Wikileaks founder claims to be a peace activist. I suspect like most self proclaimed peace activists, he is very much for war but on the ‘other side’. Certainly this batch of leaks promises to do much more to accelerate a war than it does to help build good relations. I also can’t help but notice that there are no leaks from North Korea, Iran, The KSA-Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan, although I’m quite certain that revelations from Pakistan will be released if they have not been already.
In any case, this man should be tried for treason with a capitol punishment if found guilty in my humble opinion. What he has done will cost the lives of allies of the west, of freedom and of liberal democracy. Perhaps not a perfect system, but the best ever managed in the history of the world so far. Even so, it is interesting that so many Mid East leaders are calling for the elimination of the Iranian regime. It seems they are not squeamish about attacking, but most certainly are of Iran getting the bomb.
To prevent news about all sorts of stuff getting around is not to make publishing impossible, but not to do things that are questionable. Not to write the things that have to be kept a secret.
Besides that, it’s not a crime to tell the Ahmediniad is a moron, it’s a fact that is only a surprise to the bastard himself.
It would be better if all diplomats would only tell the truth, all the time.
Don’t believe for a minute that the Saudi wants Iran out of the picture because the country is a threat to world peace.
Sunni-based Saudi Arabia has had a inter-ideological feud with largely Shiite Iran for centuries.
And they also fear that should Iran take out Israel with nukes, they would get massive amounts of fall-out over their deserts.
No, this illustrates how selfish the Saudis are and how Islam continues to twist relations between nations to benefit its leaders.
Among other things the leaked documents show that China is helping North Korea with material aid in their quest to sell weapons to anyone with money. They show that North Korea has sold/given Iran plans and missiles that can reach most of Europe and all the way to Moscow.
Yes Saudi wants Iran stopped because they are afraid of them, that is the same reason Bahrain wants them stopped, the only mistake the Saudi King made was making the request while Bush was President, if Obama had been and the King had ordered him to attack he would have.
As far as the wikileaks people being anti-war you are right they are pro-war as long as the war is against the west, they are like the anti-war protesters during Nam. The protesters were either leftists who wanted the US to lose, or were draft age kids who didn’t want to fight, this was proven because when the draft ended (before the war ended) the protests became very small with out the people who didn’t want to fight attending. Now the anti-west people can find one bitter fool who will steal secret documents and they can release them.
But like you I think a lot of the facts in the memos are going to backfire and will cause people to start supporting the war of survival.
How do we sort the fact from the fiction amid 250,000 + e mails and messages.? Just thought I would ask. Of course this clown is an America hater, I just think there should be a way to verify these so called leaks. We all know that he gets some of his funding from very wealthy folks who like to damage us in the diplomatic arena. He is also represented by very leftist lawyers.
About the only way is to see if there is any supporting evidence to what is said, the memos about China and North Korea support conclusions I drew from many thousands of tid bits in may reports. As to the rest, if you can find supporting reports it is real, if you can’t take you best bet on what is real and what isn’t. The memos that hurt the enemies of the US are probably real but even then we can’t be sure.
I wasn’t in intelligence when I was in the Army but I have had friends who retired from intelligence, according to them the hardest part of intelligence is deciding which report is real and which isn’t. We all have to play that game with the memo’s, and if people start denying the memo’s are they telling the truth or not? We have the luxury of taking our time in making up our minds, the intelligence pros usually don’t.
