SEOUL: North Korea is ready to conduct another nuclear test at any time, South Korea’s defence ministry said on Monday, just days after Pyongyang sparked worldwide condemnation with its fifth and most powerful test.
“An additional test could be conducted in a tunnel that branches off from the second tunnel or in the third tunnel, where preparations have been completed,” ministry spokesman Moon Sang-Gyun told reporters.

The French prime minister has said the country’s security services are foiling terror plots and dismantling militant networks “every day”.
Manuel Valls said about 15,000 people were being monitored for radicalisation as the country continues its drive against jihadist militants.
Previously the authorities said about 10,000 were identified as high-risk.
A boy of 15 was arrested at his home in Paris on Saturday on suspicion of planning an attack over the weekend.
Investigators said he had been under surveillance since April and he had been in touch with a French member of so-called Islamic State (IS), Rachid Kassim.
France has been under a state of emergency since IS attacks on Paris in November killed 130 people in what President Francois Hollande called an “act of war”.
However, a recent commission of inquiry found the state of emergency was only having a “limited impact” on improving security.

“CHILDREN as young as nine are being labelled as potential radical extremists and reported to the Government every day, it has been revealed.
The revelation comes as figures show the number of referrals to authorities has leapt by 75 per cent in a year.
A total of 4,611 people were flagged up for possible intervention under terror legislation – with half of them being children and teenagers.

Ministers are aiming to broaden the unduly lenient sentence scheme – whereby members of the public can demand a judge review a sentencing.

A fire that broke out early Monday at the Fort Pierce mosque where Orlando massacre shooter Omar Mateen prayed and worshipped is considered arson, according to investigators.
“Evidence has revealed that this fire was set intentionally,” St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Major David Thompson told reporters.
A 911 call about 12:30 a.m. alerted authorities that flames were coming out of Islamic Center of Fort Pierce, 1104 W. Midway Road.
There were no injuries reported and the extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

According to Thompson, investigators were able to find surveillance video that shows someone approaching the east side of the Islamic Center.
“Immediately after the individual approached, a flash occurred and the individual fled the area,” he said.
He said the sheriff’s office is asking the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to join the investigation currently underway by local authorities and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Additionally, technicians are working to enhance the surveillance video so it can be released to the public in order to turn up leads in the case.
Mateen, who lived in Fort Pierce, killed 49 people at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub in June and was known to worship at the mosque. Mateen was killed in a shootout with police.
Leaders at the Islamic Center have said that since the nightclub shooting the facility has received threats and that security had been stepped up.
Thompson said he did not know if there was any connection between the blaze and the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
“It has been peaceful here,” he said. “We have had open and clear communication with the folks at the Islamic Center, and we have received no recent threats.
“A fire at any place of worship is alarming,” Thompson said, “regardless of the circumstances.”
In a statement posted to its Facebook page about 8 a.m. Monday, the Fort Pierce Islamic Center said, “It is with a very heavy heart that we have to announce that last night around midnight, there was an arson attack on our Mosque.”
The statement advised those planning to attend the Eid Prayer to go to another Fort Pierce mosque.
“Please keep us in your Du’as and prayers,” the statement concluded. Du’as is defined as invocation or act of supplication.
Monday is the beginning of Eid al-Adha, the four-day Islamic festival of sacrifice. Because of the extra traffic that was anticipated, Thompson said sheriff’s deputies were scheduled to be on hand to assist with parking and traffic flow.

China and Russia were to start war games in the South China Sea on Monday, Beijing’s defence ministry said, in a show of force after an international tribunal invalidated the Asian giant’s extensive claims in the area.
The eight-day joint drills will include exercises on “seizing and controlling” islands and shoals, Chinese navy spokesman Liang Yang said in a statement.
They will involve surface ships, submarines, fixed-wing aircraft, ship-borne helicopters, marine corps and amphibious armoured equipment from both navies, he said.
“Compared with previous joint drills, these exercises are deeper and more extensive in terms of organisation, tasks and command” he said in the statement, released Sunday.

US military: Iranian behavior getting worse in Persian Gulf
Iran has stepped up its harassment of U.S. Navy ships in the Persian Gulf, angering the U.S. military and members of Congress.
Since the international nuclear deal with Iran was implemented in early January, the number of incidents involving U.S. and Iranian ships in the Gulf has approximately doubled.

