  1. SYRIA Obama waives restrictions on military support to foreign forces ‘to combat terrorism in Syria’

The waiver will allow exceptions from provisions in the four-decades-old Arms Export Control Act.

The White House on Thursday (8 December) announced a new waiver order by President Barack Obama that would lift restrictions on military support for foreign forces and others in Syria if considered “essential to the national security interests of the United States”.

The changes, which would allow “foreign forces, irregular forces, groups, or individuals” fighting for the interests of the US to be able to access military assistance, were pursuant to the four-decades-old Arms Export Control Act.

“I hereby determine that the transaction, encompassing the provision of defense articles and services to foreign forces, irregular forces, groups, or individuals engaged in supporting or facilitating ongoing US military operations to counter terrorism in Syria, is essential to the national security interests of the United States,” Obama stated in the presidential determination.

According to the document, responsibility for the same will be delegated to the US secretary of state to work with and report to Congress on weapons export proposals. It would require 15 days of notice before they are authorized.

This is not the first time that the president has made amendments to the Arms Export Control Act in regards to Syria. A similar determination was announced in September 2013 following the Ghouta chemical attack in August of the same year. The waiver allowed for distribution of US military weaponry to “select vetted members” of opposition forces fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

However, in comparison to the one in 2013, the recent order has a broader scope and could be interpreted in multiple ways based on what group the US identifies as a terrorist threat.

RT -Fuel to the fire: Obama grants waiver for arms supply to US-backed fighters in Syria

US President Barack Obama has ordered a waiver for restrictions on military aid for foreign forces and other fighters supporting the US in Syria, deeming it ‘essential to the national security interests’ of the US to allow exceptions from provisions in the Arms Export Control Act.

    • Remember ISIS used poison gas in Syria, then Obama blamed Assad for the attack and came in on the side of the rebels who are with the exception of the Kurds and the non Moslem groups Sunni militias fighting to determine who is going to be the Caliph of the new Sunni controlled Caliphate that they are fighting to create. All of the Sunni militias are controlled by members of the Moslem Brotherhood who only back fundamentalist Islamic groups.

    • US sending 200 more troops to Syria to battle ISIS

MANAMA, Bahrain — U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Saturday that as many as 200 more American troops are being sent to Syria to help Kurdish and Arab fighters capture the Islamic State group’s key stronghold of Raqqa.

The extra troops will include special operations forces and are in addition to 300 U.S. troops already authorized for the effort to recruit, organize, train and advise local Syrian forces to combat IS.

Addressing a security conference in Bahrain, Carter also took gentle jabs at U.S. Middle East partners for failing to provide more military muscle in the broader campaign to defeat IS and counter extremism.

Without mentioning any by name, Carter suggested the U.S. has been the target of disingenuous criticism from “regional powers here in the Middle East” for not doing more to help fight extremism.

“I would ask you to imagine what U.S. military and defense leaders think when they have to listen to complaints sometimes that we should do more, when it’s plain to see that all too often, the ones complaining aren’t doing enough themselves,” he said.

He said it is not unreasonable for Washington to expect regional powers who oppose extremism in the Middle East to do more to help fight it, “particularly in the political and economic aspects of the campaign.”

Carter noted that many Sunni-led Gulf countries have expressed concern about the spread of Iranian influence in the region.

“The fact is, if countries in the region are worried about Iran’s destabilizing activities – a concern the United States shares – they need to get in the game. That means getting serious about starting to partner more with each other, and investing in the right capabilities for the threat.”

Carter said the 200 extra troops going to Syria will help local forces in their anticipated push to retake Raqqa, the de facto capital of the extremist group’s self-styled caliphate, and to deny sanctuary to IS after Raqqa is captured.

        • Not “stealth”, just de facto. The only difference being that 0bama’s long-term preacher, Jeremiah GODDAMN AMERICA Wright (and 0bama’s other terrorist associates), all represent more than just an easily nuked overseas Muslim conspiracy.

          • I will accept your correction and agree you can’t nuke them, and realy you can’t send assassination teams after them until they start a major civil war. Even then you are taking a chance, killing them will probaby create martyrs rather then making them look bad. Of course arresting, trying and executing them would do the same.

  2. Barack Obama reveals he suffered racism from ‘whites in the south’ as President (express, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/741979/barack-obama-suffered-racism-during-presidency

“BARACK OBAMA has spoken of the racism he faced during his time in office from “whites in Southern states”.

The outgoing US President said criticism he faced in the south was a direct result of his skin colour.

