    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/697025/Trio-sent-thousands-to-ISIS-by-selling-wedding-dress-BMW-and-gold-on-eBay

“THREE men face jail for raising thousands of pounds for Islamic State (ISIS) by selling their belongings on eBay.

Brothers Mohammed Hussain, 26, and Mohamed Rohaman, 32, and friend Mohammad Khan, 27, sold a BMW, gold jewellery and even a wedding dress online to raise £10,000 for the crazed terror group.

Hussain and Rohaman went on a funding drive after their sibling Musadikur Rohaman and his wife Zohura Siddeka, both 27, ran away to Syria in December 2014.

The men recruited a family friend Khan, who applied for a credit card to help them with their mission.

All of the people involved denied they knew Rohaman was fighting with ISIS but were convicted of terror offences by a jury at the Old Bailey…”

“ARMED police stormed the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris this evening as crowds of tourists were evacuated from the iconic landmark.

Visitors were ordered away from France’s most famous building as heavily armed cops descended on one of the world’s most popular tourism sites.

There are French reports that the tower will not re-open until tomorrow morning.

Police have cordoned off the area and eyewitnesse have said that armed police are “all over the place”.

Some people at the scene have reported that a “suspicious” package was the reason for the evacuation.

Tourists were evacuated shortly after 8pm and the process was reported to be “calm”.

Security threats by suspect packages are now part of everyday life in France, especially on public transport but they are more rare at famous buildings, such as the Eiffel Tower…”

“MORE than 10,000 asylum seekers are missing in Britain, according to the UK’s top ranking immigration official.

And three times as many failed asylum seekers are still here more than two years after all appeals against their removal were exhausted.

Critics of the UK’s soft-touch immigration system said the figures exposed a culture of complacency from those in charge of security.

The figures come after five Iranians were caught entering Britain illegally, arrested and told to “report in regularly”…”

“AT LEAST 13 young people have died and six more have been injured after an explosion caused fire to rage through a bar in Rouen, France.

The victims are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25, and were celebrating a birthday party in the Cuba Libre bar when an explosion caused death and destruction in the capital of the French region of Normandy.

Fifty firefighters attended the scene after being alerted to the catastrophe at 11.50pm GMT, with bodies yet to be identified.

Meanwhile officials have emphasised that the incident was accidental

    • The court and paper repeatedly characterized the perpetrator as “intelligent”. Based on what, pray tell? Could such questionable characterization be due to the fact that he arrived at that station armed with a sports bottle containing a corrosive substance and despite suggestions of intoxication – this ‘intelligent’ perp knew it could effectively cause serious bodily harm even though his delivery/aim may have been compromised while under the influence of drugs and or alcohol? The alkaline substance in that sports bottle seriously injured those boys, perhaps permanently scarring them physically and emotionally.
Given recent reports of BLM activating in the UK, this appears to be a Hate Crime as well as an act of premeditated terrorism.
One also wonders if the perp just coincidentally adopted another perhaps doctrinal or BLM or gang identity. If so, dollars to donuts – there is more cell phone video capturing the attack circulating amongst his brethren.

      • We’re looking at a new terrorist tributary, BLM, that’s going to merge with the mighty Islamic river. It’ll come straight from the dawa-prison factories. Some anarchist-leftists might get their toes wet, but they may drown in such turbulent waters.

Categories of “terrorism” or “hate crimes” will be increasingly blurred till they’re junked altogether.

        • Good point, we only need to look back to the Ferguson protests to find a large Moslem presence. They are moving to take over the BLM and similar protest movements. The prisons are an ideal recruiting ground since most of the prisoners are alienated from the US to one extent or another.

The facts stated above make for a three or more sided war in the near future. One that the LSM will refuse to admit their side caused and one that will be long and bloody.

  6. Austrian far-right leader likens Turkish coup to Reichstag fire

VIENNA (Reuters) – Turkey’s failed coup and President Tayyip Erdogan’s subsequent purges of state institutions are reminiscent of the Reichstag fire in Nazi Germany and its use by Hitler to amass greater power, the head of Austria’s far-right Freedom Party said.

The blaze in the German parliament building in 1933 was portrayed by the Nazis as a Communist plot against the government and it was used to justify curtailing civil liberties, consolidating Adolf Hitler’s grip on Germany.

Austria’s Freedom Party (FPO) leader Heinz-Christian Strache said he saw parallels in Erdogan’s use of the July 15 coup by a faction within the Turkish armed forces to crack down on his opponents in the army, civil service, academia and the media.

