2. ‘We will take Spain back’: Syrian jihadists

Two Syrian jihadists have posted a video in which they have promised to reclaim Spain in the name of Islam.

3. Body of Arab boy found in Jerusalem forest

Arabs from Shuafat claim the boy was kidnapped by Jews in a revenge attack, and certain Israeli elements rushed to lay suspicion on Jews for the act.

The area were the kidnapping happened has security cameras installed, and police are reviewing the footage.

There are unconfirmed reports that police have arrested a number of Arab suspects who were found driving in a car matching the description of the kidnapping vehicle, with suspicious items in the car.

4. Pew Report: Concerns About Islamic Extremism on the Rise in Middle East

As well-publicised bouts of Islamist violence plague the Middle East, concern about Islamic extremism is high among countries with substantial Muslim populations, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center. Lebanese, Tunisians, Egyptians, Jordanians and Turks are all more worried about the extremist threat than they were a year ago.

IBT – Buddhist-Muslim Clashes Erupt In Mandalay, Myanmar

A blog post alleging that a Buddhist woman was raped by Muslim men led to clashes between Myanmar’s Buddhist and Muslim communities in Mandalay, the nation’s second-largest city.

Three Buddhists and one Muslim person were reportedly injured and a number of shops owned by Muslims and a mosque were ransacked even as riot police stepped in to prevent further attacks, which began late on Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning, BBC reported.

The situation reportedly worsened when the blog post was shared on Facebook by Ashin Wirathu, who has been called the “Burmese Bin Laden,” and is the leader of the notorious 969 group, which has been described as a “Buddhist neo-Nazi movement” for its espousal of a narrow, Buddhist nationalist cause and its opposition to the spread of Islam in Myanmar.

Thank you ML, Maria J, M, GoV for the help and more. In fact there is a lot more to come already. I am preparing an interview from late last night with one of the leaders of the Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka who wants to set the record straight on cause and effect there with respect to Islam and problems. I hope to have that done sometime today.

Isn’t it amazing how they always find some variant of the “human shield” principal to keep their enemies from getting a clear shot at them? It teaches that in the holy Quran. It tells them to try to appear to be being attacked while in fact attacking themselves. It’s a tactic designed to sow confusion with the enemy and sap their desire to fight. Works well…don’t you think?

If I was a high-ranking Hamas guy, and I saw that video of the latest Hamas guy getting vaporized by the seashore in his little car, I would be very concerned about the possibility of getting killed myself in the wake of the murder of the kidnapped Jewish Boys. I would be so worried, in fact, that I would seriously consider “sacrificing” somebody else’s teenage son in the cause of throwing the Israelis off my trail. Next thing you know, John Kerry will be over there pressuring Netanyahu to apologize to the Arabs for being upset, and he’ll use carefully constructed weasel words to insinuate that it’s all Israel’s fault…

  2. My Russki has one son in Kiev and the other in Israel.

Late last night or early this morning (I was so sleepy), a crowd here was listening to news from Israel in Russian. They reported this too. Also that their nerves are shot from all the rockets coming over, intercepted, whatnot.

The Russians are the least blood-thirsty of the lot. But they’re plenty rattled. Arab teenagers are completely out-of-control in Jerusalem. They’re paid: the more damage, the more money. It’s so bad.

    • Hang in, things are building and seem to have reached a point where everything seems to be happening at once.

  3. ‘Iranian attack jets deployed’ to help Iraq fight Isis

Iran has supplied Iraq with attack jets to help it counter an offensive by Sunni rebels led by the Islamist group Isis, strong evidence suggests.

Russia supplied an initial delivery of the aircraft just a few days ago.

But analysts at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London say that a further delivery, on 1 July, originates from Iran.

This means that the US – which has also sent aircraft to Iraq – is operating alongside Iran in this conflict.

The US has deployed drones and helicopters to Iraq and is actively gathering intelligence on the advance by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isis). Washington is also supplying Iraq’s existing air force with Hellfire missiles.

    • IRAQ – Shia rivals clash in Iraqi holy city of Karbala

At least 14 people reported killed as forces loyal to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki clash with supporters of Shia cleric Mahmoud al-Sarkhi

Forces loyal to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki fought with militiamen in the holy city of Karbala on Wednesday, in the first signs of a split within the Shia ranks.

Local journalists in the city reported that at least 14 people were killed when government forces staged a raid on the headquarters of Mahmoud al-Sarkhi, a local Shia cleric.

The attack appeared to be part of a move by Mr Maliki and his Shia led government to consolidate his grip on Shia sections of society, as he grapples against a Sunni insurgency that has swept across the north of the country.

On Wednesday, the prime minister announced an “amnesty” in a bid to draw Sunni tribal support away from jihadist groups who have led the military advance.

“I announce the provision of amnesty for all tribes and all people who were involved in actions against the state” but who now “return to their senses”, excluding those involved in killings, Mr Maliki said.
