7. Pope plans to canonize (make into saints) 800 Christians who refused to be converted to Islam during a past jihad by muslims into Europe. This will take place Sunday May 12th 2013, a week from today. It would appear the Church is not as unaware of the current situation as many of us believe.
I think it really needs to be said, that these people being honoured by the church here, are truly martyrs. This is the correct use of the word as opposed to the highly proprietary islamic use of it. They deserve to be so honoured and certainly now is a good time to do it.
8. One of Canada’s most annoying islamic leaders makes absurd claims. No its not news, but it needs to be reported. This particular fellow has been chased from various positions for his activities and last I heard, ran a muslim magazine which had more spin than a gyroscope.
BANGLADESH- Three dead in Dhaka as Bangladeshi Islamists protest for blasphemy law
Hundreds of thousands of hardline Islamists demanding a new blasphemy law blocked highways and fought running battles with police, leaving three people dead in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka on Sunday, police said.
Chanting “Allahu Akbar!” (“God is greatest!”) and “One point, One demand: Atheists must be hanged”, activists from Hefajat-e-Islam marched along at least six highways, blocking transport between Dhaka and other cities and towns.
Police officials told AFP, that about 200,000 people had marched to central Dhaka, where fierce clashes erupted between thousands of rock-throwing protesters and security officials.

Riot police battle Islamists in Dhaka Bangladesh
Clashes between police and Islamist protesters in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka have left at least three people dead and 60 injured.
Up to half a million protesters gathered in the city, where rioters set fire to shops and vehicles as police fought to contain them.
Thousands of activists from Hefajat-e-Islam blocked highways, isolating Dhaka from other parts of the country.
They are calling for those who insult Islam to face the death penalty.
They also want greater segregation of men and women, as well as the imposition of stricter Islamic education.

Uncle Arranging Boston Bomb Suspect’s Burial Rites
The uncle of a Boston Marathon bombing suspect killed in a gun battle with police arrived at a funeral home Sunday to arrange for his burial.
Ruslan Tsarni of Montgomery Village, Md., and three other men met with Worcester funeral home director Peter Stefan. The men who accompanied Tsarni plan to wash and perform Muslim burial rites on the body of 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Stefan said.

Myanmar on alert of terror attack
Myanmar has beefed up security measures and tightened control over travelling visa after reports of possible terrorist attacks in the country, according to Min Aung, Police Lt. Col. of the Myanmar Police Force.
“We’ve been reported the terrorists are trying to enter the country and attempt bombing. So, we have ordered [regional police forces] to step up security measures. We must be always alert as they may wait for the chance to attack. Security has been tightened at the border checkpoints, too,” he said.
Indonesian terrorist Abu Bakar Bashir has recently called for a ‘jihad’ in Myanmar, rousing the mujahideens or the Islamic militants. This alerted the regional police to carry out necessary inspections in predominantly Muslim areas, Police Col. Hla Moe from Railway Police Department of Myanmar Police Force said.
“As the terrorists say they will wage jihad in Myanmar, we have to raise our security measures. We conduct inspections at the gates of and inside the city, said Mandalay Region Police Force’s Police Lt. Col. Tun Naing.
About 600 police are on duty every day. If anything happens in the area, units will reach there in no time to take action. The police have also been equipped to handle the bombs, he said.
Magway Region Government’s Director Min Yu Shein said Magway region is a white region– peaceful area and will not allow any terrorists’ attack to happen. “We are cooperating with the police informers and the police forces. The police and soldiers are now patrolling the region every day,” he said.
Immigration officers are also strictly scrutinising the travellers’ visa.
“We are checking the foreigners’ visa systematically in accordance with the international regulations. We closely monitor those on the black list,” said Than Naing Tun, an official from the Ministry of Immigration and Population.
Police Col. Mya Win said the authorities check entries at the city gates to be aware of the strangers in the area and also inspect the hotels and motels.
Police have been ordered to implement the plans to source timely news at every level, he added.
