  1. Oh donkey man, thankyou for posting this. Sir Salman-truely a man who knows the meaning of the words, “NO FUCKING SURRENDER EVER”! NFSE!

  2. he only defends freedom of speech that does not intentionally provoke which of course is no kind of freedom of speech

  3. Jade I both agree and disagree with you. He grew up in a muslim heavy country before he came to England, where he found freedom so ergo he knew what the reaction of the islamic world was most likely to be, he was banking on us to save his skinny arse IMHO. That said his book and subsiquent fatwa was an early wake up call to the west. The satanic verses galvanized the UKs islamic community, which up until then was peaceful and humble, into what you see today.

  4. However he was right in saying that free speech is thr root of all our freedoms. Was it Voltaire who said,”to know who rules over you find out who you cannot critisize”?

  5. You would think a man who has been under a fatwa, a penalty of death for years for his freedom of speech, would support others freedom of speech. What a hypocrite! There are no levels of free speech, you either have it or you don’t.

  6. If you read his history he was not really someone admirable in the face of all this. He did quite a bit of boot-licking to get the Ayatollah off his back and I think even became a religious Muslim for a short time till that didn’t work.

I would have hoped that he would take a principled stand now. He in a way, was the single identifiable moment as the start of all this madness.
