  1. I post the following to be used as a springboard to those who are so inclined to take an interest. FOFOA was preceded by FOA, who I believe was preceded by The Other, or something like this (been a while since I read from the beginning.) Regardless, the original guy started posting around 1998, about gold and its meaning. It is a long and most intriguing journey if you start reading from the beginning, and it will alter the way you view the world. Even if you refute it all (and in order to do so you must already be something close to a bible thumping Keynesian) it will leave a mark about how the world has functioned for hundreds of years, and how it works now. Seek out Friend of Another (FOA) but then start from the earliest thread.

    • Sorry for the double post. Just go to the right side of the page where it says it all started. And it’s not off topic. If you take this “red pill” along with the one you’ve taken with this site, then read Antal Fekete’s articles, you will l have rendered yourself utterly useless for Polite Society– and I would guess proudly so. Oil and gold are the root of Arab and Persian (Islamic) power, in a nutshell. This is only a small aspect but relevant to the interests here.

  2. Britain and France snub EU’s emergency Trump meeting

Split highlights difficulty EU faces co-ordinating response to US presidential election

Britain and France on Sunday night snubbed a contentious EU emergency meeting to align the bloc’s approach to Donald Trump’s election, exposing rifts in Europe over the US vote.

Hailed by diplomats as a chance to “send a signal of what the EU expects” from Mr Trump, the plan fell into disarray after foreign ministers from the bloc’s two main military powers declined to attend the gathering demanded by Berlin and Brussels.

The meeting comes as Mr Trump appointed his key deputies. The president-elect chose the more moderate establishment figure Reince Priebus, the Republican National Committee chairman, to be his chief-of-staff over campaign chairman Stephen Bannon, who becomes chief strategist and counsellor. Mr Priebus’s appointment suggests Mr Trump is sweeping aside some of his campaign rhetoric to opt for a more traditional path.

  3. Europeans rally around defense plan after campaign swipes by Trump

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – France and Germany looked set to win support on Monday for a European defense plan that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has made more urgent by criticizing low defense spending by allies and questioning America’s security guarantees for Europe.

High-level representatives of the two countries were heading to an EU meeting of foreign and defense ministers to present a revamped EU defense cooperation plan as a way of shoring up a club still digesting the impact of Britain’s decision to quit.

The plan envisages relatively modest moves – increasing joint European spending on military missions, developing assets such as helicopters and drones and expanding peace-keeping operations abroad.

It does not envisage formation of a European army, though it foresees a planning center for civilian and military missions being set up. European planners are at pains to stress it will not duplicate or rival the work of NATO.

But the plan takes on special relevance after Trump’s comments during his campaign for the U.S. presidency in which he criticized low levels of defense spending by some European members of the U.S.-led NATO.

    • Hollande _covered statues_ in the Louvre when Khamenei came for a visit. Last month France was first in line to ink the biggest deal ever with the mullocracy.

Can’t make Saudis jealous, arms deals there are gargantuan. So this year Hollande’s government awarded the crown prince, Mohammed bin Nayef, the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest honour.

On what grounds? The news cited, “efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism”. That didn’t go over well:
“[N]ews of the bestowal of the Legion d’Honneur on Nayef sparked harsh criticism on social media in France from opponents to the death penalty, many tweeting using the hashtag “honte” (shame).

“Saudi Arabia on Sunday carried out its 70th execution so far this year, beheading a man convicted of murder.

“On 2 January, 47 people were executed for “terrorism”, including Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr, a driving force behind protests that began in 2011 among the kingdom’s minority Shiites.

“Most people sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia are beheaded with a sword.”

      • So this year Hollande’s government awarded the crown prince, Mohammed bin Nayef, the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest honour.

On what grounds? The news cited, “efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism”. That didn’t go over well…

They may as well have awarded the fox a medal of valor for protecting the hen house. Of course, for French people who still think that denial is an Egyptian river, Islam’s long-standing tradition of capital punishment is more of an issue than whatever Wahhabist / Salafist indoctrination that inspired the Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan terrorist atrocities.

There is no way to politely observe how Hollande is osculating Muslim @ss so frequently that he now blows his nose with toilet paper. Far be it from these cheese-eating surrender monkeys to object about how innocent Muslims are executed for supposed “witchcraft” or being subjected to the insanely cruel slow-death-by-strangulation of homosexuals.

        Sidebar:

By and large, the Western press gives ZERO ink or airtime to the fact that Iran executes homosexuals by “hanging” them in a way that is totally different from the—infinitely more humane (yes, you read that correctly)—gallows method. Slowly hoisting someone into the air who’s suspended by a noose is one of the most tortuously slow and agonizing deaths imaginable … short only of actual crucifixion.

        http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6223/161/1600/Sep3002hangings.jpg

Yet, where are the clamoring French protests against this theocratic persecution of people based solely on the issue of their sexual orientation? Another thousand words could be given over to the Islamic roots of homosexuality and its insanely hypocritical pubic hair-splitting that is used to define what constitutes acceptable and unacceptable forms (see: The filthy culture of bacha bazi in Afghanistan) of otherwise unmentionable “gay” behavior. Again, the hypocrisy is most vile and utterly evil.

This goes on, even as supposedly “progressive” France is being overrun by Muslims, where indigenous French people are being slaughtered with evermore alarming regularity, in which no-go-zones or tent cities increasingly dot the landscape of a nation so thoroughly divided and fragmented to where any hope of truly peaceful, internal, reconciliation is sliding across an ever-receding event horizon.

Nor should it be overlooked that all of these “progressive” French Liberal feminists remain conspicuously silent about the institutionalized, doctrinal misogyny that continues to permeate what passes for Islamic “culture” (yes, those are sneer quotes).

        • PS: Thank you, yucki, for bringing this information to bear.

Although I sincerely doubt any such thing … you, as a woman, could just as easily let articles like these drop by the wayside instead of raising them amidst an expanding cloud of suspicion and contempt for Europe’s supposedly “progressive” feminists (or gays).