The Navy has counted at least 31 interactions with Iranian naval forces deemed “unsafe,” “unprofessional,” or both, according to a defense official.
That’s about as many such interactions that occurred all of last year, according to statistics provided to Fox News.
And those are also only counting interactions that have met the criteria of “unsafe” or “unprofessional.”
Overall, there were more than 300 interactions between U.S. and Iranian forces last year.
That figure includes incidents in which Iranian vessels waited for and followed U.S. ships transiting in the Persian Gulf, or sailed by with their weapons uncovered, in addition to other incidents of muscle flexing considered routine.
Military officials say there is no question that the behavior is getting worse.
“We’ve seen an uptick in confrontations by Iranian vessels in the Arabian Gulf,” Army Gen. Joseph Votel, the top U.S. commander in the region, said on Aug. 30. U.S. military officials refer to the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf.

Turkey removes two dozen elected mayors in Kurdish militant crackdown
DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (Reuters) – Turkey appointed new administrators in two dozen Kurdish-run municipalities on Sunday after removing their elected mayors over suspected links to militants, triggering pockets of protest in its volatile southeastern region bordering Syria and Iraq.
Police fired water cannon and tear gas to disperse demonstrators outside local government buildings in Suruc on the Syrian border as new administrators took over, security sources said. There were smaller protests elsewhere in the town.
There were also disturbances in the main regional city of Diyarbarkir and in Hakkari province near the Iraqi border, where police entered the municipality building and unfurled a large red Turkish flag, taking down the white local government flags that had previously flown.
President Tayyip Erdogan said this week the campaign against Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants, who have waged a three-decade insurgency for Kurdish autonomy, was now Turkey’s largest ever. The removal of civil servants linked to them was a key part of the fight.
The 24 municipalities had been run by the pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the third largest in parliament, which denies direct links to the militants. It decried the move as an “administrative coup”.

Duterte says he wants U.S. special forces out of southern Philippines
MANILA (Reuters) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday called for the withdrawal of U.S. military from a restive southern island, fearing an American troop presence could complicate offensives against Islamist militants notorious for beheading Westerners.
Duterte, who was in the spotlight last week over his televised tirade against the United States and President Barack Obama, said special forces now training Filipino troops were high-value targets for the Islamic State-linked Abu Sayyaf as counter-insurgency operations intensify.
“These special forces, they have to go,” Duterte said in a speech during an oath-taking ceremony for new officials.
“I do not want a rift with America. But they have to go.”

Around 5 p.m. yesterday, CNN sounded the “all-clear” vis-à-vis Hillary Clinton’s health. The Deomcratic nominee had been examined by Lisa Bardack, her personal physician, who diagnosed her condition as pneumonia. Mrs. Clinton is already on the road to recovery, viewers were assured, and will be campaigning — and falling down — soon.
OK, the wording of my paranthetical prognosis is crass. But it’s also accurate judging from other “episodes” has had sicne throwing her hate in the ring.
The difference between yesterday’s collapse into the back of a van and — say — her being helped up a flight of stairs of her home by a coterie of Secret Service personnel earlier this year is one of publicity. The earlier episode was captured by a single professional photographer who was present. Yesterday’s incident happened at a very public event with numerous eyewitnesses, many with camera phones that to chronicle her struggles.
Before yesterday, the Clinton campaign studiously ignored speculation about her health because they could afford to. Her bouts of illness had been isolated, and Team Clinton could sit back and allow their acolytes in the mainstream media to accuse the Right of conspiracy theories. Yesterday, Hillary became ill on national TV, which required an explanation. Hence, the diagnosis of pneumonia.
But if you check out this morning’s headlines, you find that regardless of her doctor’s claim, red flags have been raised. “Physical weakness caught on camera turns health conspiracy into a legitimate campaign concern,” notes Politico in the subhead of an article. “Hillary Clinton’s worrisome wobble” is the headline the Los Angeles Times had chosen for its commentary on yesterday’s episode.

