and
crushobliterate these subversives.Other than that, please carry on.

You are right, during the cold war the left pushed to ensure that we became so civilized that we couldn’t defend ourselves, this worked in the cities but to a much lesser extent in the small towns and the country. This is a prime example, instead of issuing weapons to all police and training them to defend themselves the leftist solution is don’t wear your uniform to a funeral and when on duty unless there are armed officers near run and hide.
USA will always be a global policeman, says Rex Tillerson as G7 leaders arrive in Italy (express, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/790113/World-War-3-US-Russia-Tillerson-Syria-air-strike-G7-Summit
“THE US has been flexing its muscles over the on-going crisis with Russia as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said America will take action against anyone who commits crimes against humanity.
Mr Tillerson told Tillerson told reporters while commemorating a German Nazi massacre committed in Sant’Anna di Stazzema, Italy in 1944: “We rededicate ourselves to holding to account any and all who commit crimes against the innocents anywhere in the world.”
The US attacked the Syrian air base in retaliation for what it said was a chemical weapons assault by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that killed dozens of civilians, including many children.
Mr Tillerson is in Italy for a meeting of foreign ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) major industrialised nations, with his counterparts from Europe and Japan eager for clarity from Washington on numerous diplomatic issues, especially Syria.
Before the April 7 missile strikes on a Syrian airbase, US President Donald Trump had indicated he would be less interventionist than his predecessors and willing to overlook human rights abuses if it was in US interests.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said its military strike against Syria over its alleged use of chemical weapons was a warning to other countries including North Korea that “a response is likely” if they pose a danger.
He said on CBS’s Face the Nation: “(Chinese) President Xi (Jinping) clearly understands, and I think agrees, that the situation has intensified and has reached a certain level of threat that action has to be taken.”
Commenting on US missile strikes against Syria last week, Peskov told reporters today the action had shown Washington’s total unwillingness to cooperate on Syria.
He said renewed calls for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down would not help to resolve the crisis.
Mr Peskov said: ”There is no other alternative,” to peace talks in Geneva and Astana…”
Since the only other possible candidates are Russia and China the US has no choice but to return to being the worlds policeman. What we also need to return to is the idea of winning wars instead of building nations.
Turkey WARNING: EU to KILL OFF membership bid with Erdogan as he calls for more power (express, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/790116/Turkey-news-EU-Erdogan-latest-referendum-EU-membership
“A REFERENDUM in Turkey on granting President Tayyip Erdogan sweeping new powers is unlikely to ease strained relations with the EU and risks killing off Ankara’s stalled bid for membership of the bloc, officials in Brussels say.
Even if voters do not give Erdogan the executive presidency he seeks on Sunday, Turkey’s democracy and judiciary will suffer damage and he is likely to put even more pressure on critics, they say.
Marc Pierini, a former European Union ambassador to Turkey now at the Carnegie Europe think-tank, said: “There is no good outcome.
“There is a very wide gap between European leaders and Erdogan and I don’t see that easily repaired.”
Turkey, a NATO member state that began talks to join the EU in 2005, has become a crucial partner for the bloc by taking in millions of refugees fleeing from the six-year-old war in Syria.
But a crackdown by Erdogan since a failed coup last July has been condemned in European capitals, and he has alienated the bloc further by accusing the German and Dutch governments of acting like Nazis after they banned referendum campaign rallies by Turkish officials.
One senior official said an Erdogan victory, which would pave the way for the president being eligible to serve up to two five-year terms, could bring stability allowing the EU to upgrade trade and business ties. “Otherwise it would be chaos,” he said.
But several others disagreed, with a second senior official rejecting that notion as “false stability in the name of one-man rule”.
With Erdogan supporters seeing a chance to cement his place as modern Turkey’s most important leader while his opponents fear an even greater centralisation of powers, polls suggest the vote – in which Turkish citizens abroad are also participating – will be close.
EU officials see all outcomes – whether a clear victory for Erdogan, a narrow loss or a contested result – as risky.
A win would embolden Erdogan to move ahead with proposed constitutional changes and possibly introduce the death penalty, they say, thereby ending Turkey’s bid to join the EU.
Its status is already an issue following the post-coup crackdown.
Legal experts at the Council of Europe, a human rights body of which Ankara is a member, warned in March that creating a presidency with virtually unlimited powers was “a dangerous step backwards” for democracy.
Erdogan and his supporters dismiss such claims, saying there are sufficient checks and balances in the proposed system, such as the president having to call simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections if he dissolves parliament.
Other scenarios are also bleak, EU officials say.