Speaking during an interview with CNN, he said people in the region saw him as “foreign” before arguing the concept of race in America was not about “genetics”.

“I think there’s a reason why attitudes about my presidency among whites in Northern states are very different from whites in Southern states,” he said.

“Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign, the other? Are those who champion the ‘birther’ movement feeding off of bias? Absolutely.”

Mr Obama said the idea of race was “cultural” before hailing the “oppressed” for fostering “patriotism”.

Speaking about his mixed heritage, he said: “The concept of race in America is not just genetic – otherwise the ‘one drop rule’ wouldn’t have made sense – it’s cultural.

“This notion of a people who look different from the mainstream, suffering terrible oppression but somehow being able to make out of that a music and a language and a faith and a patriotism.”

A former senior advisor to the President, David Axelrod said there was a “lack of respect” towards the US leader because of his race.

Speaking during the Legacy of Barack Obama CNN special, he recalled the moment a powerful Republican had told Barack Obama: “You know, we don’t really think you should be here, but the American people thought otherwise so we’re going to have to work with you.”

He added: “It’s indisputable that there was a ferocity to the opposition and a lack of respect to him that was a function of race.”

The comments come after President-elect Donald Trump questioned Mr Obama’s place of birth and suggested his birth certificate is a fake during his election campaign.

However, Mr Trump shifted his position in recent months, saying: “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now, we all want to get back to making America strong and great again.””

    • Opposition to Obama was based on his politics and not his race, but he and the Dems doesn’t want anyone to think that, he also thinks that everyone out here is stupid enough to believe him. He and the Dems are taking a long time to realize that they played the race card way to many times and that it doens’t have much if any power anymore. Of course given past performance it will take several more elections before they realize their attacks aren’t having any effect on the elections.

      • Opposition to Obama was based on his politics and not his race…

You say, “politics”. I say, “competency”. The word, “corruption”, belongs in there somewhere as well. See: Obama energy official has ties to firms that stand to benefit: A top Obama administration official who’s helping lead a campaign for energy conservation has a major financial interest in two companies that are poised to benefit from the government’s spending.

It is quite possible that 0bama’s single greatest achievement was to forever kill the Race Card‘s uncanny ability to trump otherwise rational discussions.

        • He has proven to be very competent at his main goal which is damaging the US and destroying it if possible. The corruption goes without saying because he comes from the Chicago Democrat Machine. And anywhere there are people in power trying to destroy the US and make money conspiracy occurs.

        • If Obama’s actions were caused by incompetence he would have screwed up and done something right every now and then. Outside of over playing the race card he hasn’t done one thing that will help the US.

  3. Psychology professor launches BIZARRE RANT claiming Trump win was an ‘ACT OF TERRORISM’ (express, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/741931/US-professor-bizarre-rant-Donald-Trump-election-victory-act-of-terrorism

“AN American psychology professor has come under fire after ranting to her students that Donald Trump’s US election win was an “act of terrorism”.

A damning video, filmed by a student of professor Olga Perez Stable Cox, shows the tutor claiming that the Republican President-elect is a “white supremacist” and Vice President-elect Mike Pence is “one of the most anti-gay humans in this country”.

During a class on human sexuality, the professor went startlingly off-topic, warning her students, at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, that Trump’s terrorist supporters were among them.

She said: “Our nation is divided. We have been assaulted. It’s an act of terrorism.

“One of the most frightening things for me and most of the people in my life is that the people creating the assault are among us.”

The barmy video was secretly filmed by one of the professor’s students and came to light this week when it was posted on the college’s Republican Facebook group…”

  4. Oil Cartel Seeks Output Cutbacks by Non-Member Countries (abcnews, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/oil-cartel-seeks-output-cutbacks-member-countries-44105373

“OPEC member states are meeting with Russia and other non-OPEC countries in Vienna for talks about a reduction in oil production.

Secretary General Mohammed Barkindo said the discussions began Saturday in a “positive atmosphere” at the headquarters of the oil producers’ cartel.

OPEC agreed on Nov. 30 to cut 1.2 million barrels in daily production by its own members in an attempt to raise oil prices.

Now it is hoping for another 600,000 barrels to be cut by countries outside the group.

Barkindo expressed optimism about getting agreement on the 600,000 “or even more maybe.”

Much of that is expected to come from major producer Russia, which Barkindo said was co-chairing the meeting.

Crude prices have risen since the OPEC agreement was announced, with U.S. crude up 1.3 percent on Friday at $51.48 a barrel, 6 percent higher than before the OPEC announcement.

