1. Burkina Faso attack: Foreigners killed at luxury hotel
Burkina Faso’s government says 28 people were killed and a further 56 injured after Islamist militants attacked a hotel in the capital, Ouagadougou, popular with foreigners.
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has said it carried out the attack, which began on Friday night.
Six of those killed were from Canada, the country’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.
Burkina Faso is to observe 72 hours of national mourning for the victims.

4. Pakistani man sues Canadian firm for retracting job offer
A Pakistani graduate from McGill University is suing Canada’s Imperial Oil company after the latter rescinded his job offer when it found that the applicant was neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident.
Muhammad Taimoor Haseeb was offered a $86,700-a-year position in the Canadian oil company in December 2014. Even though Haseeb could legally work in Canada under Ottawa’s post-graduation work permit programme, the job offer was revoked after the company found out that he was neither a Canadian national nor a permanent resident.
“Treating me as lesser of a human being because I was not born in Canada is upsetting. Telling me that immigrants take up jobs that locals deserve and have the first right to is just as discriminatory,” Haseeb said.

The president of the Czech Republic has claimed it is ‘impossible’ for Muslims to integrate into modern Europe.
Speaking on local TV, President Milos Zeman also blamed the New Years Eve sex attacks in Cologne, Germany, on ‘Muslim culture’.
Zeman is known for his fiery anti-migrant comments and has previously accused refugees ‘with iPhones’ of exploiting their children to get asylum in the EU.

6. Police arrest 40 immigrant men in Düsseldorf raid
Düsseldorf authorities haven arrested 40 men in a raid on the city’s so-called “Maghreb” neighborhood. German officials say men from North Africa have drawn their attention with involvement in criminal activities.
Security forces in Düsseldorf on Sunday revealed their initial findings following a massive crackdown in the city’s “Maghreb” neighborhood a day ago. The area, also known as “Little Morocco” because of its large North African population and Moroccan-style restaurants, shops and cafes, was a hub for pickpockets and drug dealers, police told journalists.
Officers said they raided 18 cafes, casinos and Shisha bars and interrogated 294 suspects. Thirty-eight of the 40 arrested persons were illegally living in Germany and one of them was to be extradited. One arrested person was accused of dealing with stolen goods. Officials also recovered a large number of stolen mobile phones.

In this National Post oped, one cannot help but notice that there is no mention whatsoever of where the threat to Jews in France comes from. Its like reading a story about the Holocaust and removing any and all mentions of Nazis or even Germany from it. So that there is this odd nameless lament that a horrible thing happened, or in this case is happening, and making damn sure that the most important thing is that no one knows enough to actually do anything about it. A case can be made that this article does more harm than good to the cause of stopping violent and lethal antisemitism in France and elsewhere specifically because it fails to say where the threat comes from. Muslims, and their doctrine, propaganda etc. Meanwhile, Canada, France and everywhere else continues to let in hundreds of thousands to millions of the people who have as core belief that the Jewish people must be exterminated world wide. Failure to mention that makes this oped more a sort of ‘So long and thanks for all the great inventions, discoveries and medicine. You will be missed, but not by many or for long’, than it is any sort of effort to interfere with the process in any way.

If an uninformed reader were to peruse that article they would most likely conclude that the perpetrators of this modern day antisemitism in France were extreme right wing or neo-Nazi types, not Muslims. The article even takes the time to remind us all that some French citizens even helped the Nazis with their murderous work during the occupation, to make sure that our minds jump to the wrong conclusions. The average person would be completely deceived by this article and would never even know it. Very skillful piece of deception written by a true master of lies…