Obama extends ‘warmest wishes’ to Muslims celebrating Eid al-Adha
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama on Monday extended their “warmest wishes” to Muslims around the world celebrating Eid al-Adha, calling the holiday a time for people to come together.
In a statement released by the president, Obama said the holiday is a time to “honor the sacrifice, resolve, and commitment to God demonstrated by Abraham.”
“It marks the end of the pilgrimage of Hajj performed each year by millions of Muslims who journey from all corners of the world to Mecca as a testament to their faith,” Obama said in the statement.
“It is also a celebration of the ways faith can transcend any differences or boundaries and unite us under the banners of fellowship and love.”
The president then pivoted to addressing refugees forced to spend the holiday without their loved ones.
“As we mark Eid al-Adha this year, we are reminded of the millions of refugees around the globe who are spending this sacred holiday separated from their families, unsure of their future, but still hoping for a brighter tomorrow,” Obama said in the statement.
“And as a Nation, we remain committed to welcoming the stranger with empathy and an open heart—from the refugee who flees war-torn lands to the immigrant who leaves home in search of a better life,” he said.

“Asylum seekers from Syria, Iraq and other war-torn states who are registered as refugees and receive social benefits in Germany do not hesitate to opt for a “vacation” in their war-ravaged countries, a German media report has discovered.
The information was unveiled by the outlet Die Welt am Sonntag, citing its own investigation. The inquiry included testimonies from registered asylum seekers in Germany who are entitled to so-called HARTZ-IV social benefits. Some of them confirmed to the newspaper that they “traveled for a short period of time back to countries like Syria, Afghanistan or Lebanon.”
The paper reports that the situation has been witnessed in Berlin, but it is alleged that similar things are occurring in other Federal States of Germany.
“There are such cases,” an unnamed spokesperson for the German Federal Employment Office (BA) confirmed to the publication. The representative, however, stressed that no official numbers are available.
“We do not conduct any analysis or statistics on this subject and therefore we do not have any information,” the source added. The body is now trying to figure out the number of refugees opting for such a “vacation” in their homeland.
According to the current rules applying to asylum seekers claiming social benefits in Germany, they are eligible to leave the country for a total of 21 days per year. Migrants however are not obliged to report to authorities where they are traveling, but merely when and for how long.
“There is no legal ground to demand that information from him,” BA said, as quoted by Die Welt am Sonntag. Should authorities still get aware of a refugee heading back to states like Syria or Iraq, they are “not allowed to pass that information to other authorities due to the data privacy.”
However, it was reported that back in June the German Migration and Refugees Office (BAMF) called on State Employment agencies to report such cases. The agency made it clear that a “medical case” in the family of a migrant can be viewed as an exemption.
“In the case, however, when the journey is being conducted for leisure purposes, this may be an indication that the refugee fears no persecution,” BAMF added as quoted by the German outlet. That would in return lead to stripping of asylum status.
Armin Schuster, who is a German MP in the parliamentary committee for the interior said, “if true, that leaves one speechless.” The official also demanded that any such journey should be approved by BAMF.
Germany’s welcoming refugee policy, pushed forward by Chancellor Angela Merkel, has long been criticized by both her political rivals and allies. In July the Federal Criminal Police (BKA) revealed that the body has information about 410 leads on possible terrorists among asylum seekers in Germany. Germany has been hit by several violent attacks this summer, with three of them committed by refugees. In two cases the assailants pledged allegiance to Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).”

To the contrary, North Korea’s state media claimed that the test would enable North Korea to produce “a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power.”
The explosive power of North Korea’s latest test is estimated, subject to further verification, to be approximately double the size of North Korea’s last test conducted in January 2016 and five times the explosive power of its test conducted during the first year of President Obama’s presidency in 2009. Four of the five nuclear tests that North Korea has conducted occurred under Obama’s watch. According to experts, North Korea is likely by 2020 to be able to build a workable intercontinental missile fitted with a nuclear warhead, with enough nuclear material accumulated to build up to 100 such warheads. The New York Times has quoted one expert, who has traveled to North Korea and formerly directed the Los Alamos weapons lab in New Mexico, as saying that North Korea has made a strategic shift from regarding its nuclear weapons as mere bargaining chips to “deciding they need a nuclear weapons fighting force.” In any case, bargaining chip or not, North Korea has continually breached the previous promises it has made to freeze its nuclear activities in return for economic aid.