The thundering silence of this world’s feminist and homosexual groups (especially within the free-speaking West) about Islam’s well-known, brutally vicious treatment of women and gays represents the usual damningly-faint-praise these reprehensible types have for the selfsame legal, Constitutional structures which they would just-as-quickly perish without.

As someone who (throughout my entire life) has regularly supported, legally advocated for, and even shared living space with gays and lesbians alike, I am no longer capable of tolerating this outrageously mute response from their lot regarding such a flagrant evil as Islam.

These socio-cultural termites are now obliged to cope with my willingness to support civil unions, even as I increasingly oppose “gay marriage” and its all-too-often blatant assault upon heterosexual matrimony.

Any reply that you might make would be most welcome.

          • “Intersectionality” should be the tip-off that these unnatural allies are serving an entirely different, and possibly inimical agenda to those of the various parties. The participants get swept up by agitators experienced in commie tactics. Interest-group advocacy gets defined as subversive; challenges are condemned as undermining group cohesion.

It helps that classes of victim groups are often already irrational. Critical thinking can’t beat radical solutions in mass gut appeal. Then, when homosexuals, feminists, BLM, and Free-Free Palestine are all screaming interchangeable epithets, there’s too much noise to hear yourself think. Throw in some strategic violence and you’re in a mob riot.

  4. U.S. protesters march against Trump presidency for fifth day

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Demonstrators in major U.S. cities took to the streets on Sunday for a fifth straight day to protest President-elect Donald Trump, whose campaign manager said President Barack Obama and Democrat Hillary Clinton should do more to support a peaceful transition.

Following several nights of unrest, crowds of people marched in parks in New York City, San Francisco and Oakland, California, according to social media.

A few thousand joined a march at the south end of Manhattan’s Central Park, beginning at a Trump property on Columbus Circle and walking toward the real estate mogul’s skyscraper headquarters less than a mile (1.6 km) away.

They chanted: “Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcomed here,” and held signs such as “White silence = violence” and “Don’t mourn, organize.”

One protester said demonstrators were reclaiming what the American flag he was holding stood for.

He had better check what his boss and the politicians he supposedly supports stand for because it isn’t freedom.

Students with megaphones led protesters in a march across the student parking lot and onto … two other high schools.

Near Wheaton Mall, Jeffrey O. Thames, Sr., founder of Hope Restored!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing recidivism and personal hopelessness, directed students towards Westfield Wheaton Mall. Once protesters reached the roof of a mall parking garage, they stopped to chant. Students used megaphones to rally protesters with common ideas. Thames encouraged protesters to continue to fight for their rights and let their voices be heard.

Thames decided to get involved with the protest in order to help the students get organized. “Without any type of leadership they could have shut it down… [Students] needed somebody to be out to witness and be that buffer between the students and different law enforcement that may come in the middle of this moment. This is a moment for Silver Spring that won’t die that we want your voices to be heard and to be galvanized,” Thames said.

At 1:08 p.m. Principal Renay Johnson made an announcement asking teachers to take attendance for those absent or tardy. Principal Johnson reminded students and teachers that there are consequences for violations of school policy.

    • They chanted: “Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcomed here,”

Cool beans you little fµ¢?$. Let’s see what happens when federal funding is abruptly withdrawn from these so-called, immigrant-coddling, “sanctuary cities” that, just as frequently, are heavily dependent upon massive national subsidies because municipal, county or state support hasn’t a fecking chance of floating their financially waterlogged @sses.

  5. Following Trump’s election, CAIR leader calls for Arab Spring-type overthrow of U.S. government
By Joe Newby November 14, 2016

Despite statements from both President Obama and vanquished Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton, liberals have been unable to accept the fact that Republican Donald J. Trump won Tuesday’s election and is set to become the 45th President of the United States. Many have taken to the streets in violent protests, others have demanded Trump and his supporters be assassinated and still others are working to enact a coup d’état by encouraging the Electoral College to ignore the will of the voters. Now comes word that a leader of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued a tweet advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government.

Early Wednesday morning, Hussam Ayloush, head of the Council on American Islamic Relations’ Los Angeles office, tweeted this:

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/11/14/following-trumps-election-cair-leader-calls-arab-spring-type-overthrow-u-s-government/

    • When you read the rest of the article remember that the Dems are about to choose a Moslem to be the head of their Party.

Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison to be the possible next head of the Democratic National Committee

He is a supporter of the Moslem Brotherhood and wants to <strike fight Islamophobia. I don’t know how the Dems could be more open about their support for the enemies of freedom.

      • Ups the escalation a notch. Congress hasn’t done its job for years. No need even to hide in plain sight. 0’s appointments had to pass Congressional oversight, didn’t they?

CIA = Brennan, who converted years ago in Saudi Arabia. Homeland Security = Mohamed Elibiary. Now we have Jeh Johnson doing the CVE-thing. etc., etc., etc.

Our doddering old RINO McCain threw a few softball questions, the rest of the gentle{men} in the club were cordial. The FBI didn’t flag any of this lot as problematic, so confirmation hearings were lovey-dovey.

  6. Old consensus conservatives, still not getting it
    By J.E. Dyer November 13, 2016

The election of Donald Trump will have a series of fascinating policy implications in the coming days. But one thing it won’t do is settle – or preempt – the conservative movement’s internal debate over what conservatism is, or is supposed to be.

I think we’re all a little tired of the whole thing right now, so I want to keep this brief. This post was prompted by the panel discussion on Fox News Sunday today, and by one little passage in which George Will responded to something that (more-liberal) columnist Charles Lane had said.

The exchange is very telling, less about Lane than about Will. I haven’t located a video clip, but excerpts from the transcript are below. The set-up is that the talking-head panel was discussing why Trump won. Chris Wallace asked Lane to pontificate:

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/11/13/old-consensus-conservatives-still-not-getting/

    • She is right about everything she says. The problem with the old consensus conservatives (especially the pundits who were the leaders of the old conservatives) is that like the libs (but to a lesser degree) they live in an echo chamber. They rarely if ever get out and talk to the ordinary people and develop some of the elitist attitudes of the left. The Donald and the new conservative movement are bursting their bubbles just as they burst the Dems bubble. Both groups want the new movement to shut up and let the old timers lead, after all they did such a good job in the past. (scarc)

The more intelligent of them will work their way through their problems and join the movement, the less intelligent will fall by the wayside.

