Did Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev murder Jews on the 10th anniversary of 9/11? That’s the question police are now asking, as they continue to dig into the past of Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
The three young men, Brendan Mess, Erik Weissman and Raphael Teken, were found murdered in an apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts on September 12, 2011. They had been killed the night before. All three victims had their throats slashed, and their bodies were covered in marijuana. The crime scene was described as particularly brutal, with an investigator saying, “their throats were slashed right out of an al Qaeda training video. “ But Weissman had been arrested previously on charges of possession with intent to distribute, and neighbors also suspected Teken of being involved in the drug trade. For these reasons, police initially suspected a drug connection. At the time of the killing, investigators were looking for two suspects, who were believed to be known to the victims.
How many murders are committed in the name of Islam but are never solved because the police ignore jihad as a motive?
Russia Kill Jihadist Linked to Boston Bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev
Russia has launched a military offensive against jihadist groups in the semi-autonomous republic of Dagestan killing an associate of Abu Dujan, whose bomb-making videos were uploaded by Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Russian forces killed Shakrudin Askhabov, an associate of the Islamist group’s leader Abu Dujan, possibly linked to Tamerlan.
Videos of Abu Dujan’s group explain how to make homemade explosive devices, among other things, and at least one of them was uploaded and later removed by Tamerlan from a social media account.
However, Russian authorities have denied any links between the raids and the Boston bombing case.

Expert on federal death penalty cases is appointed to defense team of accused Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev
A federal magistrate judge has appointed a prominent specialist in federal death penalty cases to join the defense team of alleged Boston Marathon terror bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Judy Clarke, a San Diego, Calif., attorney, has the “background, knowledge and experience” that will “enable her to provide adequate representation to the defendant,” US Magistrate Judge Marianne Bowler said in a ruling today.
Clarke’s clients have included Unabomber Ted Kaczynski; Susan Smith, who drowned her two children; and most recently Tucson, Ariz., shooter Jared Loughner. All received life sentences instead of the death penalty, The Associated Press reported.
Bowler denied, for the time being, a request for the appointment of a second death penalty specialist for the defense team.
Tsarnaev, 19, faces charges of use of a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in death. He and his brother, Tamerlan, are accused in the April 15 bomb attacks on the marathon that killed three and injured more than 260. They also allegedly killed an MIT police officer. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died after a confrontation with police in the early morning hours of April 19. Police say they were subduing him after a shootout when his brother ran him over in a desperate escape.
Clarke joins three other attorneys — Miriam Conrad, the chief federal public defender for Massachusetts, and two assistant public defenders — in defending Tsarnaev.
The defense had asked for appointment of two attorneys “learned in the law applicable to capital cases” after Tsarnaev was charged last week.
Bowler wrote today, “A federal death penalty case implicates particular procedural requirements and ‘is extremely demanding to defend because of the effort and pressure involved.’ In light of the circumstances in this case, the defendant requires an attorney with more background, knowledge and experience in federal death penalty cases than that possessed by current counsel.”
“Appointment of Attorney Clarke is therefore justified to provide the defendant with adequate and proper representation,” Bowler wrote.
In a footnote, Bowler said, “Indeed, her qualifications demonstrate she is ‘learned in the law’ of capital cases.”
David I. Bruck, the other attorney the defense wanted to join their team, is a clinical professor of law at Washington and Lee University School of Law and director of the school’s death penalty defense clinic.
A message left at Clarke’s firm this afternoon wasn’t immediately returned. The website describes her as “specializing in complex criminal litigation, federal capital defense, and white collar crimes.” An e-mail message left for a spokeswoman for the US attorney’s office wasn’t immediately returned.

Unfair? Tamerlan & Brendan were ‘best friends’. How unfair was it to notice that Tam did not attend his best friends funeral/memorial? There have been suggestions that Tam’s radicalization and attempts to bring his younger brother over to the dark side resulted in this triple murder, as punishment to those who were connected to Djhokhar’s recreational/occupational supply. When did Djhokhar stop using/selling pot?
Tsarnaev family received $100G in benefits
The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance — a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.
“The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning,” said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today.
The state has handed over more than 500 documents to the 11-member House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, which today met for the first time and plans to call in officials from the Department of Transitional Assistance to testify.
“I can assure members of the public that this committee will actively review every single piece of information we can find because clearly the public has a substantial right to know what benefits, if any, this family or individuals accused of some horrific crimes were receiving,” said state Rep. David Linsky (D-Natick), the committee’s chairman.
Linsky’s committee has requested documents from the DTA, the state’s Medicaid director and Health and Human Services Secretary John Polanowicz. But so far the committee has not released the records publicly, citing a privilege the DTA is asserting under state law.
Transitional assistance officials also told the Herald tonight that the agency was conducting its own investigation into whether Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s family ever notified the DTA about his extended trip to Russia, and has since expanded its probe to include a full history of the benefits received by the entire Tsarnaev family.
