A tale of two Winstons and your daily rage bait :inks post 1 for February 23, 2026

1. There is a battle between Winston Churchill, and Orwell;’s character, Winston Smith. Smith worked at the Ministry of Truth and his job was to put things into the memory hole, an incinerator, for any facts or news, or history that was inconvenient to The Party. Winston Smith is in full swing in Canada, with massive amounts of books being banned in school libraries, although explicit homosexual and ‘trans’ propaganda books appear to be safe on the shelves for the moment.

Churchill wrote a book in 1899 called, The River War on Churchill’s account of the British-Egyptian campaign in the Sudan. In it he had a few paragraphs on his opinion of Islam.

Here it is. Copy and save it somewhere. You’ll see why in a minute:

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property—either as a child, a wife, or a concubine—must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die: but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.

When I asked Chat GPT to produce it for me, I got this:

Asking Grok if the passage is still in the book, should one buy it in the UK, I got this answer:

is that passage still n the book if yuo were to buy it today, in the UK for example?

No, the famous passage on Islam (beginning “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!”) is not included in most editions of The River War that you would buy today in the UK (or elsewhere).Churchill himself abridged the book significantly for a one-volume edition in 1902 (after becoming an MP), removing about a third of the original content—including this controversial reflection on Islam (from the 1899 two-volume first edition, Volume II, pp. 248–250), along with other critical passages on events, people, and ethics. The 1902 abridged version became the standard one reprinted for over a century in most commercial editions, paperbacks, and reprints (e.g., many available on Amazon.co.uk or major UK booksellers today are based on this shortened text, often without noting it’s abridged). The original full passage only appears in:The rare 1899 two-volume first edition (hard to find and expensive, mostly antiquarian/collector markets).
A scholarly unabridged “definitive” edition edited by James W. Muller, published in 2021 by St. Augustine’s Press (two volumes, restoring the full 1899 text with notes on changes). This is available for purchase (including via UK/online retailers), but it’s a specialized/academic release—not the “standard” version most casual buyers would get.

If you pick up a typical modern paperback or reprint of The River War in the UK today (e.g., common editions from publishers like CreateSpace, Digireads, or budget reprints), it will almost certainly be the abridged 1902 text without the passage. The full original is now accessible digitally (e.g., via Archive.org scans of the 1899 edition) or in that 2021 scholarly set for those seeking it specifically. In short: Standard editions today = no; only rare originals or the recent unabridged scholarly edition = yes.

I get different answers over time though. Today it is that Churchill himself took out that passage. Either way, it is getting more difficult to find, and GPT refused to print it altogether. In Canada, Winston Smith represents the guiding principle of many school boards:

For example, in 2023 the Peel District School Board, the second-largest school board in Canada, ordered all its school libraries to remove books published before 2008 because their content may violate diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. As one student told the CBC, the purge produced “rows and rows of empty shelves with absolutely no books.” Even the children’s classic “Curious George” bit the dust, and there were claims that Anne Frank’s famous diary went to a landfill.

Likewise, the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, the French-language Catholic school board for southwestern Ontario, developed a policy of “Giving Back To Mother Earth” that involved actually burning books with offensive caricatures of Indigenous people and planting trees over the ashes. More recently, Larry Farquharson, a teacher-librarian at H. B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ont., retired (early) in disgust after the Thames Valley District School Board ordered libraries to discard books that didn’t meet DEI standards, including some books of Canadian military history.

And now, for your dose of daily (fact checked) rage bait:

1. Marco Rubio said something true about islam!

If he just took out the “Radical” part of his statement he would have it 100%!

2. There is a story out of France that actually has legs! It is surprising because normally when a person not of the left or not an ethnic minority is victimized, the story never makes it to public attention at all, let alone generate protests. But this is a refreshing exception. First, the story. Last week a man was beaten to death for defending a talk by someone that upset the left in France. The story is well written at RAIR at this link from February 15th! That’s ages ago from the perspective of any victimization of a Conservative.