      • The corporate relationships amplify the echo chamber effect. Instead of, or in addition to, the old “military-industrial establishment,[*] we’ve got the globalist think-tank- /lobby- /media- /members of Congress running the world.
        ……….
[*]The military is out of the loop, except to rubber-stamp or serve as beard. (Quaint word, don’t know how much testosterone is tolerated in the army that bears 0’s mark.)

        • From what various Trump people have been saying they are going to recall some of the good officers O purged and rebuild the military. Probably a lot of the NCO’s also.

            • The war is far from over but we are fighting back, once we start fighting in a rational fashion with victory as the goal we will maintain that stance. Victory isn’t certain but it is a high probability, always remember this as long as we fight back we can’t lose, we may not win quickly but we won’t lose either.

  7. Retired Gen. Flynn: ‘Paid anarchists’ are infiltrating anti-Trump protests
By LU Staff November 13, 2016

Retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn believes some of the people protesting President-elect Donald Trump are “paid anarchists,” he explained Saturday at a gathering for the Young America’s Foundation.

Flynn elaborated that the explosion of protests to Trump’s election nationwide represent a “sickness in our system,” and emphasized that a defining characteristic of the U.S. is the “rule of law.” He lampooned protestors labeling themselves progressive, telling the audience “progressive equals socialism.”

Flynn’s accusation comes after a Daily Caller investigation found a left wing-charity, the Progressive Unity Fund, was funding anti-Trump protests across the country. The fund reportedly backs the Act Now To Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition, which is organizing “emergency protests” in major cities after the election. “The ANSWER Coalition is mobilizing across the country to organize and take part in emergency actions,” the group reportedly said in a statement after the election.

Flynn served as a valuable defense surrogate for Trump throughout the 2016 election, at one point he was floated as a possible vice presidential pick for the president-elect. Flynn’s name is now reportedly in the running for U.S. defense secretary or national security advisor in Trump’s administration.

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/11/13/retired-gen-flynn-paid-anarchists-infiltrating-anti-trump-protests/

    • He is right, at the current time it is politically impossible for him to state publicly state that all of the rioters and a lot of the protesters are professionals working for George Soros.

  8. Russia detains 12 suspected terrorists using info provided by Tajikistan – Dushanbe

DUSHANBE. Nov 14 (Interfax) – The Tajik law enforcement authorities told Russia about the extremists plotting terror attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Tajik Interior Ministry said.

Tajik Interior Ministry employees were the first to identify a local accomplice of the group who confessed and shared information about all members of the ring, it said. “Tajik law enforcers then conveyed the information to colleagues from the Russian Federal Security Service through inter-state cooperation channels,” it said.

A Tajik citizen, a resident of Tursunzade, fought for ISIL (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) in Syria and recruited his kin and other citizens of Central Asia to join the ranks of militants, the ministry said.

The extremist’s brother, who was recruited and intended to go to Syria for terrorism purposes, was detained by the police of Tajikistan and Russia and brought back home.

“On the basis of evidence given by the detained citizen, I.J. (a brother of I.K.), and in the course of joint operations of police officers from the Republic of Tajikistan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and Federal Security Service departments, 12 citizens of Central Asia who were plotting terror attacks in Russia and Central Asia were detained in Moscow and St. Petersburg,” the report said.

The Federal Security Service public relations center said on Saturday that the activity of an inter-regional terrorist group plotting a series of terror attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg had been stopped in Russia.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited one of Berlin’s junior firefighters, where half of the youths come from migrant families, on Wednesday.

Merkel said she was pleased that Integration Minister Aydan Oezoguz had chosen this project, as it “is living example of what [the government has] in mind.” In June 2016 six young asylum seekers joined the firefighting service in Wedding, Berlin, which currently consists of 50 boys and 12 girls. The German Chancellor praised the project’s cooperation with local schools and complimented the involvement of girls, saying it is “nice” that girls “are interested in technical things.”

  11. Trump and International Security

    by Richard Kemp

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9313/trump-international-security

Since Donald Trump’s election, media-fuelled panic has engulfed Europe, including over defence and security. We are told that World War III is imminent, that Trump will jump into bed with Putin and pull the US out of NATO. Such fantasies are put about by media cheerleaders for European political elites, terrified that Trump’s election will inspire support for populist candidates in the forthcoming elections in Germany, the Netherlands and France.

In fact, it is the EU, not Donald Trump, that threatens to undermine NATO and the security of the West. In recent days, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, his foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, and German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen have suggested that Trump’s election should give greater impetus to a European defence force.

This has been an EU aspiration for many years. Citing Trump is just a cynical pretext for speeding it up. It is already well advanced and has gained greater focus since the UK’s decision to leave the EU. The EU army is a vanity project, seen by many European leaders as a necessary instrument of the ever-closer union they desire. Speaking at a meeting of the European Defence Agency in Brussels the day after Trump’s election, Ms Mogherini suggested that the EU needs “the full potential of a super power, in the field of defence and security.”

To the economically atrophied EU, a defence union also has the potential for enormous financial savings. The intention will be to aggregate national military capabilities under what will no doubt be described as rationalization and efficiency. This will bring swingeing cuts to European defence capability. It will also severely reduce flexibility and the redundancy which is so vital to military forces that have any expectation of combat in which attrition and multiple simultaneous threats might occur.

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9313/trump-international-security

    • NATO was formed to fight the Soviet Union and prevent it from conquering all of Europe. That purpose has been achieved and no new one besides keeping the US providing and paying for the military protection of Europe has been put forward. If there is no new mission NATO will disband.

The author talks about the new EU Army being a threat to NATO, it is a real big threat just as it is a threat to the national sovereignty of every European member of NATO. The purpose of the EU Army is to provide the unelected bureaucrats muscle t force the European nations into becoming disarmed territories of the new Soviet Union.

