1. We like to look at movies and other art, books and so on that offered thoughts on the future at the time, or even like Orwell’s 1984, the present but applied to another place. The Gulag Archipelago is a documentary book but really important for understanding communism and authoritarianism in general. But so many science fiction and other forms of fiction gets one or more elements right, either in describing the past, present or speculating about the future that there is a pretty good field to learn from.
There is one scene from Cabaret, the famous movie from 1972 with Liza Minelli which I think describes a great deal in a single sentence. In it, the main characters who are having various forms of affairs with each other take a trip to the country. The driver is a supporter of the Nazi Party and assures them that this won’t be a problem. That the people can control the party and it will just be used to deal with some pressing issues of the day. After seeing a demonstration of the intensity of Nazi followers and spread of the faith, they ask the driver, “Do you still think you can control them?”
Of course where it is different today is that with the benefit of hindsight, modern communist leaders CREATE the problems that will get the people begging for a totalitarian leader. Clever, except that in every case where Muslims and communists ally, the Muslims win. They know what they believe and have their own form of dialectics. At least in the sense of a proprietary form of logic or reasoning that cannot be questioned.
2. Speaking of fiction as it describes components of reality, especially political reality, reading this article in the National Post, full of curious pejoratives for the Liberal Party, (pejoratives that are of the Hanlon’s Razor variety as opposed to meaningful or descriptive) about who supports them, reminds me a lot of that famous scene in Gulliver’s Travels where there is a war between two nations of tiny tiny people that Gulliver is made to settle for one side. As it turns out, the war is about how each side cracks their eggs for breakfast, The big end or little end. This article feels a little like, not so much start a war, as keep people divided over things that make zero difference in terms of the actual issues deracinating Canada by the day.
Remember, The ‘Liberal’ Party of Canada is bringing in millions of people who mostly hate the West and have no skills or value to add, and when they do work, make things unsafe. The Conservative Party of Canada wants the state to build them homes. Much like CBC during Covid pretending to speak truth to power by demanding to know why the Carney/Trudeau Liberals didn’t do MORE totalitarian measures against individual liberties.

The results of an Abacus Data survey have again revealed which generations are keeping the rotten Liberal Party popular and in power. It’s the baby boomers and the silent generation, of course.
The new survey, released on Sunday, showed that “(a)mong Canadians aged 60 and over, the Liberals lead the Conservatives by 20 points, 52 per cent to 32 per cent.” Only one or two percentage points divide the Liberal/Conservative preference (measured as vote intention) among all other age groups, meaning that without the Boomers and their elders, our red and blue parties would be neck-and-neck in the polls.
More than 10.8 million Canadians were age 60 or over in 2025, which represented more than a quarter of Canada’s population — and an even greater percentage of the voting population. Furthermore, older Canadians are more likely to vote in federal elections. They are plainly the most powerful voting bloc in Canada — and they are also the most out of touch with the struggles of the average Canadian, largely insulated, by economic privilege, from the fallout of our Liberal Lost Decade.
In the United States there is a real difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. Maybe for the first time and maybe not. I think many people smarter and more knowledgable than me would argue the Democrats have always been a version of what they are now. But I would take JFK’s Democratic Party over any iteration of it since or maybe before. In any case, Remember, Obama, probably deliberately, got the oath of office wrong so often they had to go complete it in private. Or at least as reported. I think it was 2012 Frank Gaffney did a 10 part course on the Muslim Brotherhood in America. In that report he showed that both parties are or were heavily penetrated by the Ikwan. That there was no substantial difference between them in terms of the issue of dealing with the islamification of the US at that time. But there is now. While much of the GOP may still be penetrated, there is at least th Sharia Free America Caucus and other GOP representatives, federal and state who are opposing Islam. Most notably Florida and somewhat in Texas where there is a formal law against sharia.
Of course, sharia is antithetical to the Constitution, so it’s already illegal. But at times one needs to spell it out plainly.
3. One of the most thoughtful experts on Islam and its consequences in Western nations is Elaine Ellinger. She has just posted this article on Muslims on juries where the accused is a Muslim. Well worth clicking over to read. A short excerpt:
An X contributor wrote: “They shouldn’t be on jury duty as they always let their cousins off.”
A common complaint in Western countries is that Muslim jurors should not serve because “they always let their cousins off.” The remark is usually treated as a crude accusation of favouritism toward other Muslims or dismissed as “Islamophobia.” In reality it points to a deeper and well-documented difference in legal and moral rules.
There is a further difference that Westerners often miss. In the West it is common to treat religion as something that can be largely ignored while still claiming the identity. Many people call themselves Christian while disregarding large parts of Christian teaching, and this is widely accepted. But Islam is a deen – a complete way of life and system of law – fundamentally different from personal belief.

4. The covid years, or what we think of as the Communist Revolution of 2020, caused a great deal of cognitive dissonance. This was when people should have learned not to take anything at face value. In a sense, one could write an essay claiming that the revolution had divided people into two camps. Those who’s need to believe in the state was so great that they would ignore the evidence of their senses, the contradictory statements by the state itself, the loss of dignity and liberty and other insults to reality and those who began to question what was taking place to the point of maybe making some different decisions. And yeah. That is factually correct. The cognitive dissonance comes from the state explaining that there is a disease coming from beyond the border, so deadly and contagious that everyone in the USA had to take an experimental new technology, not even an untested vaccine, but an entirely new way of delivering a therapy that involved telling your very own cells how to make the exact protein that was problematic about the disease in the first place, In fact, the full spike protein of the virus, which is the pathogenic part of it.. Presumably to force your immune system to protect against it. yet weirdly, telling you that exposure to the virus itself could not do that. In hindsight, since the same actors telling you all this were the ones who actually made the damned disease, they should have known what was true. So layers and layers of lies and piles of what should have been enough cognitive dissonance to make everyone wake the hell up.
But yeah… this did happen.
5. I wonder of the RCMP will be charged under bill C-9 for hate speech.