But a lot has happened since. Protests in the streets, and it turns out, the people who beat the victim to death were working with the Mayor of the town!

Pay special attention to this part:

“It now also looks as if the group was given access to the city’s video surveillance to “track right-wing groups’”

We often explain that ANTIFA, or in this case, the Jeune Garde, which my public school French nags me to think it means, “Young Guard”, (which seem to be similar to Mao’s Red Guard, or Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge. A militia of young brainwashed people who use force against anyone with ideas that actually work) are in fact a governmental organization with plausible deniability. In other words, State Thugs that don’t have to obey the law because their job is to destroy the law. And now we see they were given state surveillance video to better coordinate their thuggery over the talk and protest to protect the talk. As you can read at the RAIR article, the entire thing was because a group of actually civilized people were protecting a talk by a woman who’s organization believed in actual women’s rights against ‘feminist’ efforts such as trans etc. to destroy them. The lead guard was beaten to death, and amazingly, the story has been picked up, people arrested, and politicians are being fingered as accomplices. We shall see what we shall see.

3. Another UK Church burns to the ground. But thanks to the killing of Kevin Krehan, Mosque doorknobs are safe from strips of bacon.

4. It’s good that James Woods Tweeted this out. And yes, I remember when they banned school prayers in Canada. But then again, I remember when they swapped out a meaningful flag for the Maple Leaf and Sickle we have now and when they changed the human form imperial system for the Euro-Com metric system just to distance Canada from the USA.

5. It appears Muslim sex slave gangs have been noticed in Canada now. Actually they have been noticed for years, but the media has managed to keep them mostly quiet. The Sun did a special report on one in Ottawa when it had a TV station, but the trial was secret and the whole thing was buried. But this one may be harder to keep quiet.

Thank you all for checking out this site.

Gavin Newsome doing his best Biden/Clinton imitation

What did Biden say? “Poor people are just as smart as white people”? Something like that.

  1. i know and understand that the owners of the website are canadian .
i understand that what happens in canada will come to america.
we share a border .. as an american i think we need more articles on the activities of islam in america..
it is frustrating to see what islams done everywhere else while it goes under reported her in the us..thats how it will spread rapidly here..nobody is reporting on it. can you do a more balanced articles .
newsome is only known about because ppl report on him..until trump ran his first term the state of california was rarely ever discussed..
i live in kansas the so called environmentalists now want to build a huge data center in a podunk town called osawatomie with less than 6000 residents. it will
use the only water source the mara de cyne river.. it will take lots of space and it will not bring jobs and it will cause a major housing crisis.. it will not be good for the entire county lots of us depend on that same river.. it will adversely affect the farms
and livestock..it will poison all the water life and vegetation..i think this company is really stupid since thy are wanting to build in a river bed area that floods constantly..it will become an eye sore in many ways especially when its abandoned .. getting it tore down will be expensive and that cost will go to the citizens.

Any student group at a US public school is free to meet at lunch or recess in an empty room to pray or to read religious texts, such as the Scroll of Esther on Purim next week.

Save outrage for something that merits it.

    • The praying itself is NOT the issue. It’s the power challenge. Same modus as blocking crowded city streets for exhibitionistic arse-lifting.

The authority, the power structure in a _public school_ has flipped 180. Proleptic dhimmitude. It’s the most dangerous message possible to give to honor/shame tribes.

Forget about “live and let live”. Projecting Western attitudes is a fool’s errand.
Didn’t 10/7 teach you anything? The most “progressive” Israelis lived in that Gaza envelope.

Zero sum thinking. Islam frames it as a victory to be celebrated openly. Debase the loser, a subhuman dhimmi at best. Think violent bullying and gang-rape.

If you don’t understand that, listen to Friday sermons on MEMRI. You can find some in English in this country, but the literal Koranic Arabic is most clear.
