Islamic State takes another city, Saudis announce purchase of nuclear weapons from Pakistan, and why certain jokes don’t work anymore: Links 2 on May 17 – 2015

1. 46 minute casual explaining of islamic history of conquest and how it is being reenacted today. (2013)

(You don’t have to watch this one, you can just listen so its a good one for cooking or when doing dishes etc.)

2. Iraqi Army fleeing Ramadi (presumably from an advancing Islamic State)

3. Official says Iraq’s ‘Ramadi has fallen’ to Islamic State

A spokesman for the governor of Iraq’s Anbar province says “Ramadi has fallen” to the Islamic State group.

Muhannad Haimour made the comment after the Islamic State group swept through the rest of the city Sunday.

Haimour also says the military’s operational command in the city has been taken as well.

Federal authorities have yet to comment.

Earlier Sunday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered Shiite militias to prepare to go into the Sunni-dominated Anbar province, ignoring worries their presence could spark sectarian bloodshed apparently over fears the extremists could seize the entire province.

4. Saudis ‘to get nuclear weapons’

(I guess the KSA, like Israel, doesn’t want to play pretend like Obama that this deal will have any impact whatsoever on Iranian nuclear weapons timelines. In fact the ending of restrictions means it will speed up)

SAUDI ARABIA has taken the “strategic decision” to acquire “off-the-shelf” atomic weapons from Pakistan, risking a new arms race in the Middle East, according to senior American officials.

The move by the Gulf kingdom, which has financed much of Islamabad’s nuclear programme over the past three decades, comes amid growing anger among Sunni Arab states over a deal backed by President Barack Obama, which they fear could allow their arch foe, Shi’ite Iran, to develop a nuclear bomb.

The agreement, which is due to be finalised by the end of next month and involves the permanent members of the UN security council and Germany, is designed to roll back part of Tehran’s nuclear programme in return for an easing of UN sanctions.

5. Racism destroying NYC fire department

(This was predictable. All they had to do was redefine racism so it forced everyone to make choices based on race and you get the consequences of abandoning the merit principle and living in a racist society, yet call it anti racism. The Nazis, had they been slightly more commie than they actually were, could have said they were not anti-Jewish, they were just pro Aryan and wanted affirmative action business and property ownership for Aryans. The Brits and Americans would have had no cause of action and would pretty much have had to wait till there was V2s landing in London or Pearl Harbor was attacked before they could do anything about them. On the other hand….)

6. Thousands protest against PEGIDA march in Stuttgart

(Banal article and the numbers are likely fiction as MSM always tilts the numbers to favour leftist principles and ignores inconvenient facts. But its still worth noting that organized large scale demos take places against PEGIDA, which is true grass roots if ever there was one and hardly right wing. Meanwhile, ANTIFA have been proven over and over again in the UK, Germany and Denmark to be paid by government or near government organizations and to look like grass roots when it is, as the Americans say, ‘astroturf’)

7. A city of people soon to be filled with regret

8. White Widow Samantha Lewthwaite ‘has killed 400 people in reign of terror against the west’

White Widow Samantha Lewthwaite has murdered 400 people after becoming a key figure in jihadist terror group al Shabaab.

The 32-year-old mother of four’s atrocities include last month’s slaughter of 148 by gunmen at a university in Kenya, say security chiefs.

One told the Mirror in the Somalian capital, frequently bombed by al Shabaab: “This lady sits at the right hand of the leader directing attacks.”

She has been rapidly promoted through the ranks of al Shabaab after many of its leaders died in drone attacks.

The London University graduate was quickly recognised as intelligent and evil-minded enough by jihadi terror bosses to be trusted with the most horrific atrocities.

9. Anyone who has a website and is under DDoS attack may wish to read this article about how to thwart it.

Thank you BCF, M., GoV and many more.

There is another item worth having a look at but for a very different reason.

Some time ago, I decided to try and avoid what one may think of as, ‘jokes of logical extremes’. An example of this might where one would hear of something preposterous but true, and retort “that if you are going to do that, then you may as well” and then carry on with a statement of similar attributes but absurd proportions. For example:

“if they are going to let in anyone without checking them, the next thing you know, they won’t be required to show any proof of citizenship to vote!”

This seems to have happened, at least in the US so far, and everywhere else citizenship is so cheap that it holds little guarantee that the holder has values that would be desirable in someone who votes for our governments. My example above shows why these kinds of jokes should probably be abandoned altogether as it is either true, about to be true, or provides valuable intel to enemies of Western civilization as to something that perhaps they could actually do.

This story from a humour site is a brilliant example. It fooled some truly intelligent people for quite a while who were certain that it was a factual story. To be honest the only thing that gives it away is some of the language. When this really does happen, they won’t say “as loud as a jet engine” they will say, ‘servicing the islamic community for 15 miles”

The problem with this story isn’t that if it isn’t true, it will be true any day now. The problem is it should be funny because it is so unlikely. Anyone notice how jokes about losing one’s head just doesn’t come across like they used to?

  1. 1/ A rewarding listen all the way through, and a little bonus, at the very end, to hear backslide as a past participle in the term <backslidden Christian, which sent me to the OED. The dictionary’s first example is from 1581:

‘The onely righteousnesse of Fayth, from whence they were backslyden.’

I wonder if the usage has been preserved in England?

Coffee from kafir seems a bit dubious. The OED again (1978 reprint):

‘…a derivative of a vb. root qahiya “to have no appetite.” Some have conjectured that it is a foreign, perh. African word disguised, and have thought it connected with the name of Kaffa in the south Abyssinian highlands, where the plant appears native. But of this there is no evidence, and the name qahwah is not given to the berry or plant, which is called bunn, the native name in Shoa being bun.

‘The European langs. generally appear to have got the name from Turkish kahveh, about 1600, perh. through It. caffe…’

But it’s a good story, and who knows, evidence might be around somewhere to support it.

  2. 4 – Saudi is doing the rational thing, it is too bad that Iran isn’t being lead by rational people, the Iranian leaders want to create hell on earth and I believe that part of that hell is having large portions of Iran destroyed.
