For any of you who have read the page on VTB called the ‘agenda and views of this site’, you would know that we have specifically mentioned the issue of western news media not reporting the name of those arrested for crimes if they are Muslim and not reporting the description of a suspect if the suspect is black or non white. This in our opinion creates the very thing we all seek to end, namely, hatred and discrimination. In this report the name of the suspected who was arrested is not given in this account or any other I can find. This leads us all to assume it is a Muslim whether it was or was not. But had the name been Anglo Saxon, it’s a very safe bet that the name of the accused would be in or near the headline. There should be more on this tonight and its as likely the perpetrator of this violence against a BNP member is a leftist/anarchist as well. We shall see.
This does not bode well for liberal democracy nor for civilization as a whole.
Violence broke out in Leigh where a BNP event was being held
A British National Party (BNP) member was attacked with a hammer when protesters arrived at a campaign event in Greater Manchester.
Violence broke out as 30 people surrounded a BNP vehicle outside the Ellesmere Pub in St Helens Road in Leigh on Friday evening, said police.
Tony Ward, 48, was hit with a hammer and later treated in hospital.
A 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm has since been given police bail.
Officers arrived at the pub to discover the BNP’s trailer had been overturned, said a police spokesman.
A traffic diversion was put in place on St Helen’s Road, while the trailer was removed and the road was closed. It has since reopened.
One witness told BBC News: “They had hammers and they smacked the vehicle to pieces, smashed all the windows and tore off the bumper, completely decimated it.
“I was shocked at what I saw.”
A BNP fundraising event had been due to take place at Pure nightclub in Leigh, but it was cancelled at the last minute.
Simon Darby, the party’s deputy leader said: “This was a violent attack by a group of thugs in which one of our members was badly injured.
“But we will not be put off.”
Tony Ward, 48, of Liverpool, was with fellow BNP members outside a pub in Leigh, Greater Manchester, last night, when he was attacked.
He needed 11 stitches.
The BNP members were with a party trailer outside the Ellesmere Pub, on St Helens Road, when Mr Ward was attacked with a claw hammer.
Party spokesman Dave Jones said: “A group of about 25 to 40 turned up armed with various weapons, bats, knives, and attacked about half a dozen of our people.
“They had obviously gone there to disrupt the meeting and attack people.
“It was sinister – they were so organised and had turned up to attack people rather than just demonstrate peacefully.”
A fundraiser was due to take place at Pure nightclub in Leigh, but was cancelled at the last minute, added Mr Jones.
He said police told them they would object to future meetings there unless they moved the venue – which they did, arranging to go to the pub.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “I can confirm a man is in custody following a confrontation yesterday in the early evening on St Helens Road in Leigh.
“The victim sustained lacerations to the head and it does look like a hammer could have been used.”
