  1. SHOCKING SPAIN TERROR MAP: Popular holiday hotspots blighted by Islamic extremist cells (express, Oct 19, 2016)

“THESE are the Spanish holiday hotspots popular with British sunseekers that have been blighted by Islamic extremist cells.

Terror maps published by the Ministry of the Interior show favourite island destinations like Majorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, as well as tourist-magnet resorts on the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca, have all seen special security operations and several arrests in a crackdown on Islamic jihadists.

The maps shows Spanish security forces took part in 186 anti-terror raids and carried out 186 arrests since 2012.

The number of arrests so far this year stands at 47 from 24 operations.

Anti-terror swoops have been carried out across the length and breadth of the mainland and as well as on the Balearics and Canary Islands.

The maps shows 50 suspects were detained in 22 operations carried in Barcelona over the last four years while Spanish capital Madrid saw 26 arrests in eight anti-terror raids over the same period.

More than a dozen arrests have been made since 2012 along the popular holiday resort region of Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca.

The maps have been published on the website of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.

A spokesman for the ministry said the information was being released in response to demands from the public.

The spokesman said: “The website of the Ministry of the Interior has two infographics that reflect all operations and arrests of jihadist terrorism in Spain this year, so that everyone can see graphically where the arrests practiced by security forces have taken place.

“These two maps with details for provinces and municipalities include the distribution of operations and arrests in 2016 and the fight against jihadism since 2012.”

Islamists inspired by Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda murderous extremist group were responsible for Spain’s deadliest terror attack on the morning of March 11 2004 when 192 people were killed and more than 2,000 injured as ten explosions ripped through four commuter trains in Madrid.”

  2. Asylum seeker admits killing wife in front of his daughter – but BEGS not to be sent home (express, Oct 19, 2016)

“AN asylum seeker is fighting a legal battle against deportation after admitting to choking his wife to death while his young daughter watched on.

The 25-year-old admitted to suffocating his wife after she came home with a red rose, leading him to believe the young woman had cheated on him.

He then tore up the rose, and sent a picture of it to the man he accused of the affair.

Prosecutor Adam Rullman said:“We have checked that his statement is consistent with the technical evidence and it is.

“He has explained he believed she was meeting another man and that she wanted a divorce.

“After that he went drown to the lake to drown himself.”

But as he was about to leave his home to commit suicide, he realised that his daughter was witness to the crime.

During a police interrogation he said: “Then I went back to the neighbours and asked them to call the police so they would arrest me.”

The police later found the 22-year-old victim dead on the floor of the asylum accommodation in Mariannelund, Sweden.

But despite admitting to the crime and the horrific ordeal of his daughter, the man is fighting a legal battle to remain in Sweden because he is concerned about what may happen to him when he returns to his home country.

His lawyer said: “It is my client’s opinion that the incident should be classified as manslaughter and he is opposed to expulsion [from Sweden] – mainly because of what would happen to him if it was enforced.”

The suspect is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation before his trial proceeds.”

  4. 80 migrants leave Calais ‘Jungle’ camp for university (thelocal, Oct 19, 2016)

“Eighty migrants have left the Calais Jungle camp behind for studies at the University of Lille.

The migrants, the vast majority of whom are Sudanese, left the camp on Tuesday to start an intensive course to learn French.

“After the initial training period, they can pursue a traditional university curriculum in the field of their choice,” Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said in a statement.

The move comes as part of France’s efforts to dismantle the camp in Calais, where up to 9,000 people are understood to be living.

A professor at the university kick started the project, which has been put into action by the Auberge des migrants aid group and the local government…”

  5. Up to 90 percent of failed asylum seekers ‘not deported’ (thelocal, Oct 19, 2016)

“Up to 90 percent of failed asylum seekers are not being deported from Austria because their countries of origin will not agree to readmit them, according to Defence Minister Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ).

He said the problem was particularly acute with migrants from African countries.

“At the moment, it doesn’t make much difference whether someone gets a negative or positive decision on their asylum application because we are unable to implement any decision in between 80 and 90 percent of cases,” Doskozil said. He added that the issue is pressing as it’s estimated that the population of Africa will “double by 2050”, and people will continue to try and flee poverty and persecution.

Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) agrees with him: “We will have to live with this migration issue… maybe for years, or decades.”

Sobotka supports the resettlement model, which would allow EU countries to select refugees from UNHCR camps in conflict regions and relocate them in Europe. The resettlement system is used by Australia, the USA and Canada.

In July 2015 EU member states agreed to resettle 22,000 refugees directly from conflict areas within two years. At the time, Austria said it would accept a further 400 refugees through this system, but so far not a single person has arrived in Austria this way.

After the migrant crisis reached a peak last year, EU member states became reluctant to accept more migrants and some began imposing restrictions. Austria received the bloc’s second-highest number of asylum requests on a per-capita basis last year, and has capped applications for this year at 37,500.”
