BREITBART – New UN Boss Tells Europe Migration Unstoppable, Says Politicians Should Ignore Voters
The incoming Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) told a room of policymakers in Europe on Wednesday that “migration is not the problem but the solution”, and said politicians should ignore voters.
Speaking in Lisbon at the Vision Europe Summit, António Guterres said European nations have no right to control their borders and that they must instead take in floods of the world’s poorest people.
“The idea that management of migration is a matter of national sovereignty is extremely limited. The truth is that in the meantime, the real controllers of international mobility are the smugglers and criminal organisations. It must be recognised that migration is inevitable and will not stop”, the socialist told the crowd of policymakers and researchers.
Regarding priorities for the UN, when he takes over from South Korean Ban Ki-moon as Secretary-General, Guterres said he already has “several items to put on the discussion table to drive positive developments” with regards to the goal of making Europe accept more migrants.
This will take place in the form of “develop[ing] legal migration opportunities as the only way to fight against criminal networks”, he hinted.
Guterres insisted that every European Union (EU) nation must be forced to “share the burden” of mass migration.
Despite having used the word “burden” to describe giving residence to large numbers of aliens, the 67-year-old went on to declare: “We must convince [Europeans] that migration is inevitable and that it is the multiethnic societies which are multicultural and multireligious who are building wealth.”
The UN’s next head acknowledged he is “not convinced that it will be easy, given the state of [public] opinion”. Calling for politicians to put “tolerance” and “reason” at the heart of their decision making, Portugal’s former prime minister urged lawmakers to prioritise “values” over respecting voters’ wishes.
He stated: “When elected officials hesitate to choose between values and the next election, I would advise them to choose values. If they go for short term [electoral gain] they will lose both, because there will always come a time when they lose an election At that point, it becomes very hard to recover the values that have been abandoned.”
Quoting Winston Churchill’s condemnation of then-Prime Minister of Britain Neville Chamberlain, in 1938, Guterres said: “You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war.”
Far from being linked to wealth, data from different European countries support the idea that non-European migrants are a net cost to nations’ treasuries. In the Netherlands, 65 per cent of non-European migrants who arrived during the 1990s are still living on welfare.
The research of University College London psychology professor Dr. James Thompson shows Europe is being harmed by mass migration from poorer countries, as on average the newcomers’ intellectual competence is much lower than that of natives.
Partly as a result of their culture and partly due to genetics, he notes that the difference in intelligence results in migrants having “lower status, lower wages and higher resentment at perceived differences.
“On the latter point, if the West cannot bear to mention competence differences, then differences in outcome are seen as being due solely to prejudice,” Thompson warns.

USA – Ex-chemistry student gets 20 years in plot to behead US vet
CINCINNATI (AP) – A former chemistry student was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison for plotting to behead a U.S. military veteran and attack a police station in support of the Islamic State group.
Munir Abdulkader, 22, apologized in court after his attorney emphasized that he had no criminal history and was known in his suburban West Chester Township community as kind and thoughtful – before being influenced by an FBI confidential informant as well as Junaid Hussain, an Islamic State group recruiter who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Syria last year.
“He’s got Hussain in one ear and he’s got the informant in the other,” attorney Richard Smith-Monahan told U.S. District Judge Michael Barrett.
Timothy Mangan, an assistant U.S. attorney, said Abdulkader had pledged allegiance to a terrorist organization known for barbaric acts. Authorities said Hussain helped identify a U.S. military employee for Abdulkader to kidnap at home and behead while making a propaganda video. The plot then called for him to attack a police station with explosives and a gun, Mangan said.
“They were intentionally targeting the people who are trying to protect us,” said Mangan, calling it one of the “most significant” Islamic State group-related plots against the U.S. homeland.
The veteran, whose name hasn’t been made public, wrote a letter to the judge saying he thinks every day about the plot that included tying up his family.
U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman said: “Our citizens can sleep a little more soundly tonight knowing that he (Abdulkader) will be in prison for 20 years.”
Abdulkader, a former Xavier University chemistry student, dropped his head as the judge explained his rights to appeal the sentence. Monahan said they would discuss the options.
“I just sincerely apologize to the court for my actions,” Abdulkader told the judge. “I’m not proud of my conduct. I’m not proud of who I supported.”
Abdulkader pleaded guilty earlier this year to attempting to kill officers and employees of the United States and to providing material support of a foreign terrorist organization, along with a firearms count. He was arrested in May 2015 after buying an AK-47 rifle through the informant.
Monahan had asked for a five-year sentence, citing sentences for other cases involving terrorist plots and the defendant’s prior history.
After his release from prison, Abdulkader will be on a lifetime of probation that will include monitoring his computer use and having his cellphones and other electronic devices subject to search at any time.
Marc Sageman, a former CIA operations officer who has written extensively about terrorist organizations, claimed in a filing for the defense that Abdulkader was unfairly set up by an informant who gave him means to commit an attack he otherwise wouldn’t be able to carry out.
Mangan said Abdulkader had been expressing support for Islamic State group extremists, beheadings and martyrdom months before the informant became involved. He said it was fortunate the informant was able to prevent any bloodshed.
His arrest in 2015 came four months after another young suburban Cincinnati man was arrested by the FBI on charges he plotted to attack the U.S. Capitol in support of the Islamic State group.
Christopher Lee Cornell, 22, of Green Township, pleaded guilty to three counts including attempted murder of U.S. officials and employees and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 5.

