Well, we were for him, before we were against him, and now we are for him again. Oddly nothing on his side of the equation has changed. Its just that our side forgot what we once knew before the change in Western foreign policy in the 70s, and now we remember why we had it again. Lets hope we can get back to stability before the muslims get nukes or start sending Ebola cases into our major cities.

8. Read this New Republic article which attempts to disassociate Islam from the actions of religious muslims that Westerners feel make it look bad. It is a ferociously bad article and uses light mockery, as so many articles of this kind do, to try and ‘prove’ the impossible by sophistry and fallacious reasoning. In fact, it doesn’t offer proof per se, so much as a variation of reductio ad absurdum.
Below, is the comment I am trying to leave at that site:
If anyone wanted an example of what the word, ‘sophistry’ means this article would make a great example of it. It is basically saying that because people occasionally flush food down the toilet the entire plumbing system of the USA must be disasembled.
Yes, psychopaths and sociopaths and exceptionally violent people are drawn to Islam and drawn to join jihad and the Islamic State. The question should be, ‘why are these people attracted to this ideology and this cause’ and not an absurd assumption that because they are it somehow negates the attributes of islam.
There are many attempts to disassociate Islam from its own history, actions and scripture to try and not upset the narrative that all religions are equally good, and if that fails, at least equally bad. Some of these attempts are accidental. Like the idea that we have to treat islamic terror as if it was a crime and punishment issue and not a political-military one. But this article is so poorly reasoned that it causes cognitive dissonance trying to follow its thinking. It therefore is likely more deliberate in its attempt to cloud our minds to the facts.
Thank you M., Richard, T.L., Wrath of Khan, and many others. Vigilance my friends. Awareness. understanding of the enemies methods. We can know this, we can spread this, and we can beat this.
What I think the writer was trying to say is that islam is the excuse, not the problem.
I happen to disagree but I do consider a certain percentage in the barbarism taking place to be disaffected, idiotic individuals unable to make much of themselves in western society. However, no one can argue that the leadership and certainly the 9/11 hijackers were highly educated from middle class and wealthy families. From what I can discern they were motivated by islamic pounding that the “other” needed to be punished.
Over the last 1400 years there are myriad examples of extreme violence and brutality in islamic history. It’s a pretty hard argument to make that over the history of islam the actions of today should be viewed as an anomaly of disaffected persons seeking to latch on to a cause, not really knowing anything about the cause. Because what is happening in today’s world is well in keeping with the history of islam.
Thats how I see it.