The two nuclear bombs dropped on Japan were known as “Little Boy” and “Fat Man.” The world today has two new nuclear bombs.
One is named “Fat Bill.” The other is named “Little Hillary.”
The “Bill Clinton” bomb is the one getting the most headlines as North Korea continues testing its nuclear weapons. The Communist dictatorship is on its fifth test already and achieved an explosion almost at the level of “Little Boy” which was dropped on Hiroshima.
North Korea has let it be known that this test has allowed it to produce standardized nuclear warheads “able to be mounted on strategic ballistic rockets” so that it can “produce at will and as many as it wants a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power.”
Kim doesn’t just want a nuke. He wants a lot of nukes. And at the rate he’s going, he will have them.

Is Comey Batting Cleanup for Clinton?

Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can’t remember certain details on her emails and on many issues she remains evasive. On the other hand, for some observers, FBI director James Comey has clarified recent actions in regard to the Democrats’ presidential candidate.
Comey released documents concerning Hillary Clinton’s emails on September 2, the afternoon before the Labor Day weekend, as Paul Ryan observed, the time when they were least likely to command attention. Comey defended the action and told reporters the FBI released the documents when they were ready. Those suggesting the FBI was being “political” or part of “some fix,” he wrote in a memo, “either don’t know us, or they are full of baloney (and maybe some of both).”
The FBI director also said that the decision not to recommend charges against Hillary Clinton was “not a cliff-hanger” and “there really wasn’t a prosecutable case.” Comey referred disparagingly to “all the chest-beating by people no longer in government.” That may be a reference to former Superior Court judge Andrew Napolitano, who described the FBI interview with Clinton as “very troubling.”
Napolitano counted five times in the report where the FBI lamented that it did not have the material it needed. “This is the FBI’s own fault,” Napolitano wrote. “This tepid FBI behavior is novel in modern federal law enforcement. It is inimical to public safety and the rule of law. It is close to misconduct in office by high-ranking FBI officials. Someone restrained the FBI.”

In a dramatic moment during a House hearing on Monday, Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz slapped an FBI official with a subpoena for all documents related to the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
“Will the FBI provide to Congress the full file with no redactions of personal identifiable information?” Chaffetz asked Jason Herring, the FBI’s acting assistant director of legislative affairs, during a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing.
“I cannot make that commitment sitting here today,” Herring said.
Chaffetz has sought all of the records related to the FBI’s Clinton email investigation, including all interview notes, which are referred to as 302s. Earlier this month, the FBI released a heavily-redacted report of its conclusions from the investigation.
The bureau also released Hillary Clinton’s 302 to the public. It gave Congress 302s from other witness interviews, but not all of them.
Chaffetz has taken issue with that withholding as well as the FBI’s decision to redact unclassified personally identifiable information in its report.
“I’m going to issue a subpoena, and I’m going to do it right now,” Chaffetz said to Herring after being told that he could not commit to handing over all of the documents.
“I’ve signed this subpoena. We want all the 302s, and we would like the full file.”
“You can accept service on behalf of the FBI?” Chaffetz asked, as an aide sitting behind him on the dais was seen leaving to server Herring.
“Certainly,” the federal official said.
“You are hereby served. We have a duty and a responsibility. You can cite no precedent. Nothing in the Constitution. No legal precedent. You know this is important to us. You now have your subpoena. We would all like to see this information,” said Chaffetz.
Herring said that the FBI had planned to release other 302s as part of the Freedom of Information Act process.

Today marks 15 years since Al-Qaeda attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, murdering 2, 977 people. Since that day, in 2001, at least another 1,000 people have died from illnesses caused by exposure to debris from the failing towers.
A US-led NATO taskforce invaded Afghanistan shortly afterwards to remove the Taliban, and to find and capture Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden is now dead, but Afghanistan is still at war. Al-Qaeda’s successor organization, the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL), has established a state of sorts across swathes of Syria and Iraq. Al-Qaeda itself is an active participant in Syria’s increasingly complicated civil war.

