On Saturday night July 12 in Paris, at an Arab-Muslim event that it would be dishonest to characterize as pro-Palestinian because they have never shown up when Palestinian Arabs are starved in Syria or when Rebels have blocked access to refugee camps; these young French Muslims attacked two synagogues with the intention of lynching the faithful – no, we are not in Egypt in the time of Mohammed Morsi, but in a France where the media incites hatred of Israel.

9. Today’s Lowell Green show on CFRA
This show was mainly about the Israel/Gaza conflict. It wasn’t amazing. no fantastic callers and the host was luke-warm on everything, mixing in a subject about funny book titles for an outgoing Ontario Premiere’s autobiography to generate calls near the end. But if you want something to listen to while doing the dishes or making dinner that gives a sort of, elbow-in-the-bathwater sense of the Canadian psyche on the matter, it isn’t bad. Rational Canadians in fact, should be very proud overall. The Indian caller was really good but sadly the host didn’t really understand him. I wish he had made his point more clearly but I am pretty sure readers of this site will understand exactly what he was trying to say.

Rocket attacks in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula kill eight (BBC, July 14, 2014)
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-28290795
“Seven civilians and one soldier have been killed in two rocket attacks in the northern Sinai peninsula, Egypt’s military has said.
One rocket hit a crowded market place in the coastal city of el-Arish on Sunday night.
Minutes later, two more rockets fell on a nearby security compound.
Jihadist militants based in Sinai have stepped up attacks on soldiers and police since the army ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi last year.
Egyptian media quoted a security source as saying early reports suggested that Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, a jihadist group linked to al-Qaeda, fired the rocket that hit the market place.
The target was probably the adjoining military headquarters for the Sinai region, the source added….”
France sets up anti-Islamist force in Africa’s Sahel (BBC, July 14, 2014)
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28298230
“France is to set up a new military operation in the Sahel region of northern Africa in an effort to stop the emergence of jihadist groups. About 3,000 French soldiers will be deployed, along with troops from Mali, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Chad.
On Monday France ended its military deployment in Mali, set up 18 months ago after an Islamist insurgency there. French forces helped the Malian government recapture the north from al-Qaeda-linked militants last year.
The new long-term force, named Operation Barkhane, will be based in the Chadian capital Ndjamena, but will have a mandate to operate across borders. It will target Islamist extremists in Mali, Chad and Niger.
The French troops will be backed by six fighter jets, 20 helicopters and three drones. The main objective of Operation Barkhane is counter-terrorism, Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has said.
The new deployment will take place in the coming days….”

Fareed’s Take: Is U.S. Throwing Fuel On Middle East Fire?
Yeah, I guess – probably plagiarized, but still…
He is one of the reporters who are putting Obama’s treason down to incompetence.
I think it’s more complicated.
Fareed’s NO neutral reporter. It seems he’s not on the MB payroll, like so many of his counterparts.
But MB doesn’t have a monopoly. Maybe Gulf interests, hard to know.
Could be, trying to figure loyalties and motives in that region is real complicated.
Bomb kills seven soldiers in rare Al Qaida attack inside Algeria (worldtribune, July 14, 2014)
http://www.worldtribune.com/2014/07/14/al-qaida-bomb-kills-seven-soldiers-rare-attack-inside-algeria/
The Algerian Army has been rocked by an apparent Al Qaida bombing.
At least seven soldiers were said to have been killed by an improvised explosive device on July 12 in western Algeria.
Officials said the bombing targeted a military truck destined for an army base near Ein Kercha, 500 kilometers west of Algiers.
“Three soldiers and four communal guards died Saturday following a
hand-made bomb blast, near Ein Eicha, commune of Sidi Chaib, in Sidi
Bel-Abbes,” the Algerian Defense Ministry said.
In a statement on July 13, the Defense Ministry did not identify the
attackers. The ministry said the army responded to the blast with a
“cordon-and-search operation in the area.”
The bombing marked a rare lethal operation by Al Qaida in Algeria.
Officials said the military has driven out most fighters of Al Qaida
Organization in the Islamic Maghreb.
“This criminal act has only reinforced the army determination to chase
and eliminate the terrorist groups and clear the country of their heinous
acts,” the Defense Ministry said.”
Egypt seizes rockets being smuggled into Gaza Strip (worldtribune, July 14, 2014)
http://www.worldtribune.com/2014/07/14/report-egypt-raids-gaza-tunnel-seizes-soviet-origin-rockets/
“… MENA said the shipment consisted of 20 rockets and launchers, meant to be transported in the tunnels that connect Rafah, divided between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
“There was a battle with Palestinian Islamist militias at the opening of
one of the tunnels,” MENA said on July 12.
The report came amid the mini-war between Israel and the Gaza Strip, in
which Palestinians fired some 700 rockets into the Jewish state. MENA did
not say which group in Sinai was meant to acquire the Palestinian weapons.
But Egyptian security sources said the rockets captured in Rafah were
meant to be fired toward Israel from the Sinai Peninsula. They said Egypt
and Israel intensified security cooperation to stop the flow of weapons to
and from the Gaza Strip….”
What can I say?
Nothing original about Jew-hate.
The pain is always fresh, though. Each blow hurts as much as the first.
9/ Good to hear that much support for Israel from callers and that they aren’t fooled by all the media disinformation around the conflict.
Don, you’ll really love this one:
A group of NYC fire-fighters – volunteers – left for Israel to help put out fires from rockets falling in the most affected civilian areas. I don’t have the link, I’ll try to find it.
So much hatred, so much pure evil just about everywhere. Then, first thing this morning I found out about these incredible, low-key heroes. They figured they could help, so they would. Just that simple.
True Christians, they don’t mess around. They’re rushing to help their Jewish brethren on instinct.
They couldn’t possibly know was what that solidarity means… well, to me, for starters.
May G-d bless them and keep them, may their generations flourish on the merits of these brave, generous souls.
Now it’s gotten bigger! And nobody mentions that first NYC team.
(That’s ok, G-d knows. They started it. Maybe it’s just a time for good deeds to kick-in all over. Maybe ~ snowball~)
Top US firefighters help Israel amid rocket fire
Delegation of firefighters from US, including 9/11 first responders, arrive in Israel to help Israeli counterparts deal with fires caused by ongoing rocket fire.

Thanks yucki, that’s a great story, and it’s good to hear an American firefighter making the connection to 9/11 explicit as well, recognizing it’s another front in the same war.
