Two missiles were reportedly fired at a Russian passenger plane flying over Syrian territory with at least 159 people onboard. The source of the attack remains unknown.
“Syrian [officials] informed us that on Monday morning, unidentified forces launched two ground-to-air missiles which exploded in the air very close to a civilian aircraft belonging to a Russian airline,” an informed source in Moscow told Interfax news agency.
The pilots managed to maneuver the plane in time however, “saving the lives of passengers.”
It is believed the aircraft was intentionally targeted in the attempted strike, “but it remains unclear whether the attackers knew whether it was Russian or not,” the source added.
The plane was flying to Boston and the jihadists wanted to to slow it down so they could get there to cross the line first. Wasn’t this what the Boston bombing was about? A mistake in timing?
What was the altitude of the plane, that will tell us what type of SAM it was.
Does Russia have a red line?
I think their red line is doing something they don’t like.
Begs the question. . .did the US provide the equipment for these ‘Missiles fired at’ Russian plane with 159 passengers onboard flying over Syria?
How’s that going to work out for this administration?
wtd2 that is one reason I want to know the altitude, I haven’t heard about any American SAMs other then manpads being in Syria, however there are large numbers of Russian missiles that have been captured.