“One almost had the impression that it was a guided putsch aimed in the end at making a presidential dictatorship by Erdogan possible,” Strache told daily Die Presse in an interview published on Saturday.

“Dramatically, we have experienced such mechanisms elsewhere before, such as with ….

  7. China conducts ‘combat patrols’ over contested islandsBEIJING (Reuters) – China’s air force sent bombers and fighter jets on “combat patrols” near contested islands in the South China Sea, in a move a senior colonel said was part of an effort to normalize such drills and respond to security threats.

The exercises come at a time of heightened tension in the disputed waters after an arbitration court in The Hague ruled last month that China did not have historic rights to the South China Sea.

The air force sent several H-6 bombers and Su-30 fighter jets to inspect the airspace around the Spratly Islands and Scarborough Shoal, Senior Colonel Shen Jinke of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force said, according to state news agency Xinhua.

The patrols included surveillance and refueling aircraft, Xinhua said, although it did not say when they occurred.

“The Air Force is organizing normalized South China Sea combat patrols, practising tactics … increasing response capabilities to all kinds of security threats and safeguarding national sovereignty, security and maritime interests,” Shen said.

China has refused to recognize the ruling by an arbitration court in The Hague that invalidated its vast territorial claims in the South China Sea and did not take part in the proceedings brought by the Philippines.

A dispute over the shoal, 124 nautical miles northwest of the Philippines mainland, was one of Manila’s main reasons for bringing international legal action against China in 2013.

Beijing has reacted angrily to calls by Western countries and Japan for the decision to be adhered to and has released pictures of aircraft flying over the shoal since the ruling.

China has repeatedly blamed the United States for stoking tension through its military patrols in the South China Sea, a strategic waterway through which more than $5 trillion of trade moves annually.

China, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam all have rival claims in the South China Sea.

The United States has conducted freedom of navigation patrols close to Chinese-held islands, to Beijing’s anger, while China has been bolstering its military presence there.

  8. Senior separatist official in east Ukraine wounded in explosion

MOSCOW/KIEV (Reuters) – The head of the separatist-controlled Luhansk region in east Ukraine was wounded on Saturday after an explosion near his car that regional officials said was an assassination attempt.

Igor Plotnitsky, head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR), received shrapnel wounds in the blast, a source in the hospital where he was being treated told Russia’s Interfax news agency.

His life was not in danger, according to rebel mouthpiece the Luhansk Information Centre.

The incident follows a sharp increase in violence in east Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists are fighting the Kiev government’s forces despite a fragile ceasefire.

“Today at 7:50 an assassination attempt on the head of the LNR was carried out. Facts from the scene speak of the fact that it was an act of terrorism,” regional official Sergei Kozlov told the Luhansk Information Centre.

A spokesman for Ukraine’s presidential administration said Kiev had nothing to do with the blast.

“The Ukrainian side is not involved in this assassination attempt, since it’s absolutely without any logic and does not solve a single question,” Oleksandr Motuzyanik told a news conference.

Motuzyanik said the incident could be the result of a local power struggle.

Civilian casualties from shelling, mines and booby traps in eastern Ukraine are at their highest in a year, the United Nations’ human rights chief said earlier this week.

More than 9,000 people have been killed in the Ukraine conflict, including soldiers, civilians and members of armed groups, since an armed rebellion started in the Russian-speaking regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in spring 2014.

  9. Nigeria’s Muslim Government Targeting Christians; A Pass to Boko Haram

The failure of Nigeria’s Muslim President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the Islamist fanatics of Boko Haram has resulted in an estimated 50,000 children facing death by starvation, according to Western aid officials.

A total of 500,000 people have been made homeless during Nigeria’s bitter seven-year conflict with Boko Haram, and aid workers now fear the vast majority of them are in urgent need of food, shelter and medical care.

But hopes that Mr Buhari would intensify the military effort to destroy Boko Haram, an Islamist group with close links to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Syria (ISIS), are fading, following the Nigerian leader’s decision to promote his Muslim allies to key government appointments at the expense of his Christian political opponents.

Last month Stratfor, which provides business with geopolitical analysis, reported there was growing frustration in northern Nigeria over the blatant favouritism the president is displaying towards his Muslim allies.

According to Stratfor, 77 of the 122 appointments Mr Buhari has made since his accession to power in May last year have gone to northerners, increasing ethnic tensions with the predominantly Christian south of the country.