NYDAILY NEWS – Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu blames ‘arsonists’ terror’ for raging fires that have displaced 50,000 people in Haifa
HAIFA, Israel — Israel’s prime minister is blaming “arsonists’ terror” for some of the fires raging across the country.
Speaking to reporters Thursday in Haifa, where the largest of several wildfires around the country has prompted the evacuation of tens of thousands of people, Benjamin Netanyahu said those setting the fires would be “punished severely.”
Netanyahu did not elaborate on the identity of the suspected arsonists or their motives, but Israeli officials typically use “terror” to refer to Arab or Palestinian militant activity.
Earlier, Israel’s police chief said arrests have been made, without elaborating.
Some 50,000 people have been evacuated from Haifa, Israel’s third largest city. Fires have been sparked around the country for several days, with dry, windy weather spreading the flames quickly.
Authorities speculated the blaze may have been set by politically-motivated arsonists.
Spreading quickly due to dry, windy weather, the fire raced through Haifa’s northern neighborhoods. While there were no serious injuries, several dozen people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
Police and firefighters were deployed throughout the city, as people loaded up supermarket carts with belongings and fled their homes. Some people connected hoses together from apartment buildings to help battle the fires, while residents held cloth over their faces.
Israeli’s police chief Roni Alsheich told reporters that arsonists were suspected of setting some of the fires and that arrests had been made, without elaborating.
“It’s safe to assume that whoever is setting the fires isn’t doing it only out of pyromania,” he said. “It’s safe to assume that if it is arson it is politically-motivated.”
The blaze was the largest of several fires to erupt across the country in recent days. The rash of fires is the worst since 2010, when Israel suffered the single deadliest wildfire in its history. That blaze burned out of control for four days, killed 42 people and was extinguished only after firefighting aircraft arrived from as far away as the United States.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meanwhile spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, thanking him for his help in dealing with the fires. The premier’s office said Thursday that Russia is sending two large firefighting aircraft to Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday branded suspected arsonists as “terrorists” and promised that harsh steps would be taken against them as the country struggled to deal with hundreds of brush fires, some of them apparently deliberately set.
“Every fire caused by arson, or by incitement to arson, is terrorism,” Netanyahu told reporters at a briefing in Haifa. “Anyone who tries to burn parts of the State of Israel will be punished severely.”
Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said a small number of arrests had been made, but declined to provide any information on the identity of the suspects or any evidence found.
“I can promise you that these investigations will do everything to reach the arsonists, but also those who are inciting these acts,” said Erdan. “They will feel the full force of the law.”
Worst hit was the northern city of Haifa, where some 60,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes as fires were stoked by high winds and dry conditions.
Israel Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich confirmed earlier in the day that some of the fires cropping up throughout the country were caused by arson, although he said it was unlikely they were the result of a coordinated effort.
Calls for action came from across the political spectrum.
“Whoever is found to be deliberately setting fires to harm innocent citizens is a terrorist,” said MK Yair Lapid, leader of the opposition Yesh Atid party. “The security forces need to deal with anyone caught with a heavy hand.”
Yisrael Hasson, a former Knesset member and deputy director of the Shin Bet, called the deliberate setting of fires “a weapon of mass destruction.”
Hasson told Channel 2 that if Israeli Arabs or Palestinians were behind the fires, it represented an escalation in their opposition to Israel. “It does not just cross the lines, it burns the lines,” he said
Political commentators also fanned the flames.
“Anyone who is caught (alive) should be charged with treason and their family’s possessions should be confiscated. This is war,” tweeted Erel Segal, a prominent right-wing radio personality.
Opposition leader Isaac Herzog, head of the Zionist Union faction, also termed it “a new kind of terrorism” but called for restraint until the fires have been doused.
“It is important to emphasize that now is not the time for recrimination, but rather a moment to work together and take mutual responsibility, helping each other wherever and however required,” a statement said.
Arab lawmakers urged Jewish politicians to not “incite” against the Arab community so long as there is no proof that these were deliberate nationalist acts.
“I call on the Israeli pyromaniac politicians: Let the firefighters do their noble work,” Joint List MK Ahmad Tibi told Channel 2.
“We love this country, this land,” he said, mentioning other instances when Arabs were initially blamed for setting fires that later turned out to have been accidental conflagrations.
He categorically condemned any instances of arson, calling such acts “despicable.”
Meanwhile, Israel was giving thanks for the international assistance it had received from countries that sent firefighting planes to help.

