1/ Sending our children off to university is a crap shoot. Some we recognize afterward, some we can’t. Universities are in the business of stealing children, getting them in these added-on years of high school in the protracted adolescence we have made of what used to be early adulthood, unmooring them through Diversity and ‘critical race theory’ and ethnicity-as-qualification and all such b.s., Introduction to Victimology, Social Constructology, scorn for the family, debased language and binge drinking and hook-up culture, then drawing their rudderless intellects into the great fleet of the doctrinaire left, sails hoisted to run with prevailing winds. Then they’re gone and we never see them again.
That’s sad…and true.

But then its not the universities that are responsible for this mess. Politicians wanted claim, particularly at election time, that under their government more and more young people were going to universities. Thus standards were lowered to enable young people who were never for HE, to be admitted. Then courses had to be dumbed down, as well as a lot of mickey mouse subjects created, to cater for these people.
The result – degrees more or less worthless. Everyone suffers, including the bright young ones, as they have been shortchanged.

I suppose the Americans are denying the Afghan interpreters visas because it would weaken the narrative that Obama got bin Laden, al Qaeda’s on the run, and the Taliban is a spent force. The only reason Barack Obama is president today is because an alarming number of Americans think, for reasons that escape me, that he is an expert in foreign affairs and is probably wrapping it all up as well as can be expected ‘after the mess Bush left’. If the interpreters need to flee Afghanistan as the Americans leave, that makes Obama look bad, so the interpreters get left behind to get beheaded. Gee! That sounds a bit like Chris Stevens in Benghazi, doesn’t it…? I can’t believe how purely evil President Wag-the-dog has turned out to be…
Imagine that your only news source was “The Jon Stewart Show” and “The Colbert Report” – literally! Your only source of information! The Democrats have a great many people convinced that the Republicans are nothing but ridiculous cartoon characters, not worth listening to or conversing with.