As reports of police overreach and brutality in the black community become more and more commonplace in mainstream news, many black people are feeling a strange combination of frustration and relief — relief because the shootings of unarmed citizens have become part of a national discussion, but frustration because, time and time again, we hear the same dismissive and deflective responses from white America:
“There must be more to the story.”
“If you people would just do what you’re told.”
“Cops have a hard job.”
“White people get shot too.”
“He was just another thug. Good riddance!”
“Why do you people make everything about race?”
“What about black on black crime?”
“All lives matter.”
I’ve grown too disillusioned to be relieved and too numb to be frustrated. I’m just tired.
I’m tired from sacrificing millions of once healthy brain cells reading through the comment sections of race-based web articles — thread after thread, chock-full of black folks trying to navigate oblivious whiteness. At some point, we really need to ask ourselves: Why even bother?
It seems the real truth is that whitey has grown tired of Blacks, and the Black commentariet just can’t accept that as the truth. Blacks can’t accept that that their own behavior is the cause of their own problems. Is it too much to ask for them to “act white” in the presence of police? They want others to talk about their crime as “Gun Violence” as if an external force caused them to shoot others; yet, in actuality, “Felonious Black Gunfire” (FBG) would be a 100% accurate description. “FBG”; if only the Chicago MSM could use that as the unvarnished truth in their reporting.
I shudder when I think of a stampede of Africans thundering over the Mexican border.