Western officials say Mr Buhari’s obsession with settling scores with his political opponents has had a negative impact on Nigeria’s military campaign against Boko Haram, and left the government unable to cope with the mounting humanitarian disaster in the north of the country.

  11. Saudi Arabia to help Germany investigate attacks -Spiegel

BERLIN, Aug 6 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia has offered to help German investigators find those behind Islamist bomb and axe attacks in July, news magazine Der Spiegel reported on Saturday, citing a senior member of the Saudi government.

Saudi authorities are in contact with their German colleagues, responding to new findings that show both attackers were in close contact via a chat conversation with possible Islamic State backers from SAUDI ARABIA Spiegel said.

Traces of the chat, which investigators have been able to reconstruct, indicate that both men were not only influenced by but also took instructions from people, as yet unidentified, up until the attacks, the report said.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an attack on July 18 near Wuerzburg in Bavaria in which a 17-year-old refugee believed to be from Pakistan or Afghanistan wounded five people with an axe before police shot him dead.

A 27-year-old Syrian who blew himself up in Ansbach, southern Germany on July 24 had pledged allegiance to Islamic State on a video found on his mobile phone, investigators said. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the bombing, which wounded 15 people.

Bavaria’s Interior Minister said at the end of July that the Ansbach bomber had been “significantly influenced” in a chat conversation on his mobile phone that ended just before the attack.

“France has returned some 200 migrants to Italy who plunged into the sea to cross into France, evading border controls.

They were among some 300 who had moved to the rocky shoals on the Italian side of the border in recent days, in defiance of authorities who had removed migrants from the shoreline last summer.

The No Borders activist group said the action was aimed at forcing the border to re-open. They plan a protest on Sunday.

  15. Syrian Militants Launch New Offensive to Break Aleppo Siege (abcnews, Aug 6, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/kurdish-fighters-control-syrian-stronghold-41162271

“Syrian insurgent groups launched a fresh offensive Saturday seeking to break a government siege on rebel-held neighborhoods in the northern city of Aleppo, triggering intense clashes and airstrikes on the southern edge of the metropolis, the militants and state media said.

An unnamed military official told state news agency SANA that “large numbers” of militants attacked the military college in Aleppo, adding that government forces are defending the sprawling base. SANA said the militant offensive was preceded by a number of car bombs that struck the area.

The government completely closed the main road into the rebel-held areas of Aleppo on July 17, effectively besieging the neighborhoods. The United Nations estimates that between 250,000 and 300,000 residents have been trapped in the besieged, eastern part of Aleppo since mid-July.

The U.N. and numerous relief organizations have warned of a looming humanitarian catastrophe as conditions there deteriorate.

The powerful ultraconservative Ahrar al-Sham group, which is taking part in the offensive along with several other factions, posted a video that showed what it said were its fighters inside the college known as the Artillery Academy. An Ahrar al-Sham fighter in the video claimed that militants are in full control of the college showing destroyed tanks and artillery pieces captured by the gunmen. Ahrar al-Sham’s coalition includes the Levant Conquest Front, al-Qaida’s branch in Syria which recently renamed itself and announced its separation from the global al-Qaida organization.

“It is only a matter of hours before we break the siege imposed on our brothers in Aleppo,” an Ahrar al-Sham fighter said in the video as gunfire could be heard in the background.

The video appeared genuine and corresponded to other Associated Press reporting of the events…”

    • Syrian army recaptures falling military positions in Aleppo

The Syrian army recaptured military positions the rebels had stormed earlier on Saturday in southern Aleppo province in northern Syria, according to pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV and a military source.

A military source told Xinhua on condition of annoying that the Syrian army restored positions the rebels stormed earlier in the day at the Artillery College base in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

He added that large numbers of the rebels were killed, while the rest were from positions they stormed an adjacent military college near the artillery base.

The source said the Syrian forces and allied fighters are targeting the withdrawing rebels with heavy artillery.

Meanwhile, pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV cited its reporter in Aleppo as confirming that the rebel were no longer in control of any part of the military colleges.

The TV also stated that the rebels could not take control over the al-Ramuseh town, whose control would enable them to break the government forces’ siege on the rebel-held eastern part of Aleppo.

Still, battles are still raging back and forth and the decisive results are yet to appear clearly.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian air force intensified airstrikes on the areas the rebels stormed inside the artillery collage, also cutting all routes the rebels could possibly open into Aleppo city, the national Syrian TV said.