That’s despite doubts about how much impact any OPEC-led cutback will have due to weak demand from the global economy and a tendency by some members to produce more than agreed.”

    • Russia will agree to cut production because it needs money but I doubt if the prices will raise much higher in the US, we are energy self sufficient now and the major oil producers in the US are smart enough to not let the prices raise too much. If it raises a lot they will be accused of price gouging and have problems in Congress. Also with the high prices they will be tempted to increase production to make as much as they can before prices fall because the OPEC agreement falls apart.

Speaking after an extraordinary cabinet meeting, Cazeneuve said Saturday that Parliament will vote on the bill next week.

The troop increase will bring the total number of U.S. troops in Syria to 500.

  7. New law to FORCE migrants to respect local culture passed in Bavaria to take on Sharia law (express, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/741927/Merkel-party-christian-social-union-Bavaria-law-force-migrants-respect-local-culture

“ANGELA Merkel’s opposing party has passed a law which requires all migrants to respect the “dominant” local culture.

The socially conservative Christian Social Union (CSU) party in Germany’s Bavaria said an integration law was necessary for the town to cope with the influx of asylum-seekers under the Chancellor’s “open-door” refugee policy.

Emilia Müller, the Bavarian social security minister, told MPs voting on whether to pass the law, insisted it is necessary to protect the Bavarian culture.

She said: “It prevents the emergence of parallel societies governed by Sharia, religious codes or tribal customs, instead of our laws and values.”

Although opposition MPs largely agreed with clauses within the law which set out plans to supply schools with extra funding and grant German language classes for immigrants, attempts were made to block it.

Ministers from the Social Democratic Party argued the law made no attempt to define the Bavarian “dominant culture” beyond a statement which read,“all of Bavaria is shaped by homegrown customs, traditions and practices”.

They went on to say the bill made no attempt to make it clear if immigrants were required to treat beer festivals with the same respect as the equality of men and women.

Markus Rinderspacher, leader of the opposition Social Democratic Party said: “We do not need a guiding culture in this integration law because all this is already covered in the Bavarian constitution.”

Lisa Schnell, a correspondent for the German newspaper added: “It is not surprising the CSU has been unable to define the ‘dominant culture’ convincingly.

“For there is no uniform culture, there cannot be in a free society.

“A punk lives in a different culture from a refugee, someone on unemployment benefit in a different culture from a university professor.”

Despite criticism, the new law was passed by 95 votes to 47 after a 16-hour debate, but will only apply in Bavaria and not the country’s 15 other states.”

    • I can see why they tried this but I can’t see it working, the alt left will work to get court decisions that cut the heart out of the law and given what the German Judges have been doing they will probably succeed.

  8. About-face: Obama orders ‘deep dive’ on Russian hacking scare – and CIA says it’s about Trump
    By J.E. Dyer December 10, 2016

he most important thing to know about the Friday evening news theme – that Obama wants this Russians-and-the-election thing reviewed – is that it’s based on nothing more than what we’ve already known for weeks.

In that regard, in fact, the Obama administration has done an about-face. The administration had exactly the same information in late November, when it said “we stand behind our election results, which accurately reflect the will of the American people.” At the time, the White House acknowledged concerns that Russia had tried to launch cyber-attacks on the election, but it suggested the goal was to “raise questions about the integrity of the election process.”

On Friday, the Washington Post published a lengthy article on a CIA briefing given to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, which makes it sound as if there’s something new behind the decision announced by the White House on 9 December.

But the only thing new is the headline that a “Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House.”

This would be the first we’ve heard of that particular conclusion, by that particular agency.

But when you read through the whole story, it turns out that it’s not based on anything that hasn’t been reported before.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/12/10/face-obama-orders-deep-dive-russian-hacking-scare-cia-says-trump/

    • What she is saying is that there is no new evidence to change any conclusion by anyone on what happened or what the intentions of who the hackers were or what their intentions were.

She does point out that the CIA has no jurisdiction to do any investigations inside the US and if they have some CIA personnel needs to be prosecuted.

Then she points out that with no new evidence any review that is ordered by Obama is being done for political purposes, i.e. to try and delegitimize the Trump administration.

Finally my conclusion on this “review” and the report is that Obama is throwing mud trying to damage Trump and the Washington Post is once again publishing FAKE NEWS.

