1. Muhammad and Islam’s Sex Slaves

Once again, Islamic State Muslims are pointing to Islam in order to justify what the civilized world counts as atrocities.

According to an October 13 report in the Telegraph,

Islamic State jihadists have given detailed theological reasons justifying why they have taken thousands of women from the Iraqi Yazidi minority and sold them into sex slavery.

A new article in the Islamic State English-language online magazine Dabiq not only admits the practice but justifies it according to the theological rulings of early Islam.

“After capture, the Yazidi women and children were then divided according to the Sharia amongst the fighters of the Islamic State who participated,” the article says.

7. National Post: Iranian embassy had direct role in funding controversial cultural centre in Ottawa, legal battle over assets reveals

“The embassy was obviously involved with the cultural centre,” Jamal El-Husseini wrote in the affidavit obtained by the National Post. “The centre also operated a Farsi school for children. The teachers at the Farsi school were paid by the embassy, and the embassy sometimes paid other expenses on behalf of the Mobin Foundation.”

But while its website said its mission was to “provide training and education of Iran’s art and artifacts” as well as its “culture and traditions,” the centre also hosted events that promoted the Islamic revolution that brought theocratic rule to Iran.

The confirmation of the regime’s direct role in bankrolling the cultural centre is also noteworthy because of the embassy’s stated intention to recruit Canadians to serve Iran’s interests under the guise of cultural outreach programs.

Kurdish fighters in the embattled city of Kobane, along the Syrian-Turkish border, say they have succeeded in pushing out Islamic State forces from most of the city.

Intensified US airstrikes are said to have played a decisive role in enabling Kurds to mount a counterattack after holding out against the odds for over a month against numerically-superior and better armed ISIS terrorists. […] “Maybe in the few past days [Islamic State] was controlling about 40% of the city of Kobane, but now… less than 20% of the city is under control of [ISIS],” Idriss Nassan said.

  1. Terror-related crime ‘stretches police’ – Scotland Yard (BBC, Oct 17, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-29649010

“Police are being “stretched” by an “exceptionally high” number of inquiries into Islamist-related extremism, Scotland Yard has said. Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley also said “dozens” of UK families had sought police help in stopping relatives travelling to Syria.

He spoke of a “step-change” in counter-terrorism as foreign conflicts such as the one in Syria attract UK nationals. Mr Rowley said the challenge for police would “run for years”.

There have been 218 terrorism-related arrests in the UK this year, with 16 people charged with alleged extremist activity in Syria.

Scotland Yard said the volume, range and pace of counter-terrorism activity had changed dramatically as conflicts in Syria and other countries drew in people from the UK. Mr Rowley – Scotland Yard head of counter-terrorism – added that the threat featured a “new dimension”, amid growing fears over the influence of Islamic State (IS).

He said officers were foiling several attack plots each year, including what he describes as “complex conspiracies” and “spontaneous yet deadly attacks”.

He added that in some cases police had acted early, even if that meant there was no prosecution.

“There are some different dynamics today, where we have an increasing number of people who weren’t previously on the terrorism radar being attracted by an ideology they see on social media,” he said….”

The question is how do you tell that to an adult who was single parented and shouted at all their live? Offending anyone would be the last thing for their mind to process. “Here, take it all…. Jesus said…. Take it all” (Not what the passage says, but only what their mashed brain could read).

  3. Australians warned to leave Iraq immediately

The Department of Foreign Affairs is warning hundreds of Australians still believed to be in Iraq to get out immediately while Baghdad airport “remains open”, underscoring the encroaching threat Islamic State fighters pose to the country’s capital.

With the militant group reported to be making gains west of the capital and isolated forces reaching the outskirts – putting them within artillery range of Baghdad airport – the Australian government appears to be grappling with the possibility the airport could close.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has long warned people not to travel to the strife-torn country and to leave if possible. But on Thursday it stepped up its warning, advising people to get out while they still could. It is understood there are about 180 Australians registered with the department as being in Iraq, though actual figures are likely to be higher.

“Australians in Iraq, including in Iraqi Kurdistan, should depart immediately while commercial flights continue to operate and airports in Baghdad and Erbil remain open,” the latest travel warning stated.

The Islamic State has been making gains in the western Iraqi province of Anbar. The New York Times cited local officials on Thursday as saying the militants were preparing to besiege a strategic rural town, 40 kilometres west of the capital, with tanks, armoured vehicles and heavy artillery.

They have also previously been reported to have a prominent presence in Abu Ghraib, just west of Baghdad.

But Acting Chief of the Defence Force, Ray Griggs, said on Thursday that reports of Baghdad’s imminent fall were overblown.

“People have been saying that Baghdad could be falling within a week for about three months … my understanding is it’s stable in terms of movements,” he told ABC Radio. “And in key parts of the area, the Iraqi security forces are holding their own.”

Vice-Admiral Griggs rejected suggestions that the coalition air campaign – in which RAAF Super Hornets and support planes are playing a role – was not slowing the militants’ advance.

“The air strikes have been effective in changing IS’s tactics, the way they operate,” he said.

A spokesman for the Foreign Affairs Department said Australia retained its diplomatic presence in Baghdad led by ambassador Lyndall Sachs.

He said the department “attaches the highest priority to the safety and security of staff overseas” and was monitoring the security situation closely.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State’s propaganda machine, Al Hayat Media, has posted online their latest recruitment video, featuring British, French and German fighters urging supporters in the West to join them. A fighter identified as Abu Dauoud from Germany baits the international coalition to come and fight the militants. “O German, English, French, Dutch, Italian, American, Australian, you gather and unite to fight Islam,” he said. “Come, we are waiting for you. We have been waiting for this meeting for over 1400 years.”