A contested result would likely provoke a period of instability, possibly more violence.
A narrow loss would see Erdogan, whose position as Turkey’s most popular politician is uncontested, remain in office.
EU officials said he could bring the presidential and parliamentary elections, currently scheduled for 2019, forward both if he loses and if he wins.
A third senior EU official said: “If he loses, we can expect a very harsh and brutal election campaign, we would probably see both sides resorting to violence.
“He would crack down on the opposition even more (and) … if the result is contested, it could destabilise the overall situation.”
Following the failed coup, 36,000 people are in Turkey’s prisons awaiting trial and more than 100,000 have been suspended or dismissed from work, according to the Council of Europe.
The ideal scenario from Brussels envisages a period of post-referendum calm that would allow the EU and Turkey to reset relations and modernise their customs union, possibly even relaxing visa rules for Turks travelling to the bloc.
A prerequisite for that is a breakthrough in Cyprus reunification talks, where Ankara is facing off against Nicosia and Athens, the third official said.
He said, anticipating Erdogan will move to review ties with the EU whatever happens: “There is no entirely good result of this for us in any case. But some scenarios would be worse than others.””
Sweden will ‘NEVER GO BACK’ to mass immigration after Stockholm terror, says shocked PM (express, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/790035/Sweden-terror-attack-illegal-immigration-crackdown
“SWEDEN’S prime minister vowed his country would “never go back” to the days of mass immigration after it emerged the Stockholm attacker was a failed asylum seeker.
During 2015 alone, Sweden received more than 160,000 asylum applications, resulting in the country closing its internal borders in an attempt to stagger the levels of migration into the country.
And more than 3,000 migrants are still living illegally in the Swedish capital alone.
But now Stefan Löfven has pledged to change Sweden’s liberal attitudes to immigration, and insisted the massive influx would never be allowed to happen again.
It comes after migrant Rakhmat Akilov from Uzbekistan drove a stolen 30-tonne truck into pedestrians at a busy department store in Stockholm on Friday.
Four were killed, including Britton and father-of-two Chris Bevinton, and 15 injured in the harrowing attack, which showed clear similarities to the London terror attack last month.
Akilov is believed to have carried out a reconnaissance of his route just days earlier.
The failed asylum seeker had been given four weeks to leave Sweden in December after his final appeal failed.
But he managed to evade detection simply by giving the authorities a fake address.
Now Mr Löfven has pledged to crackdown on illegal immigration – vowing to deport migrants who’s asylum applications fail immediately.
He said: “Sweden will never go back to the [mass migration] we had in autumn 2015, never.
“Everyone who has been denied a permit should return home.
“This makes me feel enormously frustrated. If you have been denied a visa you are supposed to leave the country.”
Akilov, 39, had previously expressed support for Islamic State – telling police he carried out the attack on their orders.
He also reportedly told officers he was “pleased with what he had done” and had “accomplished what he set out to do”.
Police added a bomb, which was found in the truck after the attack when it failed to detonate, contained gas canisters, chemicals and nails.
Mr Löfven added: “Terrorists want us to be afraid, want us to change our behaviour, want us to not live our lives normally, but that is what we’re going to do.
“Terrorists can never defeat Sweden, never.””
Trump to sell attack planes to Nigeria for Boko Haram fight (abcnews, Apr 10, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/us-sell-attack-planes-nigeria-boko-haram-fight-46697894
“The Trump administration will move forward with the sale of high-tech aircraft to Nigeria for its campaign against Boko Haram Islamic extremists despite concerns over abuses committed by the African nation’s security forces, according to U.S. officials.
Congress is expected to receive formal notification within weeks, setting in motion a deal with Nigeria that the Obama administration had planned to approve at the very end of Barack Obama’s presidency. The arrangement will call for Nigeria to purchase up to 12 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano aircraft with sophisticated targeting gear for nearly $600 million, one of the officials said.
The officials were not authorized to discuss the terms of the sale publicly and requested anonymity to speak about internal diplomatic conversations.
Though President Donald Trump has made clear his intention to approve the sale of the aircraft, the National Security Council is still working on the issue. Military sales to several other countries are also expected to be approved but are caught up in an ongoing White House review. Nigeria has been trying to buy the aircraft since 2015.
The Nigerian air force has been accused of bombing civilian targets at least three times in recent years. In the worst incident, a fighter jet on Jan. 17 repeatedly bombed a camp at Rann, near the border with Cameroon, where civilians had fled from Boko Haram. Between 100 and 236 civilians and aid workers were killed, according to official and community leaders’ counts.
That bombing occurred on the same day the Obama administration intended to officially notify Congress the sale would go forward. Instead, it was abruptly put on hold, according to an individual who worked on the issue during Obama’s presidency. Days later, Trump was inaugurated…”

