3. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) – Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missiles and Support Equipment
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has requested a possible sale of six hundred (600) Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) Missiles with containers, eight (8) PAC-3 CRI Test Missiles for fly-to-buy. Also included are PAC-3 Telemetry Kits, PAC-3 Guidance Enhanced Missile (GEM) Flight Test Target/Patriot as a Target (PAAT) missiles, Fire Solution Computers, Launcher Modification Kits, PAC-3 Missile Round Trainers, PAC-3 Slings, Patriot Automated Logistics System (PALS) Kits, Shorting Plugs, spare and repair parts, lot validation and range support, support equipment, repair and return, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, Quality Assurance Team, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $5.4 billion.
(The commission on that sale probably justified an extra dessert!)
4. The Canadian Army is Acquiring Israel’s Iron Dome Technology
(It would be interesting to know what threat exactly the Canadian military felt, would justify this purchase. Its quite an odd choice for Canadian geography, so they must have either a novel use for the technology which makes sense for a Canadian landscape and position on the globe, or are aware of a threat which might require this system as the Israelis use it, or could it be for an actual projection of force elsewhere)
Earlier this week, Canadian Defence Minister Jason Kenney unveiled a plan in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec to acquire Medium Range Radar for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The radar system will use cutting edge technology from Israel’s successful Iron Dome air defense system – which defends the country from incoming rocket fire from Hamas and other terrorist groups.
The move represents yet another example of significant transfer of Israeli defence technology to Canada.
5. IDF Soldier Sentenced to Prison (Base arrest really) for Eating a Pork Sandwich
(Forbidding Jewish people to eat Chinese food is cruel and unusual punishment in most countries. The Israeli military really should let people observe what dietary laws they want on an individual basis. Not to mention that homosexuality is considerably more problematic in Jewish law than eating a lobster bisque yet that is allowed)
The kosher laws are a strict set of regulations that have been enforced in the Jewish bible, and prohibit Jews from consuming a number of different foods. Some of the most commonly abided by laws include the prohibition of pig meat and seafood, along with the forbidden mixture of meat and dairy ingredients.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has enforced the kosher laws amongst its members, and expects all soldiers to abide by the regulations on the military base.
One recently emigrated United States soldier of the IDF chose to violate this law by eating a sandwich that contained pork. He then even proceeded to offer the unkosher food to his fellow soldiers. #amateurhour
6. MUSLIM’S MESSAGE AGAINST GEERT WILDERS BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND
Thank you M., Richard, WTD., Snaphanen, GoV. and all.
On an utterly unrelated topic, if any readers know how to make programs and phone apps, or know someone who does, suggest the following to them:
Make an app that would blank out any mention of the Jenner family and the Kardashian family from any website you visit, whether it is Youtube or The Daily Mail or any other site, simply make an app that doesn’t allow any article, story or issue with those names to appear at all. I know I would pay $2.00 right now for such an app and I am confident that over a million other people would as well, so this could make someone a millionaire, twice over at least. The surgically enhanced transvestite has put the family over the information event horizon at this stage and its rapidly becoming an actual mental health issue. So if someone cares to make such an app or computer program, lets get it done. For slightly more, I can imagine a program that you could set what words and names you don’t want to see. Maybe a 99 cent program dedicated to the Jenner/Kardashians and a $3.00 one or something that you can type in what you want to not see. Whoever does this deserves the house, car and boat they get out of it.
Re #4: They are actually acquiring the radar technology used in the Iron Dome, not the system itself, FWIW. This is likely more of an upgrade to the existing radar technology used to detect incoming air threats. Id imagine the Iron Dome has more sophisticated medium range capabilities to detect smaller air targets. Basically re-spinning a new technology for a traditional application of detecting incoming intruders. The US is doing a similar thing with the Lockheed/AEGIS system down the road here by upgrading the entire installation with newer technology and development systems, for obvious reasons…
Thanks Adam. I found it a very interesting item as Canada has staggeringly different geography and geopolitics for the moment. Although frankly, I can visualize a day when muslims in Kanata start firing rockets randomly at Ottawa schools.
We do seem to be approaching a time when things like that occur, I am reminded of some of the SF stories and novels from the 1950s and early 60s. Wish I still had copies of those books.
3 – The commission on that sale is going to make a someone a lot of money.
Speaking of money the app you want would bring in a lot more then 2 mill, probably closer too50 mill in the first few months.
5/ Haredim are exempt from otherwise universal military conscription. Ultra-Orthodox parties control big voting blocs in the Knesset; every coalition needs some, so they have outsize political clout.
The haredi pool of potential recruits is HUGE. You’ve got to negotiate with key ultra-Orthodox rabbis – haredim don’t separate Church and State – to integrate these young people with the rest of society. Joining the fight for national survival is the essential first step. It’s a lot of work and it’s been going on for years. Patience, imagination, and flexibility.
It just so happens – conveniently – that soldiers in the IDF these days are more observant than the Six-Day War generation.
Right off the top, what does “observant” mean? They don’t eat pig.
Or off dishes or from kitchens where pig has been served. Lots more to the dietary laws, but that’s baseline. Dining facilities are communal, as are all other sites where food is consumed. An office where there’s a microwave and mini-fridge? Wanna wipe your piggy hands on a towel? Get outta here! Disgusting.
Now to this young soldier: He’d have been lynched if he tucked into his sandwich in Muslim-heavy areas of Judea and Samaria [the West Bank]. Or east Jerusalem. Unless, of course, an IDF reservist rescued him first.
Israel has enough trouble without catering –
catering!!– to foreign tastes. An American wants “right of return” citizenship, yet observance of Jewish law is somehow an imposition? What’s he returning to?
Israeli law is much more lax than IDF regulations, but there are still constraints in some aspects of the civil code that bother non-observant Jews. Their voice – the Israeli left – dominates the media. Overwhelmingly.
Despite the best efforts of civil rights activists – publicizing this case for starters – most Israelis persist in abstaining from pork.
Ok. But at my core, I think religious observance must be voluntary or its meaningless. There is no point to a sacrifice if its forced. It has no value to the person making it just as belief or love has no value if its faked or forced. Its the difference between Machiavelli and a Buddhist monastery in Ontario.
Forcing people to obey dietary laws which are religious and based on belief or self sacrifice, seems to be a kind of perversion of what they should be. At least as I see things.
Thanks for your explanation though.
I agree with both of you, forced obedience to the religious dictates does nothing to further the state of someones soul. On the other hand this happened in Israel in accordance to their laws, laws that were passed by ensure that the ultra religious support the effort to ensure Israel survives.
Politics is the art of the possible and Israel is doing what it must to ensure its survival.
#6/ LOL! The fellow objecting to Geert Wilders uttering “lies” about Islam is actually objecting to Geert Wilders uttering truths about Islam that are uncomfortable for Moslems to acknowledge. Of course under sharia, no so-called “infidel” has any right to speak the truth freely.
Of course this piece of work has every expectation that he will be supported by British collaborators in his call for the caliphate. The recently planned British Mohammed cartoon contest saw the authorities specifically coordinate efforts to keep Tommy Robinson from attending, as has been reported. Free speech as practised in the drawing of cartoons of Mohammed, speaking plainly concerning the moral depravity of Mohammed and Islam, calling out politicos for their facilitation of Mohammedan inroads into imposing sharia upon aboriginal Britons is the first line of defense in this war.
The British government, through the simple expedient of applying existing British Common Law equally to all citizens with zero tolerance for treason, can eliminate the need for aboriginal Britons to resort to the second line of defense in this war.
