1. UK: City Council to fly Palestinian flag above town hall
City Council to fly Palestinian flag above town hall
Preston City Council will be flying the Palestinian flag above the town hall tomorrow as a mark of solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Despite protests throughout the world, Israel has continued its assault and aggression on the civilian population of Gaza.
2. Jihadists in Iraq Order Women Undergo Genital Mutilation
(AFP) — Jihadists in Iraq have ordered that all women between the ages of 11 and 46 undergo female genital mutilation, a UN official said Thursday.
“It is a fatwa (or religious edict) of ISIS, we learnt this this morning,” said Jacqueline Badcock, the number two UN official in Iraq.
She was referring to the Islamic State, formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) which took over large swathes of the country last month.
(I wonder what morning coffee was like over at the Ministry of tourism in the Tard Reich that day. Gonna be hard to spin that one I bet. Come to the TR! we guarantee you will lose weight and have an intimate experience! More at the BBC)
3. I have been working on a possible tourism graphic for the new Tard Reich. If they want it, they can use it free of royalties.
4. Mindanao’s only Christian municipality does not want to be part of Islamic region
(Article in link above and videos on this below the fold. This is an important subject. The fact that a majority Christian town will have to live under sharia law due to a peace deal made by the Philippines bodes poorly for the rest of the world. As an afterthought, the more I get into the book by Chesterton, the more I begin to understand its genius)
Thank you M, ML, Maria J, GoV,

#2 I wish more people realized that this is coming to our countries if we don’t fight back.
#3 I love it.

Abu Bakr al Baghdadi has a doctorate in Islam, so it’s certain that he is aware that female genital mutilation is not mentioned anywhere in either the Hadiths or the Quran. FGM may be inspired by the attitudes of Islam, but it is definitely not a part of Salafist Islam. Add that to the fact that it is not a common practice in Iraq or Syria, and I just can’t see someone as smart as al-Baghdadi pissing all the women off like that for no reason. I’ll bet it’s BS…:)
“B has a doctorate in Islam”
Apparently he does.
“FGM is not mentioned anywhere in either the Hadiths or the Quran”
I believe it is mentioned in the hadiths. It is as well for example mentioned in Umdat al Salik wa Uddat al Nasik (Reliance of the Traveller and Tools of the Worshipper, also commonly known by its shorter title Reliance of the Traveller).
“but it is definitely not a part of Salafist Islam”
All mainstream Sunni schools of jurisprudence seem to agree to a certain point, that is, they consider FGM at least to be encouraged or a courtesy to the husband. At this point I am not too sure to pull this quickly from the top of my head, but the “strictest” school (considering this practice) may be the Shafi-i one… OK – here it is straight from the Reliance:
“e4.3 Circumcision is obligatory O: for both men and women. For men it consists of removing the prepuce from the penis, and for women, removing the prepuce (Ar. bazr) of the clitoris (n: not the clitoris itself, as some mistakenly assert). (A: Hanbalis hold that circumcision of women is not obligatory but sunna, while Hanafis consider it a mere courtesy to the husband.)”
Just as a side note, bazr in Arabic actually does mean clitoris in English. So we run into a translation certification problem in this place (i.e. Sheikh Keller vs Al-Azhar or vice versa). Still the overall context remains the same….
And since Salafists consider themselves as people of the Sunnah, it pretty much follows that they ought to practice FGM in some form or another, too. (Should not cut “too deeply” or something like that.)
“Add that to the fact that it is not a common practice in Iraq”
Actually it is (or has been) a common practice in Iraq (even until very recently). This was repeatedly demonstrated just as for example here:
Female Genital Mutilation in Iraq: An Empirical Study in Kirkuk Province

“I’ll bet it’s BS”
Well, the fatwa may be BS, however observables on the ground have to be respected, too. There were even repeated indications that as the Muslim Brood in Egypt came to power, they again started promoting this practice (as something virtuous, purifying and hence desirable). It does not have to be a fatwa after all. Social pressure, a sermon here and there, a “convincing” lecture during an Islamic workshop, ect. can be totally sufficient…
Militants ‘kill 60’ in ambush on Iraq prison convoy (BBC, July 24, 2014)
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-28459360
“Suicide attackers have mounted a bomb and gun attack on a prison convoy in Iraq, killing 51 prisoners and nine police officers, security sources say.
Roadside bombs exploded as the convoy was taking the prisoners from the town of Taji to the capital Baghdad 24km (15 miles) away, justice ministry and medical sources told Reuters.
Gunmen opened fire and a battle ensued with security forces, AFP reports.
It is thought the prisoners were being evacuated at the time.
The prisoners, who were suspected militants, were put in a convoy after mortar rounds hit military bases in Taji at dawn on Thursday, Iraqi officials told AP, speaking on condition of anonymity…”

They say that we love life and they love death. Well not quite
I was thinking that even corpses have taken to wearing suicide belts. But that is a contradiction.