    • Harry Reid: Comey Should Resign

In the wake of a “soul-crushing” report on Russia’s meddling in the presidential election, Sen. Harry Reid has called for FBI Director James Comey to resign for allegedly withholding information on President-elect Donald Trump’s ties to Russia. Reid, who was a fierce opponent of Comey’s handling of Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, which many believe cost her the election, told MSNBC on Saturday that he believes the FBI knew all along that Russia was helping Trump and deliberately did nothing about it. “This is not fake news. Intelligence officials are hiding connections to the Russian government. There is no question,” Reid said. “Comey knew and deliberately kept this info a secret,” he said. Asked whether he believes Comey should step down over the matter, Reid replied, “Of course, yes.” A report released late Friday concluded that Russia interfered with the election to help Trump win, a fact which staffers for Hillary Clinton said was “soul-crushing.” The report has triggered calls for further investigation, with incoming Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer on Saturday calling for a congressional probe.

      http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2016/12/10/harry-reid-comey-should-resign.html

Schumer calls for Senate probe into Russian interference

Incoming Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Saturday called for a congressional investigation into reports of Russian meddling in the U.S. election in order to elect Donald Trump.

“Reports of the CIA’s conclusion that Russia actively sought to help elect Donald Trump are simultaneously stunning and not surprising, given Russia’s disdain for democracy and admiration for autocracy,” Schumer said in a statement.

“That any country could be meddling in our elections should shake both political parties to their core,” he added. “Senate Democrats will join with our Republican colleagues next year to demand a congressional investigation and hearings to get to the bottom of this.”

Some GOP lawmakers, led by Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.), are planning hearings and investigations into Russian meddling in the election, but Trump has downplayed and even denied the country’s interference.

The Washington Post report on the CIA assessment revealed that GOP leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), effectively buried the intelligence agency’s findings by refusing to sign off on a bipartisan agreement to speak out against Russia, citing concerns about the accuracy of the assessment.

“It’s imperative that our intelligence community turns over any relevant information so that Congress can conduct a full investigation,” Schumer said in his statement Saturday.

If, I repeat If he has the information he claims it should be presented to the House who could then hold hearings and vote on a bill of impeachment, then the Senate would hold a trail and either say he can’t be sworn in or that the info is lies and he is sworn in.

  9. Hmm: Facebook stats used to tout ‘fake news’ problem turn out to be erroneous
    By J.E. Dyer December 9, 2016

“Fake news” seems to be the new “climate consensus.”

“Fake news” basically means whatever you need it to mean, for the purpose of a given debate. (It rarely refers to actual “fake news,” as in “totally made up stuff that never happened that is being reported as if it did.”)

“Fake news” is a rallying standard for people to range themselves on the right side of, if they know what’s good for them. If you’re in the “in” group, you think all the approved things about fake news. You blame it for all the bad things that you, as a member of the “in” group, don’t like.

Nothing can disprove “fake news.” No matter what happens, no matter how counterintuitive events are for the “fake news” cult belief, it all just proves that fake news is bigger, more pervasive, more powerful, and more worser than we thought.

And sure enough, the methodology and data of “fake news” fall apart at the lightest touch. Any day now, there’s going to be a fake news hockey-stick graph. That’s the kind of thing “fake news” is.

As if on cue, a social-media-savvy data sleuth, Tim Peterson, has unearthed an inconvenient fact that undercuts the fake-news narrative.

  10. The town where even immigrants are fed up with migration: Failing schools, filthy streets and benefit fraud… (dailymail, dec 10, 2016)
    http://dailym.ai/2hwPWvI

“We have heard it said so often that it has virtually acquired Biblical status. The reason that 17.4 million British people voted to leave the European Union, so it is written in The Book Of Remain, is that they were ill-informed and hoodwinked by a gang of political shysters with a bogus pledge about NHS funding on the side of a bus.

However, it’s a safe bet that those who proclaim this to be the gospel truth will never have walked through Page Hall — the area of Sheffield singled out in a landmark Government report this week — let alone lived anywhere like it.

After a few hours spent here, your average Islingtonian or Hampsteadite might think a little differently.

Because here they would find a group of people who aren’t bothered about what Nigel Farage has to say or give two hoots about the details of Article 50. Their only complaint about Brexit is that it will come too late.

Ask them why and they have countless reasons. For a start, they will point to the soiled mattress on the corner of Lloyd Street, or the abandoned sofa (with half-eaten portion of chips sitting on it) on Robey Street, or the doorless fridge blocking the pavement on Popple Street, not to mention the quite staggering volumes of filth and detritus in between.