      • Richard,
NATO was formed as an answer to threats by Soviet Union & others to political stability in Western Europe. Russia is STILL a competitor if not an enemy of USA. ( many people in Russia think that USA is an enemy of Russia and they are an enemy of USA) The fact that USSR is no more does not mean that there are no new military threats to Western World, to USA as well as to EU. One only need to think about the Crimea. Whatever one can say about history of Crimea, the Russians gave Crimea to Ukraine and took it back by force.

I agree with author, but I also agree with you: new EU Army is a threat to NATO AS WELL AS to national sovereignty of every European member of NATO.

        • NATO is an organization searching for a reason to continue to exist, without a clear reason for its existence (one main enemy) then it will continue to flounder and fall apart.

I know that there are Russians who think we are their enemy just as there are Americans who think they are ours. Right now Russia isn’t an enemy, at least not an open one and I don’t have enough info to say the are a secret one. They are a competitor and in the long run a dangerous one, right now Putin hopes to keep the US weak enough to not be a major threat to Russia but strong enough to help Russia if/when Iran or China pushes to hard and Russia needs help. I doubt he will be able to manipulate the US enough to achieve that goal but he will try.

Getting back to NATO the enemy we face with NATO has to be an enemy that all NATO members recognize as an enemy. You and I both recognize Islam as an enemy but way too many people in the US and Europe don’t and it will take a major disaster to wake them up enough to let us fight back the way we should.

        • Another way to put the purpose of NATO is the following:

          To keep the Soviets out,

          To keep France in,

          To keep Germany down.

  13. Trump’s Difficult Ally in Ankara

    by Burak Bekdil
    November 14, 2016 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9310/trump-turkey

Bilateral relations with NATO ally Turkey are probably not on president-elect Donald Trump’s top-50 priority list. All the same, when Trump’s diplomats will have to work with Turkey on issues that may soon gain prominence — such as Syria — they will have to deal with a man who says he does not mind being called a dictator.

Instead of resembling a Western democracy in the European Union — to which Turkey has long been struggling to join as a full member — Turkey increasingly looks like Kim Jong-Un’s North Korea. Most recently, the World Justice Project placed Turkey 99th out of 113 countries on its Rule of Law Index 2016, performing even worse than Myanmar and Iran. The index measures nations for constraints on government powers, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement and civil and criminal justice.

Turkey is also now the world’s biggest jailer of journalists and academics.

It also claims the title of the world’s biggest jailer of opposition politicians. A dozen lawmakers from the pro-Kurdish, opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) were detained on November 4 because they refused to give testimony in criminal proceedings. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that democratically elected officials normally can only be forced from office in an election, but those officials who mix with and encourage “terrorism” must face legal proceedings. Turkish prosecutors began probing more than 50 HDP members of parliament after the legislature voted to scrap immunity in certain cases. Turkish officials say HDP lawmakers were detained because they refuse to testify in their cases.

  15. Gingrich: Revive House Un-American Activities Committee

    http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/283511-gingrich-revive-house-un-american-activities-committee

Newt Gingrich said resurrecting the House Un-American Activities Committee could help defeat radical Islam.

“We originally created the House Un-American Activities Committee to go after the Nazis,” he said Monday on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“We passed several laws in 1938 and 1939 to go after the Nazis,” the former GOP House Speaker added. “We made it illegal to help the Nazis. We are presently going to have to take similar steps here. We’re going to take much tougher positions.

“We’re going to ultimately declare war on Islamic supremacists, and we’re going to say, ‘If you pledge allegiance to [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria], you are a traitor and you’ve lost your citizenship.’”

Gingrich’s comments came a day after the deadliest mass shooting in American history killed 49 people and wounded 53 others early Sunday morning.

Authorities identified the gunman as Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old born

  16. the daily caller- Soros Prepares For Trump War

George Soros and his fellow liberal mega-donors are currently readying the post-Hillary Clinton Democratic party to oppose President-Elect Donald Trump.

According to Politico, Soros and other key members of the so-called “Democracy Alliance” met in Washington, DC at the Mandarin Oriental hotel on Sunday for the first day of the group’s three-day investment conference.

The Democracy Alliance has funneled upwards of $500 million toward liberal activist groups and candidates since Soros co-founded the group in 2005.

DA requires all members — which in 2016 includes more than 100 “finance titans” — to donate at least $200,000 a year to approved activist groups.

But the issues the DA and DNC traditionally use to mobilize liberal voters — a la climate change — failed to pull white, working class support away from Trump and the GOP, which as one Democrat operative put, should “[call] into question… the DA itself.”

Therefore, at this year’s meeting, Soros and other liberal leaders — including Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren and Keith Ellison — will discuss opposing Trump’s plan for his first 100 days in office, a plan the DA called “a terrifying assault on President Obama’s achievements, and our progressive vision for an equitable and just nation.”

Trump has pledged that his first 100 days in office will be dedicated to restoring “honesty, accountability and change to Washington.”

His plan consists of seven points and several legislative initiatives centered on limiting the power of the federal government empowering the American working class.

A Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress
A hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health)
A requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated
A five year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service
A lifetime ban on the White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government
A complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections
Cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure

  17. Trump to Designate Muslim Brotherhood as Terror Org.
A bill that enjoys bipartisan support is already making its way through Congress. YOU can help speed up that process.

Donald Trump will work to pass legislation designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, said Walid Phares, a foreign policy advisor for the president-elect.

Speaking to the Egyptian news outlet Youm7, Phares said the legislation, which was already approved by the House Judiciary Committee earlier this year and referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was held up due to the Obama administration’s support of the group.

Clarion Project spearheaded a campaign to educate legislators and move the bill forward over the past year. The bill currently has bipartisan support.

See below for a list of senators and representatives and their stance on the bill and what you can do to move the bill forward.

In November of 2015, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced the bill, which identifies three Brotherhood entities in the U.S. including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

“We have to stop pretending that the Brotherhood are not responsible for the terrorism they advocate and finance … We have to see it for what it is: a key international organization dedicated to waging violent jihad,” Cruz told the Washington Free Beacon at the time.