Indian army says 4 suspected rebels killed in Kashmir (abcnews, Apr 10, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/indian-army-suspected-rebels-killed-kashmir-46698562
“Four suspected rebels were killed in fighting with the Indian army in Kashmir, as businesses and schools shut in the disputed region on Monday in response to a separatists’ call to protest the killing of eight civilians by government forces during a weekend by-election, officials said.
Army spokesman Col. Rajesh Kalia said a gunbattle erupted Sunday night after the four militants crossed from Pakistani side of the Himalayan territory into the Indian-held portion of Kashmir in Keran sector.
There was no independent confirmation of the incident.
Meanwhile, a strike called by separatists who challenge India’s sovereignty over Kashmir paralyzed life in the Kashmir Valley on Monday.
Widespread protests and clashes on Sunday marred a by-election for a vacant seat in India’s Parliament as thousands of people attacked polling stations.
Government forces fired on rock-throwing protesters, killing eight people and wounding at least 100. Officials said about 100 police and paramilitary soldiers were also injured in the clashes…”
Red Bull Boss Slams Mass Migration, Forced Multiculturalism in Europe (breitbart, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/04/10/red-bull-slams-mass-migration-eu/
“In a rare interview, Red Bull boss and Austria’s richest man Dietrich Mateschitz has slammed mass migration and political correctness, warning they threaten to destroy Europe’s true cultural diversity.
Speaking to Kleine Zeitung, the Formula 1 investor called the decision of key politicians to open the borders — which resulted in Europe’s migration crisis — “unpardonable”, noting that “if a company were to make mistakes on the same scale, it would have gone broke”.
Highlighting the “hypocrisies” of what he called the “refugees welcome brigade” with regards to migration, Mateschitz said: “I am talking about the fact that none of the people shouting ‘refugees welcome’ or [Chancellor Angela Merkel’s famous phrase] ‘we can do it’ were preparing their own guest rooms or tents in their gardens to accommodate half a dozen migrants.
“Even then it was clear to everyone that most of the people [arriving in the continent] did not correspond to the definition of the refugee. In any case, not the Geneva Convention”.
In the interview, Mateschitz took a stand against the “destabilisation of Europe”, which he said threatens the “uniqueness of [the continent’s] diversity and individuality with its different cultures and languages”.
“I hope I’m not the only one who’s worried that one of the highest officials in Brussels said that countries which aren’t multicultural should be wiped off the map”, Mateschitz told the newspaper, possibly alluding to comments made by European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans in 2015.
“Any society, anywhere in the world, will be diverse in the future — that’s the future of the world,” Timmermans said, demanding that Eastern and Central EU nations undergo similar demographic transitions to Western Europe.
Of political correctness, Mateschitz said: “It seems that no one dares to tell the truth, even if everyone knows what the truth is.”
“The elites want citizens to be frightened, and easily manipulated,” he added.
The Red Bull founder said he sees numerous problems plaguing the European Union (EU), the architects of whom he fingered as belonging to a “so-called intellectual elite” with nothing to contribute to the continent.
“Policies which are steeped in political correctness have been imposed in the name of a self-proclaimed, so-called intellectual elite who have nothing to contribute to our country neither economically nor culturally despite their best intentions,” he said.
Mateschitz also poured scorn on how Russia has been framed as the EU’s nemesis by large parts of the media and Western liberal establishment, telling Kleine Zeitung: “I do not need anyone to tell me who my enemies are.”
Criticising attempts to destroy the former Soviet superpower through economic sanctions, the Formula 1 investor pointed out that “for Europe as a whole [this policy] results in losing billions of Euros”.
Challenged by the Austrian newspaper with the assertion that he too is an ‘elite’, Mateschitz hit back, describing himself as a “humanist” but “someone who basically opposes any dogma”.
Speaking about banning the Islamic veil, a talking point in Austria currently, the Red Bull boss said: “I can’t bring myself to think that this is really a matter of any importance … It’s silly to make a political issue out of something like this when there are far more pressing matters.””

