Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

  2. Algerian woman jailed for life for murdering French schoolgirl

    An Algerian woman who raped, tortured and killed a 12-year-old French schoolgirl has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
    Dahbia Benkired, 27, was handed the maximum possible penalty by a Paris court for the killing of Lola Daviet, making her the first woman to receive a full life term in France.
    The week-long trial into the 2022 killing caused political outrage after Benkired was found to have overstayed a student visa and failed to comply with a notice to leave the country.
    Benkired forcibly lured Lola into her sister’s apartment in the north east of Paris, where she raped, tortured and killed the schoolgirl.
    The 12-year-old died by asphyxiation after she was bound with duct tape.
    Benkired then stuffed her body in a suitcase and took it to a cafe, where she told a customer she was “selling a kidney” when he remarked on her suspicious luggage.
    Despite pleas from the parents not to politicise their daughter’s death, Lola’s murder was exploited by Right-wing politicians and anti-migrant campaigners.
    Éric Pauget, of the Right-wing Les Républicains, said she had been killed as a result of France’s weakness on immigration.
    Before the verdict, the prosecution called for a sentence commensurate with the suffering of the victims and the seriousness of the crimes committed.
    “The sentence must ensure the protection of society, prevent the commission of new offences and restore social balance,” the prosecution requested.
    Three magistrates and six jurors found the defendant guilty of the murder of a minor and the “rape of a minor with torture or barbaric acts”.
    In France, an act of sexual penetration of any kind, committed on another person by violence, coercion, threats or surprise, is considered rape.
    In the verdict, the presiding judge cited the “extreme cruelty of the criminal acts”, describing them as “true torture”.
    He said: “In determining the appropriate sentence, the court took into account the unspeakable psychological damage to the victim and her family in such violent and almost unspeakable circumstances.”
    Three psychiatric experts said they had noted “psychopathic” tendencies in the defendant and did not think she suffered from any mental health condition that could be cured.
    Throughout the investigation, Benkired gave different motivations for the crime.
    At one point, she told detectives she had been angry at the girl’s mother, who was the guardian of her sister’s apartment building and allegedly refused to give her an entry pass.
    In the weeks before the murder, she had also searched about witchcraft and “human sacrifice to become rich”.
    ‘Sacrificial lamb’
    During the trial, courts also heard that Lola, who was described as a “sacrificial lamb”, could have been the collateral victim of emotional revenge after Benkired exchanged heated texts with her former partner, who she claimed was abusive, on the day of the murder.
    Before the verdict was announced, Benkired told the court: “I ask for forgiveness and what I did is horrible. That’s all I have to say.”
    Following the verdict, Delphine Daviet, Lola’s mother, burst into tears. The accused showed little emotion.
    Ms Daviet told the French press: “We believe in justice and we got it.”
    Thibault Daviet, Lola’s brother, said: “We have restored the memory of my sister and her daughter, we have restored the truth. And above all, thank you to justice.”

      But in court on Wednesday, Nicolas Estano, 47, a clinical psychologist and expert witness, claimed it was text messages between Benkired and her ex-partner Mustapha M, that led her to allegedly committing the gruesome crimes.
      ‘When you lose the object of the love you have invested in, there is a desire to take revenge… Lola Daviet is a victim by proxy of the anger she had against Mustapha M.’, the expert said, adding: ‘There is a rage expressed on someone who is not there, so we are going to express this rage on someone who is there.’

      Today, Estano told the court that even though ‘sexual sadism is something quite rare,’ he believes Benkired’s actions expose ‘an almost sexual pleasure in the abuse inflicted on someone’.
      During Monday’s hearing, several family members left the court as images of Lola’s injuries were shown while other shocking details came to light, including that she had ‘visible traumatic injuries’ on her genitals.
      The 12-year-old girl was ‘vaginally and anally penetrated’ while she was still alive, according to the medical examiner’s examinations.
      ‘There was hemorrhagic trauma to various parts of the body,’ particularly to the child’s private parts, the doctor said.
      Lola also had a ‘large wound’ on her face, a severed neck and a slashed back, likely caused by knives, while her ‘head was partially severed’.
      On Wednesday, the Estano claimed that following the alleged brutal assault and murder, Benkired told him she had drank some of Lola’s blood, though the investigation never confirmed this.

