1. Boko Haram militants take Chibok, Hong and Gombi
(ANSA) – Kano, November 14 – The Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram has taken control of the town of Chibok in northeastern Nigeria, Nigerian Senator Ali Ndume said Friday.
Boko Haram militants kidnapped 276 Chibok schoolgirls in April.
The group also seized control of Hong and Gombi, two towns in the state of Adamawa, after having been pushed out of the commercial center of Mubi, a city the militants had taken control of two weeks ago declaring it “the city of Islam”.

When Dave Leonard wanted to raise money for charity he decided the best thing to do was aim for seasonal cheer and dress as Father Christmas.
Barnsley Council allowed him to decorate his minibus taxi with lights, festoon it with baubles and fix reindeer and snowmen figures around the vehicle to create the feeling of a moving grotto. They also supported the 43-year-old to dress as Santa.
However council officials drew the line at one thing many would consider vital to a Santa outfit – his long white beard.
David Leonard has been driving round Barnsley dressed as Santa to raise money for a hospice, but he has been told by council officials he cannot wear the white beard as he won’t be identifiable by his taxi ID card
Officials said wearing the beard would mean Mr Leonard could not be identified and would also not match his taxi ID card. This card has to hang in all taxi vehicles in Barnsley and means drivers can be identified by customers if they do something wrong or break the law.
(Just for the record, muslims can wear massive big beards and ball gowns etc. in cabs or anywhere and women can wear a burka anywhere at all but a regular British man cannot wear a Santa suit near Christmas in case he what, rapes somebody?)

Millions of YouTube viewers have been captivated by the ‘Syrian hero boy‘ who manages to rescue a little girl while under gunfire. Now a group of Norwegian filmmakers have told BBC Trending they are behind it. They say it was filmed on location in Malta this summer with the intention of being presented as real.
Lars Klevberg, a 34-year-old film director based in Oslo, wrote a script after watching news coverage of the conflict in Syria. He says he deliberately presented the film as reality in order to generate a discussion about children in conflict zones.

Breitbart News asked Dean of the National Cathedral, Gary Hall, whether it was appropriate to host Muslim prayers on the 100th anniversary of the last Caliph’s call for Jihad against nonbelievers, which resulted in the slaughter of innocent Christians.
Hall responded, “I did not know that it was that anniversary. But knowing it now, it actually seems to be more appropriate to have an event that is on an anniversary of a hard time… There have been atrocities on both sides. There have been extremists on both sides.”
He added: “The second thing, is that, the Christian church… a few centuries before was doing similar kinds of things in the holy land with the Crusader states and the Crusades themselves. Almost every religious tradition is guilty at some point of fostering violence in the name of that religious tradition.
Breitbart News asked Hall whether he knew that all of the Islamic organizers of the interfaith prayer event have been associated or direct members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
“No, I’m not aware of that,” said the Dean of the Cathedral. “We’re a faith community… This essentially was the time to come together and pray. I have not heard those allegations. I don’t think that they are germane to an event that is just essentially a prayer event.”

AUSTRALIA – Brisbane – Obama announces $3 billion contribution to Green Climate Fund
President Barack Obama on Saturday formally announced a $3 billion U.S. contribution to an international fund to help poor countries cope with the effects of climate change.
“Today, I’m announcing that the United States will take another important step. We will contribute $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund to help developing nations deal with climate change,” he said in a speech at Queensland University in Brisbane, where he is attending the G20 meeting.
The contribution doubles what other countries had previously pledged ahead of a Nov. 20 deadline.

An exclusive hotel has banned alcohol and pork after being taken over by a Middle Eastern businessman who wants to run it ‘in accordance with Sharia law’.
The strict Islamic policy was imposed without warning this week at London’s Bermondsey Square Hotel – where the bar and grill was previously run by Masterchef judge Gregg Wallace.
Staff said the new rules were swiftly implemented on Tuesday on the orders of the new Muslim owner, forcing waiters to tell disgruntled guests that much of the menu was no longer available.
Customers calling to make reservations are warned they will not be allowed to order beer, wine or spirits because the hotel is under ‘new management’. However, they can buy alcohol from outside and drink it in their rooms.
Nearby restaurants said they saw a surge in business when customers walked out of the hotel’s grill on Tuesday.