      • Depends on how much pressure voters put on the individual members of Congress, the bill can pass both houses by a party line vote as long as a filibuster is blocked.

          • That will change but not quickly, change like this takes time, time that we really don’t want to take but are forced to by the inattention of most of the voters.

The price of Freedom is eternal vigilance.

The Tree of Liberty must be fertilized with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.

  19. Russia Thwarts ISIS Attacks on Moscow and St Petersburg
The federal Security Service arrested 10 people from Central Asia with help from the governments of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Russia’s Federal Security Service arrested 10 people whom it believes were behind a plot to launch Islamic State (ISIS / ISIL) terror attacks in Moscow and St Petersburg.

“As a result of the operative-search and investigatory actions, ten terrorists were detained on November 12 in Moscow and St. Petersburg,” the FSB said. “They had four self-made high-power explosives, which were confiscated.”

The would-be attackers planned on using both explosives and guns, according to Russian authorities.

“The detained are confessing contacts with leaders of the Islamic State terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia, in the Middle East region, targeted facilities, as well as allies and the supportive base both inside the Russian Federation and abroad.”

Those behind the plot were reportedly from Central Asia, with Russia thanking Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for their cooperation.

Internally, Russia faces an ongoing threat from ISIS, with the terror organization maintaining a strong presence in the Caucuses.

  20. SERBIA – Police, migrants scuffle on border between Serbia and Croatia

According to the UN refugee agency, around 6,400 migrants from countries such as Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan are registered in Serbia

SID, Serbia/TOVARNIK, Croatia, Nov 14 (Reuters) – A group of migrants scuffled with police on Monday as they tried to enter Croatia from Serbia and continue their way towards Western Europe.

Some 100 migrants broke a Serbian police cordon and tried to enter Croatia across fields, but were stopped by police forces from both countries who encircled them in the no-man’s-land, Reuters witness said.

The migrants, largely from Afghanistan and Pakistan, according to local media, marched for two days on the highway some 125 km (80 miles) from the Serbian capital Belgrade and arrived at the border on Sunday evening.

They said they did not want to return to reception centres in Serbia, complaining about living conditions, and demanded free passage to Western Europe. Croatia’s Interior Minister Vlaho Orepic said on Sunday Croatia would not allow illegal entry to the migrants.

Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojska Stefanovic said his country would not allow the migrants to block highways and border crossings to cross into “another country which would not take them.”

According to the U.N. refugee agency, around 6,400 migrants from countries such as Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan are registered in Serbia, but local non-governmental organisations say the number is close to 10,000.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/erdogan-hints-referendum-turkey-joining-eu-115422696.html

“Istanbul (AFP) – Accusing Brussels of wanting Turkey to abandon its bid to join the EU, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted in an interview published Sunday he might put the question to a referendum.

“The European Union is trying to compel us to withdraw from this (accession) process. If they don’t want us they should be clear about this, they should make a decision,” Erdogan told the leading daily Hurriyet.

“Our patience is not endless. If need be, later, we could also consult our people,” he said, alluding to the UK’s Brexit referendum in June.

Turkey’s bid to join the EU dates back to the 1960s with formal talks starting in 2005. But the process has been mired in problems, which current tensions have done nothing to help.

Rocky relations between Ankara and the EU became even more strained in the wake of the failed coup in Turkey in July…”

“A body of Muslim clerics in Mauritania has called for the death sentence to be carried out against a blogger convicted of apostasy in 2014.

Mauritania, an Islamic republic, has not applied a death penalty since 1987.

The Forum of Imams and Ulemas says Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ould Mkhaitir, 29, should be executed despite the fact that he repented for an article criticising Mauritania’s caste system.

The clerics want him to be killed according to the “law of God”.

The blogger was arrested in January 2014 for an article in which he lashed out at those who use religion as a means of discrimination against members of certain ethnic groups.

The article was later taken down as it was deemed blasphemous towards the Prophet Muhammad.
Mkhaitir then apologised and said he never meant to insult the Prophet.

Mauritania’s Supreme Court can pardon him if it feels his repentance is sincere.

But ahead of the court’s decision on Tuesday, the body of clerics said the blogger should not be shown any mercy…”

“Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned on Monday that Islamic State militants driven out of Syria and Iraq could set up in his country, and if that happened he would forego human rights obligations to keep his people safe.

Duterte said the southern Philippine province of Mindanao was already a hotbed of rebellion and banditry and he was worried about “looming terrorism” and an influx of extremists who could exploit the insecurity.

“Once the terrorists of the Middle East are deprived of the land area, the real estate area where they can sleep … they will wander to other places and they will come here and we have to prepare for that,” he said during a speech at a law enforcement agency.

The troops died in “unprovoked” firing overnight in the Bhimber sector on the Line of Control (LoC). There was no immediate response from India.

It is thought to be the Pakistani military’s biggest single loss of life in Kashmir since a 2003 truce.
Tensions have flared over the long-running dispute since an Indian army base was attacked in September.

  27. \??????/US Roman Catholic bishops are urging President-elect Donald Trump to adopt humane policies toward immigrants and refugees -\???????/ AP

The nation’s Roman Catholic bishops are urging President-elect Donald Trump to adopt humane policies toward immigrants and refugees.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said serving and welcoming people fleeing conflict and violence is part of their identity as Roman Catholics. Church leaders said they would continue to offer that aid.

Trump talked tough about immigration on the campaign trail, including proposing building a wall along the border of U.S. and Mexico and deporting the estimated 11 million people in the country illegally. He later distanced himself from those statements.

In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” broadcast Sunday night, he said he would focus on deporting people with criminal records beyond their immigration status.

Trump also has called to suspend the admission of Syrian refugees in the country.

The bishops made the plea Monday, at the start of their annual fall meeting in Baltimore.

“Russia has been successful in thwarting the activities of the Gulen movement on its territory, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus told Sputnik on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Gulen movement, also referred to as the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) by Turkish security services, is led by Turkish Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen who has been living in exile in the United States since 1999.