France is in turmoil. “Migrants” arriving from Africa and the Middle East sow disorder and insecurity in many cities. The huge slum commonly known as the “jungle of Calais” has just been dismantled, but other slums are being created each day. In eastern Paris, streets have been covered with corrugated sheets, oilcloth and disjointed boards. Violence is commonplace. France’s 572 “no-go zones,” officially defined as “sensitive urban areas”, continue to grow, and police officers who approach them often suffer the consequences. Recently, a police car drove into an ambush and was torched while the police were prevented from getting out. If attacked, police officers are told by their superiors to flee rather than retaliate. Many police officers, angry at having to behave like cowards, have organized demonstrations. No terrorist attacks have taken place since the slaughter of a priest in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray on July 26, 2016, but intelligence services see that jihadists have returned from the Middle East and are ready to act, and that riots may break out anywhere, any time, on any pretext.
Although overwhelmed by a domestic situation it barely controls, the French government still intervenes in the world affairs: a “Palestinian state” is still its favorite cause, Israel its favorite scapegoat.
Last Spring, even though both France and the Palestinian territories were in terrible shape, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault anyway declared that it was “urgent” to relaunch the “peace process” and create a Palestinian state. France therefore convened an international conference, held in Paris on June 3. Neither Israel nor the Palestinians were invited to it. The conference was a flop. It concluded with a vapid statement about the “imperative necessity” to go “forward.”
France did not stop there. The government then decided to organize a new conference in December. This time, with Israel and the Palestinians. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that Israel does not need intermediaries, refused the invitation. Palestinian leaders accepted. Saeb Erekat, the Palestinian Authority spokesman congratulated France, adding, not surprisingly, that the Palestinian Authority had “suggested” the idea to the French.

A suicide truck bomb killed about 100 people, most of them Iranian Shi’ite pilgrims, at a petrol station in the city of Hilla 100 km (62 miles) south of Baghdad on Thursday, police and medical sources said.
Islamic State (IS), the ultra hardline Sunni militant group that considers all Shi’ites to be apostates, claimed responsibility the attack in an online statement.
The group is also fighting off a U.S.-backed offensive on its stronghold Mosul, in northern Iraq, in which Iranian-trained Shi’ite militias are taking part.
The pilgrims were en route back to Iran from the Iraqi Shi’ite holy city of Kerbala, where they had commemorated Arbaeen, the 40th day of mourning for the killing of Imam Hussein, a grandson of Mohammad, in the 7th century AD, the medical sources said.
The gas station has a restaurant in its premises that is popular with travelers. Five pilgrim buses were torched by the force of the blast from the explosives-laden truck, a police official said.
Islamic State has intensified attacks over the past month in areas out of its control in efforts to weaken the offensive launched on Oct. 17 to retake Mosul, the last major city under IS control in Iraq.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack without giving a casualties toll. Tehran will continue to support Iraq’s ”relentless fight against terrorism,” ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