UAE lists Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist group
The United Arab Emirates has formally designated the Muslim Brotherhood and local affiliates as terrorist groups, state news agency WAM reported on Saturday citing a cabinet decree.
The Gulf Arab state has also designated Nusra Front and the Islamic State, whose fighters are battling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as terrorist organisations, along with other Shi’ite militant groups such as the Houthi movement in Yemen.
Saturday’s move echoes a similar move by Saudi Arabia in March and could increase pressure on Qatar whose backing for the group has sparked a row with fellow Gulf monarchies.
It also underscores concern in the U.S.-allied oil producer about political Islam and the influence of the Brotherhood, whose Sunni Islamist doctrines challenge the principle of dynastic rule.
The UAE has designated al-Islah group, which is a local Islamist group banned in the UAE for its alleged link to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, as a terrorist group.
UAE authorities have cracked down on members of al-Islah and jailed scores of Islamists convicted of forming an illegal branch of the Brotherhood. Al-Islah denies any such link, but says it shares some of the Brotherhood’s Islamist ideology.
In an unprecedented public move, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates recalled their ambassadors to Qatar in March, accusing Doha of failing to abide by an agreement not to interfere in one another’s internal affairs.

Erdogan says Muslims, not Columbus, discovered Americas
Istanbul (AFP) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that the Americas were discovered by Muslims in the 12th century, nearly three centuries before Christopher Columbus set foot there.
“Contacts between Latin America and Islam date back to the 12th century. Muslims discovered America in 1178, not Christopher Columbus,” the conservative president said in a televised speech during an Istanbul summit of Muslim leaders from Latin America.
“Muslim sailors arrived in America from 1178. Columbus mentioned the existence of a mosque on a hill on the Cuban coast,” Erdogan said.
Erdogan said that Ankara was even prepared to build a mosque at the site mentioned by the Genoese explorer.
“I would like to talk about it to my Cuban brothers. A mosque would go perfectly on the hill today,” the Turkish leader said.

Saturday Nov 15 204 – Italy rescues 900 as migrant flow across Med continues
Italian authorities said Saturday that more than 900 people had been rescued at sea in 24 hours, in a blow to hopes that the approach of winter would stem the flow of migrants attempting perilous crossings of the Mediterranean.
Most of the rescued people were initially aboard boats which had got into distress in open waters in the channel between Libya and Sicily, a narrow but treacherous strait in which thousands have drowned in recent years while trying to reach Europe.
A total of 477 migrants were delivered to Porto Empedocle on Sicily’s southern coast after being picked up by a liquid gas tanker, the Gaz Concord, overnight, and a further 354 were due to be brought ashore by an Italian navy patrol boat at nearby Pozzallo later in the day.
The coastguard also intercepted a yacht with 80 would-be migrants on board off the port of Crotone on the southeastern “heel” of the Italian mainland.
The overcrowded leisure vessel had spent six days sailing from Turkey, was travelling under a fake Italian ensign and had children on board, four of whom were hospitalised after disembarking.
Police arrested the skipper on suspicion of people smuggling.

Saturday Nov 15 2014 – Anti-immigration protests in Rome
Demonstrators gathered in Rome on Saturday morning to protest against Mayor Ignazio Marino.
Around 1,000 took to the streets to protest against his policies, saying he has abandoned the suburbs, allowing immigration without adequate facilities and leaving the area in ruin.
It comes after days of unrest targeting immigrants in Tor Sapienza on the outskirts of the Italian capital.
Residents of the neighbourhood chanted ‘clown’ at Marino when he went to visit following violent clashes between residents and refugees earlier in the week.
A writer who teaches Italian to foreigners in the suburbs believes, “it is a war between poor people,” he added that, “It is not right that the institutions intervene in the suburbs only in emergency situations.”
Rome city officials began transferring refugees from a migrant reception centre on Thursday after repeated attacks by residents.
Italian commentators believe some of the perpetrators to be members of far-right groups, citing chants of ‘Il Duce’, refering to Italy’s former fascist leader Mussolini.
The working class neighbourhood of Tor Sapienza has become the frontline in a battle between residents and migrants. Of the area’s 16,000 residents, less than half are Italian citizens.
The country has seen a large number of asylum seekers landing on their shores fleeing conflicts in Africa and Syria. It’s coastal search and rescue operation, Mare Nostrum, has rescued more than 150,000 people since November 2013 before it ended operations last month.
It comes after a week of protests against unemployment, the economic crisis and labour reforms.