“Russia is in a better position as it was able to see the danger of the organization from the very beginning and thwart its activities on the Russian territory. We will seek to improve our cooperation with the Russian side on fighting FETO in the future,” Kurtulmus said. Turkey has been sharing information on Gulen’s organization with other parties over the past three years, he added,

stressing that the country remains open for cooperation with any country in fighting against FETO. “The main and the most difficult task in this fight is to identify schools financed by the structure, its trade and economic links,” Kurtulmus said, noting that the organization has been successful in infiltrating military and political structures in Asia, Africa and Europe.

Gulen’s followers have been accused by Ankara of being behind the July 15 military coup attempt by members of the Turkish military. Thousands of officials, chiefly education and legal employees, have been dismissed by Turkish authorities since the coup over alleged ties to FETO.

Gulen, however, has himself denounced the coup and declared his innocence of ties to its perpetrators. At the same time, Kurtulmus hopes that the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump will take necessary steps to extradite Fethullah Gulen to Turkey…”

MADRID (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Trump said in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” show that he would deport up to three million undocumented migrants with criminal records from the United States.

“We will wait and see. But it is a bad signal,” Dastis was quoted as saying by the Europe Press news agency.

  31. From Cradle to Grave: The Lifecycle of Foreign Fighters in Iraq and Syria
he Combating Terrorism Center is pleased to announce the release of another major report on foreign fighters. This report, From Cradle to Grave: The Lifecycle of Foreign Fighters in Iraq and Syria, breaks down the experience (or lifecycle) of foreign fighters into three stages: pre-departure, in theater, and return. However, because the personnel records used in the previous report do not speak to each of these stages, this report then uses open-source reporting on these fighters to code variables in each of these different stages. Using a dataset of nearly 1,200 foreign fighters from mostly Western Europe and North America, this report offers a more holistic examination of what the fighter flows look like, but also what challenges policymakers and practitioners will face as they continue to deal with this enduring and complicated problem.

  32. (unconfirmed report) Russian Navy MiG-29K lost in Mediterranean

Reports from sources available to Combat Aircraft suggest that a Russian Navy Mikoyan MiG-29KR/KUBR naval fighter crashed in the Mediterranean during operations from the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov yesterday afternoon, November 13.

The aircraft apparently came down close to the carrier on its return from a mission flown over Syria. Wreckage of the aircraft has been recovered, as was the pilot, although there is currently no confirmation regarding his condition.

Initial indications are that the aircraft was a two-seat MiG-29KUBR version. Operated by the 100th Independent Shipborne Fighter Aviation Regiment, a total of four MiG-29KR/KUBRs were understood to be on board the carrier.

If confirmed, the news would deal a significant blow to the debut combat deployment of the Admiral Kuznetsov, which was expected to commence air strikes against rebel-held areas of Aleppo, as the Syrian regime pushes for the final liberation of the city, with Russian air support.

The deployment of the carrier to the eastern Mediterranean is expected to allow Russian Navy Aviation to evaluate and test its recently delivered MiG-29KR/KUBR multi-role fighters, as well as its newly modernized Sukhoi Su-33 shipborne fighters.

Video posted on social media suggests that elements of the MiG-29KR/KUBR contingent were flying over Syria as of November 12.

Full details of the Admiral Kuznetsov deployment and the embarked air group will appear in the January issue of Combat Aircraft.

  34. MINNEAPOLIS -No additional prison time for Minnesota ISIS recruit Abdullahi Yusuf

    – Abdullahi Yusuf, the first of 9 ISIS recruits from Minnesota facing sentencing this week, will walk out of court a free man Monday. Yusuf has been in custody for 22 months. Federal prosecutors asked Judge Michael Davis to impose a sentence of 42 months total — 15 additional months – but Judge Davis decided on time served, plus 20 years of supervised release.

The judge worried about the U.S. prison system, which has no programs in place to rehabilitate Yusuf. “I think we’ll miss the opportunity to help this young kid,” Judge Davis said.

Judge Davis grew emotional as he prepared to hand down his sentence to Yusuf, telling the court, “This is so difficult.” Just before sentencing, Davis said, “I’m going to take that chance. I’m going to take that chance.”

Yusuf, 20, will be placed in a halfway house, where he must remain for up to one year with electronic monitoring. Monday morning, Yusuf took the stand to apologize.

“I no longer believe in that ideology nor would I ever consider it again,” Yusuf said. “The only reason I’m alive today is because I was stopped at the airport.”

    The arrest

On May 28th, 2014, Yusuf was stopped at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport trying to board a flight to Turkey. Yusuf pleaded guilty in Feb. 2015 to conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. In May 2016, he became one of the star witnesses in the federal trial exploring the recruitment efforts of ISIS in Minnesota.

    Letters of support

Ahead of the sentencings, 13 letters were sent to Judge Michael Davis in the case of defendant Abdirahman Yasin Daud, including a letter from state Rep. Ilhan Omar, who on Election Night became with first elected Somali-American lawmaker in the nation.

Rep. Omar asked Judge Davis for “compassion” and a “restorative approach to justice,” concluding that “this ruling can set a precedent and has the potential to be a landmark case in addressing extremism.”
    Read a complete copy of Rep. Omar’s letter. ( http://www.fox9.com/news/216809372-story )

Daud was one of two young men from the Twin Cities arrested in San Diego in April 2015 in an alleged plot to buy fake passports for travel to Syria. Federal prosecutors requested 30 years in prison for Daud, with a lifetime of supervised release.

The defense has pushed Judge Davis for lighter sentences, saying the young, immigrant men were caught between two worlds – the United States and pride in their Somali heritage. The defense argued the young men were lured by propaganda on the internet that suggested that a “true Muslim” should be in Syria saving other Muslims who are being killed and trying to restore the Caliphate.

But responses filed by federal prosecutors last Thursday show the feds are holding firm on their request for tough sentences. In this case of defendant Guled Omar, prosecutors said the young man attempted to “make light of what is an extraordinarily dangerous conspiracy. Far from comedians engaged in slapstick comedy in black and white film, ISIL’s members engage in wholesale murder, rape, and cultural annihilation. But unlike the Three Stooges referenced by counsel for Omar, ISIL films in full color.”

