Her body was found after her six-year-old son, who cannot be named for legal reasons, rang 999 because he couldn’t rouse her and her bedroom door was locked.

4. Israel’s commercial planes to be fitted with LASERS to combat shoulder-launched missile threat

Passenger planes could soon be equipped with Star Wars-style lasers which would shoot down a terrorist’s missiles.

Israel’s Ministry of Defence has announced that the SkyShield system developed by defence contractor Elbit Systems had successfully completed tests and has been certified for commercial use.

SkyShield uses laser technology and a thermal camera to deflect incoming missiles – after a threat is detected it fires a laser to disrupt the missile’s navigation system, taking it off course and detonating a safe distance from the aircraft.

    Published on Mar 5, 2014

Officers of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) loyal to the ousted President Viktor Yanukovich have hacked phones of Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and leaked their conversation to the web. The officials discuss their impressions of what’s happening in the country after the revolution. The gist of it is that Ukrainian people have no trust in any of the leaders of Maidan.

“And second, what was quite disturbing, this same Olga [Bogomolets] told as well that all the evidence shows that the people who were killed by snipers from both sides, among policemen and then people from the streets, that they were the same snipers killing people from both sides,” the Estonian FM stressed.

  2. Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Urmas Paet tells Ashton that the snipers were not under orders of Yanukovitch.

    Ashton: Gosh.

  3. #1 The money wasn’t “stolen” and used to finance terrorism, it was always intended that it would be used to finance terrorism. That’s how it works.

  4. If the war holds off long enough and the western nations are willing to spend money on these larger scale lasers will help defeat incoming nuclear missiles.

  5. MAURITANIA – 1 dead in protest over Qur’an desecration in Mauritania

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania – Thousands of people took to the streets, clashing with police in Mauritania’s capital after news spread that a Qur’an had been desecrated at a local mosque. A medical official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press, says a 21-year-old man died after inhaling a large amount of tear gas.

The imam of a mosque, Mohamedoun Ould Mohamed Salem, said four unidentified men entered the mosque in the early hours of Monday, removed four copies of the holy book, and profaned them by throwing them in the mosque’s toilet.

The police opened an investigation, but the news of the desecration spread quickly, and before noon Monday, protesters were burning tires and barricading streets.

  6. There is a Hadith in which Mohammed says that there is nothing holier nor more righteous than to take a girl when she is about six and raise her to be your wife. He did just that with Aisha, consummating the marriage when she was nine-years-old. I gather that such practices were fairly normal in 7th century Arabia…

  7. TURKEY – US warship given permission to traverse Bosphorus en route to Black Sea

Turkish authorities have given permission to a U.S. Navy warship to pass through the Bosphorus within the next two days as fears grow that the standoff between Russia and Ukraine and the West over Crimea could soon become militarized.

Turkish sources, speaking with the Hürriyet Daily News on March 5, declined to elaborate on the name of the U.S. warship. The same officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, however, noted that it was not the USS George H.W. Bush nuclear aircraft carrier as suggested in some news reports, as it did not meet the standards specified by the 1936 Montreux Convention in terms of weight.

The U.S. Navy ship to pass through the straits will conform to the convention’s standards, the sources said.

According to the Montreux Convention, the total weight of military ships that non-littoral states to the Black Sea may deploy to the body of water cannot exceed 45,000 tons.

  8. Hillary Clinton compares Putin moves to Hitler’s

Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has compared Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent steps in Ukraine to aggression by Adolf Hitler in 1930s Nazi Germany, a local paper reported.

Clinton, speaking at a private event Tuesday in southern California, said Putin’s apparent deployment of Russian troops into neighboring Ukraine — a former Soviet satellite state — to protect Russian citizens and Russian-speakers recalls moves by Hitler to protect ethnic Germans living outside of Germany.

The Long Beach Press Telegram which reported the story said Clinton noted that Putin has sought to provide Russian passports to people in Ukraine with ties to Russia.

In the aftermath of the ouster of Ukraine’s pro-Moscow president Viktor Yanukovych, Kiev’s new authorities have accused Putin of inflaming tensions by sending troops into the Crimea, a majority-Russian peninsula in Ukraine.

“Now if this sounds familiar, it’s what Hitler did back in the 30s,” the Press Telegram quoted Clinton as telling attendees at a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Long Beach, California.

“The ethnic Germans, the Germans by ancestry who were in places like Czechoslovakia and Romania and other places, Hitler kept saying they’re not being treated right. ‘I must go and protect my people,’ and that’s what’s gotten everybody so nervous,” she added.

  9. UK – Farage: Migration has made parts of UK ‘unrecognisable’

Parts of the UK have become “unrecognisable” due to the impact of mass immigration over the past decade, UKIP leader Nigel Farage has said.

He told activists at UKIP’s spring conference that opening the UK’s borders to new EU members had had a detrimental impact on social cohesion.

He also said he felt “uncomfortable” about the unwillingness of new arrivals to learn and speak English.

  10. CANADA -RCMP set to tackle extremism at home with program to curb radicalization of Canadian youth

The federal government is preparing to launch a national counter-radicalization program in response to the growing number of troubled Canadians who are being lured into the world of extremist violence promoted by Al-Qaeda.

Following a year that saw young Canadian extremists killed in Syria, Algeria and Somalia, and the arrests of suspects planning alleged attacks in Ontario and B.C., officials are putting the finishing touches on a plan to tackle radicalization.

It would apply only to those who have not yet crossed the line into terrorism.

[…]Many Western countries already have counter-radicalization programs in place. The United Kingdom’s controversial “Prevent” strategy aims to identify and provide support to those considered at risk of radicalization.

Canadian officials have been looking at existing programs, among them Hayat, run by the German-based group EXIT, which helps neo-Nazis abandon far-right extremism. “We’ve touched base with several European partners and we’ve taken the nuggets from the different programs we see as applicable to our landscape,” Supt. Cuillierrier said.

  11. UK – British Islamist admits Islam opposed to freedom, democracy, human rights

On Sunday, British Islamist Anjem Choudary issued a tweet admitting that Islam and Sharia law are directly opposed to freedom, democracy, human rights and liberty.

“Democracy, Freedom, Secularism, Liberty, Human Rights, Amnesty, UN, ARE OPPOSITE TO Islam, Shari’ah, Khilafah, Jihad, Quran, Sunnah, Divine rights,” he tweeted.

[…]Choudary, a British-Pakistani, lives on social welfare funds and takes in a reported sum of about £25,000 — or about $37,770 — per year from the British welfare program.

Last May, the Wall Street Journal said a newly-enlisted British soldier can expect to earn a salary of around £16,000, or roughly $24,172.

“It’s irrelevant,” Choudary said when asked to clarify how much he takes from the British system.

  12. Times of Israel has a round-up of domestic newspaper reviews of Netanyahu’s performance in Washington Monday & Tuesday. He was scheduled to give the keynote address to AIPAC, and say a quick hello to Obama on the way.

There are links in the article below to the infamous SLASHER interview with Obama by Jeffrey Goldberg — published Sunday while the Prime Minister was en route. Obama’s intent was to rattle Bibi and shut out Kerry and the State Dept.

Bibi told Obama, “It’s not the peace process, Stupid, it’s Iran’s nukes.” Real bad scene.

Later he gave a 41-minute speech with 4 minutes of material. Pitched to a middle-brow liberal audience of Israel’s richest Canadian & American supporters. They love him, anyway.
