Egypt Introduces Saudi-style Islamic Moral Police Force

Egypt has quietly introduced a Saudi-style Islamic religious police force in order to implement the moral principles of Islam using “non-violent methods”.

The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, an informal group, made the announcement at a press conference in Cairo.

“We have absolutely no relationship with the ‘morality’ committees in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Somalia or Nigeria. We will only offer advice to those who want to listen. We shall have no business with people who refuse to listen to us,” said the committee’s founder, Hisham el-Ashri.

The committee says it will not interfere with the work of the state’s security forces and has issued assurances that it will not target nightclubs.

Nonetheless, el-Ashri said: “If a drunken customer comes out of a nightclub, we would prevent him from driving until the police arrive, so he won’t hurt himself or others.”

  1. Aah, the fruits of the Arab Spring!
A great big “TOLD YOU SO” to all those idiots who cheered on the poor oppressed people of the Middle East wishing to shake off the shackles of Western-backed dictators and live in peaceful free democracies.
It’s not going to happen. Democracy doesn’t work where Musloids are concerned. Out of the frying pan of Mubaraks and Assads (who at least gave some protection to religious minorities) and into the fire of Sharia law, Islamic terrorism, and theocratic despotism.
The utopia didn’t bloom in Iran thirty years ago and it’s not going to work out in Egypt or Libya! Have these idiots not learnt their lessons yet? No, it appears not, because these same idiots are now cheering on the rebels in Syria, probably the same idiots who frequently champion the cause of the Hamas-led Palestinians.
It just goes to show that Leftists and other deluded apologists are incapable of learning anything.
You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and you can’t teach a deluded fool anything about history!

  2. How long will the whips used by the new police be? And how heavy and long will the clubs they use be?

  3. I’m not particularly interested in guns that don’t fire pixels or water but this is the EXACT reason we have a 2nd amendment. We can see how easy it has been for the MB to become a dictatorship.

The MN would not have been able to subject this tyranny on the populace if they had to pay for bullet proof vests as well.

  4. Truthiocity you are right, but way too many people are stuck in the “It can’t happen here syndrome” and others get their knowledge of the military from the movies and TV shows that show them to be robots incapable of independent thought, because of this they way there can be no successful rebellion so the civilians don’t need guns.
