A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was beaten up at an Auckland mosque.
Haider Lone, immediate past president of the NZ Muslim Association and administrator of the Avondale Islamic Centre, says he fears for his life as he believes the attack was an assassination attempt.
Yesterday, police and security were again called in as ugly scenes erupted at the Blockhouse Bay Rd mosque where two Islamic factions are fighting for control.
Security officers had to intervene to stop a worshipper from using a weapon to attack another man who turned up at the mosque border despite having been trespassed.
(Who knew mosques had borders? Are they allowed to defend them?)
It started with restaurants and supermarkets – now top British universities have admitted serving up Halal meat to unwitting students.
At least ten top higher education establishments – including Oxford University and the University of Manchester – are secretly serving up meat from potentially unstunned animals, it has emerged.
In Manchester, 85 per cent of all meat served is unlabelled Halal meal, while all the chicken served at Sheffield and Exeter – which is Halal – is not marked as so.

A Birmingham surgeon today appeared at the city’s crown court accused of sexually abusing ten women patients.
Nafees Hamid, 50, of Russell Road, Moseley, pleaded not guilty to six charges of sexual assault and seven other of a serious sexual nature.