Iraq: Around 100 Shia pilgrims returning from Karbala killed in truck bombing in Hilla
Around 100 people have been killed after a truck bomb blast hit several buses carrying Iranian Shia pilgrims at a petrol station in Hilla, 60 miles (97 km) south of Baghdad, on Thursday.
Most of the victims are reportedly Shia pilgrims from Iran with some from Afghanistan, who had stopped at the petrol station to refuel on their journey home after commemorating Arbaeen in the city of Karbala.
A fuel tanker with explosives on board was used in the attack, which according to police, destroyed most the petrol station and surrounding buildings.
According to reports, the so-called Islamic State have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iran’s military forces and operations in Syria are significantly more than what has been generally reported so far.
The Syrian war has led to the rise and export of terrorism abroad as well as to one of the worst humanitarian tragedies, in which more than 470,000 people have been killed.
Iran has played a crucial role in maintaining in power President Assad, who has repeatedly used chemical weapons on civilians. Iran has promoted continuing the conflict.
While, according to reports by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Syrian military has fewer than 50,000 men, Iran has deployed more than 70,000 Iranian and non-Iranian forces in Syria, and pays monthly salaries to over 250,000 militiamen and agents. According to a report entitled, “How Iran Fuels Syria War,” published by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), non-Iranian mercenaries number around 55,000 men; Iraqi militias are around 20,000 men (from 10 groups), Afghan militias are approximately 15,000 to 20,000 men, Lebanese Hezbollah are around 7,000 to 10,000 men, and Pakistani, Palestinian and other militiamen number approximately 5,000 to 7,000.
In addition, the composition of Iranian IRGC forces are around 8,000 to 10,000 men, and 5,000 to 6,000 from the regular Iranian Army.
The major Iranian decision-makers in the Syrian conflict are Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the senior cadre of the Revolutionary Guards. Iran’s so-called moderate leaders — including President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif — are also in favor of Iran’s military, advisory, financial, and intelligence involvement in Syria. Rouhani repeatedly announced his support for Assad and pledged to “stand by [Syria].”

Local residents claim the armed man stormed a retirement home at around 9.45pm but they are unsure of his motives as anti-terror police surround the building.
At least 70 monks, who have served as missionaries in Africa, reside in the home in Montferrier-sur-Lez, north of the city.
Those killed are thought to be a woman supervisor, and a man who was working with her.
Shots were heard and there were reports of manager of the home being tied up and gagged by the intruder, who was wearing a balaclava and carried a shot gun and knife.
‘A supervisor inside the building raised the alarm very discreetly,’ said a local police source, who confirmed that the siege was on going past 11pm.
‘There are fears that two people have died – a man and a woman. The gunman is being hunted.’
The gunman is still believed to be in the building which is surrounded by anti-terror police.
One of the victims is believed to have been killed with a knife and authorities said it was a “criminal act”.
‘An individual, who was masked and armed with a knife and a sawn-off shotgun came into the retirement home where 70 monks live,’ one source said, adding that the man’s motivations were unknown.
A supervisor in the building was able to alert police before escaping the horror.
The nursing home for monks and priests was established since 1994 run by an association Les Chenes Verts.
‘A supervisor inside the building raised the alarm very discreetly,’ said a local police source, who confirmed that the siege was on going past 11pm.
France is currently under a state of emergency following a series of terrorist attacks by Islamist terrorists .
One of the most recent was in July when an 84-year-old Catholic priest was murdered during morning mass at the parish church in Saint Etienne-du-Rouvray, a suburb of Rouen.
The two attackers, who said they were from Islamic State, slit Father Jacques Hamel’s throat before themselves being shot dead by police.”

PARIS (AP) — The French gendarmerie says a masked gunman has burst into a retirement home for monks in southern France and killed an elderly woman with a knife.
The press service for the national military police couldn’t immediately say whether the incident is linked to a terror act or not.
A press official said early Friday that more than 100 members of the security forces have been dispatched on the scene in the village of Montferrier-sur-Lez, near the southern town of Montpellier.
The body of the deceased woman was found gagged and tied up outside the building, the official said.
The security forces searched the four floors of the residence but did not find the assailant. Research was continuing in other parts. The official said 59 monks are out of danger.