In a report for pro-Brexit campaign group Leave Means Leave, MEP and former UKIP migration and financial affairs spokesman Steven Woolfe calls for a new visa scheme combining the Australian points-based system with work permits.
According to the plan, there would not be a cap on the number of highly skilled workers, entrepreneurs, or investors but unskilled visas would be completely stopped for five years…”

Coalition troops known as VSO, lead by the US, said the group had launched an attack on Saturday on the Tanf garrison on the Syrian-Jordanian border using a vehicle-borne IED, and 20-30 fighters followed with a ground assault and suicide vests.
It is believed that at least one explosive-laden vehicle tried to ram an entrance to the base.
The attack came days after Donald Trump launched airstrikes on Syria late on Thursday – in response to a chemical weapons attack on civilians allegedly carried out by Bashar al-Assad’s government…”

“A Somali official says security forces recovered an Indian-registered boat hijacked by Somali pirates nearly a week ago, but nine of the crew are still being held hostage.
Abdullahi Ahmed Ali, the mayor of Hobyo, told The Associated Press Monday that security forces rescued two crew members in the boat Sunday night but pirates escaped to land and have nine of the Indian crew.
In recent weeks there has been a resurgence of piracy off Somalia’s coast after five years of inactivity. Somalia’s piracy was once a serious threat to the global shipping industry. It has lessened in recent years after an international effort to patrol near Somalia, whose weak central government has been trying stabilize the country after 25 years of conflict.”

“A court in western Germany has found a 16-year-old Syrian refugee guilty of planning to carry out a bomb attack.
The Cologne regional court sentenced the teenager, who wasn’t identified due to German privacy laws, to two years in prison.
He was arrested in September. The defendant’s lawyers had asked for an acquittal.
In its ruling Monday, the court accepted the prosecution’s claim that the teen received bomb-making instructions from a person in Israel with ties to the Islamic State group.
Judges said the teen’s plans were at a very early stage and the public never was in concrete danger.
They also noted that the refugee was extremely lonely when he reached out to radical Islamic jihadists.
The ruling can be appealed.”

Iran’s long-exiled prince wants a revolution in age of Trump (abcnews, Apr 10, 2017)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/irans-long-exiled-prince-revolution-age-trump-46703998
“Iran’s exiled crown prince wants a revolution.
Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah to rule before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has seen his profile rise in recent months following the election of U.S. President Donald Trump, who promises a harder line against the Shiite power.
Pahlavi’s calls for replacing clerical rule with a parliamentary monarchy, enshrining human rights and modernizing its state-run economy could prove palatable to both the West and Iran’s Sunni Gulf neighbors, who remain suspicious of Iran’s intentions amid its involvement in the wars in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
But the Mideast is replete with cautionary tales about Western governments putting their faith in exiles long estranged from their homelands. Whether Pahlavi can galvanize nostalgia for the age of the Peacock Throne remains unseen.
“This regime is simply irreformable because the nature of it, its DNA, is such that it cannot,” Pahlavi told The Associated Press. “People have given up with the idea of reform and they think there has to be fundamental change. Now, how this change can occur is the big question.”
Pahlavi left Iran at age 17 for military flight school in the U.S., just before his cancer-stricken father Mohammad Reza Pahlavi abandoned the throne for exile. The revolution followed, with the creation of the Islamic Republic, the takeover of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and the sweeping away of the last vestiges of the American-backed monarchy.
Yet the Pahlavis and the age of the monarchy have retained their mystique in Iran, even as the majority of its 80 million people weren’t alive to experience it. Television period pieces have focused on their rule, including the recent state TV series “The Enigma of the Shah,” the most expensive series ever produced to air in the country. While incorporating romances or mobsters into the tales, all uniformly criticize the royal court.
But Pahlavi, 56, insists young Iranians increasingly look toward Iran’s past. He pointed to recent demonstrations at the tomb of the pre-Islamic King Cyrus the Great, which have been claimed by a variety of anti-government forces as a sign of unrest. Under his father’s secular and pro-Western rule, Iran experienced a rapid modernization program financed by oil revenues.
“If you look at the legacy that was left behind by both my father and my grandfather … it contrasts with this archaic, sort of backward, religiously rooted radical system that has been extremely repressive,” Pahlavi said.
Since the U.S. election, Pahlavi has given a growing number of media interviews, including with Breitbart, the far-right website once run by Trump’s chief strategist, Steve Bannon. Pahlavi also has sent letters to the Trump administration…”
If it hadn’t been for Jimmy Carter his father wouldn’t have left and the whole Islamic revolution thing wouldn’t have happened. This is a fact the left will never admit.

