2. Security police: Increased radical Islamist threat in Finland
The security police add that the risk of al-Qaeda-led attacks against Finland or Finns is still low, even though around 40 people have travelled from Finland to Syria to join Islamist groups there.
According to Tuomas Portaankorva of Supo there is an ongoing traffic of fighters between Finland and Syria, with some returning from the war and others going back to Syria after a break in Finland.
“They can take on a more radical world view than before,” said Supo head Antti Pelttari.
The evaluation of an increased threat refers to violence that may be perpetrated within local borders without external guidance. Interior Minister Päivi Räsänen says that Finland has around 200 higher-risk individuals.

GAZA CITY: An explosion killed at least five members of Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in a tunnel under the Israeli border Thursday, Palestinian officials said.
“Five martyrs were killed in a resistance activity in Saghira neighborhood” in eastern Gaza City, the local Hamas information office said, without elaborating.
6. Colchester murder: Jihadists call for revenge after woman in Muslim dress stabbed to death

A woman who may have been stabbed to death because of her Muslim dress was named today as Saudi Arabian student Nahid Almanea, who arrived in Britain six months ago.
Ms Almanea, 31, who was attacked as she walked along a footpath in Colchester on Tuesday morning, was described as “hard-working” and was due to graduate from her English language course in August.
Detectives are investigating the possibility she was targeted because of her Muslim clothing, a dark navy blue full-length robe called an abaya, and a multi-coloured hijab headscarf.
(Speaking anecdotally, it seems as if over 99% of Muslim women are killed by muslim men in fact, usually for being too Western in dress or planning to become Western. So if these muslims are planning a killing spree I hope they get their targets right)
The student’s murder prompted calls for revenge from a British jihadist supposedly fighting in Syria. Abu Rashash Britani, an Isis fighter, tweeted: “I call upon any brother to take up a knife and kill as they did #colchester”.
Britani has previously claimed that he and other British insurgents have been ordered to return to Britain once they have finished fighting in Iraq and Syria. He added: “I pray a revenge attack takes place”.
Thank you M, Nicolai Sennels, ML, Buck and more. Also more to come.

The Shi’as And Sunnis (outlook – opinion – Juan Cole, June 18, 2014)
http://www.outlookindia.com/article/The-Shias-And-Sunnis/291090
“…The elites of Mosul and Baghdad, however, tied to patronage from the Ottoman Sultan, resisted this conversion movement and remained Sunnis, recognizing the four Orthodox Caliphs. From about 1880, Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II started claiming to be a caliph, on the medieval model. This claim wasn’t universally accepted but it was popular among Muslims in colonized British India in particular. The British, French and Russians defeated the Ottomans in World War I, after which the empire collapsed. In 1924 the new secular Republic of Turkey under Mustafa Kemal Attaturk abolished the caliphate. Sunnis became like Protestants, organized by country and lacking a central node of authority. Some fundamentalist Sunnis refused to accept this situation and dreamed of reconstituting the caliphate as a centre of authority that could unite 1.5 billion Muslims and deliver them from their divided estate and consequent weakness in the face of the West…”
1.5 billion Muslims in the twenties? Is that what he is saying? That is what I would call badly informed! On the other hand, what would you expect from a professional demagogue like Professor Cole…. Traps and deceptions all over the place…? (Even after if I read the article one more time, I am still getting the same impression – Cole pulling all the registers of trickery and deception intertwined with some facts. Old school…)
re #6 Colchester murder of woman dressed in Islamic garb…
How the hell is it that this investigation can speculate about ‘why she was targetted’ when Lee Rigby’s murder in broad daylight with witnesses was downplayed despite his assassins clearly claiming their motives?
How is it that there is no suspicion of an honor murder in this case? The woman was suspposedly a student from Saudi Arabia. She was clearly walking alone without a male guardian – no witnesses – the potential for dishonoring her family/clan is obvious.
Excellent point, wtd.

honor killing
Yup an honor killing, either that or because she was getting an education.
AUSTRIA – VIENNA – Erdogan irks Austria with anti-assimilation speech
Austria accused Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan of electioneering and stirring up trouble on Thursday when he urged thousands of cheering supporters in Vienna to respect their adopted country but reject ‘assimilation’.
Austrian leaders had appealed to Erdogan not to undermine their efforts to integrate the Turkish community of more than a quarter of a million in his address at a 10th anniversary rally of the Union of European Turkish Democrats.
Erdogan received a rock star’s welcome in a converted Vienna ice rink, with thousands waving Turkish flags and singing his name. Some wore T-shirts with his picture and the slogan “The Sultan of the World”.
Critics staged two counter-demonstrations in Vienna.

#4 The extreme bias in reporting in the conflict between Buddhists and Muslims surprises no Hindu as this reporting bias against Hindus in any conflict with Muslims has been the norm for decades.
There wouldn’t have been the foul, festering sore called “Pakistan” if that had not been the case.