Former DNC chairman calls for Clinton contingency plan
It’s extremely unlikely Democrats will have to change the ticket. But even some Clinton allies say there should be a clearer process.
A former Democratic National Committee chairman says President Barack Obama and the party’s congressional leaders should immediately identify a potential successor candidate for Hillary Clinton for the off-chance a health emergency forces her out of the race.
“Now is the time for all good political leaders to come to the aid of their party,” said Don Fowler, who helmed the DNC from 1995 to 1997, during Bill Clinton’s presidency, and has backed Hillary Clinton since her 2008 presidential bid. “I think the plan should be developed by 6 o’clock this afternoon.”
Fowler said he expects Clinton to fully recover from her bout with pneumonia, which forced her to leave a Sept. 11 memorial event early and cancel an early-week fundraising swing. But he said the Democratic Party would be mistaken to proceed without a contingency plan. The party’s existing rules empower the DNC to name a replacement candidate but include few guidelines or parameters.
“It’s something you would be a fool not to prepare for,” he said in an interview on Monday. He added a note of caution, should Clinton attempt an expeditious return to the campaign trail.
“She better get well before she gets back out there because if she gets back out there too soon, it might happen again,” he said.
Fowler noted that at one of his first-ever DNC meetings, in 1972, he supported a decision to nominate Sargent Shriver — a member of the Kennedy clan — to replace Thomas Eagleton as George McGovern’s vice presidential nominee, the only time either major party has replaced one of its two national nominees.
Though that transition was relatively seamless, he said, replacing Clinton would be much more acrimonious and could lead to intense lobbying by loyalists to Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. That’s why, he argued, the party should be prepared.
“This is a different time, with a lot more people who like to express themselves and perhaps wrest control,” he said. “I’m sure some of the Sanders people would want to get into play and some of the Biden people. I think you’re likely to have at least discussions and perhaps controversy.”
The Clinton campaign and DNC did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Interim DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile said Sunday that she’s glad Clinton appeared to be feeling better and looks forward to “seeing her back out on the campaign trail and continuing on the path to victory.”
Former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, who served as general chairman of the DNC during the 2000 election, agreed that the party’s vacancy rules should be modernized, but he said that discussion should wait until after the election.
“There is absolutely no chance Hillary Clinton will withdraw from running for the presidency,” he said in a phone interview.
Rendell, a Clinton surrogate, said he’d battled through three bouts of walking pneumonia in his gubernatorial campaigns and called it a common ailment during grueling bids for office. He added that Clinton is likely to put to rest any concerns about her health when she appears alongside Trump at the debates.
“When Hillary Clinton participates in three debates, stands on her feet for 90 minutes in all of those debates … it will dispel any remaining doubts that any Americans have about her physical fitness to serve,” he said.
Rendell noted that Ronald Reagan appeared unsteady in his first debate against Walter Mondale in 1984, and some speculated about his health at the time. But by the second debate, he had bounced back.
“He performed 100 percent, was at the top of his game,” Rendell recalled, suggesting the second debate erased all memory of his first performance. Reagan went on to win that year in a landslide.
There are still plenty of unknowns about Clinton’s bout with pneumonia, following her near-collapse after leaving Sunday’s Sept. 11 memorial service in New York City. But if her ailment were to persist and prevent Clinton from continuing as a candidate, it would trigger an obscure Democratic Party mechanism that would plunge the presidential race into turmoil.
It’s an extremely unlikely scenario; Clinton’s team says she’ll continue her march toward Election Day later this week. In addition, the campaign plans to make more detailed medical records available soon, a spokesman announced Monday morning.
But just as Trump’s late-summer swoon had Republicans wondering about his ability to continue his campaign, Clinton’s sudden health care scare has skittish Democrats contemplating contingencies as well.
If Clinton could not physically continue her candidacy, she would have to voluntarily cede her nomination, creating a vacancy at the top of the national ticket. If she did, party procedures give the chair of the DNC authority to call a “special meeting” to vote on a replacement nominee. In this case, because chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in July, her successor, Brazile, has that authority.
“The locus of activity for all of those political questions would then move to the 447 members of the Democratic National Committee,” said Elaine Kamarck, a two-decade veteran of the DNC Rules Committee. “And it’s wide open, and all of the political concern would work out in the context of discussions among the members of the DNC.”
Fowler argued that the party would be wise to immediately set up an even more detailed process for those who might seek to be Clinton’s successor — from a signature-gathering requirement to a process for receiving nominations during the DNC meeting. All of which, he said, would help ensure confidence in the process and lead toward a broad coalescing around a successor candidate.
“There should be a concerted, unified effort on behalf of the president and the Democratic leaders in the House and the Senate and from the officials of the DNC as well — I think unanimity would be absolutely critical,” he said. “The quicker that unanimity develops, the easier and better the process.”
Kamarck noted that the process hasn’t changed in the decades since Eagleton was replaced over mental health concerns. But Fowler said the politics surrounding the top of the ticket would be more intense — and he noted that any change would occur a few weeks later in the campaign season than the switch in 1972. It would likely take two to three weeks to convene the DNC for a special meeting, he said, and intense wrangling could be paralyzing.
Though typically DNC rules permit members to appoint proxies to vote for them if they can’t appear in person, it’s prohibited when voting “to fill a vacancy on the National ticket,” per the party’s bylaws.
Similarly, though only 40 percent of DNC members are typically required to be present at meetings — with another 10 percent voting by proxy — a vote to replace a national nominee requires a majority of the full committee present.
Another challenge: Most states have passed the deadline to change the names of candidates on their ballots, meaning Clinton’s name would likely be required to appear, short of court-ordered solutions or changes in state laws.
Kamarck argues that this issue will be moot because it’s up to members of the Electoral College — typically loyal partisans — to cast formal ballots for president. If a replacement for Clinton were offered, those electors in states won by Democrats would almost certainly cast ballots for the party’s preferred nominee.
Still, Clinton’s campaign is going to great lengths to quash any talk that she won’t fully bounce back.
“I think by the middle of the week she’ll be out there campaigning as aggressively as ever,” Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said on Monday.

Rose brought up the video of Hillary Clinton getting into the van and said, “When you look at that collapse… you wonder if it’s not more serious than dehydration.”
“If it is,” Clinton said, “it’s a mystery to me and all of her doctors.”
He assured that she just occasionally gets dehydrated but it hasn’t slowed her down at all, while making it clear she’ll be back on the trail ASAP.

Rifle shooting, as a practical matter, is a mostly white activity. But I will note that Walt Williams states he was trained as a sniper and Tom Sowell said he was a .45 pistol instructor.