The airstrikes destroyed tens of vehicles with their occupants on several routes that could lead the rebels into breaking the government siege on the eastern part of Aleppo city.

The report said the airstrikes isolated the battle sites in the vicinity of the military colleges in southern Aleppo, supporting the ground operations fought by the Syrian army against the sites infiltrated by the rebel groups in parts of the artillery college base.

“The airstrikes paralyzed the movement of the terrorist groups southwest of Aleppo, cutting by fire all routes into the city,” said the TV.

The fresh development came after an array of extremist groups, mainly the Fateh Army, succeeded to storm parts of the artillery college base in southern Aleppo, engaging in intense battles with the Syrian army in that base and the adjacent military colleges.

The aim of the rebels was to open a route from the al-Ramuseh town in southwest Aleppo into the besieged rebel-held areas in eastern Aleppo.

Last month, the Syrian army intensified battles against the rebels in Aleppo, cutting their last supply route into the eastern part of that city, in a bid to force them to surrender.

But battles flared as several rebel groups in Aleppo unleashed repeated attacks to break that siege

Syrian Army repels Aleppo rebel attack

Syrian rebels stormed a major army artillery base in Aleppo on Friday to try an end the siege of opposition-held areas but the Syrian army said it had repelled the attack and killed hundreds of insurgents.

Rebels from a coalition of rebel groups called ‘Jaish Al Fateh’ that includes Jabhat Fateh Al Sham, Ahrar Al Sham and other smaller groups, said they had taken the main fortress-like artillery academy in the Ramousah quarter in southwestern Aleppo.

They were now fighting to take the other military academies adjoining the artillery base that are among the country’s largest.

But the army said hundreds of insurgents had been killed and much of their armored vehicles and tanks destroyed. It said the assault was the biggest by rebels against government-held areas in the last few years.

“Today there was a large scale attack by the terrorist armed groups and they used all types of weapons but were are fighting this attack and will defeat them,” said Brigadier General Deeb Bazi, the head of one of the military academies targeted. The army said 1,000 insurgents had been killed since the assault began this week.

An army statement later said it had succeeded in containing the attack with help of allied forces and destroyed three explosive laden suicide vehicles. Reinforcements from pro-government militias were also coming to shore up army positions.

Rebels said jets flying at high altitude, believed to be Russian, intensified their strikes on the area but were unable to hold back rebel advances because of the terrain. The base is 2 km from the opposition area. It has a huge supply of ammunitions and is used regularly to shell parts of the city held by opposition forces.

The rebels are trying to break through a strip of government-controlled territory to reconnect their encircled sector of eastern Aleppo with a swathe of insurgent territory in the west of Syria, effectively breaking the siege.

The fall of that strip would also cut off western Aleppo, which is in government hands.

“There are two suicide bombers who have driven into government posts inside the artillery base,” said Abu Al Walid, a fighter with Ahrar Al Sham, who said there was fighting inside the base.

Hundreds of rebels were clashing with government troops only a few hundred metres from each other in parts of the base after breaking into government defences around the fortified compound, rebels said.

The army said it had foiled the attack on the artillery base and two major military academies.

“The Army of Conquest on Saturday took control of the armament school, where there is a large amount of ammunitions, and a large part of the artillery school”, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The coalition “is about to cut off, by gunfire, the supply route into government-controlled districts of the city,” the Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

“The Syrian forces are in a very difficult position despite Russian air support,” he said.

State media reported fighting in the three locations and said the army had dispatched reinforcements to take on “thousands of terrorists”.

The government forces had initially been able to hold off the rebels.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2016/08/06/middleeast/syria-city-ousted-manbij/index.html

“A U.S.-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias have seized nearly all of the strategic northern Syrian city of Manbij after a more than two-months’ long offensive against ISIS militants, a rights group reported Saturday.

The militias, known as the Syrian Democratic Forces, are now sweeping through the city, located in the northeast part of Aleppo province. Operations are still under way in the center of town and some ISIS members are still hiding there, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

“The Syrian Democratic Forces are nearly in full control of Manbij. Operations are still underway to comb the center of town and the northern part of the center of town,” the observatory said on Saturday.

An earlier report that said militias are in full control of the city has been knocked down.

Activists CNN has spoken to in the city say ISIS still controls at least one neighborhood and intense clashes are ongoing in others.

