Femen protests in front of mosques in Berlin and Brussels April 3 2013

I don’t agree with some of their reasoning. Law cannot be reduced to ‘it’s my body so I’ll do what I want to’. Drugs are illegal, suicide is illegal, walking naked in public is illegal, taking a dump on a restaurant patio is illegal. Just to name a few of thousands. But still, the fact that they have the raw guts to make their point in front of major mosques in Europe is at least indicative of changing values in parts of Europe. And would anyone notice if they did it in the more pedestrian way? Not to the extent they do now.

Maybe they have a point.

Fifteen Femen France members were arrested in the French capital Thursday for protesting topless outside the Tunisian embassy as part of a worldwide “topless jihad day.” The protesters gathered at the embassy on Paris’ Rue Barbet de Jouy with bare chests scrawled with slogans for female liberation.

One onlooker said (in Arabic), “It is written there is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger… and you would burn that?!”

The day was declared Tuesday after a Salafi preacher called for Tunisian activist, Amina Tyler to be stoned to death after she posted a semi-nude picture of herself on Femen Tunisia’s facebook page. Lawyers said that under the Tunisian penal code, the 19 year-old could face 6 months to 2 years in prison and a 100-1,000 Tunisian dinar fine (50 -490 euros).

  1. “Morals?”

Muslims don’t have morals. Morals have long been replaced by the principle of DARURA, (necessity) which allows anything if it advances Islam, and forbids everything that prevents Islam from dominating.

These girls have to do some close reading.

  2. Even if they lack some qualities, its nitpicking to criticise these women when you consider the difficulties they face, social disapproval and fears for personal safety among them, plus the lack of prominent opposition from any male groups to protest the adverse impact of islam in our societies. Give a little credit where its due folks.