An area where several cultures had rubbed along happily enough for decades has become, quite literally, a rubbish-strewn dump ever since a sudden influx of thousands of arrivals from mainland Europe.

Most are Roma migrants from Slovakia, attracted by the prospect of a better life thanks to Britain’s generous welfare benefits, free health treatment, housing and schools. The residents will also talk about the local schools trying to cope with a 15-fold increase in non-English-speaking children and about the groups of foreigners who hang around on street corners for hours shouting and spitting…”

  11. Migrant housing crisis – Home Office to spend millions as 750 Calais children come to UK (express, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/741523/asylum-seekers-home-office-housing-britain-uk-immigrants-refugees

“BRITAIN granted asylum to more than 750 children from the Calais Jungle camp and plans to house record numbers of migrants, the Home Office has revealed.

In the past two months, more than 750 children from the notorious camp have been granted asylum in Britain, sparking concerns for how councils will care for them.

The Home Office said many of the youngsters have been reunited with family members in the UK.

Ministers launched efforts to fast-track the resettlement of minors in October as the site in Calais was demolished.

The Home Office said “legal transfers” of youngsters with family ties to the UK have come to an end, but more children may come as lone refugees.

Unaccompanied children have been brought to Britain either under the Dublin Regulation because they have family links in this country, or under the Dubs amendment that requires the Government to give refuge to youngsters stranded in Europe.

Immigration Minister Robert Goodwill said: “We have been working with the French authorities to bring children eligible to come here under the Dublin Regulation or the Immigration Act since the clearance of the Calais camp in October.

“More than 750 children have arrived so far. Many have been reunited with family members already in the UK, while others are being cared for by local authorities across the UK.

“The remaining children are safe and in the care of the French authorities.

“The Dubs process has not ended.

“More eligible children will be transferred from Europe, in line with the terms of the Immigration Act, in the coming months and we will continue to meet our obligations under the Dublin Regulation.”

The Home Office said the current phase of transfers is being concluded as part of a planned process carried out in conjunction with French authorities.

All the children who were transferred from the camp to children centres in France have been interviewed by UK officials.

Those transferred to the UK include all Dublin cases where the family relationship has been verified. A total number for Dubs and Dublin transfers as a result of the operation will be published once it is fully concluded.

It comes as the Home Office said it is making plans to house record numbers of asylum seekers.

The Home Office has ordered accommodation providers to improve and increase their stock to meet an increase in demand.

Ministers want those who arrive in the UK, many illegally, put up in “suitable properties” while their claims are processed.

The move could see Britain’s asylum bill, currently costing taxpayers £546.8million a year – or £1.5million a day – rocket…”

In his first newspaper interview in his job, the anti-Brussels politician also accused diehard Remain campaigners of deliberately trying to undermine business confidence in their plot to overturn the EU referendum result.

He told embittered opponents of Brexit should “shut up” before their moaning wrecks Britain’s economy,

In the far-ranging interview he also vowed a resurgent Ukip under his leadership will target MPs who have defied the wishes of their voters over Brexit, seeking to turf them out of the Commons.

The group numbered 14 on arrival at Dusseldorf airport on a flight from Istanbul yesterday, but police determined during checks that they were not going to a tournament and suspected one of their number was a people smuggler.

“Two voluntarily flew back to Turkey,” a spokesman for the German federal police said, adding that the suspected smuggler, who was Turkish, had been detained by police.

The remaining 11, compromising 10 adults and one child, had been taken to a reception centre for asylum seekers. The police spokesman could not say on what grounds they sought asylum…”

  16. Mexican Cartel Manufactured Grenades in Texas, Say Police

McALLEN, Texas — Federal authorities have arrested five Texas men and one Mexican national for their alleged roles in the manufacturing of grenades destined for Mexican drug cartels.

On Tuesday, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 40-year-old Pedro Vega, 24-year-old Alfredo Rivera, 23-year-old Celin Javier Montoya, 20-year-old Anthony Ozuna, and 19-year-old Noe Gonzalez, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed. Authorities also arrested 19-year-old Jonathan Sanchez Torres, a 19-year-old illegal alien from Mexico.

The arrests come after an undercover investigation where BATFE and HSI agents posed as buyers for dozens of homemade grenades. The explosives were made after the group allegedly spent six months purchasing various items to complete the order from local stores and online merchants, information from the DOJ revealed. The items reportedly purchased included grenade hulls, spring kits, fuses, and black powder.