Syrian Kurdish journalist Mustafa Bali told CNN that “there are still clashes in Manbij, the SDF does not fully control it yet.”

“WOMEN in Saudi Arabia have been banned from the American chain Dunkin’ Donuts – unless they are accompanied by a man.

Signs have been daubed on doors to the shops in the capital Riyadh saying “unescorted women” are not allowed inside.

Dunkin’ Donuts is famous for its sugary treats and the American chain has outlets across the world.

Saudi Arabia has strict rules in place to separate men and women, many of whom wear full face veils.

Western eateries McDonald’s and Pizza Hut have separate entrances for men and women who are also seated apart once inside.

Women who go into restaurants with their husbands and children are seated in family areas which are screened off from other diners allowing them to remove the veil covering their faces.

Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where women are banned from driving because of their gender.

They are also unable to access education, medical treatment and go out for a meal unless a male chaperone – usually a husband or father – gives them permission or accompanies them.

However, women are fighting back and demanding to live a life chaperone-free.

Protesters have argued that western chains such as Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut are promoting sexism and the discrimination of women by separating the sexes in their stores.

A Twitter campaign using the hashtag #StopEnslavingSaudiWomen is calling for women to be treated as equal to men and the right to drive and enjoy an education in addition to enjoying outings without a chaperone….”

“SHOPS selling un-Islamic clothes have been raided and shut down as morality police step up brutal patrols in Iran.

The crackdown on Western outfits in the Islamic Republic has seen factories and shops being targeted – and comes after a leading cleric bizarrely accused the fashion of causing rivers to run dry.

At least 15 women’s clothes shops have been closed down by morality police in Hamedan in a renewed drive to wipe out improper clothing.

Four factories and shops have also been shut down in Isfahan, central Iran.

Islamic codes of behaviour and dress are strictly enforced in the country with women expected to cover their heads, wear trousers and a long sleeved coat or tunic that reaches to the mid-thigh or knee.

Manufacturers have been ordered to change their designs by officials and the black market for smuggled foreign clothing has experienced problems with demand.

The Tasnim News Agency, which is linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards Force, reported the crackdown…”

  20. Muslim Americans launch “ISIS Sucks” billboard campaign: So-called Islamic State “does not represent Islam”

Non-profit Sound Vision created an anti-ISIS billboard campaign in Chicago to challenge extremism and Islamophobia

[…]Sound Vision is a non-profit organization that says it “provides Muslims with thinking and talking points to manage crisis, to fight against Islamophobia and to challenge extremism and radicalism among Muslim youth.”

[…]“Extremism, when done in the name of a religion, creates the image that the religion itself is perpetuating and encouraging violence against innocent people, although there is no such religion. This then produces a phobia against that religion, and in this zeitgeist, that religion happens to be Islam,” she explained.

[…]“Islamophobia begets extremism and vice versa,” Suleiman said. “On a local scale, when an Islamophobe starts otherising Muslims, this can make a Muslim feel unwelcome in his or her own country.”

“On a global scale, Islamophobia gives fuel to and ‘legitimizes’ the angst that extremist groups feel, which is converted into a violent ideology, however baseless and harmful,” she added.[…]

And what are Muslims to do with these Jewish transgressors?

      Next verse:
“Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,”

  21. PHOTOS: ISIS Captures American Soldier in Afghanistan?

The Islamic State has purportedly released photos of documents and gear of United States soldiers, including the identity card of Ryan Jay Larson in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. The photos were released on ISIS terrorist channels on August 6 with the description: ”

Exclusive: Amaq Agency received photos in which American weapons and military equipment can be seen that have been captured by fighters of the Islamic State in Nangarhar. One of these pictures shows the identity of a US soldier named Ryan Jay Larson, whose fate is unknown, as well as bags, ammunition vests, a rocket, a US flag and several hand grenades. A media source reported that the fighters of the country managed to attack the US and Afghan troops in the territories Kot, Schadal, Dah Bala, Adl Khil and Bandar, when tanks and heavy air support were used to ward off [Islamic State militants].

” It is unclear if ISIS is claiming to have only captured the equipment of soldiers, or Larson also. Terrorism analyst Michael S. Smith II suggests another translation for the fate of Larson as, “his destiny is unknown.” An earlier description of the photos by ISIS suggested the capture of Larson, writing “Photos of equipment and documents of US soldiers who had been captured by fighters of the Islamic State in Afghanistan.”