the guardian – Migrants from west Africa being ‘sold in Libyan slave markets’
UN migration agency says selling of people is rife in African nation that has slid into violent chaos since overthrow of Gaddafi
West African migrants are being bought and sold openly in modern-day slave markets in Libya, survivors have told a UN agency helping them return home.
Trafficked people passing through Libya have previously reported violence, extortion and slave labour. But the new testimony from the International Organization for Migration suggests that the trade in human beings has become so normalised that people are being traded in public.
“The latest reports of ‘slave markets’ for migrants can be added to a long list of outrages [in Libya],” said Mohammed Abdiker, IOM’s head of operation and emergencies. “The situation is dire. The more IOM engages inside Libya, the more we learn that it is a vale of tears for all too many migrants.”
The north African nation is a major exit point for refugees from Africa trying to take boats to Europe. But since the overthrow of autocratic leader Muammar Gaddafi, the vast, sparsely populated country has slid into violent chaos and migrants with little cash and usually no papers are particularly vulnerable.
One 34-year-old survivor from Senegal said he was taken to a dusty lot in the south Libyan city of Sabha after crossing the desert from Niger in a bus organised by people smugglers. The group had paid to be taken to the coast, where they planned to risk a boat trip to Europe, but their driver suddenly said middlemen had not passed on his fees and put his passengers up for sale.
“The men on the pick-up were brought to a square, or parking lot, where a kind of slave trade was happening. There were locals – he described them as Arabs – buying sub-Saharan migrants,” said Livia Manante, an IOM officer based in Niger who helps people wanting to return home.
She interviewed the survivor after he escaped from Libya earlier this month and said accounts of slave markets were confirmed by other migrants she spoke to in Niger and some who had been interviewed by colleagues in Europe.
“Several other migrants confirmed his story, independently describing kinds of slave markets as well as kinds of private prisons all over in Libya,” Manente said. “IOM Italy has confirmed that this story is similar to many stories reported by migrants and collected at landing points in southern Italy, including the slave market reports. This gives more evidence that the stories reported are true, as the stories of those who managed to cross-match those who are returning back to their countries.”
After his sale, the Senegalese migrant was taken to a makeshift prison of a kind that has been well documented in Libya. Those held inside are forced to work without pay, or on meagre rations, and their captors regularly call family at home demanding a ransom. His captors asked for 300,000 west African francs (about £380), then sold him on to a larger jail where the demand doubled without explanation.
Men who lingered there too long without the ransom being paid were taken away and killed, he said. Some wasted away on meagre rations in unsanitary conditions, dying of hunger and disease, but overall numbers never fell. “If the number of migrants goes down, because of death or someone is ransomed, the kidnappers just go to the market and buy one,” Manente said.
His terrified family began scraping together loans. As he spoke fluent English, French and some local languages, he translated for his jailers to win time for relatives to collect the money.
Many other migrants flee Libya with similar stories, said Giuseppe Loprete, chief of mission at IOM Niger. “Its very clear they see themselves as being treated as slaves,” he said.
Loprete’s office has arranged for the repatriation of 1,500 people in the first three months of this year – almost the same number as in the whole of 2015. He fears more horrors are likely to emerge.
“There are now more migrants coming back from Libya, so that’s also why all these stories are coming to the surface,” he said. “And conditions are worsening in Libya so I think we can also expect more in the coming months.”
Even growing international awareness of the problems migrants face is being exploited. IOM has had credible reports of criminals posing as aid groups that help migrants to lure in people who have escaped or bought their freedom and want to return home.
The organisation is working to spread awareness across west Africa of the horrors of the journey through the personal stories of those who return. Though most migrants know the boat trips to Europe are extremely risky, fewer realise they may face even worse dangers in Libya before even reaching the coast.
“Tragically, the most credible messengers are migrants returning home with IOM help,” said spokesman Leonard Doyle. “Too often they are broken, brutalised and have been abused. Their voices carry more weight than anyone else’s.”