      He also told how the alleged killer, who is facing life imprisonment if found guilty, had made ‘strange remarks related to witchcraft’ linked to ‘family beliefs’, after Lola’s body was found with the numbers 1 and 0 on the soles of her feet in nail polish.
      According to respected French newspaper Le Monde, Benkired allegedly told investigators that she saw a ‘ghost’ in Lola and acted out of ‘fear’ of this ‘devil incarnate.’ The probe showed she had conducted searches online into witchcraft days before the murder.
      The schoolgirl suffered 38 wounds on her back and neck before dying from asphyxia, a doctor told the Assize Court in Paris on Monday.

  3. Why Armed Women Are Safer: What Gun Control Activists Won’t Admit

    A recent report about the odds of being murdered in the U.S. underscores the increased interest in armed self-defense.

    I recently read an email from Moms Demand Action that led with a chilling statistic: more than 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner every month in the United States.

    As someone who has spent the last several years teaching other women how to properly and safely use firearms, that number is heartbreaking. Every one of those stories is tragic. But what troubles me is how that statistic is being used to convince women that their safety depends on being disarmed, which is the opposite of empowerment.

    Domestic violence is a horrific reality. I’ve looked into the eyes of women who’ve lived through it. Many of the women who come to my classes aren’t “gun people.” Some have never touched a firearm before. But they show up because they know that calling for help isn’t always enough when danger is already present inside the home.

    As a matter of fact, I am a survivor of domestic violence. So, I hope that anyone who doubts my opinions or convictions on my personal right to keep and bear arms hears this message with absolute clarity.

    The world is full of unexpected threats, not in the woods, but in our homes. Not strangers in dark alleys, but people we know.
    Moms Demand Action claims that women are five times more likely to be killed if their abuser has access to a gun. What they leave out is that a woman who is trained and prepared to defend herself with a firearm is far less likely to be a victim in the first place.

    When I was in my late teens and early twenties, I wanted nothing more than to own a handgun. However, my anti-gun home state had other things in mind, and I was legally prohibited from pursuing my concealed carry weapons permit as a means of self-protection, a tool that may have prevented my assault.

    According to the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, 90 percent of perpetrators of sexual violence against women are men. In terms of domestic violence, statistics show that at least 85 percent of domestic violence victims are women.

    Domestic violence is a choice that abusers make, regardless of laws and prohibitions. Abusers choose to abuse. Guns don’t cause abuse. Abuse starts in the heart. Taking firearms away from law-abiding women doesn’t make violent men less dangerous; it only makes their targets less capable of fighting back.

    I have no doubt that many members of groups like Moms Demand Action mean well. They use the language like “gun safety” and “preventing domestic violence.” But the leaders of that movement and the billionaires who fund them are making women less safe by restricting our ability to choose the most effective means of protection.
    Almost every woman knows someone who has been a victim of abuse, if not having been one herself. Guns are not the cause of abuse. Abusers are. The tool doesn’t create the intent; it’s the intent that seeks out the tool.
    Instead of promoting disarmament and dependency, we should be promoting empowerment. Gun owners already lead the way in safety training and responsible ownership. The statistics bear this out. With hundreds of millions of firearms in the U.S., children under the age of five are far more likely to die from drowning, poisoning, suffocation, or auto accidents than from firearms.

    Here’s what else they don’t tell you. The vast majority of defensive gun use never even makes the news. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention un the Obama administration has acknowledged that Americans use firearms defensively up to 3 million times every year. Most of those cases end without a shot being fired, because the presence of a gun stops the crime before it starts.
    This October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I don’t want to see another campaign that paints women as helpless and firearms as the enemy. I want to see one that teaches women how to be their own first responders.
    Because the real crisis isn’t that too many women own guns, it’s that too many women are told not to.