  17. Black Lawyer Calls on Black Jurors to Vote ‘Innocent’ for Any Black Person Accused of Murdering a White Person

An African-American lawyer and editor of a popular legal website is calling on all black jurors across the country to automatically vote to free any black person accused of murdering or committing a crime against a white person despite the evidence.

Elie Mystal, an editor and contributor to the law blog Above The Law, posted a December 7 article urging all black Americans who end up on juries to engage in “jury nullification” by automatically voting to acquit all blacks accused of crimes, especially that of murder, against white victims and to do so no matter how much evidence is brought to bear against the suspect.

Mystal justified this lawlessness by claiming that “African-Americans live in a world where the police can murder us and get away with it.”

  18. U.S. Workplace English Rules Discriminatory, Foreign Language Demands Aren’t

Requiring employees in the United States to speak a foreign language is not discriminatory but forcing them to speak English violates federal law under a sweeping order issued by the Obama administration to crack down on “national origin discrimination” in the workplace. The government’s new enforcement guidelines state that bilingual requirements don’t meet discrimination claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act but English-only rules do because they’re restrictive language policies.

The administration asserts that the new rules, which cover a broad range of scenarios that could get employers in trouble, were created because the American workforce is “increasingly ethnically diverse.” The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency that enforces the nation’s workplace discrimination laws, made them public a few days ago. “The increased cultural diversity of today’s workplaces presents new and evolving issues with respect to Title VII’s protection against national origin discrimination,” the agency writes in the lengthy document. “This enforcement guidance will assist EEOC staff in their investigation of national origin discrimination charges and provide information for applicants, employees, and employers to understand their respective rights and responsibilities under Title VII.”

Two years ago, the administration laid the foundation for the new measures by suing a private American business for discriminating against Hispanic and Asian employees because they didn’t speak English on the job. The case involved a Green Bay Wisconsin metal and plastic manufacturer that fired a group of Hmong and Hispanic workers over their English skills. Forcing employees to speak English in the U.S. violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the EEOC claimed in its lawsuit. That’s because the Civil Rights Act protects employees from discrimination based on national origin, which includes the linguistic characteristics of a national origin group. Therefore, the EEOC argued, foreigners have the right to speak their native language even during work hours at an American company that requires English.

    • What rubbish! In order to obtain a business license, it should be required that a majority owner will be on the establishment’s premises more than half the operating hours (excepting 24 hour operations). This English-optional crap only encourages non-assimilation. Hell, where I live the driver’s license test is available in SEVENTEEN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. Gah!!!

Last time I checked, all the street signs were in English. People who are injured in vehicular accidents caused by an individual that cannot speak English should have legal recourse against the government.

As it is, I get pissed off going to an ethnic food store that only prints their weekly special flyer in a foreign language. You want to do business in my city? Effing make sure the English-speaking population can get in on the sale prices.

      • Bloody hell! That should have read:

…it should be required that a FLUENT ENGLISH-SPEAKING majority owner will be on the establishment’s premises…

What happens in an emergency if an employee or customer needs immediate medical response? Who’s going to explain things to the 911 dispatcher?
        Double GAH!!!

        • You got it, the last time we had a mess like this was in the 1920s and the immigrants were all wanting to learn English and assimilate. Now we have large groups of people who want to force us to assimilate into their culture.

  19. Court blocks New York City from discarding illegal immigrants’ data

A New York state court on Tuesday temporarily stopped New York City from destroying the personal records of hundreds of thousands of municipal I.D. card holders after Republicans argued the records might be needed to track criminals.

Seeking to protect illegal immigrants who fear deportation under a President-elect Donald Trump administration, city officials had been considering destroying the information and said on Tuesday they would stop collecting it starting next month.

Two Republican state lawmakers sued the city on Monday to block any plans to discard the records collected so far, saying they could be needed to investigate individuals who obtained the cards under false pretenses.

  20. Germany: Thousands denounce mass deportation of Afghan refugees in Berlin

Around 1,000 protesters took to the streets of Berlin, Saturday, to demonstrate against the Kabul-Berlin deal on the mass deportation of Afghani refugees.

The protesters rallied at Turmstrasse metro station and then proceeded towards Brandenburger Tor. The demonstrators chanted “Stop deportation” and held banners reading “Afghanistan is not safe – no deportations to Afghanistan.”

SOT, Rahimi Mortaza, World Hazara Council (WHC) (German): “We don’t want to be deported to Afghanistan, the war-torn country. The Federal Republic [of Germany] has considered Afghanistan to be a safe country for a long time. No people are safe there. We know that. The Federal Republic [of Germany] knows that too. I do not know why the Federal Republic [of Germany] would want to do that. We say always that deportation is murder, and that follows if you are deported to Afghanistan.”