What do they expect? Everywhere there is Islam there is slavery, while it isn’t openly carried out there are probably slave markets in all Western nations.
the guardian – Trump aide drew plan on napkin to partition Libya into three
Exclusive: Sebastian Gorka told proposal would be ‘the worst solution’ when he suggested it to senior European diplomat
A senior White House foreign policy official has pushed a plan to partition Libya, and once drew a picture of how the country could be divided into three areas on a napkin in a meeting with a senior European diplomat, the Guardian has learned.
Sebastian Gorka, a deputy assistant to Donald Trump under pressure over his past ties with Hungarian far-right groups, suggested the idea of partition in the weeks leading up to the US president’s inauguration, according to an official with knowledge of the matter. The European diplomat responded that this would be “the worst solution” for Libya.
Gorka is vying for the job of presidential special envoy to Libya in a White House that has so far spent little time thinking about the country and has yet to decide whether to create such a post.
Libya has been mired in a conflict between two competing governments since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 after a Nato-led intervention. As rival jostle for influence and position in Washington on the hitherto neglected issue, sharp differences have emerged over how much say Russia should have in Libya’s fate.
There are fears among some European allies that the White House will reverse the Obama administration’s strong support for the UN-backed Libyan government of national accord, which is based in Tripoli and led by Fayez al-Sarraj.
While the GNA has been seen by some as the best option for achieving stability in the country, it has struggled against a rival government based in Tobruk, eastern Libya, backed by Khalifa Haftar, an anti-Islamist military strongman. Haftar, who would not back partition, has support in some parts of the Egyptian and Russian governments.
In January, he was welcomed onboard the Admiral Kuznetsov, the Russian flagship, as the aircraft carrier sailed along the north African coast. Haftar, a 73-year-old field marshal and former Gaddafi general who later became his bitter opponent, presents himself as a bulwark against Islamism and the Muslim Brotherhood, which makes him appealing to elements of the Trump foreign policy team.
Gorka advocates hardline policies aimed at defeating “radical Islam” and sees the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group bent on infiltrating the US. As a former Breitbart editor, he is close to Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist, who believes the struggle against radical Islam should be the central theme of US foreign policy. But Bannon’s star is on the wane in the White House and he lost his seat on the national security council last week.
Gorka has alarmed foreign diplomats with his views on Libya’s future. The map he drew on a napkin during the transition period cut Libya into three sections, apparently based on the old Ottoman provinces of Cyrenaica in the east, Tripolitania in the north-west and Fezzan in the south-west.
Mattia Toaldo, a Libya expert at the European Council on Foreign Relations thinktank, said: “This is like a litmus test of how much you know about Libya. If you the only thing you know is that it was cut into three, then it shows you are clueless about the situation in Libya.”
Gorka’s rivals for the envoy job include Pete Hoekstra, a former congressman and lobbyist, and Phillip Escaravage, a former US intelligence official who worked on Libya for more than a decade.
Escaravage is generally considered to be the clear favourite to take on the unpaid role. He is believed to have put forward a peace proposal heavily dependent on tens of billions of dollars in western financial support.
At least one European ally has privately expressed frustration at the US state department’s lack of a position on Libya, voicing concerns over Russia’s growing influence.
While separatists who support partition claim that a viable state could be built in eastern Libya, most experts agree that the move would stoke another civil war because the boundaries would be hotly disputed.
Representatives of the Tobruk government, including Haftar, have sought to influence the Trump administration, calling for the US to radically change its position and withdraw support for the Sarraj government.
In a phone interview with the Guardian, Ari Ben-Menashe, an Israeli security consultant based in Canada, whose company has a $6m (£4.9m) contract to lobby on behalf of Haftar and Aguila Saleh Issa, the head of the Libyan house of representatives in Tobruk, said the White House had been “briefed” on Libya and was “willing to play on our terms”.
“There is not going to be a partition,” Ben-Menashe said. “None of them [Trump administration officials] really knew anything about what was going on. They were briefed pretty extensively by us and … they understand that Sarraj will never work.”
Ben-Menashe said it was understood by the Trump administration that a central Libyan government acceptable to the west and east of the country could be created “in three days” if Russia were more involved. The Trump administration, he added, was “interested in getting the help of Russians and interested in getting them to resolve it”.
Support for the eastern government was growing in parts of Europe, including the UK, Ben-Menashe said. “We have talked to the Brits, the Norwegians, the Swiss. We did a lot of work on this,” he added.