    Sentencing breakdown

The 9 defendants are facing a wide range of sentences. The 3 men who were convicted of trying to join ISIS could get between 30 or 40 years in prison. Four others who pled guilty are facing a recommended sentence of 15 years in prison. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is suggesting about 4 years in prison for the two men who cooperated with prosecutors.

Sentencing hearings have been set for Nov. 14, Nov. 15 and Nov. 16. The following is a list of recommendations, pertaining to each defendant:

Mohamed Abdihamid Farah: Prosecution requested 30 years in prison and lifetime of supervised release.

Abdirahman Yasin Daud: Prosecution requested 30 years in prison, lifetime of supervised release.

Guled Omar: Prosecutors requested 40 years in prison. Defense requested 15 years.

Hanad Mustafe Musse: Prosecution requested 15 years imprisonment, and lifetime of supervised release. Defense requested 72 months.

Adnan Abdihamid Farah: Prosecution requested 15 years imprisonment and lifetime of supervised release.

Hamza Naj Ahmed: Prosecution requested 15 years of imprisonment and lifetime of supervised release. Defense requested half-way house, also has motion to seal sentencing report.

Zacharia Yusuf Abdurahman: Prosecution requested 15 years prison and lifetime of supervised release.

Abdirizak Mohamed Warsame: A cooperating defendant, prosecutors recommended 54 months in prison.

Abdullahi Mohamed Yusuf: A cooperating defendant, prosecutors recommended 42 months in prison. Judge sentenced Yusuf to time served, plus 20 years of supervised release.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen spoke to the press in Brussels on Monday, ahead of a summit with their European counterparts.

Speaking on the US elections, Ayrault said to reporters, “Is this the return of isolationism? This will not be a good thing for either the United States or for the world. But isolationism can also develop nationalism, one of the biggest dangers in this world today, which also applies in Europe, the rise of nationalism, which we have to be extremely careful with.”

Ursula von der Leyen, German Defence Minister (German): “Independently from the outcome of the US elections, it was always clear to us that Europe has to take more responsibility on its shoulders, both inside the NATO as part of the European compartment of NATO, and as well inside the European Union as part of the European Defence Union, there we will take the deciding step today. How altogether our American friends will establish themselves in NATO, the new administration must answer that question. For us is clear, Europe will have to take more responsibility.”

  36. RNC Member Randy Evans Tears Into Kate Bolduan Over Steve Bannon Says Reading DNC Talking Points 19

    • Horowitz: Anti-Bannon Hysteria More Evidence the Left Has Lost Touch with the American People

The losers of the left have worked themselves into such a bizarre hysteria over the fact that they lost the White House that they have lost all connection to reality and are now hyping their most ludicrously paranoid fantasies.

The function of this lunacy is to put off the inevitable moment when they are going to come back to Earth and reckon with the fact that they were horribly wrong and the American people have rejected them. For them, Stephen K. Bannon is the straw man of the hour.

I can’t think of anything stupider than the charge coming from all quarters of the left–including a headline in the pathetically wretched Huffington Post–that Bannon is an anti-Semite. The source? A one sentence claim from an angry ex-wife in divorce court no less, that Bannon didn’t want their kids to go to school with Jews. I find that particularly amusing since Bannon wanted to make a film to celebrate this Jew’s life.

Not to be outdone, CNN, which has been particularly vicious, did a nasty attack on Bannon using another of the thinnest reeds available: This was a headline at Breitbart.com calling Bill Kristol a “renegade Jew.” In fact, neither Breitbart nor Bannon is responsible for that statement. A Jew is. I wrote the article, which was neither requested nor commissioned by Breitbart. And I wrote the headline: “Bill Kristol, Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew.”

I wrote the article when Kristol set out to lead the “Never Trump” movement, after Trump had secured the Republican nomination. I would write it again in a heartbeat. I would write it the same way and with the same headline. Bill Kristol and his friends betrayed the Republican Party, betrayed the American people, and betrayed the Jews when he set out to undermine Trump and elect the criminal Hillary Clinton. Obama and Hillary are supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization that launched the Arab drive to destroy Israel and push its Jews into the sea (that was their slogan).

If Obama and Hillary had their way, Egypt’s leader al-Sisi would be overthrown, the Brotherhood would be back in power, and Israel would be facing a threat from the biggest military power in the Middle East and almost certainly at war with Islamic terrorists who openly call for the extermination of the Jews.

I have known Steve Bannon for many years. This is a good man. He does not have an Anti-Semitic bone in his body. In his new position as Chief Strategist in the Trump White House, Bannon is the strongest assurance that people who love this country can have in America’s future, the strongest assurance that America is in the hands of people who will give this country a chance to restore itself and defend itself against its enemies at home and abroad.

      • Being a Jew by no means inoculates a person against anti-Semitism. Au contraire! And Horowitz knows it!

Judaism and leftism are mutually exclusive, but secular, ethnic Jews – DNA Jews? bagel & lox Jews? – use racial identity for street cred. It’s irritating. Like calling jihadis “crazy” is unfair to bonafide nutters.

That manipulative title is a tactic from Horowitz’s red-diaper days. I read that article when it was published, found it distasteful. I was asked to explain it every time I spoke to church groups until a different distraction arose.

    • strong>Amid Outrage Over Stephen Bannon, F.B.I. Reports Surge in Hate Crimes

Hate crimes surge, led by attacks on Muslims.

[…]“We need to do a better job of tracking and reporting hate crime to fully understand what is happening in our communities and how to stop it,” James B. Comey Jr., the F.B.I. director, said Monday.

      Bernie Sanders speaks out.

[…] he also said that the new role of Stephen K. Bannon in the Trump White House as senior counselor and chief strategist should make the country “very nervous.” The country has battled “discrimination and racism and sexism and homophobia” for hundreds of years, he said in an interview on ABC’s “The View” program on Monday, and the country could not afford to move backward.

“We’re going to tell Mr. Bannon and any other advisers that we’re not going to be turning on each other,” Mr. Sanders said. “We’re going to be standing together.”