    At Empowered 2A, a project of Gun Owners of America, we believe America needs more firearms education and training, not more fear. We need more women at the range learning safety, confidence, and accuracy, not more laws that make them criminals for wanting to live how they choose. And we need policymakers who trust women to make their own choices about their own defense.

    Not every woman will make the same choices I have. Some will choose a firearm, others won’t. That choice should be hers alone, not that of Washington politicians who are surrounded by some of the best-armed security on the planet, with a billion-dollar annual price tag.

    If Moms Demand Action truly wants to save women’s lives, they should start by trusting women with the same tools police officers rely on to protect themselves. Because our lives are no less valuable.

    And to the women involved in Moms Demand Action, I’d ask you to consider what you’re asking the government to do. You are asking your own government to take away your best means of self-protection and trade our essential liberty for the false promise of safety.
    This October, I will wear purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month in hopes that more women stand up and defend themselves rather than be disarmed waiting for help that isn’t coming. I will also carry responsibly. Not because I want to use my firearm, but because I never want to need it and not have the choice.

    One of the most famous bible stories is the story of David, a young man who slew Goliath, a gigantic Philistine warrior, champion of the Philistine army. The story is much debated. Was David known to Saul, the king, before David killed Goliath? How old was David when he killed Goliath? Did someone else kill Goliath, and was David later given credit for it?

    The most common assumption is that David killed Goliath, using a sling and a stone to triumph over the giant. Estimates of his age vary from 13 to 28. He is described as both a boy and a man, as “a youth” and as “a mighty man of valor, a man of war”.
    In every generation, there are people who are born with a natural aptitude with one or another sort of weapon. People with an aptitude often hone this ability through practice, training, or both. David appears to have been a “natural” with the sling. He had plenty of time to practice while he was watching over his father’s sheep. The evidence of his proficiency is from KJV bible, I Samuel:

    34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

    35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

    36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

    Even a nine-foot-tall giant would be as vulnerable to a sling as a European brown bear or a lion. Killing a bear and a lion with a sling (and probably a dagger or knife) would make David well known for his proficiency. It is not impossible to kill a bear or a lion with a sling, or at least to knock them out long enough to finish them off with another weapon, such as a knife or short sword.

    The bear that existed in Israel at the time of David would have been the European brown bear, essentially the same animal as the grizzly bear in North America. Not all grizzly bears are the same size. There are large males, smaller females, and sub-adults, which are smaller yet. The most common to come into conflict with humans tend to be young males who have not established their own territory yet. It seems more likely that the bear which David killed was under 300 lbs than over 500 lbs. Similarly, a lion could easily be 150 lbs instead of 300.
    The important thing with a slung stone would be to hit the animal on the head, at the right spot, to knock it out or to stun it. Pitchers who are good at throwing 5-ounce baseballs can hit speeds of 130 to 150 fps. Slings magnify the speed of the throw. Some modern users of the sling hit close to 200 fps and over 130 foot-pounds of energy. It is enough to knock out a bear. A Canadian man, Jesse Mengler, knocked out and probably killed a black bear in British Columbia with a thrown rock in 2010.

    From the biblical text, it is clear that Goliath underestimated the smaller David, who was not wearing any armor. His overconfidence contributed to his defeat. It is not difficult to believe Goliath turned his attention away from David at a critical moment. David closed the distance to optimum sling range and let fly with the deadly shot. Goliath was struck in the forehead with enough force to partly embed the stone. He fell unconscious to the ground. David then used Goliath’s sword to make certain he was dead. To show both armies he had triumphed, David cut off Goliath’s head and held it up for them to see.

    For most of history, slings have been used as military weapons. They were used by the Aztecs in opposition to the Conquistadors in the Conquest of Mexico. Steel armor and firearms made slings obsolete as military weapons.
    In Barnett v. Raoul, Judge McGlynn references the David and Goliath story to illustrate the need for effective projectile arms for self-defense. Judge McGlynn stated David had no choice but to use a projectile weapon in combat against the giant Goliath, who outclassed David in sheer size and body strength.

    • Young terrorists became very proficient with the slingshot in Judea and Samaria. I don’t know the numbers, but they took a significant toll on Israeli civilians.