  22. Bodies of Russian Helicopter Crew in Hands of Fatah al-Sham Front Terrorists

[…]A Russian daily said on Tuesday that Moscow might launch massive airstrikes on the terrorists in areas controlled by Fatah al-Sham if the militants don’t give back the bodies of the slain helicopter crew that was shot down in Syria.

According to Moskovskij Komsomolets newspaper, Russia is to warn the terrorists to return the bodies of the crew killed in the Monday helicopter downing in Idlib or wait for massive airstrikes on their positions.

The daily added that the operations to transfer the bodies of the Russian pilots to Hmeimim air base in Lattakia will be complicated and the Russian forces should launch intensive attacks against the terrorist-held regions to make them withdraw and then advance in that area to return the corpses.

[…]According to reports, the terrorist groups in Syria have been equipped with advanced weapons by their supporters, including surface-to-air missiles, which possibly downed a Russian helicopter in Idlib.

The Russian media reported that the country’s helicopters fly at the altitude of 4.5km and are attacked by the terrorists who use advanced weapons.

The MANPADs, shoulder-mounted surface-to-air missiles, are mostly guided missiles used against the objects flying at low altitudes, specially helicopters.

    • Manpads are heat seekers. I am not familiar with the current generations of manpads but they should be able to hit targets 4 to 5 klicks up, 4 klicks is 21/2 fimles whch translages to between 12 and 13,000 feet. That is within range of most of the older manpads.

The City Hall demonstration attracted about 400 people and included chants of “more love, no hate,” and signs that read “I love my neighbors” and “No place for racism.” Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling, who tucked a copy of the Constitution in his shirt pocket, welcomed the city’s Somali residents.

His family said he was executed on August 3 and that they had been allowed to visit him the day before.

Amiri disappeared briefly while on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in 2009 and resurfaced in Washington some time later.

While in the US, he recorded and posted a series of bizarre videos, first claiming he had been kidnapped by US and Saudi agents and forced to reveal sensitive information while “under intense psychological pressure,” and in a second video, saying he was living in Arizona and wanted to study there. In a later post, he said he wanted to go home.

Forces loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi launched a new offensive east of the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Saturday, the military command said, after United Nations-sponsored peace talks in Kuwait ended without an agreement.

The offensive, which is backed by air strikes from a Saudi-led coalition, came as the Iran-allied Houthis and the party of ex-President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced a 10-member governing council, against the wishes of the U.N.

The Houthis and Saleh’s General People’s Congress (GPC), hold most of Yemen’s northern half, while forces loyal to Hadi share control of the rest of the country with local tribes.

  28. Russia’s Moves, Terrorism Fuel Talk of War in Europe

KYIV, Ukraine—Whether referring to Russian aggression in the east or to the threat of Islamist terrorism in the West, Europe’s political, media, and religious elite are increasingly using the word “war” to describe the Continent’s security challenges.

The day after the July 14 terror attack in Nice, in which a man drove a large truck into a crowd, killing 84, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said France was at war, “both abroad and on our soil.”

“For years, we have lived, fundamentally, with a kind of insouciance, as though war could not catch up with us, as though history was not tragic,” Valls said. “But war is here, and it is different from the ones that we knew in the 20th century.”

Less than two weeks later, Pope Francis echoed Valls’ remarks when he said the “world is at war.”

  29. Rio 2016 Olympics: Lebanese athletes refuse to travel with Israel team (BBC, Aug 6, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/36998989

“Lebanese athletes refused to share a bus with the Israel team to get to Friday’s Rio Olympic Games opening ceremony, members of both teams said.

Lebanon and Israel are officially at war and have no diplomatic relations.

The incident happened as the Lebanon team sat on the bus waiting to head to the Maracana stadium, before demanding the Israeli athletes must not board.

Israel’s athletes insisted on doing so, but the two teams were eventually taken to the ceremony in different buses.

Head of the Lebanese team Salim al-Haj Nicolas told AFP news agency he demanded that the door be closed on the Israeli team, but they “insisted on getting on”.

Udi Gal, a member of Israel’s Olympic sailing team, said on Facebook his compatriots “insisted on boarding the bus” adding that “if the Lebanese refused to stay with us, they were welcome to take another bus”.

Gal said the decision to travel separately was eventually taken to avoid an “international and physical incident”.

“How could they let this happen on the eve of the Olympic Games? Isn’t this the opposite of what the Olympics represents?” he added.”