“I don’t even know which news outlet I can take as credible anymore.”
Very good, Grasshopper. You are now ready to attain true enlightenment.
None, as in exactly none, of the MSM (Main-Stream Media) can be regarded as trustworthy. That includes Fox News and a host of once semi-reliable information outlets. We are in an age of “presstitution”. Large corporations are taking control of news media portals and essentially have nullified any possibility of the general public accessing reliable or unbiased journalism.
I refer you to the following chart: Ideological Placement of Each [News] Source’s Audience
While this Liberal slant has been an issue for quite some time, never before has reportorial bias been so ridiculously flagrant or brazen. It is a principal reason why I continue to maintain that the real winner of this recent presidential election was not Donald Trump, but the American people.
For those willing to keep their eyes open during the last election cycle, put on display was the most shameless and unapologetic demonstration of voter manipulation that I’ve seen in my entire lifetime. The big win resided in how Americans finally were given an undeniable opportunity to justifiably reject (or, at least, routinely question) all future media input.
This came with a corresponding exhibition of unreliability from news outlets in the form of network and cable sources so thoroughly skewing their polling methods and statistics to where they were utterly incapable of anticipating the possibility of a Trump victory.
Keeping Hillary Clinton out of—and putting Trump into—the Oval Office were minor victories compared to the American electorate being given such a a glaring demonstration of unembarrassed and barefaced vote rigging by the MSM.
If this is the sole benefit of our nation’s entire 2016 national election cycle, it will have been worth it beyond all measure. Now, it is up to patriotic Americans. Their duty to the USA is learning how to winnow out the truth from Internet news outlets. Especially the alternative information sources like this one.
As a post script: Why so you think that politicians and corporations alike are suddenly so eager to begin curtailing Freedom of Speech and Expression in the web?
If you’ve read this far, I thank you.

“Fighting terrorism must involve preventing Muslim communities from imposing their way of life in France and requires more than just repression, presidential candidate Marine Le Pen said on Monday.
“A multicultural society is a multiconflict society,” she said in a speech in Paris. “I want every French person, no matter where they are in France, to maintain their liberty and their rights that Islamic fundamentalists want to deny them. Multiculturalism is the soft weapon of Islamic fundamentalists, which is allowed by useful idiots under the guise of tolerance.”
Le Pen, head of the anti-immigrant, anti-European Union National Front, called for France’s constitution to be changed so that it doesn’t recognize any communities, and criticized former President Nicolas Sarkozy for creating an organization to represent Islam. She also said she would ban an Islamic organization in France linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that mosques attended by Turks could be used to spy on France…”

