The Islamic State group, which overran large areas of Iraq and Syria, has set up training camps in eastern Libya and the American military is closely monitoring the situation, a top US general said Wednesday.
Western countries have been increasingly worried that Libya’s political turmoil could provide fertile ground for Islamic extremists, but General David Rodriguez ruled out military action on the “nascent” camps in the immediate future.
“They put training camps out there,” Rodriguez, head of US Africa Command, told reporters, referring to the IS organisation.

The Islamic State (IS/ISIS/ISIL) is struggling with a severe shortage of clean water and basic medicinal necessities in the city of Mosul, Iraq, where the terror group remains under control. Furthermore, a new water-borne disease has emerged, creating the potential for plague-like conditions for its citizenry, AFP reports.
While the Islamic State trumpets a better life under its rule, what’s happening in Mosul has become a PR disaster for the jihadi outfit. Residents have reported that the city’s water treatment center is not working consistently, largely due to the constant battles in the area.

RUSSIAN authorities say gunmen travelling in several cars killed at least three traffic police officers at a checkpoint in the capital of the restive North Caucasus republic of Chechnya.
Although unrest is common in Russia’s North Caucasus, forceful security measures adopted by iron-fisted Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have spared the city of Grozny of significant violence for several years.

Woman Held in Abu Dhabi Killing of American Teacher Ibolya Ryan
A local woman has been arrested in connection with the slaying of an American teacher in an Abu Dhabi mall’s bathroom, officials said Thursday.
Saif Bin Zayed, minister of the interior for the United Arab Emirates, told a press conference Wednesday that the “face covered” suspect seen in security footage fleeing the scene of the crime is an Emirati national in her late 30s now in police custody. The suspect’s name and motive were not immediately clear.
The woman in custody is also suspected of planting a bomb outside an American doctor’s home in Abu Dhabi after the initial attack, according to police. Investigators allegedly found bomb-making materials at the suspect’s home.

Yemen’s Qaeda threatens to kill US hostage in video
Al-Qaeda in Yemen released a video Thursday threatening to execute a US journalist taken hostage last year.
In the video dated December 2014, the hostage said his name was Luke Somers, 33, and that he was kidnapped more than a year ago in Sanaa.
The photojournalist was kidnapped in the Yemeni capital in September 2013, US-based monitoring agency SITE Intelligence said.
The video featured a message by Nasser bin Ali Al-Ansi, of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), threatening to kill the hostage in three days if Washington failed to meet unspecified demands.
A Yemen defence ministry website said last week that Al-Qaeda had moved hostages including an American journalist, as well as a Briton and a South African, days before a raid in southeastern Hadramawt province to free him.
In the video, Ansi mentioned a “failed operation” in Hadramawt that left militants dead. He described it as the “latest foolish action” by the United States
Yemen had confirmed the operation but made no mention of US forces taking part.
US media reported that American commandos had carried out the raid with Yemeni troops to try to free the US captive.
The New York Times said the commandos found eight other hostages during the raid, including six Yemenis, but not the American.
AQAP is considered by Washington as the most dangerous affiliate of Al-Qaeda, but it is not known for frequently executing foreign hostages.[…]

Obama administration eager to prevent new sanctions against Iran
After returning empty-handed from talks in Vienna with Iran on its nuclear program, the US administration will now go on the offensive in Congress to dissuade lawmakers from passing new sanctions against Tehran and prevent a collapse of the critical international negotiations.
The talks ended last week with the US and other major powers in the so-called P5+1 group missing a deadline and managing just an extension of their discussions with Iran.
Instead, the seven nations agreed to extend an existing interim deal for a further seven months until June 30, with the hope of drawing up a framework accord by March.
[…]Some experts in Washington say new sanctions would be a disaster.
“More tough sanctions now may very well be self defeating and they could make Iran and the other P5+1 members leave negotiations and fail to accomplish the meaningful achievements,” warned Elizabeth Rosenberg, an analyst at the Center for New American Security.
“It could cause the talks to stall”, she said, adding that “new sanctions won’t stop nuclear enrichment activity.”
If Congress does pass new sanctions, Iran could react in two ways, said Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
“Possibility number one is that Iran says ‘we are going to leave negotiations but we are not going to recommence our activities’. Possibility number 2, which I think is the more likely one, is that they say ‘we are going to recommence our activities but we are going to remain in the negotiation.’ I think that is the most likely option,” he said.
In either case the Iranians “are confident that the world is going to blame the United States for the failure, not blame Iran because they would say it is the Congress that exploded this deal.”

I have watched what happened when Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton drastically reduced the US military, so I knew total chaos was coming when Obama started reducing the military to pre WWII levels. In the near future something will happen to make the vast majority of people realize we are in a war of survival and hopefully we will react like we did in WWII.
Leading UK Muslim group assured Brotherhood won’t be banned
According to the president of the Muslim Association of Britain, the British government has given assurances that it will not proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood on the basis of its review into the movement, its ideas and policies
The UK prime ministerial review was ordered by David Cameron in April into all activities, ideology and policies of the Muslim Brotherhood.
While the review team, led by Sir John Jenkins, UK ambassador to Saudi Arabia, completed the task and handed over its final report in July, the government has not yet published the results.
The British media has speculated that the results could be controversial.
“The government confirmed to us that it will not designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organisation,” Dr Omar Al-Hamdoon, president of Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), told Ahram Online.

AUSTRALIA – SYDNEY – Proposed mosque site in Sydney’s south-west attacked
The 6,000 square metre industrial site on Enterprise Avenue has become the target of anti-Muslim groups as the factory has been peppered with anti-Islam and race hate stickers.
The United Muslims of Australia (UMA) purchased the site in July this year in the hope of turning it into a mosque and multi-purpose community centre.
UMA estimated the damage will cost about $50,000 to repair due to severe damage to electrical systems.
“The place has been ransacked, they’ve gone right through and ripped out all the electrical,” UMA operations officer Mohammad Kourouche said.
“They’ve ripped out all the power, electricity and generators, they’ve taken the nuts and bolts out of everything and probably caused about $50,000 worth of damage.”
Shaykh Shady Alsuleiman from UMA said the incidents were disheartening.
“Unfortunately we had a few incidents on that site, a break and enter, vandalism and anti-Islamic stickers stuck on the place and we’re very upset to hear that,” he said.

The anti-Islamic group the Australian Defence League posted a photo of their members outside the site with their middle fingers erected.