Teach them young and teach them right and they will never handle firearms incorrectly or stay around people who do. If you start teaching them when they are 18 like so many of the gun grabbers want it will take a very long time to get them to ignore what they learned from the TV shows and the Movies.
My parents got me into Tae Kwon Do as the home-school alternative for physical fitness.
I’d like formal education curricula to include swimming proficiency, martial arts, and guns.…though that would cut into kids’ time for online social life…

EU to slash funds to Eastern Europe to step up migration budget
BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union countries agreed on Monday to slash funds from next year’s EU budget to poor regions of the bloc, mostly in the east, while increasing spending to manage migration flows and spur growth.
In an unprecedented wave of migration last year, 1.3 million people reached the southern shores of the EU, heading mainly to Germany from Greece and Italy.
A European Commission proposal to increase funds to address the migrant crisis in the EU budget for 2017 was fully backed by EU governments. That will result in a nearly 25 percent spike in migration and security payments compared with this year’s budget, the Council of EU governments said in a note on Monday.
The migration budget for next year would total 5.2 billion euros, with funds to be spent on reinforcing external borders, resettling asylum seekers and integrating migrants, while another 2.2 billion euros would be for action outside the EU to address the causes of refugee flows.
EU governments also supported a 9 percent increase next year to 19 billion euros in payments for EU projects aimed at promoting growth and creating jobs, as the bloc is still struggling to bring down high levels of unemployment after the 2007-08 financial crisis.
To compensate for the higher expenses on migration and jobs, the EU agreed to cut other spending and slash funds destined for the least developed regions of the bloc, which will see in 2017 a fall in payments by nearly 24 percent year-on-year.
Eastern European countries are the main beneficiaries of development funds and fear that this decision could pave the way for bigger cuts in coming years, diplomats told Reuters.
On Tuesday, the European Commission plans a regular review of the EU financial framework for the period 2014-20, and may propose a more flexible budget giving priorities to emergencies and cutting fixed expenses, a diplomat said.
Some see the budget decision as possible retribution for the opposition of Eastern European countries to EU plans to share out the hosting of asylum seekers across the 28 member states, which have largely missed targets.
But Eastern European countries accepted the proposed budget as it also includes spending reductions in several sectors, including agriculture and research.
The cuts for poor regions, the largest of all expenditure headings, are partly due to the longer periods needed by regional administrations to launch development projects, which usually surge toward the final phase of EU long-term budgets, the current running between 2014 and 2020, an EU official told Reuters.
Overall, the Council agreed to reduce the EU budget in 2017 by 7 percent compared with this year to 133.8 billion euros in payments.
It slashed more than 820 million euros from the Commission proposal, increasing cuts to poor regions already proposed by the EU executive. It also cut funds for EU space projects, such as the satellite navigation program Galileo, for farmers and for nuclear energy programs, such as the fusion reactor ITER.
The Council’s agreement must be endorsed by the European Parliament by mid-November.

“Locals in the northern city of Lille are fighting back in a bid to stop a far-right group from opening a bar in the centre of Lille in northern France.
Far-right group Generation Identitaire has plans to open a new bar in the centre of Lille, just 200 metres from the Grand Palais.
It will also contain a boxing gym, a cinema, and a library, mainly planned to function like a headquarters for the group’s supporters in the northern city.
The bar, called La Citadelle, is scheduled to open on September 24th, but has already prompted calls for the bar to be banned.
A petition launched by local Greens councilor Josiane Dabit has garnered over 4,300 signatures since Friday.
“There’s just one word: Unacceptable,” reads the petition, which has been addressed to the town’s mayor.
“I am deeply concerned, this place will propagate hate and cause incidents that are beyond control,” she told the local La Voix du Nord newspaper.
“In a city where we pride ourselves on living together, a bar like this simply doesn’t have a future.”
One comment below the petition says that the bar “doesn’t reflect the typical human exchanges in Lille”.
Generation Identitaire was launched in 2012 and calls itself the “first line of resistance against mass immigration”, and urges younger people in France to “fight for their identity”.
It is described as the youth wing of the extreme right Bloc Identitaire movement that was founded back in 2003 and designed to be a “rally for young French and Europeans who are proud of their roots and of their heritage.”
Generation Identitaire made headlines in November 2012 when members occupied the construction site of a new mosque in the town of Poitiers.
Around 60 members of the French far-right group occupied the site of the future mosque to protest against the influence of Islam in France
They climbed onto the building’s roof and displayed a banner marked with “732 generation identity” in reference to the year 732, when Charles Martel halted the advance of the invading Muslim army to the north of Poitiers.
France’s Muslim groups were left shocked and angered by the occupation, saying the wild act risked national cohesion.”

