  1. Islamic State video claims to show Paris attackers

A video published on Sunday by the media center of Islamic State claimed to show images and last statements of nine of the people who took part in the Paris attacks that killed 130 people on Nov. 13.

Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage.

The French Foreign Ministry declined to comment on it. There was no immediate comment from the Prime Minister’s office, and Reuters was not immediately able to reach officials at the Interior Ministry.

The video was uploaded to Islamic State’s official Telegram channel and shows some of the attackers wearing camouflage fatigues in a desert location, before the time of the Paris attacks.

“These are the last messages of the nine lions of the caliphate who were mobilized from their lairs to make a whole country, France, get down on its knees,” a narrator in the video says.

  2. ‘Irany,’ Tehran’s own brand of irony
The Islamic regime exhibits moderation in word, extremism in deed

The single greatest strategic challenge the U.S. faces in 2016 remains the Islamic Republic of Iran. It remains a source of terror that keeps the region in a continuous and growing death spiral. There is a yawning gap between U.S. words and actions toward Tehran that has been noted by the regime in Tehran and has, in fact, empowered its bad behavior. Across the board, the U.S. has shown leniency in the face of belligerence and used half-measures to confront adversaries who define extremism in both word and deed.

It is bewildering that Western governments including the U.S. have continued to keep the Iranian opposition at a distance as agents of Iran’s fundamentalist regime have continued to murder these brave people who advocate democracy and tolerance. The Iranian regime, including President Rouhani, should be held accountable for their belligerent domestic and international conduct. Period.