Indignation is seen over Bannon appointment.

Civil rights groups, Democrats and some Republicans on Monday denounced President-elect Trump’s decision to appoint Mr. Bannon to the top White House position, warning that he represents nationalist and racist views that should be rejected by the incoming president.

  37. Stopping The Global Jihad: Why Is The U.S. Failing?
The hope that a President Trump represents.

This writer is one of the numbed masses of people who have spent their entire adult lives witnessing mass atrocity after mass atrocity committed against Americans around the world and on U.S. soil by evil persons acting in the name of Allah. Actually, attacks by militant Islamists on Americans go all the way back to the administrations of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Those attacks on American ships and sailors off the coast of what is today Libya were finally stopped by the Marines led by Stephen Decatur. Fast forward to World War I. At that time, the U.S. joined with Britain and France to fight against, and defeat, the aggression of the Central Powers of Europe that were allied with the Islamic Ottoman Empire. Only after that victory was this last caliphate dismantled into the various Islamic nation-states we now find in the Middle East.

The post-World War I decades have seen the expansion of Arab oil wealth and continued internecine quarrels within the divided Arab world. Further, Islamist aggression internally and against the West – nay, against the entire world — has not only continued but grown exponentially with each passing decade since 1918.

During October 1983, 241 U.S. troops were massacred in Lebanon by Hezbollah (as well as 58 French troops at a different location). President Reagan, for many citizens the very incarnation of the warrior spirit, nonetheless, by Feb. 1984 withdrew all remaining U.S. troops from Lebanon. Thirty years later, relatives of the soldiers killed in that attack were awarded $2.65 billion in reparations in a lawsuit against Iran, but have yet to see any of that money. At the same time, President Obama has negotiated a deal with Iran releasing $150 billion in frozen Iranian assets to Iran from various financial institutions as part of a new so-called detente with that malignant terrorist nation. And, by the way, Iran is still on our State Department list of state sponsors of terrorism.

  38. Soros and Other Far Leftists Instigate Revolution Against Trump
Soros believes his vision of an “open society” trumps self-government.

George Soros and other left wing advocates are seeking to foment a “Purple Revolution” against those who dared to reject their preferred presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and vote instead for President-elect Donald Trump. After all, Soros alone is reported to have “committed $25 million dollars to the 2016 campaign of Hillary Clinton,” and refuses to accept that his investment was wasted. What’s a few hundred million more to pay for imposing his preferred result through civil unrest rather than through the ballot box? As Zero Hedge explains, “The Purple Revolution will…seek to make the Trump administration a short one through Soros-style street protests and political disruption.”

Left wing groups, some supported by Soros, are even paying protesters to take part in disruptive demonstrations.

Of course, Soros is doing his best to keep his fingerprints off the protests, as a hedge in the event that violence continues to spread. “George Soros is not funding these (anti Trump) protests,” Soros spokesperson Michael Vachon said in an interview. “This is a fiction promoted by the alt-right.”

The problem for the Soros shadow government network is that it has a long established blueprint abroad for the kind of disruptive organized actions it appears to be supporting in the United States. Soros has plenty of history in disrupting economies (recall Soros’ “break the Bank of England”) and undermining governments in countries whose citizens’ democratically elected choices he opposes (Poland, for example).

  39. Israel Watches Ominous Developments in Syria with Wary Eye
Rising enemies in a volatile region.

Last Friday, a senior Iranian general confirmed that the Islamic Republic was manufacturing weapons including rockets in Aleppo and that some of those rockets were transferred to Hezbollah, bolstering the terror group’s already formidable stockpiles. The revelation of Iranian military production facilities in a foreign country was the first such acknowledgement by a senior Iranian official.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army, Major General Mohammad Bagheri noted that Iran’s production of missiles in Syria began in 2002 and that rockets manufactured at the Aleppo facility were transferred to Hezbollah during the 2006 Lebanon War also known as the Second Lebanon War. During that 33-day conflict, Hezbollah fired in excess of 4,000 rockets at Israel. Since the Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah, primarily with Iranian assistance, has increased its rocket and missile arsenal tenfold, from 12,000 to an estimated 120,000.

The general’s acknowledgement provides us with some sense of how entrenched the Iranians are in Syria and how they’re utilizing Syrian resources to supply their proxies. It is believed that the Iranians are employing between 7,000 to 10,000 Hezbollah operatives in Syria. Hezbollah represents one of four foreign pillars propping up the Assad regime and his flagging army. Iran maintains a military force of between 13,000 to 16,000 soldiers and, aside from Hezbollah, is believed to have recruited some 40,000 foreign fighters from Middle Eastern and Central Asian states. Russia maintains a sizable air and naval presence in Syria, supplemented by Special Forces and electronic warfare specialists.

  40. Top ISIS recruiter in Italy Fezzani arrested (2) (ansa, Nov 14, 2016)

“Rome, November 14 – A Tunisian terrorist thought to be a major recruiter in Italy for the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) extremist group has been captured in Sudan, Italian anti-terrorism sources said Monday.

Moez Ben Abdulgader Ben Ahmed al-Fezzani, also known as Abu Nassim, was part of a Milan-based group called the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat that recruited fighters for conflict zones between 1997 and 2001.

Italian intelligence services tracked him down in Sudan since he was being sought on an international arrest warrant after he was handed a definitive conviction for terrorist criminal association in 2014 and sentenced to five years eight months in prison.

Fezzani was initially acquitted at a first-instance trial and deported in 2012.

Born in Tunis in 1969, Fezzani has been a known militant in Ansar al-Sharia Tunisia, a satellite of Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda, for the past 20 years. He was first captured in 2002, detained at Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. base in Afghanistan, then extradited to Italy.

After his deportation in 2012 he resurfaced in Libya, where he trained aspiring Islamist combatants. He was also spotted in Syria in summer 2013, and was being sought by Tunisia as the mastermind of the March, 2015 Bardo Museum terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 22 European tourists as well as a mass shooting in June that year at a tourist complex near the Tunisian city of Sousse, in which 38 people died.”