Le Parisien and AFP are reporting, citing sources close to the investigation, that French gendarmes are responding to a religious retirement facility close to Montpellier, France, and are trying to locate a hooded man who is believed to be armed with a knife and a shotgun. There’s no confirmation on hostage reports, and police have not said whether they believe this is a criminal matter or related to terrorism.

France: One killed during armed attack on Catholic missionary retirement home
At least one person has been killed in the village of Montferrier-Sur-Lez, north of Montpellier on Friday, after a gunman attacked a Catholic missionary retirement home, taking 70 monks and nuns hostage.
According to reports, a masked man burst into the Maison de Retraite des Missions Africaines retirement home, armed with a knife and a shotgun and took 70 of the monks and nuns hostage. Anti-terror police were immediately deployed to the African Missions Retirement home and sixty of the monks have reportedly been rescued.
Local media says that an elderly female supervisor was killed after she raised the alarm. Her body was found gagged and stabbed outside the building by police.
The attacker’s motivations and whereabouts are still unknown. Police are searching for the suspect and have said that he could still be in the building. As of yet, none has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The information was collected from a smartphone belonging to one of the suspects taken into custody after simultaneous police swoops in the southern port city of Marseille and Strasbourg in northeast France last Saturday night.

During his interview with RTP, Al-Sisi was asked if Egypt would consider a UN peacekeeping role in Syria, to which Al-Sisi responded:

“The Turkish government has reacted angrily to the European Parliament’s Nov. 24 overwhelming recommendation to freeze Ankara’s EU accession negotiations, with chief negotiator Ömer Çelik saying his government regards the decision as “void.”
“On a day like this, I would not want to make statements over the EP’s [European Parliament] visionless decision. In reality, we regard this decision as void,” said Çelik, who is also Turkey’s EU minister.
“It is easy to talk like this in places where terror has not occurred. At a time when Turkey, which has a 1,295-kilometer border with Syria and Iraq, is involved in a heightened fight against terror, there are visionless and imprudent debates going on in Europe, instead of solidarity,” Çelik said in reaction to the non-binding vote.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Y?ldr?m also called the parliament’s move “two-faced” and the result of “double standards.”
Some 479 of the votes in parliament were in favor of freezing the talks with Turkey while 37 were against it, and 107 abstained. The main reason behind the halt in negotiations was “disproportionate repressive measures” introduced under the state of emergency in Turkey that came after the July 15 coup attempt.
“MEPs strongly condemn the ‘disproportionate repressive measures’ taken by the Turkish government since the failed coup attempt in July 2016. These ‘violate basic rights and freedoms protected by the Turkish Constitution itself,’” according to the parliamentarians.
“Turkey is an important partner of the EU. But in partnerships, the will to cooperate has to be two-sided… Turkey is not showing this political will as the government’s actions are further diverting Turkey from its European path,” the members of the parliament noted.
It also noted that the re-introduction of the capital punishment would also pave way for the “formal suspension of the accession process,” as Turkey has already complied with the requirement set out by EU acquis – the legislation of the community.
Meanwhile, Çelik added that the decision was not binding but it bore a meaning as a “manifestation” of what has occurred between the two parties up until now.
“Unfortunately, they have signed a decision that will go down badly in history,” said Çelik, highlighting the vote’s timing, which he called the “situation in which relations with Europe were practically halted.”
“We are separating the values on which the European Parliament was established and this decision because these values are, like the founding fathers of Europe said, democracy and the state of law. But today members of the European Parliament have shown an attitude that clashed with its own values to a country that has defended its democracy to the death,” said Çelik.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said on Nov. 23 said the vote was worthless while accusing Europe of taking the side of “terror organizations.”
Meanwhile, Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy leader Öztürk Y?lmaz said the decision paved the way for Turkey to become a “one-man regime” and reiterated his party’s continued support for the continuation of the negotiations.
“The decision, within the given circumstances that Turkey is in, is not a decision to help Turkey in its democratic struggle. On the contrary, it is a decision that paves the way for the government to continue on its own path,” Y?lmaz said Nov. 24.
“They [EP] give the government leverage in the executive presidency debate so that the European Union cannot be a part of it. We think this is wrong. This decision is not legally binding; it is a political decision,” he said.”

