Filipino force defied UN commander in Golan crisis

This is extraordinary. It is time for an open and hard analysis of the UN now. Imagine if they had surrendered to Islamic State terrorists or other related groups.

Manila says it ordered its troops to fight back and escape, instead of surrendering to the Syrian Islamists as the UN wished

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — The Philippine military said Monday that a UN peacekeeping commander in the Golan Heights should be investigated for allegedly asking Filipino troops to surrender to Syrian rebels who had attacked and surrounded their camp.

Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang said he advised the 40 Filipino peacekeepers not to lay down their arms, and they defied the UN peacekeeping commander’s order. Instead, they staged a daring escape from the Golan camp over the weekend, ending a tense, dayslong standoff.

    • Just finished a book about the Bataan Death March during WW2. Unspeakable for Americans; Filipinos were massacred outright in the tens of thousands. A very few escaped by playing dead so they were able to testify at the War Crimes Proceedings in Manila in 1946.