More than 200 people from Germany fighting with Kurdish forces against ‘IS’ (DW, Apr 10, 2017)
http://www.dw.com/en/more-than-200-people-from-germany-fighting-with-kurdish-forces-against-is/a-38371055
“Germans have been supporting Kurdish militias on the ground in their fight against IS. The opposition politician who requested the official numbers has blasted the government for how it has treated these fighters.
More than 200 people have traveled from Germany to fight alongside Kurdish militias battling the so-called “Islamic State” in Iraq and Syria since 2013, Germany’s interior ministry said on Monday.
Sixty-nine of the 204 fighters are German nationals, the ministry said in a written response to a query from Left Party parliamentarian Ulla Jelpke.
The official data does not cover those who traveled from Germany to join the peshmerga, the armed forces of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region.
The German government warns against travel to Iraq and Syria, but does not generally prosecute those fighting with Kurdish militias against IS or consider them a security threat, “as opposed to those who return from areas under the control of the Islamists in Syria/Iraq,” the ministry said.
Of those who went to fight alongside Kurdish militias 102 have returned, including 43 German citizens. Many of those who fight alongside Kurdish militias are nationals of Turkey.
Left Party politician praises fighters
In a number of cases, those who returned were briefly monitored by security services on suspicion of ties to a terror organization. Left Party politician Jelpke blasted attempts to criminalize the volunteer fighters.
“When young people from Germany in full knowledge of the danger take it upon themselves to participate in the fight against the ‘Islamic State’ in Syria, then I have the greatest respect for that decision,” Jelpke said in a statement…”

An Israeli army statement said earlier in the day that the projectile landed in the Eshkol regional council.
“No injuries have been reported,” the statement added.
Prior to the attack, Israel closed its Taba border crossing with Egypt on Monday over a warning by its anti-terrorism office of an “imminent” militant attack against tourists in Sinai.
On Sunday, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for a pair of church suicide bombings during Palm Sunday ceremonies in Tanta and Alexandria.
The two attacks killed 45 people.
Israel urged its citizens visiting Sinai to return home shortly after the attacks.

“Denouncing the ongoing violence in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has said it is in full agreement with Islamabad over the peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.
The statement came as four more Kashmiri youths were killed and 200 injured in clashes with Indian forces on Monday, bringing the number of recent deaths in the occupied territory to 12. daily mail – Australia – Violence in a place of prayer: Muslim men throw punches and abuse each other as wild brawl erupts inside a Melbourne mosque
Muslim supporters have been involved in a wild brawl in a Melbourne mosque
Video emerged of the moment tensions between the two groups spilled over
After two men began trading blows, a swarm of men got involved in the brawl
Dozens of Muslim men have become involved in a mass brawl inside a Melbourne mosque, after reportedly airing their opposing beliefs.
Video has emerged of the moment tensions between the two groups of supporters spilled over inside the large mosque on Sunday, leading to the physical fight.
Footage captured the moment two men began fighting, before dozens of others ran in towards them and a large scuffle erupted.
Only moments later one appears to push the other, before a punch is thrown and the enormous brawl breaks out.
With the two men who initially came to blows grappling at each other, large numbers more soon join in the altercation.
Within seconds a swarm of men are moving quickly towards the video camera, with a number of punches and even kicks being traded.
Shouting inaudibly as the brawl unfolds, blows continue to be thrown for up to 30 seconds before the group is separated.
The men of varying ages continue to yell insults at each other, as one man in a white robe attempts to quell the argument by keeping the groups separate.
However not long after the two opposition groups were separated do tensions again hit a high, with one agitated man in particular attempting to reignite the fight.
More men emerge from inside the mosque preaching peace and aiding to keep the two groups separate.
Eventually, the video ends with the two groups appearing calm and kept separate.

When the West finally learns to step aside whenever IIFs (Islamic Intramural Festivities) take place, much more progress will be made.
For instance, Syria? While the entire natural gas pipeline dominates this conflict’s horizon, imagine if Western powers simply “slowly backed away from the vehicle” and, instead, focused all of their energy on ensuring that Putin’s Russia kept it’s effing snout out of the fray. Sanctions and economic restrictions against Russia could do a lot more to discourage its interference than this current mare’s nest of difficult-to-interpret taurine fecal matter.
Then, everyone could sit back—munch buttered popcorn—and watch the Muslim death tolls rack up. Please do not take this as an acceptance of ongoing genocides against Egyptian Copts, Lebanese Maronites, and so forth. Western nations must evacuate them to (if anything) clear the “playing field”.
Napoleon once said, “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
As it has from nearly its original inception—Islam continues to make a continuous string of dire mistakes. Please let us in the West figure out how to ensure that Islam’s endless opportunities for making even more and far worse mistakes are both unimpeded and given every chance to succeed.
It’s the very least that we can do for ourselves.