“An elite new Taliban force is proving its strength in the strategic southern province of Helmand, pointing to the insurgents’ ability to refine their battlefield techniques to match Afghanistan’s increasingly professional national army.

The Taliban regard Helmand as their heartland. They share Pashtun ethnicity with its residents and the province’s vast opium output has helped fund the war against the government in Kabul, now in its fifteenth year.

Afghan officials in Helmand say the army is facing an insurgent fighting force that is better-organized and more skilled than ever. They say the Taliban have been sending men into the fight who appear to be members of a commando-like unit, believed to consist of several hundred elite fighters.

  32. ‘Bureaucratic mess’ sees Belgian jihadist freed after 4 months of 15yr sentence (RT, Aug 6, 2016)
    https://www.rt.com/news/354857-isis-jihadist-released-belgium/

“Fatima Aberkan, dubbed the ‘Belgian muse of ISIS’, who was jailed to 15 years on terrorism charges, has been released due to a bureaucratic mess, while her only restrictions are she is not allowed to visit the Molenbeek district or view jihadi websites.
Aberkan, 55, also known within the Belgian media as the “Mother of jihad”, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on terrorism charges in April.

The court proved that she had been in contact with Nizar Trabelsi, a Tunisian jihadist, who was convicted on charges of being associated with Al-Qaeda and plotting attacks on US targets, including the Kleine Brogel Air Base in Belgium.

She was also accused of having contacts with Malika El Aroud, a Belgian jihadist who was convicted in 2010 on terrorism charges, the court added.

The prosecutors also linked Aberkan with jihadi recruiter Khalid Zerkani, who is nicknamed ‘Santa Claus of jihad’. Zerkani was charged with recruiting young Muslims back in 2015 and is now serving 12 years in jail.

However, Aberkan, only served only four months of her 15-year-sentence, the Belgian Dernier Heure newspaper discovered.

Her lawyer, Cedric Moisse filed an appeal, saying the Court of Cassation, Belgium’s highest court, failed to come up with an appeal date, despite having five months to do so. Moisse insisted that the Court of Cassation exceeded “the reasonable time” of the court appeal, the publication added.

As a result Belgian Appeal’s Court released the convicted jihadist. There are a few rules she will have to abide by in order to keep her freedom. She is not allowed to visit the Brussels neighborhood of Molenbeek, which has been seen as a breeding ground for jihadists.

She has to submit her Belgian and Moroccan passports to the Belgian authorities, make regular visits to police and is under curfew from 22:00 to 06:00.

Aberkan also has to undergo psychological treatment in a specialized center for de-radicalization and is not allowed to visit websites advocating jihad and terrorism.

The woman took her two teenage daughters to Syria in 2013, according to the Belgian media. Two of her sons reportedly joined terrorist groups and have been living in Syria for some time.

“Fatima Aberkan has jihad under the skin,” the prosecutor in the case said back in February. “She has sacrificed much for the cause, including one of her sons. For many years, she’s contaminated her entourage with her foul and harmful ideas.””

  33. The Globe and Mail, (Canada’s newspaper of record), placed this Associated Press on their website on Thursday morning and last updated it Thursday afternoon at 4:21pm, presumably before they went to press. It seems to contain pretty well all the info that was available eight or so hours after the attack (including the jihadi’s ethnicity, immigrant origin and the mental health crap).

However, a different story (from Reuters) appeared in their Friday print edition. It makes no mention of the killer’s Somali ancestry, nor even the fact that he was an immigrant from Norway. It also did not identify the woman who died, only her nationality and stated there was no evidence linking it to Islam.

Another question worth asking is the following: Just like another Somali’s attack on the Canadian Forces recruiting office in Toronto earlier this year, this was attributed to mental health issues before the blood had time to coagulate. Think about this for a second. In a city of over 2.5 million that jihadist picked one of the few places in the city where:

    a) He could be certain to find CF personnel
    b) They would not likely be carrying weapons

and of all the offices/homes/movie theatres/Tim Horton’s in Hogtown, he went there. Does that sound random at all?

Now consider our most recent Somali performer of unauthorized vascular surgery. If you were going to kill/maim six people in a public place in London in 2016, what are the odds that all six would be white(as they appear to be)? Wikipedia gives the % white population of London at ~60%(and this was in 2011). So the victims are highly unlikely to be chosen at random, which means he had sufficient reason to stab these people instead of some burkha-clad baby factory.