“A German MP has admitted that he smuggled a young man from a war-torn African country into Germany. One police union said he should be charged.
Left party politician and member of the German parliament (Bundestag) Diether Dehm confirmed on Sunday to DPA news agency that he had smuggled a young African refugee from Italy to Germany at the end of last month.
He would not say more because he did not want to endanger the young man.
According to Bild, the young man had come from a country with an ongoing civil war and travelled to Italy after the death of his mother.
Dehm said that he took the young man into his vacation home in Lake Maggiore for a few days before driving him through Switzerland to Germany and taking him to refugee helpers. The young man was reportedly then brought to his father in Germany and has not been registered with border authorities.
Dehm and others have posted pictures on his Facebook of what appears to be a young man laying inside of the boot of a car.
Despite the fact that helping someone to travel illegally into the country is itself illegal, Dehm told Bild that he felt good about his actions.
“I am at peace with myself,” he said.
Bild reported that police union DPolG has called for Dehm to be brought to court on charges of people smuggling.
“The case shows an alarming instance of how an elected parliamentarian can spurn the legal system,” DPolG leader Rainer Wendt told Bild.
“These actions would probably fulfill the offence of smuggling and must accordingly be punished with up to ten years in prison. Refugees are not helped by such actions.””

For these countries, most suspects asylum submitted (in alphabetical order): Afghanistan (2317 suspects), Algeria (1631), Iraq (560), Iran (481), Morocco (1271), Nigeria (1265), Russia (595) and Syria (675).
The offenses most frequently detected by the Interior Ministry: assault (with 1678 suspects), brawl (311), dangerous threat (628), theft (2481), robbery (117), rape (66), sexual harassment and public sexual acts (105) and pursuant to the narcotic Substances Act (3228 suspects).
Even terrorism was treated in the request. So the Ministry of Interior reported 13 suspects in terrorist groups, another two people were of “incitement to terrorist offenses and approval” suspected.

“At least 16 cars were burnt in the western Copenhagen suburbs over the weekend, but police cautioned that a connection to earlier car fires has not yet been established.
In the early hours of Monday, an unknown person cut through the fence surrounding a vehicle safety testing centre in the suburb of Brøndby and set fire to numerous cars, Copenhagen Vestegn Police said.
“Fire was set to several cars and in total there are eight cars burnt,” spokesman Brian Munck told news agency Ritzau.
Munck said that police have not yet established a connection to last month’s spate of vehicle fires in the Copenhagen area.
“It could be a lot of things, so we don’t know. It’s difficult to say,” he said.
The Brøndby car fires were preceded by a similar incident in the western suburb of Albertslund the night before.
Early on Sunday morning, eight cars were burnt in a residential carport but police had not established the cause of those fires as of Monday.
“The fire started in a Toyota Yaris and then spread to the other cars. We don’t know if a technical problem in the Yaris started the fire or if there is another explanation,” Jeff Nielsen of Copenhagen Vestegn Police told Ritzau.
The newest incidents mean that nearly 50 vehicles have burnt in the Copenhagen area since mid-August.

“One of three men sentenced in March for supporting terrorist group Islamic State (IS) from Switzerland has been freed from jail.
The Federal Court in Lausanne ruled that the Iraqi national should be released after completing two-thirds of his term for planning terror attacks, according to reports in the Sunday papers.
The federal police, Fedpol, had sought the deportation of the Iraqi who belonged to an IS cell in the canton of Schaffhausen.
The man – considered dangerous by police – was convicted along with two compatriots in March and handed a three and a half year term.
Since he had been in pre-trial detention since 2014 he was eligible for release on good behaviour grounds in July.
The Iraqi, who entered Switzerland as a refugee, was initially placed in detention awaiting deportation but appealed. A federal judge granted his appeal and ordered his release last Wednesday.
The Federal Court said there was no legal basis to deport the convicted criminal to Iraq where his life would be in danger. Its decision means he is now at liberty.
According to the Sonntags Zeitung, Fedpol was surprised at the decision. It considers the man “still constitutes a danger to internal and external security”…”