Hundreds rallied at Frankfurt Airport, Saturday, to demonstrate against the Kabul-Berlin deal on the mass deportation of Afghani refugees.

The demonstrators held banners reading “Afghanistan is not safe” and “Right to stay for all.”

Afghanistan signed a joint declaration with Germany in October, which enables Germany to deport rejected asylum-seekers back to Afghanistan.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere argued that the agreement would facilitate the acceptance of Afghan asylum-seekers in Germany.

NEW YORK – Harvard law professor and progressive activist Larry Lessig has announced that he is teaming up with a California-based law firm to offer “free and confidential” legal services to any members of the Electoral College who will vote against President-elect Donald Trump in violation of state law.

Lessig, a one-time presidential candidate, has served on the boards of numerous groups financed by billionaire George Soros.

Lessig’s Electoral College scheme, which is being called the Electors Trust, is a last-ditch effort to stop Trump from becoming president.

  23. The Guilty Verdict Dutch Politicians Wanted So Much
Left Wing Politicians Who Insulted Moroccans Worse, Not Prosecuted

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9533/the-guilty-verdict-dutch-politicians-wanted-so

The trial of Geert Wilders has resulted in a guilty verdict. The court – which was located in a maximum security courthouse in the Netherlands near Schipol airport – found the leader of the PVV (Freedom Party) guilty of ‘insulting a group’ and of ‘inciting discrimination’. The trial began with a number of complaints, but the proceedings gradually honed down onto one single comment made by Wilders at a party rally in March 2014. This was the occasion when Wilders asked the crowd whether they wanted ‘fewer or more Moroccans in your city and in the Netherlands’. The crowd of supporters shouted ‘Fewer’.

On Friday morning the court decided not to impose a jail sentence or a fine, as prosecutors had requested. The intention of the court is clearly that the ‘guilty’ sentence should be enough.

Around 25 victims have now reported symptoms linked to a chlorine attack, including difficulty breathing and a feeling of suffocation.

A spokesman for the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organisations said the attack constituted a war crime.

He said: “Targeting civilians and medical facilities with chemical weapons is a war crime.

“We echo the sentiments of the UN General Assembly, where 122 countries demanded the immediate and complete end to all attacks on civilians, civilian objects, to all sieges throughout the country and to allow unconditional humanitarian access to those in need.

“We ask the Organisation for the Prohibition Of Chemical Weapons to fulfil it’s mandate and launch an immediate investigation into this attack and hold perpetrators responsible for these grievous violations to international law.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/10/world/europe/turkey-kurdish-mayors-expect-arrests.html

“Turkey’s crackdown on Kurdish politicians, officials, news outlets, schools, municipalities, think tanks and even charities has been so thoroughgoing that it has left those who remain free expecting arrest at any moment. “My bag is packed for prison,” said Feleknas Uca, an H.D.P. member of Parliament. “Everybody has a bag in their house for prison. Now, everyone can be arrested at any moment.”

The crackdown on Kurds is part of a broader assault by the government on Turkey’s democratic freedoms after a failed coup in July, even though hard-line Islamists, followers of the cleric Fethullah Gulen, who are rabidly anti-Kurdish and hardly democratic paragons themselves, are accused of the overthrow attempt.

This year more than 150 newspapers and other media outlets have been shuttered and about 120 journalists jailed in pretrial detention without court hearings. Some 40,000 people have been imprisoned, and more than 100,000 have been dismissed from their jobs on suspicion of sympathizing with the Gulenists.

In many cases, the only evidence against them was a messaging app, similar to WhatsApp, on their phones that supposedly served as a secret Gulenist communication system. In other cases, just having a Gulen book at home was used as evidence for dismissal or arrest.

Critics called it a witch hunt of medieval proportions…”

  30. Algeria Expels Migrants to Nigeria in Deplorable Conditions: RFI (moroccoworldnews, Dec 10, 2016)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2016/12/203491/algeria-expels-migrants-nigeria-deplorable-conditions-rfi/

“Hundreds of sub-Saharan migrants and refugees have been sent to a camp in Tamanrasset in the process of being expelled from Algeria.

Accounts from the site suggest they are being held in deplorable conditions.

Algeria has recently begun deporting hundreds of sub-Saharan migrants and refugees towards Nigeria, going against the 1951 Refugee Convention as well as the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families, both of which protect the rights of migrants and refugees.

