1. What happens when colonial influence ends in Africa?

2. Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Boko Haram and the Kidnapped Schoolgirls

(Ms. Ali responds to recent MSM attempts to claim Noko Haram are not really Islamic)

Since the kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls in Nigeria last month, the meaning of Boko Haram—the name used by the terrorist group that seized the girls—has become more widely known. The translation from the Hausa language is usually given in English-language media as “Western Education Is Forbidden,” though “Non-Muslim Teaching Is Forbidden” might be more accurate.

But little attention has been paid to the group’s formal Arabic name: Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-da’wa wal-Jihad. That roughly translates as “The Fellowship of the People of the Tradition for Preaching and Holy War.” That’s a lot less catchy than Boko Haram but significantly more revealing about the group and its mission. Far from being an aberration among Islamist terror groups, as some observers suggest, Boko Haram in its goals and methods is in fact all too representative.

3. UK Education Secretary Urges Teachers to Look Out for Potential Terrorists in Schools

The guidance, issued by the Home Office, states: “[This] is about protecting people from radicalisation into all forms of terrorism, but the most significant threat to this country is from al-Qaeda affiliated, influenced and associated groups and many . . . referrals will therefore relate to this threat. However, the principles set out in this section apply equally to other terrorist groups.”

5. 220 schoolgirls haven’t been ‘abducted’ by Boko Haram, they have been enslaved

(I really don’t get why there is all this hullabaloo about these Nigerian girls. More British Christian girls are tricked, drugged, lured, seduced, kidnapped, threatened and tortured into being sex-slaves for muslim gangs every year in the UK. Why not at least AT LEAST proportional coverage for them?)

Terrorists from a religious cult so reactionary you don’t have to stretch the language too far to describe it as fascistic attack a school. The assault on a civilian target, filled with non-combatant children, has a grotesque logic behind it. They call themselves “Boko Haram“, which translates as “western education is forbidden”. The sect regards learning as oppression. They will stop all teaching that conflicts with a holy book from the 7th century and accounts of doubtful provenance on the life and sayings of their prophet written hundreds of years after he died.

  2. #1 I can’t find the URL but I remember that before 9-11-01 several far eastern nations were talking about getting a group of nations to beg Europe to recolonize Africa to stop the slaughter.

  3. A thread or two back Les linked Nigeria to its Wiki. It’s almost spoof-Wiki.

British colonial rule is to blame for everything, having perpetuated and perhaps even enhanced regional differences. The Brits ruled the North indirectly through Emirs, the indigenous authoritarian political system — don’t say Mullocracy— where the natives continued their barbaric abuse of women and millennia-honed skills as slave-traders.

Then, “As a concomitant of this system, Christian missionaries were excluded from the North, and the area thus remained virtually closed to European cultural imperialism, in contrast to the Igbo, the richest of whom sent many of their sons to British universities.”

Christianity had nothing to do with civilizing savages in the South — perish the thought!

Rather it was natives imitating European attitudes and aspirations. Those who aped the White Man most successfully became rich, wanted more, and reached out to the source.

  4. In a different thread you said that the election of Obama was the most egregious act the left has committed to date, I didn’t think anything about this until your comment on this thread. The attack and attempted destruction of religion in the west is really their most egregious act.

If we were to reflect that our religion permits us to exalt and defend our country, we should see that according to it we ought also to love and honor our country, and prepare ourselves so as to be capable of defending her. – Niccoló Machiavelli, The Discourses. 1517.

He has a couple of other quotes that apply better but I can’t find them.

  5. According to surveys, North Americans are significantly closer to religion than their European counterparts. Whether they’re church-goers or not, they’re believers. That gives me the most hope.

Where are the missionaries when you need them? They’ve got work right here in the USA!
We need them now. They’ll eventually have to de-program a cohort of young zombie converts, so they’d better get busy!

  6. They are out but most of them are Assembly of God or Mormons, as for the other religions we are suppose to bring in converts by our action among our neighbors. This is working better them the Lame Stream Media reports which is why 80% of the people say they are Christians.