German police arrested a 20-year-old Syrian refugee who sympathized with Islamic State after he tried to cross into Denmark with potential bomb-making materials, a spokesman for the Stuttgart prosecutor’s office said on Thursday.
The man, whose name was not disclosed, had been in Germany for some time but it was not immediately clear when he entered the country, the spokesman Jan Holzner told Reuters.
“We have evidence that he sympathized with Islamic State,” Holzner said.
He said the man was arrested on Sunday in the southern city of Ulm after failing to cross into Denmark a day earlier, but gave no further details. He did not know whether the man had been granted asylum in Germany.

“Immigration minister Peter Dutton’s linking of terrorism with past levels of Lebanese Muslim migration will do “immense damage” to the government’s attempts to engage Islamic communities in the battle against violent extremism, a leading expert has warned.
Dr Clarke Jones, who worked as a national security official for 17 years, said the minister’s remarks risk “creating the terrorists of the future, if I want to be blunt”.
“We are certainly not reducing the threat, we are contributing to the threat by those statements. Effective intervention means working with young kids and the only way you can get to young kids is working with communities,” he told Fairfax Media.
“The government has taken a 10 or 15-year step backward.”
Dr Jones, now a research fellow at the Australian National University’s School of Global Governance, has been working with Islamic community members to help design and set up youth intervention and support programs.
He said frontline police and intelligence agencies trying to build links with those communities would also likely be dismayed by Mr Dutton’s comments.
“Police struggle at the best of times with community engagement because they have the difficult dual role,” he said.
The federal government has invested millions of dollars in trying to get effective Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) programs off the ground. But the Dutton comments could jeopardise any progress already made, others also warned.
Professor Clive Williams, a former senior defence official now at the Centre for Military and Security Law at the ANU, slammed the minister’s comments as ” counterproductive”.
“Its not a good idea to make that kind of observation in public. We need the co-operation of families, they are the first point of contact really if there is concern developing about a young person.”

According to the newspaper, there is a wiretap on chairman Aziz Oilkadi’s phone. He is suspected of having contact with “many radical figures”. The other leader is suspected of being part of the so-called Hofstad terrorist group. The group is centered around Mohammed B. the extremist who killed Theo van Gogh n 2004.
Oilkadi denies the accusations to the newspaper and insists that he is not radicalized. “I graduated from the Vrije Universiteit and have been a dutiful Muslim since my 18th birthday. Do I know jihadists? We know so many people, that means nothing.” He added that the other board member is also back on the right path.
The chairman stressed that the Arrayan mosque always has good contact with the police.”

A woman and a child are said to have died in an explosion at the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos.
Reports speak of others including children having been injured.
According to local police quoted by AFP, the blast was caused by gas as the woman was cooking.
Migrants are said to have started a fire after the explosion, burning a large part of the camp.
The past few months have seen several incidents at refugee camps on Greek islands, where the number of migrants is more than double their capacity.

Two people were killed and two others were injured after a fire broke out at a migrant camp on the Greek island of Lesbos late on Thursday, a police official told Reuters.
The official said that a 66-year-old woman and a six-year old child were killed when a tent caught fire in the camp of Moria. Two other people were seriously injured.

Police and the fire brigade were investigating the scene, a government official said, adding that initial evidence showed the fire was probably caused by accident.
Clashes broke out following the incident between dozens of migrants and police, officials said. The government official said the skirmishes were brief.
More than 6,000 migrants and refugees are stranded on the island of Lesbos, twice the capacity of state facilities.
Tensions have boiled over at overcrowded camps in the country, which is also struggling to emerge from a debt crisis, as the slow processing of asylum requests adds to frustration over living conditions.
Under a European Union deal with Turkey, migrants and refugees arriving after 20 March are to be held in centres set up on five Aegean islands, including Lesbos, and sent back if their asylum applications are not accepted.

Of course, they presented absolutely no evidence to support their startling claim other than to point out that Clinton received, on average, 7% fewer votes in counties that used electronic voting machines rather than optical scanners and paper ballots.
Apparently that was all the evidence that Jill Stein needed to be convinced that she might have a chance in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan where she received 1.1%, 0.8% and 1.1% of the vote, respectively. So she started an online funding campaign to raise the millions of dollars required to force the recounts.