A camp in Tamanrasset, in the south of Algeria, currently houses several hundred migrants and refugees. Personal accounts from the camp site shared with RFI Afrique indicate inhumane treatment of the deportees.

According to RFI, the people being held in the Tamanrasset camp were fed very poorly: One meal a day — “rice with two bottles of milk for 25 people. No milk.”

“The police won’t let us outside. If we go out, they beat us. They’re treating us like dogs,” one migrant tells RFI.

Authorities, says the same source, later let migrants and refugees leave as of December 8, while others were put in vehicles headed to Nigeria. “I’m going to spend the night outside and sell my phone to by a bus ticket [back to Alger]” one person told RFI.

Sources close to the case added that Nigeria itself hadn’t agreed to receiving the migrants but to serve as a transit zone.

Controversy surrounding Algeria’s expulsion of hundreds of migrants and refugees has made the rounds this week. On Friday, December 9, the Human Rights Watch issued a report demanding that Algeria halt the deportations and respect the 1951 Refugee Convention.”

  31. PM Y?ld?r?m calls for support of Turkey to fight terrorism (hurriyetdailynews, Dec 10, 2016)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/pm-yildirim-calls-for-support-of-turkey-to-fight-terrorism.aspx?pageID=238&nID=107138&NewsCatID=510

“Prime Minister Binali Y?ld?r?m has said support to Turkey in its fight against terrorist organizations would contribute to the global fight against terror.

The premier said “support to Turkey will contribute to all counterterrorism efforts,”naming the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) as the main terrorist groups that Turkey has to fight simultaneously.

Speaking on Dec. 10 at a joint news conference with his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Ankara, Y?ld?r?m said: “Turkey and Denmark hold the same opinion that there is more need today than yesterday for an international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.”

He also praised the “ongoing positive cooperation against terrorism” and said it was a nice step that the independent courts of Denmark suspended the PKK-linked Roj TV’s broadcasting license back in February 2014.

Denmark’s Court of Appeal found ROJ TV and its parent company guilty of terrorism and ruled to have broadcasts cease.

The two leaders also discussed migrant crisis, Syria, Turkey’s EU bid and relations with Russia.
“We are united in our fight against ISIL,” the Danish PM added.

Rasmussen said he would visit Danish soldiers, who are deployed at the ?ncirlik air base in the southern province of Adana to help fight ISIL.”

  32. zero hedge -USA – Senate Quietly Passes The “Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act”

[…]a bill that further chips away at press liberties in the US, and which sets the stage for future which hunts and website shutdowns, purely as a result of an accusation that any one media outlet or site is considered as a source of “disinformation and propaganda” and is shut down by the government. […]

U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) today announced that their Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act – legislation designed to help American allies counter foreign government propaganda from Russia, China, and other nations – has passed the Senate as part of the FY 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report. The bipartisan bill, which was introduced by Senators Portman and Murphy in March, will improve the ability of the United States to counter foreign propaganda and disinformation by establishing an interagency center housed at the State Department to coordinate and synchronize counter-propaganda efforts throughout the U.S. government. To support these efforts, the bill also creates a grant program for NGOs, think tanks, civil society and other experts outside government who are engaged in counter-propaganda related work. This will better leverage existing expertise and empower local communities to defend themselves from foreign manipulation.[…]

[…]In other words, the Act will i) greenlight the government to crack down with impunity against any media property it deems “propaganda”, and ii) provide substantial amounts of money fund an army of “local journalist” counterpropaganda, to make sure the government’s own fake news drowns that of the still free “fringes.”

So while packaged politely in a veneer of “countering disinformation and propaganda”, the bill, once signed by Obama, will effectively give the government a full mandate to punish, shut down or otherwise prosecute, any website it deems offensive and a source of “foreign government propaganda from Russia, China or other nations.” And since there is no formal way of proving whether or not there is indeed a foreign propaganda sponsor, all that will be sufficient to eliminate any “dissenting” website, will be the government’s word against that of the website. One can be confident that the US government will almost certainly prevail in every single time.

“MORE than 200 undercover SAS soldiers will be deployed in shopping centres and high streets across Britain following fresh intelligence of a terror attack planned for Christmas.

SAS commanders have cancelled all leave, sources said last night, as the regiment’s soldiers join police in the largest counter-terror surveillance operation in recent years.

It comes as Home Office officials respond to the latest intelligence warning from the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, part of MI5, of a major attack by Islamic State extremists on mainland Britain.
